During this lecture, you can pick your name, and rival's name. After this lecture, you will be in your bedroom. Go over to your PC and withdraw a potion, which you'll need later. Go downstairs and say goodbye to mom. If you go straight to Prof. Oak's labratory, he will not be there. You have to go out into the grass first. Professor Oak will tell you to stop. He will switch to the battle screen and catch a level 5 Pikachu. He will now take you back to his lab, where you'll get your first Pokémon. When you get to the lab, you will see that your rival will be there also. He wants a Pokémon, too, and when you get the go ahead from Prof. Oak to get the Pokéball, he will push you over towards the trash can, and take it. Professor Oak will give you the Pikachu he caught and then your rival will challenge you to a Pokémon battle. If you win, your Pikachu will grow to level 6. After the battle, you will be able to go northward, towards Viridian City. Once you get to Viridian City, you will see that the gym is closed. The gym leader is not there. Anyway, go into the Pokémart and get Professor Oak's parcel. Go back to Pallet Town, taking the shortcuts through the hedges to make it easier. Go back into Professor Oak's labratory and give him his parcel. The parcel was the custom Pokéball he had ordered. Your rival will show up as well. Now Professor Oak wil give you your Pokédex. He wants you to fill up the Pokédex by catching 150 Pokémon. You can also get a Town Map from your rival's sister now. |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | What Pokémon will your rival start out with? | | | | Vaporeon - Your rival will end up with a Vaporeon if you lost to your rival at | | Professor Oak's Labratory. | | | | Jolteon - If you win the battle at Professor Oak's Labratory, and fight and win | | against your rival wast of Viridian City, your rival will eventually end up with a | | Jolteon. | | | | Flareon - If you win against your rival at Professor Oak's Labratory, then lose or | | skip the battle west of Viridian City, your rival will end up with a Flareon. | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| After you get your Pokédex, you will have to go north again. A person on Route 1 will give you a potion. The grumpy old man who was blocking your path in Viridian City before, from going north, will not be gone. Do not go anywhere without going to the Pokémart and buying some items, though. Also, if you go west, you will be able to battle with your rival. He will talk about not being to enter the Pokémon League until you have badges. |-----------------------------------------------| | Rival Battle 1 | | | | Spearow - Lv.9 | | | | Eevee - Lv 8 | | | |-----------------------------------------------| VIRIDIAN CITY You can also go to the Pokémon center and have your Pokémon healed for free! Also here, you can access the PC and go into the link club. Since there is nothing important, except for a house in which you can get information on status alignments and other information if you are a beginner, you can move on, continuing to go north, because there would be nothing else for you to do in this town. Take Route 2 to the Viridian Forest. On Route 2, you can get two items. Item 1 is an HP UP and item 2 is a Moon Stone. You will now enter the Viridian Forest. The Viridian Forest is a great place to level up your Pokémon. Your Pikachu should be around level 13 before you go and fight Brock, but you shouldn't be using your Pikachu against Brock. Catch a Mankey, or a Nidoran and level it up until it learns a fighting move, which is around level 12. In the Viridian Forest, there are four items. Item 1 is a Pokéball, item 2 is a potion and item 3 is another potion, and item 4 is hidden diagonally down and left from the final trainer here. PEWTER CITY After you exit the forest, you will find yourself in Pewter City. There are a number of important things and places to go and see. The first place you'll have to go is the Museum of Science. Here you will pay $50 to go in, but you will be able to see some fossils of Pokémon that you will be able to own later in the game. There is also an entrance to behind the Museum of Science where you'll get Old Amber, but you can not do that yet. Now it is time to go to The Pewter City Gym. Brock is the leader of this gym, but you should fight the other trainer and get some experience points and to prepare your Pokémon before you fight Brock. You may use any Pokémon you'd like, but here is a reccomended team: |-----------------------------------------------| | Gym Leader: Brock | | For: Boulder Badge | | | | Geodude - Lv. 10 | | | | Onix - Lv. 12 | |-----------------------------------------------| After you defeat Brock, and recieve your boulder badge, you will now be able to go east to Mount Moon. You will have the oppertunity to fight many trainers on this path, which is good if you are trying to level up, which you should be doing. There is a Pokémon Center right before Mt. Moon, and inside, a wandering salesman will offer you a Magikarp for ¥500. If you are a dumb person, buy