I am Reverend Eric "Vegita" Johnson, and I see you want help for the Gameboy Advance game "Legacy of Gokuu II". Grrrrreat! Here is the follow-up game to "Legacy of Gokuu", a popular (if short and challenge-lacking) RPG for the GBA. Now, we have a sequel, which picks up the popular Manga/Anime's plot right where the previous game left off. What better place to start from, eh? I wrote a guide for the first one, so here I am, writing for the next one. Gee, imagine that. Well, continuity helps, I guess, and if you don't mind my tireless rambling and inane chatter about what is going on in the game, then maybe you'll sit through another FAQ. I don't mind it. After all, if I did... then why would I still be writing? First off, let's get one thing straight: Even though I like to think I am Vegita, I will try to write from an un-biased point of view (although I still think I'm the best at everything). Second of all, if I catch anyone copying all or part of this FAQ, ANY part of this FAQ (not counting little, inconsequential sentences like "First off, let's get one thing straight), I will destroy you. I will rip you limb from limb like the excessively weak individual you are, and then I will sue you for copyright infringement. Well, ok, maybe I'll just sue you, but if I got the chance I'd certainly go for the ripping of limbs from other limbs. Third of all, I do not own the rights to this game, the names of the characters in this game or FAQ, or have any ownership whatsoever of this game (except for the cartridge sitting in my room, that is). Are we clear (this means YOU, Vertsk8!)? ============================= Legacy of Gokuu II ============================== ---------------------------II: Game Story---------------------------- ============================= Legacy of Gokuu II ============================== Dragon Ball was a Manga (Japanese cartoon or comic) created by Akira Toriyama, an artist in Japan, in 1984. The manga, which dealt with an absurdly strong little boy named Gokuu (off of the Japanese stories of a monkey god of the same name), became wildly successful, and a cartoon version was put on the air in 1986. It ran all through the course of the show until the main character, Gokuu, finally grew to adulthood. This signified the end of Dragon Ball, but promised that something new would return next week in it's place. This new show: Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Z picked up right where Dragon Ball left off, with Gokuu as an adult. He has a child now, and his arch-nemesis, Piccolo, was as bad and mean as ever. This series introduced an entirely new set of characters, mostly from outer space, and revealed Gokuu's origins (he's from another planet too). Dragon Ball was such a large success, before and during it's "Z" stage, so it was obvious enough that there would be video games made about it. There are RPGs, Fighting games, Strategy games, and even a few arcade games. However, Dragon Ball's reign of popularity eventually ended in Japan ni 1996, spanning 3 series (503 episodes all-told), 42 Manga volumes, several video games, tons of movies, and various other marketing ploys. Enter the United States' amoration with the Japanese cartoon, the "Anime". There had been a number of anime brought over to the U.S., translated and dubbed with English vocals, to be viewed by the American Populace. However, none have every truly gained the critical foothold of becoming a popular TV series on their own. There have been shows that gained notoriety from their viewers, such as Speed Racer, a show who's "unique" blend of storytelling and overall style became a point of mockery. There were legitimate successes of certain imports, such as Akira and Princess Mononoke, but the holy grail of importing hadn't yet been breached - the discovery of the intensely popular show. And then, Dragon Ball Z came to our shores. Granted, Pokemon had its phase in the United States, and enjoyed a swell in popularity that rivaled that of our own TV shows. However, the market was too saturated with the Pokemon anime and Pokemon merchandising, thus killing the market too quickly. Dragon Ball Z started out with a modest following in the U.S., and has been steadily growing ever since. The surest proof of its success? At one point, Cartoon Network showed Dragon Ball twice every week day and occasionally on the Weekends as well, airing 10+ times a week. The fact that the majority of people weren't complaining about oversaturation - in fact, they wanted to see more of the show (thus the justification for having 3-hour block "DBZ Fests" on Weekends from time to time)! One could easily say that Dragon Ball's popularity is just as high as Pokemon's was. Now, with DBZ's success, comes a new wave of Video Games. The first salvo of games, brought to us by Infogrames, included "Legacy of Gokuu". As you might logically deduce, that game was the precursor to Legacy of Gokuu II. Legacy of Gokuu II begins with a short explanation of the trouble that is to come for our heroes, shortly after the destruction of Furiza (scourge of the universe and villain from the previous game). We learn that two Artificial Humanoids (known as Androids) have destroyed all of the Z-Senshi, save Gohan and Trunks. The game begins with Gohan tutoring Trunks in the basic ways of protecting himself within the game, and - from there - jumps back to the life of Gohan as a child, shortly after everyone returned from Namek and started to get back to their normal lives. Look out, world, some stuff is goin' to go down when Furiza arrives on Earth, so you (and the rest of the Z-Senshi) had better go meet up with him and see if you can stop 'em! =============================== Legacy of Gokuu =============================== ----------------------------III: Basics---------------------------- =============================== Legacy of Gokuu =============================== Let's cover some of the