The Ultimate "Quest: Brian's Journey" FAQ by: Jedi276 - Jedi276@hotmail.com This FAQ was started on May 8, 2000, approximately two hours after purchasing the game. This is my first FAQ, and im not even sure how often i will update it. This game can be found on the GameBoy Color, but is ordinary GameBoy compatible, its price ranges around $19.99, and is well worth it. I am going through the game for my first time, so it might take a while to complete the walkthrough section of this FAQ. Some may ask why i am bothering to make an FAQ on this game, many consider this game to not be very good, but i am an avid fan of both this game and Quest64. Upon discovering the lack of FAQs regarding this game, in fact there were none, i decided to be the one to make The Ultimate "Quest: Brian's Journey" FAQ 1.Updates 2.Items 3.Spells 4.Enemies 5.Spirit Locations 6.Gaining Levels 7.Walkthrough 8.Lottery Info/Items 9.Info/Thanks _________________________________________________________________________________________ 1.Updates _________________________________________________________________________________________ 12/1/2000 -Finished the Walkthrough(I think...) -Finished the Enemies section(I think...) -Finished the Spirits Locations section(I think...) -Added a name to the Thanks section 5/20/2000 -Added more to the walkthrough -Added more to the enemies section -Added more to the spirit locations section 5/19/2000 -Added more to the walkthrough -Added more to the enemies section -Added more to the spirit locations section 5/14/2000 -Added more to the walkthrough -Added more to the enemies section -Added more to the spirit locations section 5/8/2000 -Started the thing -Put in all the items -Put the walkthrough in up to the Earth Orb -Added all enemies that are encoutered up to the Earth Orb -Put in all the spells -Put in spirit locations up to the Earth Orb -Put in the thanks/info section -Put in the information regarding leveling up -Put in about 4 hours on this FAQ _________________________________________________________________________________________ 2.Items _________________________________________________________________________________________ Spirit Light - In this game, you must use the skills you want to build. If you want to be stronger, use your staff more, if you want more defense/hp, get hit more, if you want more agility, dodge more hits, if you want more MP, use your magic more, etc. ________________________________________________________________________________________ 7.Walkthrough ________________________________________________________________________________________ Getting the Earth Orb When you start out, go to the left of the castle into the hut where your dad, Bart, is. In the hut, get the spirit floating left of Bart. Leave the hut and take the path to town. When you get to town, go south and take a first right, and go into the pasture where the sheep are. Here, get the spirit. Go talk to the girls to the immediate left of the pasture, then go into the hut in the pasture. In the hut, beat Tim by simply repeated use of the staff. After the battle, return to the castle. When Grand Abbot is done talking, go down the stairs to the main floor, and go talk to Cerius. When Cerius finishes talking, search the castle head to toe and get all the items, you just might need them. Return to town and talk to everyone, make sure to get the wings from the house with the wierd blue symbol above it. After this, leave town and LEVEL UP. After leveling up for a while, follow the path, and when you reach a fork in the road go up, to the town, down will take you to Connor Forest, you will go there later. When you arrive at the town, go get the wings from this town and rest. After you have rested, go to the castle, go upstairs on the right side, go up a little, then go far right. In this room there is a spirit, get it. Then, go the the left side and into the room and overhear Flora's conversation. Now, you must fight two Kobolds and a Goblin. The Goblin is much stronger than the Kobolds, so attack the Goblin first. After the battle, explore the castle and get all the items you can find. After your search, leave the castle and go to the bottom left corner of town, where you will find another spirit. Now leave town, go to Connor Forest, and LEVEL UP. While you are leveling up in Connor Forest, look for items and three spirits, but do not go in the fort or the cave. When you have found all the items, and are feeling all might, proceed to the cave in the upper left corner of the forest. When you are far enough in the cave, you will reach Solvaring, Water Pillar Lv2 does quite a bit of damage. After defeating Solvaring, you will return to the castle, when the king is done speaking, you will have...the EARTH ORB!! Now go to the treasure room behind the throne, get the items and the spirit here. Getting the Mermaid Orb The exit of this area is the locked door in Connor Forest, when you arrive here, go to the cave where Solvaring was, and get the spirit and two treasure chests here. Now proceed to the locked door, which you will find is now open. Go through the door and get the spirit that is visible immediatly outside the door. Proceed to the south end of this area where you will find a house and a boat, all the while searching for the 3 spirits i have found in this area. Enter the house and talk to Shannon. Then talk to the other man in the inn, he will take you on a boat. On the boat you will have to fight Kiliac, who is fairly tough. Now go to Larapool, it is a long way and the enemies can be tough, but you should make it. When you arrive in Larapool, talk to the first lady you come across and agree to go get the crystal for her. When you are put in the valley, go back into the little area of town and get all the spirits you can find, there should be 3 of them. Now work your way to the upper left part of the water cave to a dead end, where Brian will be washed away by a title wave and put into Crystal Valley, and you have the Mermaid Orb. Getting the Wind Orb Leave Larapool and go south to the fork in the road. Now go left here to get to Cull Hazard. Follow the path, getting the spirit, until you reach the cave. LEVEL UP, I had 21 spirits in each crystal before going all the way through Cull Hazard. Work your way through Cull Hazard to the upper right corner, getting the spirit and treasure chest along the way. When you get out of Cull Hazard and walk along the path, you will fight the dragon. The dragon is really easy when you use fire magic on him. After defeating