it with pride, but most of us smart people know that only a fool would buy it. Once you enter Mt. Moon, you will be on the First floor. However, throughout the cave, there are a number of items. They include: Item 1 Potion, item 2 potion, item 3 Rare candy, Item 4 Escape Rope, Item 5 Moon Stone, Item 6 TM 12, Item 7 TM 01, and finally item 8 is an HP UP. Work your way through the cave. When you reach the end of the cave, you will fight a trainer for a fossil. He will let you chose which fossil you want first. The Helix Fossil is Omanyte, and the Dome Fossil is Kabuto. After choosing, once again, continue to work your way out of the cave. You will be challenged by some falmilliar enemies. They are Jessie and James of Team Rocket. |---------------------------------------| | Jessie and James Battle 1 | | | | Ekans - Lv. 14 | | | | Meowth - Lv. 14 | | | | Koffing - Lv. 14 | |---------------------------------------| When you exit Mt. Moon, you will be on Route 4. There is only one trainer here, and there is a grass patch which is used for leveling up Pokémon. CERULEAN CITY Cerulean City is a fairly big City. Also, to the left of the city, there is Route 4 for leveling up your Pokémon, and to the North, you will fight your rival again and also go on the Golden Nugget bridge and fight trainers for loads of expierence points. Above and beyond that, you will be able to fight more trainers and even get a new Pokémon for Free! Before you go anywhere in Cerulean City, level up your Pikachu to level 20. When it reaches this level, you can go inside the house to the left of the Pokémon Center and get yourself a Bulbasaur on Level 10. Now it is time to go and face your rival to the north of the city. |-----------------------------------------------| | Rival Battle 2 | | | | Spearow - Lv. 18 | | | | Sandshrew - Lv. 15 | | | | Ratatta - Lv. 15 | | | | Eevee - Lv. 17 | |-----------------------------------------------| After defeating your rival, go onto Nugget Bridge. Fight the trainers, one by one, going back to the Pokémon Center when necessary. After defeating the five trainers, talk to the last person. He will award you with a Golden Nugget. They can be sold at any Pokéshop for ¥5000. He will also offer you a position in Team Rocket. After refusing, you will fight him in a Pokémon battle. Beat him and go back to the Pokémon Center, heal your Pokèmon, and go back. A trainer just north of the bridge will admit that he was a bad trainer, and he is going to give up. He gives you his Charmander. You are on Route 25 now. There are two items here. They are TM 45 and TM 19. Fight the trainers, and then after a lot of fighting, you will eventually arrive at Bill's sea cottage. Bill was doing an experiment, and it went wrong. He has turned himself into a Pokémon and will eat you-- Just kidding. He actually is stuck in a Pokémon suit and needs your help to change him back. Do just that, and afterwards, he'll give you a ticket to the S.S. Anne. Go back to Cerulean City, and heal your Pokémon. It is time to fight Misty, and she shouldn't be too incredibly hard, considering you should have a strong Pikachu and probablly an Ivysaur by now. Here is the rundown on Misty. |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Gym Leader: Misty | | For: Cascade Badge/ TM 11/ Cut Anytime | | | | Staryu - 18 | | | | Starmie - 21 | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| After Misty, you will be able to go through the house that was once blocked off by a Team Rocket member. You will fight a rocket outside of the house, and when you beat him, he will award you with the DIG TM. Go south, and you will eventually run across the Pokémon daycare. You should leave an unwanted Pokémon there, because the system is sorta messed up. You should go through the underground path and arrive on Route 6. Now, you are at... VERMILLION CITY There is lots to do in Vermillion City. First, heal your Pokémon, and then head over to the far left house in the middle of town. If you listen to the Pokémon Lover's Club owner, he will give you a bike voucher, which can be exchanged for a Bicycle at Cerulean City. Now, head over the S.S. Anne, and hop aboard. There are floors of trainers to fight here, and you shouldn't miss one. You wuill also get Max Potion, TM08, Great Ball, Ether, TM44, Max Ether, and a Rare Candy on the ship. Upon entering the captain's room, you will come across your rival. |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Rival Battle #3 | | | | Spearow - 19 - | | | | Ratatta - 16 - | | | | Sandshrew - 18 - | | | | Eevee - 20 - | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Now, get the CUT HM from the ship captain, who is sick. (Just look inside his litter bin.) When you leave the S.S. Anne, it will depart for good. Now you can go and fight Lt. Surge. |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Gym Leader: Lt. Surge | | For: Thunder Badge/ TM 24/ Fly Anytime | | | | Raichu - 26 - | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | 5 - Pokédex | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Pokédex.
