I designed this guide to help you go through .hack//Infection with little difficulty. There are however, a few things that you should be aware of before taking a look at this guide. I don't cover any game basics within this guide, because I feel it would be a big waste of space. All the basic information that you need to know can either be found in the instruction manual or the in-game message board. If you're looking for information of the .hack series in general, or you just want to know a thing or two about a certain character in the series then please check "The Insight On Project .Hack" section, the "Character Information" section, or visit the official website at http://www.dothack.com/ I really hope that you find use in this guide, and that it helps you complete .hack//Infection with ease. If you have any questions or comments than please feel free to e-mail me at SPop6@aol.com. Please put the words "Hack" or "Infection" somewhere in the subject line. Well, I've ranted enough, let's get onto the guide. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= = 2: Dungeon Map Key = = ------------------ = =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= It would be very hard to make a walkthrough for this game without providing maps, so I decided to map out the dungeons, it's very important that you review this section before reading further. ======================================================================= =Symbol| Proper Name | Representation = ======================================================================= - S | The Letter S | Start Of The Level, Leads To Upper Level- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - D | The Letter D | End Of The Level, Leads To Lower Level - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - * | Asterisk | Entering A New Room - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - = | Equal Sign | Treasure Box - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - P | The Letter P | Magic Portal - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - B | The Letter B | Boss Fight - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - GS | Letters E & G | Ending Gott Statue - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - EGS | Letters E, G & S | Ending Gott Statue - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember that a magical portal doesn't always make monsters appear, sometimes a booby-trapped or regular treasure box will appear from them as well, although it is quite rare. Also remember that ANY room in a dungeon with a magic portal becomes a trapped room once the portal is activated, so it's either you kill the all the enemies in there or die trying. Treasure boxes that appear from portals do not have to be opened to exit the room, but I don't see why you wouldn't want to. I did not make a dungeon map for the first dungeon in the game (Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field), because I feel that the dungeon in that field was simply there to explain gameplay basics. And you also have Orca on your team, yes, it is that easy... One last thing that you should make note of that the Ending Gott Statue will either be abbreviated EGS or GS to better suit some formatting on the dungeon maps. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= = 3: Walkthrough = = -------------- = =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= The game starts up, and you are prompted to input your username and character name. After this is done you'll be sent to the main menu of "The World". Feel free to check your e-mail, some of the things they send you are quite interesting. Now start the game. Before logging into the actual game PLEASE check the Board. They give you a lot of basic information of the game mechanics. After you've read the message board simply go to the login option and start up the actual game. You'll strike up a conversation with Orca and he'll give you his member address, prior to giving you his member address, Orca will explain some more basic gameplay information. After that he'll explain the basic functions of the Chaos Gate and warp you to the "Delta Server" "Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field = ======================================================================= I don't feel that area information is needed for this field because Orca can take out every single enemy here with one hit. Anyway, once here Orca will explain the basics of the camera angle control, fields, weather conditions, maps, dungeons, chat commands and battles. At this point you'll probably want to chop off Orca's head and put it on a large pole, but the information is vital, so force yourself to listen to all of it. After Orca explains the basic game functions you'll finally be able to control Kite. Go around the field opening all the portals and watch as Orca takes out all the enemies in one hit. After you take out all the portals you can either explore the remainder of the map or go into the dungeon, the location of the dungeon is pin- pointed on your map. When you reach the first floor of this dungeon Orca will explain the difference between treasure boxes and how to disarm the booby-trapped ones. (Please take note: From this point on I will start each field and dungeon with a section break this way you know a new area or dungeon is coming, but since this is the first dungeon in the game, and it's mainly here to get you familiar with the dungeons in the game itself I didn't feel that it was necessary.) When you regain control of Kite simply head forward into the next room of this level, when you first enter this new room Kite and Orca will encounter an unknown monster never before seen. After this continue to head forward. The path will eventually split, take the right path and go into this room. Open the treasure chest you find here and obtain a Speed Charm. Exit this room and this time take the left path. Continue along and you'll eventually reach the second floor of the dungeon, B2. Now, simply head forward into a new room, you'll eventually reach a 3- way crossroad. Choose the right path to encounter a few enemies