basic stuff, first, so you'll at least have a general idea of what to do in the game, eh? On the main screen, you have 2 options: Start and Options. Start takes you to a screen where you can select (or delete) one of 3 games; highlighting a New Game allows you to start a New Game (gee, imagine that). Under the Option Menu, you can change the Language (English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish), as well as change the Text Speed, Sound Effects (FX) Volume, and the Music Volume. Finally, you can view the credits for the game, or exit back to the title screen. Let's assume you started up a new game. You know, since that is what the bulk of this guide is going to cover an' all... _____________________________====================______________________________ A - Basic Gameplay ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ====================ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Throughout the game, you will take on the role of one of 5 characters - Trunks, Gokuu, Gohan, Vegita, and Piccolo (as well as a special hidden character). Controls for the troup remain the same throughout, though, so there are no worries about whether or not you will have to spontaneously adapt to a new control setting. However, certain attacks of theirs (physical and Ki-related) will change depending on which character you are currently using and which attack of theirs that you have selected. Everyone has their own styles and each attack has its own properties, giving a uniqueness to all 5 players. This game goes by the standard RPG "level" format, wherein your characters' strength, Ki ability, Defense, Hit Points, and total Ki amount all depend on what level your character is at. When you defeat an enemy, you gain experience from that enemy (represented by a numerical amount, and each enemy has its own Experience amount that it leaves when you beat it). Gain enough experience and your character will gain a level, earning more HP, Ki, Strength, Power, and Endurance. Also, the amount of experience required for another level-up will go up as well, making it a little more difficult to reach. Hey, it can't be TOO easy, right? Your characters attack their opponents using a variety of attacks, all while moving about and (hopefully) avoiding the damage coming their way. When you or an enemy takes damage, the amount of damage is signified by red numbers that appear above your head. This is the amount subtracted from your total Hit Points (you can check this in the Menu screen). If you come across an enemy that receives life from your attacks (i.e., Androids 19 and 20), then Green Numbers signify the amount of life they are gaining. Cell also gains life from you, by sucking it directly out of you via his Stinger; this is an attack of his own, rather than him simply gaining life from you hitting him with the wrong move(s). The more damage you take, the lower your life gets. However, you can regain life (and Ki) by collecting items dropped by your opponents. For Health, you have 3 different sizes (and flavors) of Chicken to pick up for restored life: Chicken Leg: Small portion of your Health. Chicken Dinner: Decent portion of your Health. Chicken Roast: VERY decent portion of your life (1/4 to 1/3 restored) Likewise, there are 3 different sizes of "Ki Balls" that are used to restore your Health (same amounts, just different items and they are applied to Ki). None of these items can be collected and held onto, so grab 'em while they are there. Thankfully, none of these disappear until you walk into another area (offscreen), so if you need to, you can wait to pick them up. Ok, so let's start out explaining the main screen. In the upper-left corner, you'll see a box with 3 colored lines, a yellow triangle on the left edge and a smaller box on the right. Each of these 5 items represents a separate statistic for your character. Here those are: Health: Appearing as a red line, your chosen warrior loses health as they take damage (and, thus, the red bar grows shorter) from enemies' attacks. This bar is a graphical representation of how many Hit Points your character has. This is the topmost bar in the upper- left display, and is one you'll probably want to monitor more than any other. Ki Bar: Everyone has Ki attacks in the game (even the secret character), and each use of each Ki attack requires a certain amount of Ki to be used. Rather self-explanitory, yes? Wellsir, the amount differs per attack, as well as whether or not you charge up the attack, etc. Furthermore, you can slowly recharge your Ki if you remain motionless (although Ki recharging is a VERY slow process). Your Ki bar is the Green Bar located directly below the Red Bar (Health), in the upper-left corner of the screen. Experience: Your Experience Bar is the Thin Blue Line located directly beneath your Ki Bar (green). As you gain experience, it grows in length, moving from the Left to the Right and changing to a lighter tone. Once the bar fills up, you have gained a level. Power Up: Represented by the Yellow Triangle on the left-hand side of the box that houses the Health, Ki, and Experience bars, the Power Up meter represents whether or not your character will be able to use their specific Power-Up ability (which is either going to be Super Saiya-Jin or Super Namek, depending on the character). Once you have the ability to use this Power Up (and have initiated it), the triangle disappears shortly. It then builds back up, bit by bit, giving you a slight downtime between uses. Ki Attack: The small box with a symbol in it (on the right side of the rectangle these meters are located within) shows which Ki Attack you have currently selected. Everyone has the basic Ki Attack and the Power Up (Z) Icon; from there, everyone else has their own separate Ki attacks (not counting Gokuu and Gohan, whom share the Kamehame-Ha). Oh yeah, and the Hidden Character only has 1 Ki attack, so you won't have to worry about learning different pictures or shuffling through Ki attacks for them. Also on the main screen, appearing in the upper-right corner (occasionally), is Garlic Junior's Jar of evil water. If you walk into an area and see this appear, that means there are hostile enemies that you'll have to fight. Note: If this does NOT appear, then you will NOT be fighting any enemies, even if there are hostiles running loose (this is applicable in the Triceratops King's location, where you have to contend with harmful Triceratops without the ability to attack them). