Walkthrough -------------- ---Zanarkand--- Tidus, a star Blitzball player for the Zanarkand Abes, is off to a game. He stops to give people autographs then runs off to the stadium where the crowd goes nuts over him. During the game a man walks along the road with a wake of destruction behind him, destroying the city. His name is Auron and after things are all disrupted, Tidus runs to catch up to him. A thing called Sin is destroying everything and its minions are attacking. Auron will hand you Jecht's sword to use, simply fight off the ones in front of you and continue on. After defeating a few of the Sinscales, you'll run into a bigger enemy. - Sinspawn Ammes Just keep slashing at it until he goes down, you can use the Overdrive techniques against it and normal attacks. You can see how close you are to defeating it by looking at the antennae on its head, which disappear after each hit. One they are all gone you hit it one more time and its dead. Use the save point behind it then continue forward. A large group of Sinscales surround you, aim for the Tanker off to the side. Once the tanker falls it creates a very impressive explosion and nearly engulfs you. When you get control of Tidus, use O to float above the platform, when you wake up the next time, you are in a very strange place... ---Ruins--- - Items 200 gil Ether Hi-Potion x2 Key: Flint Key: Withered Bouquet Potion x2 X-Potion To your right (northeast) is a set of steps you can go up. On the wall is writing in a language called Al Bhed, behind that is a chest containing 200 gil. Go across the water to your left and up onto another platform and look at the glowing thing on the ground, it will give you an intro to Al Bhed primers. When you are finished reading that, go across the little bridge to find a chest with Potion x2 in it. Head up to the red arrow on the north part of the map and use the save point. Go north across the bridge and take the first left, which will earn you a Hi-Potion. Go back and continue on across the bridge, it crumbles beneath your feet and you fall into the water. Swim down and Tidus is attacked by Sahagin, before the last is killed a much larger beast eats it and sets his sites on you. - Geosgueno Do normal attacks on it over and over, before it finishes you off, it swims after Tidus, chasing him around. Tidus will make a narrow escape, go up the steps and into a big circular room. There are a few doors in here, and you'll notice some campfire wood in the center. Take the southeast door next to the save point, inside is Flint. Go to the northeast door (the locked one), next to it is a chest with an X-Potion inside. Enter the north door, right below when you enter is a chest containing and Ether. Go up the steps and examine the vase on the wall to get the Withered Bouquet, and keep going up on the balcony where there is a Hi-Potion in a chest. Go downstairs and light the fire. After a short flashback, a Klikk attacks you. A few shots into the fight the locked door bursts open revealing a crew of four armed people. The girl helps you out in battle, use her Grenades (use Steal to get more). For winning the battle you get an Ability Sphere, then the crew starts talking in Al Bhed. She knocks you out and Tidus wakes up on a boat. ---Salvage Ship--- - Items Potion x3 Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. I When you control Tidus, talk to the girl and she gives you a somewhat lengthy tutorial on the Sphere Grid. Talk to the top left man to get Potion x3, then pick up an Al Bhed Primer vol. 1 located to the right of the save point. Save your game then talk to the girl and you'll go to work. Dive down into the water and follow the chain up to the red arrow on your map, examine the screen and head down the corridor. Light up the thing in the center of the room and head back to be ambushed by a large sea creature. - Tros In this battle you learn two new battle options: Standby and Pincer Attack. Use normal attack with Tidus and Grenades with the girl, she can steal more if she runs out. When the squid moves to the other side of the room, go on Standby, when it does it the second time use Pincer Attack. It should be a quick fight, when you are done exit the place and swim down to see a sunken ship. You'll return to the deck of the salvage boat and the girl, named Rikku, will bring you a tray of food. She informs Tidus that Zanarkand was destroyed 1,000 years ago, leaving him in disbelief. Suddenly Sin appears out on the water and Tidus is swept into a