the dragon, proceed to Normoon. In Normoon find the three spirits, and get all the treasures from the wind mills in the top left corner. Then go to the top story of the inn, and fight Leonardo, an easy enemy. Now it is time to go to Windward Forest. Search the forest, looking for spirits, until you come across the scene with Zelse and Leonardo. Defeat Zelse using earth magic. Getting the Water Crystal Now you have to go to the Isle of Skye. While on the boat, go find the spirit and rest, then leave the cabin and you must fight the Sunfish, a very easy enemy. Go into the side room and get the spirit there, then leave the house on the Isle of Skye, and get the two spirits out there. Take the path until you get to the circle of rocks. Here, get the spirit that is under the circle, then enter the rock circle, then enter the new rock circle that you come out of, then get the spirit to the right, then return once again through the rock circle. You should now be in the cave. Follow the path in the cave and fight Nepty. Use Fire Ball lv3 on her and she should be defeated in no time. Now, return to Colleen's house and talk to Colleen. Getting the Fire Ruby After leaving Larapool, go to the boat that took you to this area, and set sail to Limelin. Follow the path to Limelin, here find the spirits and enter the castle. Here, find the spirits and talk to the queen at the top, who will tell you about Fargo. Go south now and enter the cave. The exit to the cave is in the top right corner, but you might want to get all the treasures and the spirit first. After collecting treasures and the spirit in the second part of the cave, go to the bottom and meet, and fight, Lavaar. Use Wind Cutter Lv3 on him and it will do immense damage. After defeating Lavaar for the time being, continue down and out of this part of the cave. In the third part of the cave, get the spirit and any treasure you can find, then go to the bottom and fight Fargo. Defeating Fargo is fairly easy, he doesnt do very much damage. Once Fargo is defeated, the Fire Ruby is yours!! Now continue down, further into this part of the cave. Now proceed through the cave, get the spirit and treasure, then leave the cave. Some Extra Stuff Go to the house you see when you exit the cave and get the spirit there. Now go south through the desert into the rocky area, here, find the spirits and enter the ruins. There is not much in this beat up old town. Now, go to the bottom right area of this place and stand on the platform. In this area there are loads of items and spirits, make sure to get all of em! After you get the items and spirits, proceed to the top of the area. After you have everything you are done, leave the place and go to the lower left corner of the desert area and enter the cave here. In this cave, find all the treasure chests and the spirit, then find the exit in the mid left side of the cave. Along the path, keep your eyes out for spirits, there's a bunch of them. Make sure to stop by Bation's house to get all the treasures and the spirit. Eventually, you should arrive in Brannoch. Look around here, there arnt any spirits or treasures. When you are ready, proceed north, out of the town and onto the path to the castle. When you get to the castle, you have to enter through the back of it. Here, you will have to beat Lavaar two times, the first time he is pretty easy, the second time can be difficult, so use Wind Cutter Lv3. Im pretty sure you leave the castle now, I don't remember what happened, but I ended up out in the world somehow. If you know what happened here or if I am missing a part of the game, let me know, I stopped playing the game for a little bit and I believe I forgot to write something here when I left off. Getting/Fixing the Mirror Once you are back in the overworld, go back to that area that had all the items, the one where you had to go on the platform to get to. Go up in the castle, get all the items you left on the way, enter the room at the top, and you will have to fight Shilf. Use Rock magic on Shilf, after you have beat her, you will get the mirror and decide to head to Dondoran. Exit the area, once you are back in the desert, use your wings to go to Dondoran. Once you get to Dondoran, go to the upper left area of the town and go into one of the houses to talk to Clay. He will tell you he needs a scale of a dragon to repair the mirror, time to go to Cull Hazard. Leave the town and use the wings to go to Normoon, leave the town and head north and into the cave. Talk to the dragon and you will have to fight him for the scale. When you are fighting the dragon, use Fire magic to kill him off, he is pretty easy. Now exit the cave and use wings to go to go to Dondoran. Go and talk to Clay again. You will get the mirror fixed and a little scene will happen. Finishing the Game When you gain control you will be in Brannoch castle fighting Guilty. Defeat Guilty, he is pretty easy, then follow the path to the throne. Now you will have to fight Beigus. After you beat Beigus, follow the path and go up to the big stone and you will be teleported. You will get the Eletale Book from Shannon, then you will be teleported again. Follow the simple path and eventually you will get to a house. Enter the house then leave it and you will be in a different place. Go up the steps and into the door at the top, then follow the next path to the next door. Now you will be in the same place as the first checkered path, go the same ways and go through the same door, and now you will be in a dark town. Go north and through the large gates, then follow this path to the next door. You will have a little scene and will have a chance to get your health and mp restored. Now follow the next path and you will finally be at Mammon. Mammon is one tough cookie, good luck in beating him, Wind magic seems to work the best. The ending is pretty decent for a gameboy game, it doesn't have any flashy graphics or anything, but it wraps up some stuff(Shannon) and then you get to see how all the towns are doing while the credits are rolling. ________________________________________________________________________________________ 9.Lottery Info/Items ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Lottery is located in Limelin, in this lottery you can use your spirit gemstones to enter and win items, some that you cant find anywhere else. After entering the Lottery, you must wait a while, walking around in the outside world, for about five minutes or so, it varies. Then, if you win, you must wait for the item to be delivered.