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Moving on, then...let's look at the things you interact with on the main screen. This is not to say that you aren't interacting with your Health Bar, Ki Bar, etc., I simply mean that...uh...you take on a more direct level of interaction...uh...well, I suppose the Health Bar is rather direct in its interaction...look, you! I've had enough of your nitpicking! Get offa my case, blast you! Rocks and Pots: Throughout the various landscapes you fight through, you will see Rocks and Pots of varying sizes. These can be busted open with Physical attacks and/or Ki blasts, and will reveal either Ki Balls (Ki Restoration) or Chicken (Health Restoration). Enemies: These guys...well, are a little obvious. They seek to cause physical harm upon you, ultimately resulting in your demise. Don't let that happen! NPCs: "Non-Player Characters", people that you can freely interact with (that aren't considered enemies). You can talk to 'em, ignore 'em, scan 'em with the scanner, or what-have-you. Joy. Numbered Gates: These things are confusing only for a short while. Throughout the game, you will come across a variety of gates that have different numbers (and colors) to them - these gates lead to special areas hiding bonus items, Plot Items, or simply more- challenging arenas for your characters to do battle within. In order to pass the gate, you have to have selected the right character to open it, and have reached a level of experience equal to or greater than the number represented on the door. ONLY that certain character can open their door, so even if you have Vegita at level 50, he can't open one of Gohan's doors with a Number "20" on it. Here are the corresponding colors per character: Gokuu - Orange Gohan - Light Blue Piccolo - Green Trunks - Purple Vegita - Dark Blue Hidden Character - Red Easy enough to understand, yes? To open a door, simply bash it with a Physical or Ki attack (and make sure you have the right level requirement met). Save Point: These things are fairly easy to spot; large gray ovals with the Capsule Corp. symbol within it, you can use these circular devices to save your game and switch characters (once you have some unlocked). Move onto it, press the A Button, and you'll be given the option to save (and switch characters). Flying Circle: Occasionally, you will find a small rock-shaped stone on the ground with a depiction of someone flying on it. This is the Flying Circle, which allows your character to transport themselves to another area by levitating themselves and hovering along their way. You use the Flying Circle by walking on top of it and pressing the A Button. Overworld Sign: Appearing as a Map affixed to a pole in the ground, these things are your link to the outside world. By walking up to one and hitting the A Button, your character will be taken to the Overworld. Overworld: Let's briefly go over the Overworld, then, since that would be the next logical segue. Your character is now controlled via the Directional Pad, and can land on one of the pre-designated landing points that the Mini-Map showcases. When you are flying over an area that you can land on, the name of the area will be listed on the bottom of the screen; furthermore, these areas appear as Purple Dots on the Mini-Map. If it is the next area that you need to fly to (to further the plot), then it will appear as a Star on the Mini-Map. You can only fly to and enter areas that are on the map; if it hasn't shown up yet, then you can't go there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So here's how the game works - you have a certain amount of life with which you have to survive attacks, and Ki which you can use to attack back. When you run out of Life, you die and the game is over; however, you can use Items of dropped Chicken to restore your life so that this does not happen. Reduce your enemies in a similar fashion and watch 'em die, giving you a little more experience (and possibly a restorative item). Get enough experience and you gain a level, receiving incremental upgrades to your Health, Ki, and 0-2 points of gain towards your Strength, Power, or Endurance (randomly picked). Unfortunately, no one is left alive aside from a few humans, Gohan and Trunks, and 2 menacing Androids that have killed off everyone in sight. They even proved to be too great for myself to handle, so it looks like you have some serious problems. Oh well; as long as someone in my family handles the problem, then I have no problems dealing with it. "You start off playing as Trunks, with SSj Gohan instructing you. Do as he says and pummel the rocks, using physical attacks or Ki blasts to do so. The game gives you a brief tutorial, so if you don't know how to move about in the game...wellsir, make good use of it! "After doing Kakorotto's child's bidding, continue up to the Flying Circle and move onward to the next section. You will find yourself in a rainy city, where no one (living) is left in sight. Moving northward, you'll find Gohan...and promptly see him executed by a convergence of Ki Blasts, coming from 2 different locations. Sounds like 2 Androids to me! Trunks, at the sight of his friends' death, harnesses enough anger to (finally) turn Super Saiya-Jin. Good for you, son, now you are REALLY ready to kick some Android