whirlpool in the Unknown Sea. ---Besaid--- - Items 800 gil Antidote x4 Ether Hi-Potion x2 Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. II Key: Moon Crest Phoenix Down Potion x2 Remedy Seeker's Ring When he wakes up a Blitzball flies at him and knocks him in the head. When you get control of Tidus, swim to the right and a Moon Crest can be found on a small beach. Go up to the Blitzball players and you'll meet Wakka, the local coach for the Besaid Aurochs. Go left to find Antidote x2 in a chest next to the boats then talk to Wakka. He gives you some history on Sin, then you may enter the village via getting thrown into the water. Swim under and there is a Hi-Potion in a chest to your right, and Antidote x2 along the way to the village. Wakka asks you to join the team for an upcoming tournament and Tidus agrees. When you are on the hilly area go right one screen and save your game. Go back left and into the village, after a little prayer help you can explore on your own. Sitting outside the Item Shop is a Phoenix Down, and right above it behind some grass is 400 gil, Potion x2, and a Hi-Potion. Enter the temple and look at the statue of the summoner then go into Wakka's tent. Take a nap and when you wake up, head back to the temple. When you run up the steps inside the room, read each of the walls and go downstairs. Take the glyph and put it in the door, in the next area you must read the wall across from the glyph slot. Take the Besaid Sphere from the room and put it into the slot right across from you. Push the pedestal straight up into the slot and Wakka will join up and take you downstairs. A girl comes out and says she has become a summoner, now exit the temple and go into the town circle. The girl summons a winged beast named Valefor, this is the first aeon you encounter. After a pep talk with the Blitzball team, the new summoner named Yuna, has a short chat with you. When you wake up the next morning, get the Al Bhed Primer vol. II from inside, then go outside and Wakka, Lulu, Yuna will join up. Notice you have some new things such as an Aeon option in the menu, and you get a sword from Wakka. You'll exit to the hills (heading for the pier on the beach) and along the way Wakka and crew give you some pointers on Magic and Elements. Save after you pray to the statue and continue down the path. A very large thing jumps at you and attacks. - Kimahri Ranso Just hit it a few times and the fight will be broken up by Yuna and the others, apparently this guy is a guardian of Yuna. You get a Metal Armguard for your efforts and as you keep going down the path you'll have more tips about switching members in battle, Aeons, and you'll get a Magical Mog from this fight. When you make it to the beach, talk to the people to get the following items: 400 gil, Seeker's Ring, Ether, Remedy. Board the boat and it's off to Kilika. ---S.S. Liki--- - Items Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. III Potion x11 Remedy The boat is heading for the seaside town of Kilika, after a little fun with the binoculars you are free to explore the ship. Go downstairs into the power room where you'll find Al Bhed Primer vol. III. Go back and enter the door on the left, there is a Remedy in the chest and if you keep kicking the box you'll get Potion x11. Head on deck and talk to Yuna, she'll reveal that Tidus' father hadn't died, but was a guardian to her father the high summoner. Suddenly the boat is shaken violently and Sin appears from the water. It's heading for Kilika to and you must distract it. - Sin You'll have to aim for Sin itself, which has 2,000 HP. Use your Aeon 'Valefor' with Yuna, keep attacking with it and its Overdrive should be sufficient to take Sin down....for now. Tidus is swept into the water and Wakka follows after him, after giving a potion the two are attacked again. - Sinspawn Echenilles More than likely a few Potions will need to be used in this battle, make sure to use it whenever you health is low. It does an attack called Blender, which will take off a good amount of HP from both, and the little Sinscales will pelt you numerous times. Just aim for the Sinspawn and forget about the Sinscales, the big one is the main target to take out. Just keep blasting away at it and it'll die in a short time, an Ice Moomba and Liquid Steel is obtained after defeating it. Once the battle is over the boat will arrive at Kilika, now destroyed because of Sin. ---Kilika--- - Items Elixir Ether Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. IV