booty! ...unfortunately, that's not what happens. Instead, we are taken back to Present Day Earth, where Gohan is busily studying. Ever the hard-working individual, Gohan simply lacks the willpower to tell his mother to shove off; because of this, he finds himself studying more than he does training, playing, or having a normal life at all. I shall also include a transcription of the enemies' information (taken from the game), as well as my own thoughts on how to combat these fools. Finally, I will also include the experience given by each monster, appropriately listed as "EXP". Oh, and one final note - the Enemies (and Everyone Else) will be alphabetized, while Bosses are listed in order of appearance (where applicable). Alligato Ninja Tiger Bandit Destroye Pterodactyl T-Rex Eggbot Saber-tooth Tiger Triceratops Hawk Scorpion Warlord's Henchman Kuma Mercenary Snake Warthog Ladybug Wolf ##### Alligator ##### HP: 600 STR: 29 POW: 1 END: 20 EXP: 9106 Scouter Reading: These fearsome reptiles leave near water in the tropics and will fiercely protect their territory. Strong jaws and sharp teeth make alligators a formidable foe. General Thoughts: Forget what the scouter says...Alligators are difficult because they are rather slim opponents (meaning they can be harder to hit), and they LOVE to attack en masse and get you stuck on a tree, a wall, a bit of shoreline, whatever. It's a bit of a blessing to find a group of opponents that start out motionless (good for picking off and earning some easy experience), but once they all get riled up and start charging you...well, you'd better make sure you can take 'em all out before you're surrounded! ##### Destroyer ##### Red Green Gold HP: 1463 3120 4200 STR: 32 46 49 POW: 39 42 44 END: 29 39 43 EXP: 9106 43180 58900 Scouter Reading: This giant robot bears the insignia of the Red Ribbon Army. Scanning indicates that this robot was designed for military purposes. The thick geromantium armor on this robot makes it invulnerable to most conventional attacks. General Thoughts: These guys, as big as they are, can be quite the pain because of one simple thing - flamethrowers. You walk up to one of these suckers and they'll get you as you're coming with a burst of fire, scorching you repeatedly before you can even land a blow on 'em. The trick to nailing them is to chuck a Ki blast, then run after it so that they end up stuck in the lag from being hit, allowing you to run up on 'em. From there, resort to the usual punch-rush. However, these giant beasts can also punch you back, so going for a Charged physical attack usually isn't the best idea - they'll hit you before you can get 'em with it. ##### Eggbot ##### Red Blue Green Gold HP: 250 525 1130 1349 STR: 19 35 38 47 POW: 25 41 44 53 END: 18 22 34 52 EXP: 875 2670 33170 Scouter Reading: This egg-like robot bears the insignia of the Red Ribbon Army. Scanning indicates that this humanoid robot is designed for the purpose of hand-to-hand combat. The arms of this robot are actuated using unusually powerful hydrolic pistons. General Thoughts: These guys aren't too difficult to take care of, I'd say, since they are primarily physical attackers. Once again, you have an enemy who's primary offensive is rushing and (trying to) hit you, so you can keep them away or simply punch-rush them to death. However, you do have to show a little caution - when defeated, the Eggbot will flash, vibrate a little, then explode...so don't get caught in the explosion, try to move away before he goes kaboom instead. Fun Note: The "eggbot" is actually a miniature reproduction of Pilafs' fighting robots from Dragon Ball (earlier in the series). He, Shuu, and Mai used giant-sized robots that looked like these 'Eggbots' to do battle with Gokuu. They did surprisingly well, too, given just how powerful Gokuu is. ##### Hawk ##### HP: 110 STR: 10 POW: 1 END: 5 EXP: 300 Scouter Reading: The hawk is a bird of prey. Hawks have sharp beaks and acute vision. General Thoughts: They're fairly weak, but fast and can attack in groups. Joyous. Since they are fairly quick when it comes to moving about, you will have to dash after them just to land a Physical Blow. I prefer switching over to Ki blasts and shooting them out of the sky. Hey, man, if you want to run after the bird, you go right ahead - but don't come crying to me when it turns and rams you as you're attempting to blindside it. ##### Kuma Mercenary ##### Brown Red Blue HP: 125 596 940 STR: 17 25 35 POW: 1 1 2 END: 15 20 32 EXP: 250 9106 9800 Scouter Reading: This bear is a member of the Kuma Mercenary Clan. These soldiers are ruthless and cunning, and often resort to robbery when unimployed. General Thoughts: Another run-of-the-mill grunt, although this one is a little stronger than your average foe. They carry a sword and like to rush you, attempting to hit you with it. As per usual, pick 'em off at a distance, or simply punch-rush them to death (punch, step forward, punch, step, punch, etc). ##### Ladybug ##### Red Blue Green HP: 29 175 700 STR: 1 1 1 POW: 7 16 32 END: 4 11 29 EXP: 38 520 11200 Scouter Reading: This flying robot bears the insignia of the Red Ribbon Army. Scanning indicates that this robot is designed for surveillance purposes. However, this bug-like robot is also equipped for defense. General Thoughts: Man, these things are annoying. They are smaller targets, which makes ranged Ki shots a little difficult; furthermore, they have long-range electrical blasts that can hit you before you can get in close and thwack them. Even worse, however, is the fact that this electrical discharge can nullify your ki blasts (at first), meaning you have chuck a few shots just to ensure you hit 'em. Piccolo, however, doesn't have to worry about this absorbtion feature if he uses his Mankaksopoppo - it'll tear through anything, including the electrical beam, to go to (and through) it's target. ##### Ninja ##### Red Gray HP: 900 1400 STR: 34 37 POW: 25 31 END: 27 31 EXP: 36800 Scouter Reading: These warriors value stealth and subterfuge. Some ninja use their ninjutsu skills for assassination and thieving. General Thoughts: These buggers can be quite the pain. They have the standard physical attack, but they can also chuck Shuriken (ninja stars) at you, acting as a counter-projectile with which to keep you at bay. They are rather powerful blokes, too, and the fact that they are often hiding - and thus pop up when you least expect it - can mean almost guaranteed damage on you. Be careful and plow through 'em as best as you can, trying to get 'em one at a time. If you're not careful, one can play the physical game with you while one of 'em plays the Sniper with those stars...so deal with one as quickly as possible and then move onto the next! ##### Pterodactyl ##### Blue Red HP: 900 1200 STR: 28 40 POW: 1 1 END: 16 30 EXP: 9578 25000 Scouter Reading: Often mistaken for a dragon or dinosaur the pterodactyl is actually a flying reptile. Pterodactyls can be quite cunning and intelligent hunters. General Thoughts: I would highly suggest you ignore the scanners' readings. All the Pterodactyl does is fly about, occasionally gliding near you so that it might try to land a bite. Suffice to say, somthing this big should NOT be missed by any attacks. Pathetically easy, really; even if you are so physically weak that they could bite you once and kill you, you should be able to handle yourself with Ki blasts or the standard Punch rush. ##### Sabertooth Tiger ##### Yellow Gray HP: 750 1500 STR: 32 25 POW: 1 1 END: 14 21 EXP: 9106 Scouter Reading: This species of tiger has long razor sharp teeth. They are fierce carnivores. General Thoughts: Uh huh. Yet another mindless drone, doing little but rushing you and nipping at your heels until you are dead. Granted, these suckers tend to come in greater groups than enemies like Snakes or Kuma Mercenaries...but still, you really shouldn't be outclassed by these guys. If you ARE, then I suggest you beat on them until you gain a few levels. ##### Scorpion ##### Silver Red Gold HP: 110 400 2000 STR: 11 18 70 POW: 1 1 1 END: 5 11 56 EXP: 9106 9106 Scouter Reading: Scorpions are arachnids with large claws and a tail ending with a poisonous stinger. The venom of a scorpion is highly potent. This particular species of scorpion is very large and aggressive. General Thoughts: Scorpions are, for all intents and purposes, the same as Wolves, Sabertooth Tigers, Snakes, Kuma Mercenaries, etc. That is to say, they are palette-swaps of one another, and all they do is run at you and attack. Despite the description given by the scanner, Scorpions do NOT poison you (in the game). In real life, however, you should probably treat them as if they WOULD poison you. ##### Snake ##### Green Red Purple Blue HP: 35 125 275 530 STR: 7 10 15 32 POW: 1 1 1 1 END: 3 5 14 28 EXP: 38 600 14028 Scouter Reading: These rattlesnakes are extremely aggressive and poisonous. General Thoughts: The biggest problem about these guys, when you first encounter them, is their range of attack; that is to say, Snakes have a slightly longer range of melee attack, which gives them the ability to hit you before you can hit them. Still, they do not present much difficulty if you can get a punch-rush going, or - failing that - you can just Ki blast them into oblivion. ##### Tiger Bandit ##### Orange Purple Red HP: 38 325 1128 STR: 6 10 34 POW: 3 18 42 END: 4 8 25 EXP: 38 650 14028 Scouter Reading: This is a member of the Tiger Bandit Gang. The Tiger Bandit Gang is wanted on many counts of thievery, pillaging, money laundering, kidnapping, and general mayhem. General Thoughts: One of the first opponents that our heroes has the privlege of squaring off with, these guys like to rush and punch...and not much else. Since they aren't too strong and don't have much in the way of diverse attacks, then you should be able to handle these guys...as long as you're not so weak that they can kill you. Make sure that does not happen, ok? Moving up in the world, you will meet up with Purple Tigers, whom enjoy chucking explosives at you. Once again, they aren't much of a threat if you are strong enough, although they can provide a worthy challenge if you are surrounded by several (3-4) by chucking bombs and rushing you simultaneously. ##### T-Rex ##### Brown Blue HP: 1750 5120 STR: 40 49 POW: 1 1 END: 30 55 EXP: 9106 37708 Scouter Reading: The tyrannosaurus rex (commonly referred to as the T-Rex) is the largest carnivore on the planet. Although extremely dangerous, they are also very slow. General Thoughts: These guys are big, and they bite very, very hard. Thus, if you happen to come across a T-Rex and are forced to fight it, make sure you give it some room, 'cause you don't want it sinking its teeth into your backside. These guys also enjoy charging you, a la the Triceratops, so make sure you avoid his oversized battering ram of a body and continue pummelling him. Good experience from these guys no matter HOW far you are in the game, so they're a worthy investment of time; however, towards the end of the game (when you want to gain levels quicker), you'll find that the Triceratops are easier, more abundant, have less life, and yield the same EXP as the T-Rex. No need to bother with these guys if you don't have to, then... ##### Triceratops ##### Orange Brown HP: 275 870 STR: 20 40 POW: 1 1 END: 2 40 EXP: --- 37708 Scouter Reading: These dinosaurs are herbivores, but can be extreme aggressive, especially when it comes to territory. Their head frills protect them from attack, and their horns are a dangerous weapon. General Thoughts: Mostly irritating, the Triceratops tend to do little else but attempt to ram you. If you are close enough, they will attempt a headbutt with their horns, but they usually stick to charging madly at you. Early on in the game, you will encounter several Triceratops that you cannot harm, and