Luck Sphere Mana Sphere x2 NulBlaze Shield Scout Right when you walk off, Yuna runs to do a thing called "sending", basically guiding the spirits of the dead so they can rest in peace. Leave the inn when you wake up and go left to save a little girl from a falling structure. Go into the pub to find Al Bhed Primer vol. IV and grab the Ether from the chest. Buy equipment over at the weapon/armor shop and talk to Wakka. Follow him towards the temple through the jungle. Save right when you enter and take the path leading right to get Mana Sphere x2. Take the left path and go up at the first place you come to, there is a chest containing Scout, a weapon for Wakka. Go back and take the middle now, you'll find some people and a very large monster. - Lord Ochu (4649 HP) Its probably best to have Yuna in your party for this fight, she can be the healer with her Cure and Esuna spells. Use Valefor also, which will take off a good chunk of its HP, especially if its Overdrive is used. Switch party members if needed and just keep hitting, shouldn't be a very hard fight. After it is defeated, talk to the crusader right near where Ochu was to get an Elixir, and walk all the way up the middle path for a Luck Sphere. Find the crusader left of Ochu and he will give you a NulBlaze Shield, then head up the far right path to the top. Head up the steps and save along the way, the team will run back down saying something was at the top of the steps. Surprise! Another boss fight. - Sinspawn Geneaux (3,000 HP) - Sinspawn's Tentacle (450 HP ea.) Your first targets should be taking out the tentacles, which will block all magic damage from hitting the body of it. These are very easy to kill, once they are dead, hit the body with a spell. It will come out of its protective shell and is now vulnerable to magic attacks. Use the same tactics as with the fight against Lord Ochu, heal with Yuna, basic attacks for all except Lulu, who should use her spells. Use either Antidotes or Esuna for any member that gets poisoned, killing the poison is much easier than healing them repeatedly. Head up towards the temple and a rival Blitzball team, the Luca Goers, come out. After a short exchange you can enter the temple and up the steps inside. Everyone but you is allowed to go down as you aren't a guardian yet. Lady Dona and her bodyguard will come in and decide to have a little fun, they put you on the elevator and it goes down. Enter the door and follow these directions to find the rest of your party: 1. Take Kilika Sphere and put it in the door, take it out again. 2. Put Kilika Sphere into the next door and touch the glyph. 3. Take Glyph Sphere and put it on the door in the fire room. 4. Take Kilika Sphere and put it in the door in the north part of the room, then take it out. Go up and meet the rest of your party, they are a little less than happy to see you. Yuna will come out and you'll have a new Aeon, "Ifrit". Go back to the docks at the village and board the ship to Luca. ---S.S. Winno--- - Items Hi-Potion Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. V After Tidus stands up, there is a Hi-Potion in the same room, pick it up and head on deck. Go into the control room to find Al Bhed Primer vol. V, then go downstairs and save your game. At the head of the ship on the deck is a blitzball, examine it and you'll have one chance to complete a shot. - The Jecht Shot Challenge Tidus will remember a moment from his childhood where his father made a pretty amazing blitzball shot. Your challenge is to remember this by pushing a series of commands where the words pop up. After a short practice session with this, the challenge begins. You must hit the commands in the order they appear, and before Tidus finishes the shot. Not making it will cause him to fail the move. + ex. If the words 'You're out of your league kid' appear at the top left of the screen, you must push up/left + X. Keep doing this with the words around the screen and Tidus will make the kick. After a talk with Yuna, the ship will arrive at Luca and you're off to the Blitzball tournament! ---Luca--- - Items 1,600 gil Hi-Potion x2 HP Sphere Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. VI Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. VII Magic Sphere Phoenix Down x2 Tidal Spear Stepping off the ship, the announcer doesn't seem to have any faith in the Aurochs and gives a less than enthusiastic intro for them. After he is done speaking, head to the other deck where you'll find Mika and Maester Seymore. The scene switches to the team's locker room where Wakka bursts in with good news. The Aurochs have been seeded, meaning they only need two victories to take the championship and the first match is against the Al Bhed Psyches. Here you will get an extremely long Blitzball Tutorial (if you need it), so grab a bottle of Snapple and some pretzels because you'll be here for a while. When you get control of Tidus, head out of the locker room and into the other one on your left. In here is Hi-Potion x2, once you've got that, go back out and head to the left path. There are 5 docks around the stadium, here are their contents: Dock 1: 600 gil, Tidal Spear Dock 2: Phoenix Down x2 Dock 3: the Maester's ship Dock 4: --- Dock 5: HP Sphere, Magic Sphere After circling the docks, head down from the area in front of the locker rooms and Tidus will find Yuna and teach her to whistle. Take the pathway going up when you get control of him again, this leads you to the theater. An Al Bhed Primer vol. VII is there, get it and go back to where you just came from. Go right this time, a weapon/armor shop is right of you and when you've finished shopping, head up the right staircase. Pick up the 1,000 gil from the chest and head back down into the circle. Go up the middle path and into the bar, some old "friends" occupy Kimahri and Yuna is kidnapped by the Psyches. They want you to throw the game in exchange for her safe return. The first game for the Aurochs has started, but you must go get Yuna. Head back to the locker room area, go into the rival's one and pick up Al Bhed Primer vol. VI on the ground and go back out. Go to your left around the docks, along the way you'll have to fight some machina. Save at the save point and head onto the deck, the boat is trying to leave but Tidus and friends jump on. A big machine is sitting on the deck, naturally you must battle it. - Oblitzerator (6,000 HP) When you begin you'll notice a new option to use for this fight, Trigger Command. Before using the crane, just attack the Oblitzerator with Tidus and Kimahri (using Overdrive if it's available) and use Thunder with Lulu on the crane. After she hits it 3 times with Thunder then let Tidus use the crane, it will take off 3,000+ HP and make this fight a lot easier. Shouldn't be to difficult after that hit, just normal attacks will do. Yuna will be free after killing the boss and you'll find out that she is Al Bhed. Lulu reminds you that the match is going on and you rush back to see the Aurochs win the first match. Head to your locker room. Save first, then talk to Wakka and the Blitzball match will begin! Remember all your 'training' from the tutorial earlier, you'll need it. The Goers aren't impossible to defeat, but they are extremely hard. It really doesn't make a difference win or lose. When you get the ball just make sure you set it so you are in control, leaving it on auto will more than likely lead you to a loss. The game is very unbalanced. After the game is over, a large number of Sahagin Chief surround the pool. Defeat them all and it switches over to Auron who can take out enemies with ease. Auron and your group are surrounded and more enemies are coming, Maester Seymore will lend a hand with his extremely powerful (and very impressive) Aeon. Once all is done, go up to where you found the 1,000 gil earlier, Tidus and Auron have a chat where it is revealed that Sin is actually Jecht, Tidus' father. Auron becomes Yuna's guardian and now it's off to the temple at Djose. ---Highroad--- - Items 2,600 gil Antidote x6 Echo Ring Ether Eye Drops x3 Fortune Sphere Heat Lance Hi-Potion x4 Hunter's Spear Ice Brand Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. VIII Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. IX Key: Mars Crest Lv. 1 Key Sphere Mega-Potion x2 Red Ring Remedy Scout Soft x3 Thunder Blade Talk to all of the people you see along this part, there are many free items to gain here. In this first area, the items you can get from people are: Hunter's Spear, Antidote x2, Hi-Potion. There is an Ice Brand in the chest behind the ruins. Also, use Kimahri's 'Lancet' on the Bomb and Dual Horn enemies to learn two new skills. To your right you'll meet a woman named Belgemine who will challenge Yuna to an Aeon dual. Make sure you have Overdrive on Valefor first, then accept her challenge. Start by doing the Overdrive, Ifrit's attacks in a pattern: normal attack, Meteor Blast, normal attack, Meteor Blast, etc. Use Shield whenever its going to do Meteor Blast and hit it with Water when you don't have an Overdrive to use. After you defeat it Belgemine will praise you and give you an Echo Ring. Continue on over the hill. In this part the people give you: Soft x3, Red Ring. There is a Remedy in the chest on your left, head to the next area. Here the people give: Lv. 1 Key Sphere, 600 gil, Antidote x4, Ether, Hi-Potion. 