instead must avoid the roving packs. Later on in the game, however, you will encounter much more powerful versions, providing some of the nicest experience in the game. Want to build levels? Then these guys are right up your alley. ##### Warlord's Henchman ##### Red Cap Blue Cap HP: 90 900 STR: 2 10 POW: 8 30 END: 6 26 EXP: 325 9106 Scouter Reading: These henchmen are what's left over from the army of the defeated Warlord who once ruled the outskirts of West City Hercule (Mr. Satan) is reported to have defeated ths Warlord. General Thoughts: Frustrating blokes, to a certain degree...these fellas walk around with rocket launchers, and - upon siting one of our heroes - will begin firing off shells in order to cripple your character. Interesting, how these guys automatically knew they'd need some heavy artillery just to ensure their ability to harm the Z-Senshi...too bad the rockets are taken out with a single Ki blast, and a few more will destroy the moron behind the trigger. Take note, kiddies - if you're going to take on someone as strong as Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, Gokuu (ugh), or myself, then you had BETTER be sure you can finish the job. ##### Warthog ##### HP: 300 STR: 20 POW: 1 END: 14 EXP: 800 Scouter Reading: Warthogs are very dangerous boars. They can be as fierce as they are ugly. General Thoughts: Honestly, though, these guys shouldn't pose too much of a threat. As long as you aren't caught between a group of them, then you should be able to bash one to death or pelt the entire group, weakening them so that you can swing a couple of times and remove them all at once. Good experience, too. You should remember that these guys will stop and shake prior to charging at you, so if you see one vibrating, sidestep it and then pummel it as it rushes past. ##### Wolf ##### Brown Black Grey HP: 65 675 1000 STR: 8 29 65 POW: 1 1 1 END: 4 24 35 EXP: 45 1680 9106 Scouter Reading: Wolves are aggressive carnivores and often hunt in packs. General Thoughts: These guys, when you first encounter 'em, will have a fairly high amount of HP to contend with. As such, this means you'll have to wail on them just to ensure that you kill them before they can kill you. However, the amount of experience they give you better than that of snakes, so if you can deal with 1 wolf at a time, you should be levelling up in no time! _________________________________============__________________________________ B - Bosses ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ============ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Here they are: the big, the bad, the bold, the beautiful, the powerful, the sometimes irritating... bosses! In general, if it has a lifebar, then I consider it a boss - I mean, if the game is willing to specifically designate those enemies by giving them such an extra feature, then I might as well honor such programming and give them their own separate section. Eh? Yes? Agreed? ##### Furiza ##### HP: 1974 STR: 30 POW: 37 END: 20 EXP: 20 Scouter Reading: This extraterrestrial being is believed to be a powerful tyrant feared on many planets. Little is known about Frieza other than what has been discovered through the study of extraterrestrial broadcasts intercepted by Space Telescopes and other unsubstantiated reports. Frieza is believed to be dead, however this is unconfirmed. General Thoughts: Your first fight, Gohan has a daydream of meeting his father...whom promptly turns into Furiza. Gohan's best bet, during this fight, is to run from the nefarious alien and pelt him with his entire Ki bar, then switch to melee blasts and hope you can work him into a rhythm of punch-rushes and wall-bounces. ##### Boss Wolf ##### HP: 400 STR: POW: END: EXP: Scouter Reading: (See "Wolf" listing in the Enemies Section) General Thoughts: The only difference between this wolf and any other normal wolf is that it is considered a boss-type, with a lifebar and everything. It has more life than your standard wolf, and bites harder...but that's about it. Punish this foolish enemy for trying to harm you! ##### Yamcha ##### HP: 800 STR: 18 POW: 12 END: 14 EXP: --- (You receive a +3 Power Capsule instead of experience) Scouter Reading: Yamcha was once a notorious bandit, and is now a professional athlete and martial artist. His signature martial arts move is the Wolf Fang Fist. He plays baseball for the Titans. General Thoughts: Do I consider Yamcha to be a boss? Well, considering the fact that the most powerful enemy you have fought prior to facing him would be either a Purple Tiger Gang member, a Kuma Gang Member, or possibly even a Tricerotops...yeah, I think Yamcha would classify as a Boss. He goes by the standard boss-strategy, which is running around, throwing ki blasts and punching/kicking you, and generally having more than enough life to be a pain. Geez...if Piccolo and Gohan have this much trouble with Yamcha, then why is it THEY are the ones trying to save the world? Geez, give me the Desert Bandit any day over these two weaklings! ##### Krillin (Kuririn) ##### HP: 1800 STR: 23 POW: 24 END: 17 EXP: --- (You receive a +3 Strength Capsule instead of Experience) Scouter Reading: Krillin (Kuririn) is an exceptional martial artist who trained under Master Roshi (Kamesennin). Krillin is capable of performing a powerful attack called the Destructo Disk (Kienzan). The nature of this attack is unknown. However, it is reported that this attack can level a mountain top. These reports however are most likely exaggerated. General Thoughts: You thought Yamcha was bad? Well, Kuririn is much more difficult to take. He has over twice as much life, and has that annoying habit of allowing himself to be knocked just far enough away that you cannot punch-rush him. This means you have to knock him a way, then send a few Ki Blasts at him, then wait for a mistake or something that you can use to get in close. I would suggest