2,000 gil is found in a chest on your right, and Eye Drops x3 at the top of the area. Go up and you'll come to the Agency where after a quick nap, go outside and talk with Yuna. She mentions Sin and "The Final Summoning" which can be found at the end of the pilgrimage she's on. Go inside, sleep, then try to walk outside and the owner of the agency comes in. He gives you Al Bhed Primer vol. VIII, and Mega-Potion x2. A yell comes from outside, the chocobos are being attacked! - Chocobo Eater (10,000 HP) The Chocobo Eater is a little different from the other battles you've encountered so far, it can push you backwards and off a cliff. To prevent this you must knock him down and push him back by attacking him. A good start is to have both of your summons used on him, then hit him with basic attacks and spells. The summons will take off a majority of its HP, and it shouldn't be much trouble to take the rest off. For defeating the Chocobo Eater you get a free chocobo rental, hop on it and head onto the path. Just across the second wood bridge, stand a little left of the stone post, the chocobo will fly up and get you a Heat Lance from the chest. Al Bhed Primer vol. IX can be found a little bit before Shelinda. There are other locations where hidden items may be found, they are in these places: Oldroad South on the little path touch the yellow feather on the ground (Fortune Sphere), Oldroad South beyond the save point (Mars Crest), Oldroad North right before exit to Oldroad South (Thunder Blade, Scout). Go back to the exit where Dona is, you can find Hi-Potion x2 in a chest. As the group is leaving you can make a donation. -Gil -Item 100 Scout 1,000 Ice Lance 10,000 Moon Ring ---Mushroom Rock--- - Items 1,400 gil Ether Hi-Potion x4 Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. X Mega-Potion x2 Phoenix Down x2 Potion x10 Remedy Serene Armlet X-Potion Once again, make sure you talk with all of the people you see so you can gain a few free items. In the first area you get: Ether, Phoenix Down x2, Hi-Potion x2. Step on the platform to go up, talking to a person here gets you Potion x10. 1,000 gil, Remedy, Hi-Potion can be found in chests along the way. Go up on the next platform, the people give: X-Potion, 400 gil. On your left is a platform that goes down to a chest containing a Serene Armlet, go back up and there is a platform at the top going up. Before taking it, grab the Al Bhed Primer vol. X that is left of the platform, then head up. After getting a Mega-Potion off a person, talk with Luzzu and save. Take the lift up to the command center where Wakka displays his anger for the use of machina. A Mega-Potion can be found in a chest here, talk with Kinoc and the battle will begin. - Sinspawn Gui (12,000 HP) - Head (4,000 HP) - Arms (800 HP ea.) You'll notice that doing basic attacks against Gui will be blocked by its arms, to get around this you must attack its head. Using Fira with Lulu is very helpful here, taking out the head should be your first objective. Killing the arms is a temporary thing as they can regenerate after a few turns. Summons (especially their Overdrive) are an excellent choice, make sure they don't die so Yuna will be able to use Grand Summon with them. This battle is moderately tough, won't cause to much of a problem though. After the Sinspawn is defeated, the troops launch an attack at Sin who will devastate the forces using a powerful attack. Seymore will fight along with you for the next battle. - Sinspawn Gui (6,000 HP) - Head (1,000 HP) - Arms (800 HP ea.) Seymore's attacks are very strong, just use Fire on the head a couple times to kill it, then simply aim for the body of it. Extremely easy fight here, you'll get a huge amount of experience for beating it and a few Lv. 1 Key Spheres. When you get control of Tidus again, there is a Hi-Potion behind Lulu, talk with Auron and head up to your waiting group. Kimahri will actually talk to you here, and even smile....or attempt to at least. Go up and you're in the next area. ---Djose Highroad--- - Items Bright Bangle Ether Hi-Potion Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XI Mega-Potion Soft Ring