using Ki blasts to work him near a wall, then walk diagonally around to try and get close enough to start wall-bouncing him. Go, man, go! ##### Tien (TenShinHan) ##### HP: 2110 STR: 35 POW: 29 END: 27 EXP: --- (You receive a +3 Endurance Capsule instead of Experience) Scouter Reading: Tien Shinhan (TenShinHan) is a highly skilled martial artist. Tien (Ten) has trained under Master Shen (Tsurusennin) and later under Master Roshi (Kamesennin). Tien (Ten)'s distinguishing feature is his third eye. It is believed that a third eye can be attained through intense meditation concentrating on the pineal gland. As a result Tien (Ten) has Telepathic Powers. Tien (Ten)'s signature moves are the Tri-beam Cannon and the Solar Flare. General Thoughts: Honestly, TenShinHan isn't too much more difficult than Kuririn. They both have the same features - high HP, hard hits, and they fly back far enough when struck so that you cannot easily wall-bounce them. Still, there aren't any new attacks or features to mention, so just remember that he is a strong opponent, and that you shouldn't take too many risks against 'em unless you have enough HP to back it up (should you make a mistake and get hit). ##### Triceratops King ##### HP: 850 STR: 21 POW: 1 END: 25 EXP: 1500 Scouter Reading: Triceratops King is the leader of a triceratops tribe south of West City. Recently the Triceratops King's army has been forcing farmers off of their land. He is powerful and old and has never lost a fight, even against the T-Rex. General Thoughts: This guy hits very hard, no doubt (although not as hard as Kuririn or TenShinHan), and can't be knocked out of one of his charges (which means you'd best get out of the way, mate). These, coupled with the fact that he is a big target, makes it easy for him to damage you in a hurry. However...for as much life as he has, the fact that he is large also means that he is a bigger fellow to strike. Since he is in a relatively small area (a little over 3 times as large as he is in width), you can punch him until he bounces off of one of the walls, and the bounce will carry him right back into range, so you can continue pummelling him before he can recover and charge or horn- smash you again. Works for me, eh? ##### Android 19 ##### HP: 2970 STR: 21 POW: 14 END: 11 EXP: 3410 Scouter Reading: Although appearing to be a portly clown, it is actually an Android. Scanning of this android reveals components created by Dr. Gero. Scanning of the holographic memory reveals that the primary mission of this Android is to destroy Goku and secondary mission is causing pain and suffering. This Android is equipped with an energy absorbing device capable of extracting energy from organic beings. This Android is extremely powerful and highly dangerous. General Thoughts: Important note to keep in mind when facing off against Android 19 - this fat fruitcake absorbs Ki blasts. Thus, Vegita cannot use Ki shots or his Big Bang Attack if he wishes to destroy it, since it yields green numbers instead of red. What does this mean, then? Green numbers mean you are HEALING it, so stop firing and get in close! However, this ends up being more of a blessing for Vegita...since he can't use those long-range attacks, that saves his Ki for use towards his Super Saiya-Jin power-up. Run away from #19 and power up, then run at him and wail away. If you stopped by Kamesennin's to learn the Double-Palm Smash, then pull the one-two combo (hit, buffer charge, release for a 2nd hit and tons of damage) until the robot is toast. ##### Android 20 (Dr. Gero) ##### First Fight Second, Third, and Fourth Fights HP: 2810 1900 STR: 24 25 POW: 19 21 END: 14 17 EXP: 5000 7000 (each successive win) Scouter Reading: This being is an exact visual match of the notorious scientist, Dr. Gero, however further analysis of this being reveal that it is an advanced cybernetic organism. The Android's body is purely mechanical; however, the beings's brain is organic. This Android is equipped with an energy absorbing device capable of extracting energy from organic beings. Dr. Gero is a fugitive from the law, and is extremely dangerous. Once the chief scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, he is wanted on charges of conspiracy to commit treason and murder, and unlawful experimentation on human subjects. General Thoughts: Gero is much like Android 19, in the sense that he attacks like just about any other boss-type character in the game (physical blows and the occasional Ki blast). Also, like Android 19, Gero cannot be harmed by Ki blasts, instead gaining life from such attacks he comes in contact with. This makes the fight very difficult for Piccolo and Gohan, so if you wish to use them in the fight, take care...Gero is VERY powerful, and can kill someone below level 20 with a few quick blows. Vegita can once again go SSj to beat down the evil cyborg; however, the terrain is very open and Gero is quick enough so that you cannot simply run away and try to power up to Super Saiya-Jin (he will knock you out of it). If you want to go SSj, do so and THEN use the fly-spot to move to the fight against Gero; for Piccolo and Gohan, I would highly suggest that you go build up their levels to at least 22, or else the fight could be very short and very painful. ##### Android 18 ##### HP: 2910 STR: 29 POW: 34 END: 27 EXP: 8000 Scouter Reading: Although this being appears to be a teenage girl, it is actually an Android. Scanning of this Android reveals components created by Dr. Gero. Scanning of the holographic memory reveals that the primary mission of this Android is to destroy Goku(u) and secondary mission is causing suffering and pain. The neural net structure of this being shows a high capacity for independent thought, making her highly unpredictable. This Android is extremely powerful and highly dangerous. General Thoughts: Again, another boss-type that walks around, firing off Ki blasts and