Variable Steel Talk to the person walk up from behind you twice to get a Variable Steel from him, then save your game. Other items you can get from people along here are: Soft Ring, Ether, Mega-Potion, Hi-Potion. Be sure to use Lancet on the Basilisk here to gain Kimahri a new skill, 'Stone Breath'. Al Bhed Primer vol. XI can be found behind a large rock to on the left side, a Bright Bangle in a chest. Keep walking and you'll soon arrive at the temple. ---Djose Temple--- - Items 4,000 gil Ability Sphere x4 Ether Halberd Hi-Potion x2 Mega Phoenix Potion x10 Remedy Switch Hitter Walking across the bridge, you feel a pretty heavy tremor shake the ground, go up and save at the save point. Behind that hut is Ability Sphere x4, and behind the group you met on the bridge is 4,000 gil. The Temple opens up whenever a Summoner is inside, the party thinks Lady Donpa might be inside. Go in and you'll meet a new Summoner, Isaaru. After talking with him, pick up the Mega Phoenix in the right door, an Ether next to the steps, and a Remedy in the left door. Go up the steps to begin the Cloister of Trials. 1. Insert Djose Sphere x2 into the door. 2. Push the pedestal right until it is on the spot 3. Insert Djose Sphere x2 into the 2 slots on the far right. 4. Take the Sphere from the pedestal and put it in the slot just to the right of the door. 5. Insert Djose Sphere x2 into the pedestal and push it into the pit through the door. 6. Hop across, push the pedestal in, go back and touch the light. 7. Insert Djose Sphere x2 into two slots in the first room and one on the left of the door. 8. Take the platform up and push in all 5 pedestals. Head up the steps and Yuna will begin her process. Lady Dona will come in, her bodyguard shakes hands with his hero, Auron. After she is done, you have a new summon, Ixion, and you'll wake up the next morning. Go inside the hut and grab a Switch Hitter from the chest and wake up Yuna in the left room inside the temple. Head across the bridge outside, talking to the monks gets you: a Halberd, Hi-Potion x2, Potion x10. Keep going across the bridge and on to the Moonflow. ---Moonflow--- - Items 5,000 gil Antidote x4 Bomb Core x2 Dragon Scale x2 Ether Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XII Lv. 1 Key Sphere x3 Mega-Potion Summoner's Soul X-Potion Right after you come in, Shelinda will be there and you can talk with her. Behind her in a chest is Lv. 1 Key Sphere x3, proceed forward and the group meets up with the Ronsos again. After a short exchange, pick up the X-Potion just a little bit down the road in a chest. Up the hill is Lv. 1 Key Sphere x3 and keep going to find Belgemine. Once again she will challenge you to an aeon dual, she'll be using Ixion. A single Energy Ray will easily take it out, if you can't use it right now then just keep hitting it until it goes down. For winning you'll get: Dragon Scale x2, Summoner's Soul and a short tutorial about using it. Proceed and the group finds the Moonflow and everyone will talk for a short time. After the dialogue is over, Tidus gets his first look at a Shoopuf. Pick up the 5,000 gil next to the save point, buy weapons/armor then save and talk to the driver. When the Shoopuf is crossing the water, Tidus looks down and sees the remains of a sunken city. Him and Wakka talk a little about the use of machina when the Al Bhed kidnap Yuna and take her under. Wakka and Tidus jump in to save the day. - Extractor This is a very simple battle, attacks with lightning are very useful against it. When the Extractor goes up, it does an attack called Depth Charge which targets both Tidus and Wakka, luckily it won't deal much damage to them. Basic attacks can get you through this pretty easily, heal whenever needed. The Shoopuf will stop at the North Wharf to take a break. Up the ramp near where O'aka is standing is Al Bhed Primer vol. XII. Keep going left to find an Ether in a chest and a person laying next to the water. You'll probably remember her from before on the salvage ship, its Rikku! She has a chat with the other female party members and wants to become a guardian for Yuna. Go up across the little bridge and you'll get in a battle. Something is different about this one, there is a treasure chest here. Use Rikku's 'Steal' command to grab Bomb Core x2 from it then use her 'Mix' Overdrive (using the Bomb Core x2). After the battle you can keep going down the trail, this is a good place to stock up on Mega-Potions if you battle a lot and Steal from the chests. Pick up Antidote x4, Mega-Potion, and walk until the group arrives in the next village. ---Guadosalam--- - Items 3,000 gil Elixir Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XIII Light Marble x8 Mega-Potion Before exploring the town, Rikku gives a short tutorial on customizing equipment. Outside of the mansion is a Mega-Potion, check the houses to get 3,000 gil, Elixir, Al Bhed Primer vol. XIII (house left of the mansion). Inside the mansion is Seymour, he shows you what Zanarkand used to look like a thousand years ago and asks Yuna to marry him. Go out and head to the Farplane (going up the ramps, at the very top), Light Marble x8 is in a chest right when you walk inside. Keep going up and Auron, Rikku will wait as the others head inside. Tidus has some revelations about himself and Jecht, head out and Yuna does a sending on Lord Jyscal. Yuna goes to give her answer to Seymour but he's gone to Macalania (or 'Macaraena' as Tidus puts it), head out of the village after doing whatever you need to do. ---Thunder Plains--- - Items Ether Hi-Potion x2 Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XIV Phoenix Down x2 Yellow Shield Left of when you enter the Thuder Plains is a chest containing Phoenix Down x2, another in sight has Hi-Potion x2 in it. Save and continue forward. To dodge lightning bolts, hit X when the screen flashes white. Also, make sure to pray to the cauctar stones you see along the way (pressing Square), doing this will let you fight Cauctars here. As you head up, on your right behind some rocks is a Water Ball, continue forward until Rikku can't take the lightning anymore and goes into the inn/travel agency. Rikku explains her fear of thunder and lightning when Rin comes out. When he asks how your Al Bhed quest is going, reply 'Okay' and he'll give you Al Bhed Primer vol. XIV. Go see whats up with Yuna and the next day the party heads out. As you exit the inn/agency, a photographer snaps a picture of the group. You may notice a chest sitting right outside the door, this will get you prizes when you complete certain things with the lightning bolts: [Incomplete, obviously] 5 bolts dodged: X-Potion x2 10 bolts dodged: Mega-Potion x2 You can also earn things for getting hit by bolts: Fighting Spirit Award: Elixir Laying on the path right near the agency is a Yellow Shield, pick it up and head north. Past the save point after a short walk Yuna will stop the group and say that she's decided to go ahead with marrying Seymour, but will still continue on her pligrimage. Behind the area where she's talking with you is an Ether in a chest. Continue north until you exit the area. ---Macalania Woods--- - Items 3,000 gil Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XV Key: Al Bhed Primer vol. XVI Key: Jecht's Sphere Mega-Potion Phoenix Down x3 Remedy Sleepy Cait Sith There are two paths to take as you enter, the right leads to Bevelle, which will come later on, so take the left. Make sure to use 'Lancet' a Chimera sometime along the way to get the Aqua Breath Skill. A Sleepy Cait Sith can be found in a chest on your way up, also 3,000 gil and on the next screen Phoenix Down x3. Barthello will come blazing around the corner in a panic to find Dona. Apparently they've been seperated along the way and he runs off looking. Keep heading up for a mini-game. -Macalania Woods Butterfly Hunt- The rules are pretty simple on this, the object is to collect butterflies. Blue ones are what you're trying to collect, hitting a red one will result in a battle against some tougher versions of the monsters around this part. More details to come. Continue along the path, pick up a Remedy from the chest and after you reach the Save Point, talk to O'aka. Tell him 'to expensive' when he asks about his prices and you'll get some good deals. Directly to the right of him is a short little path, get the Al Bhed Primer vol. XV on it. Walk up a little and Auron will sense something, cuts a path. Walk up and, since its been a while, you'll fight a boss. - Spherimorph The Spherimorph is only weak against one element, the rest will heal him. His first form's weakness is against Blizzard so use that against him with Lulu. The Energy Ray from Valefor will deal up to 9999 damage which takes off a nice piece of its HP. Shouldn't be to hard to defeat if you've taken some time to level up before this. You pick up a Lv. 2 Key Sphere for beating it and a good amount of experience. After the Spherimorph is defeated, Tidus will find Jecht's Sphere. This is basically a document