using physical attacks when in close. Although # 18 has a lot of life, she is vulnerable to Ki attacks (unlike the previous two Androids); thus, you can pelt her with Ki blasts for a good while, until you have to get in close again. Her lifebar only drops to 1/2 in order to win the match, but it's still plenty of damage that has to be done. My personal suggestion is to use Piccolo, then bash her away from you, switch to the Mankaksopoppo, then drain as much life as you can (she'll usually be pushed offscreen); from here, run back, bash her back onscreen, and continue. Be careful, though, as she his VERY hard. ##### Imperfect Cell ##### HP: 5210 STR: 32 POW: 32 END: 27 EXP: Scouter Reading: This being resembles no known species of animal or any type of technology. Analysis of the cellular structure of this being reveals evidence of artificial genetic engineering. Extraterrestrial origin may be possible. The body of this creature is covered in a thick carapace. The calcerous exoskeleton of this being is unusually hardy, and is possibly resistant to most forms of attack, including gunfire and explosives. The scorpion-like tail of this creature absorbs life energy. Approach with extreme caution. General Thoughts: Imperfect Cell employs the fabled Kamehame-Ha ability during this fight, which allows him to drill you back towards a wall, all the while damaging you. Unfortunately, this means that he is going to be able to easily halt you from powering up in his presense, and - even more so - you won't be able to break free until he stops firing. Thankfully, he doesn't lay into you for long, which allows you to resume your beating of his oversized hide. As with most bosses, he ends up flying backwards a little bit further than your average enemy, which means your traditionals punch-rush won't work (unless you feel like trying to dash instead of walk, which can still get you nailed if you blow the timing). Piccolo's Mankaksopoppo is your best bet here, I daresay. ##### Android 17 ##### HP: STR: POW: END: EXP: Scouter Reading: ... General Thoughts: ... ##### Semi-Perfect Cell ##### HP: STR: POW: END: EXP: Scouter Reading: ... I would suggest moving diagonally to get near him, or chuck a few Ki blasts and then rush him while he is reeling from the blasts. From there, it's a pummel-fest, so get to it! Analysis indicates that Oolong is smarter than the average swine. ~~~Puar~~~ HP: 24 STR: 2 POW: 1 END: 1 Scouter Reading: This creature is often seen with the martial artist, Yamcha. Puar has the ability to fly and shapeshift. Here, you'll find yourself wading through dozens upon dozens of sidequests and special agendas, from item retrieval to rescuing lost folk to good ol' fashioned skull cracking. Before I hit the quests, however, I should not that I don't really have any particular order with which I can put these in (aside from Chronological)...so here are the quests of the game, placed in the order in which you come across 'em. If a listed quest is not required towards furthering your progress in the game, then I shall give the walkthrough for such a quest in this section of the game rather than the main walkthrough (so as to spare the readers from having to sift through a bunch of junk just to move onward in the game). Since 90% of the quests in this game are self-explanitory and/or required for the furtherment of the main plot, that means I'll have to list very little information here aside from quest names and such. Each quest is "rated" by how important they are - a Gold Star next to the quest (in the logbook) means that it is essential to the plot, Silver Stars mean it is a secondary joint that you should probably accomplish (usually a sub-quest required to completing a larger, Gold Star quest), and Bronze Stars mean that the quest isn't that important. 100% sidequest, in other words. However, you can't simply list those quests as per each category, since certain Quests can change in priority based off of how far in the game you are. Before, saving a bunch of children might have seemed like a sidequest; suddenly, you find that it is required to further the plot, and moves up from Bronze to Gold. Understand? Good. Find it here! ________________________________=============__________________________________ A - Secrets ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ=============ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ~~~The Hidden Character~~~ Ok, so you've played through the game and seen several doors that required a certain character to be at a certain level just to surpass them. Through your adventures, you probably have seen a couple of doors that had the rather ominous requirement of "50" as the level. Daunting, yes? Well, there is something to be had by breaching each sacred level - by doing so, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegita, and Trunks will discover Statues of their own likeness, awaiting their collection. Upon nabbing them, our plucky heroes will automatically deposit the statues on one of the 5 Pedestals located within Capsule Corp (in the atrium, next to the fountain). Gokuu, as you'll notice, does not have a level 50 door; instead, you simply have to beat Cell with Gokuu at level 50, and his statue will automatically appear and replace Gokuu (whom is now dead) as the 5th Man on your team. So what about the hidden character, then? Well, once everyone has their statue, the hidden character arise...and it's Mr. Satan (Hercule). He has pathetically weak stats, but is humorous enough to make due. He uses a Rocket Pack to fly, has his mouth wide open when running, and sports only 1 special attack - his "Super Taunt". This "attack" stuns every enemy in the area for a short period of time (EVERYTHING, even if it's not onscreen), allowing the weak little human to wail on an enemy or two. Mr. Satan also has his own special Level 50 door, located in the Television Station in West City.