of Jecht's journey with Auron and Braska from 10 years ago. Its kind of like a video camera and after watching the whole thing, Auron will get a new Overdrive, Shooting Star. Go back to the main path and up one screen to the agency. Sitting right outside it is the Al Bhed Primer vol. XVI, go inside and save. Head out and Tromell will come to escort Yuna to the temple, but the Al Bhed have other plans. - Crawler - Negator Your first target should be taking out the Negator, use Wakka against it and it should only take 2-3 hits before being destroyed. Lightning attacks work best against Crawler, as do summons. The Mana Beam is a powerful attack it does, but you'll get a warning a few turns ahead of when it'll use it. Pretty simple boss, heal when needed and attack until its dead. Rikku and her brother have a short exchange and Wakka realizes shes Al Bhed. When they are done, Tidus and the rest hop on the Al Bhed snow mobiles and head towards the temple. Pikc up the Mega-Potion sitting right out front and then enter. ---Macalania Temple--- - Items 5,000 gil Avenger Elixir Ether Hi-Potion x2 Luck Sphere Lv. 1 Key Sphere Lv. 2 Key Sphere Phoenix Down x3 Remedy Shell Targe X-Potion x2 When inside, talk with Trommell to get a Shell Targe, then open the chests to find 5,000 gil and X-Potion x2. Inside the left door is Phoenix Down x3 in a chest, and talk to the people to get an Elixir and Ether. Go to the right door and watch the Jyscal sphere, it reveals that Seymour is evil (like you didn't see that coming) and must be stopped. Grab the Remedy x2 out of the chest and Hi-Potion x2 from the person. Go up the steps and into the Antechamber where Seymour is waiting. After some talking, you must now face Seymour. - Seymour (6,000 HP) - Guado Guardian (2,000 HP ea.) You should first try and take down the Guado Guardians, which isn't as easy as it sounds. They have Auto-Potion on so you'll need to get Rikku (and Kimahri if he has the skill) to steal Hi-Potions from them until the run out. Kill them and focus on Seymour. Get Yuna to use her magic on the party, Seymour does element attacks in this order: ice lightning, water, fire. So with Yuna, cast NulFrost, NulShock, NulTide, and NulBlaze. This protects the party from his attacks until he summons Anima. Summon ???? (which turns out to be Shiva) and try to get the Overdrive up before Anima does. It will attack, boost, attack, boost, etc. Use the Diamond Dust when you get it and Anima will be defeated. Keep hitting Seymour until he's gone, this is probably the toughest battle you've faced so far. After defeating Seymour, save and head into the Cloister of Trials. 1. Push the pedestal right, then forward (up). 2. Take the Glyph Sphere from the pillar on the top floor, insert it on in the far left slot downstairs. 3. Insert a Macalania Sphere into the pedestal, push it right. 4. Insert Macalania Spheres into the other slots so that the ice bridge forms again and you'll hear a chime. 5. Head up the ramp going to the ice bridge, and step on the light at the top of it. 6. Pull out the Macalania Sphere, then push the pedestal down the ramp. 7. Step on a light again, take the Destruction Sphere and insert it into the slot just left of the door downstairs. 8. Grab the Luck Sphere from the chest, then make the ice bridge again. As you exit, the people in the temple are very angry with you for killing Seymour and chase you out. Keep running along the path, you'll fight Guado Guardians along the way if they catch up with you. Pick up a Lv. 1 Key Sphere from the chest along the way and save your game when you make it to the save point. Head up and you'll encounter a boss. - Wendigo (18,000 HP) - Guado Guardian Naturally (being that you are in a snow enviornment), fire attacks work best against Wendigo. Ifrit is very helpful here, summon him and try to get him to use his Hell Fire overdrive, which will easily take out the guardians, and takes off a huge amount of Wendigo's HP. Make sure to kill the Guardians quick, they cast Shell, Protect, and Berserk on Wendigo, which is bad news. After beating it, he breaks the ice and the group falls underwater. Talk with each of the party members, there is a lot of dialogue here so don't fall asleep. Pick up the Lv. 2 Key Sphere in a chest behind the pointy tower, and also an Avenger left of where Auron is standing (after the first dialogue sequence). Talk some more and Tidus will wake up alone in some strange place. ---Oasis--- - Items Al Bhed Potion x8 Remedy x4 ------------- VI.