and to grab a healing potion out of the treasure box. Exit this room and head into the left path, fight off the enemies here with Orca and grab the resurrect from the treasure box, you can also disarm the booby-trapped treasure box in this room for another item. Finally head out of this room and take the northern path. This is the room where the dungeon's statue resides, grab the numerous goodies in the treasure box in front of the statue and exit this room. A cutscene will commence; I thoroughly enjoyed this one. :) After the cutscene Kite will go over what happened in the real world and you'll be brought to the desktop of "The World". (Also referred to as the main menu.) While here check your e-mail to find out the CC Corporation has been experiencing technical difficulties. Gee, could it be because there game is putting their players into comas? Now sign into the game and check the message board. Kite will post a message about Yasuhiko (Orca) and his condition. Now leave the board and return to the main menu. While here check your e-mail to discover that some un-known person has e-mailed you, you won't be able to read it, so just keep a mental note of it and login to the actual game. When you login to the world again you'll encounter BlackRose. Yeah... I also think she's annoying. Anyway, after the cutscene you may want to go around town (Mac Anu) and trade with a few people to get a better weapon and better armor. You're going to need it for later on. After you're done exploring the town try to investigate the Chaos Gate. When doing so BlackRose will stop you, she will give you her member address as long with a new keyword. Invite BlackRose to join your party and head to the "Delta Server" "Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground = ======================================================================= As soon as you enter this new area a cutscene will occur, after that simply head forward into the castle that resides directly in front of you. When you enter the castle yet another cutscene will occur, and BlackRose will finally reveal to you that she's a newbie. I don't think that was too hard to figure out though. (Please take note: from this point fourth I will make a section header that looks like this: ---------- when you enter a town. This will help you get a better understanding of where you can rest and re-stock on items.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Now log out and check the news and your e-mail. BlackRose will send you an e-mail about how she believes you and whatnot, reply with a "Thanks" and you should be able to use her on your team next time you login. You will also receive an e-mail from a girl named Helba, she'll teach you about Data Draining. Go into the actual game and check the Board, check both new posts to discover that Kite's post got deleted and there is a new area available to roam around in. The keyword provided at the board here is a simple game of tag that can be played when you warp to that field. More information will be covered on that in just a second. Now login to the actual game once more, you'll be able to listen into a conversation about cats and bunny girls... No you sick freak not that... Now go to the alley behind the magic shop to meet Mia and Elk for the first time. If BlackRose is currently a member of your party remove her and head to the "Delta Server" "Detestable Golden Sunny Demon" to play a quick round of tag. ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Detestable Golden Sunny Demon = ======================================================================= The basic information for this area is unnecessary since you'll only be facing one enemy that won't attack back. Stehunny will challenge you to a game of tag, so use a speed charm and keep attacking him, the speed charm lasts a decent amount of time; so don't worry about it wearing out before you can get him. The object of this game of tag isn't so much as to catch him, but to beat the living heck out of him! Do this until he runs out of HP and your reward will be a rare Goblin Cap and 130 EXP! After the little game of tag, log out of The World and check the Board for some more basic gameplay information and some keywords. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Upon your next visit to Aqua Capital Mac Anu it's vital that you stock up on some good weapons, it will make your life a lot easier. After you've done this invite BlackRose to join your party and head to "Delta Server" "Discovered Primitive Touchstone". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Discovered Primitive Touchstone = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 1 Element | Fire Field Type | Desert Weather | Cloudy Field Enemies | Goblin, Mad Grass, Disco Knife Dungeon Enemies| Cadet Valkyire, Chicken Hand, Deadly Moth, Disco | Knife, Mad Grass, Magical Goblin, Sword of Chaos ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There are a lot of monster portals in the field of this new area, so I strongly suggest using a fairy's orb this way you can see all of them. Don't get overwhelmed by what you see though, the EXP and items you'll get from the portals are well worth your time. After you've cleared the field head back to town to recover and re-stock on items and equipment. You can also probably make some good trades now too. After you restock head back to the field and locate the dungeon on your map, there is also a Spring of Myst in this map, if you don't know what it does than check the "Spring of Myst" section or the Board for details. You're only going to have Kite and BlackRose, so be sure to have a decent amount of healing items with you. Now, get ready for a dungeon. Area Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B1 ____________ | _ PP _ | | | |==| | | | | ŻŻ | | __ | |______| | __ |DD| |____ ____| |==| ___| |___ ____|**|____ ___|==|___ | **** |________| |________| **** | | = * * = __ * * = | | P * = * |__| * * P | | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| = |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| | | = | |___ ___| | | |__________| |****| |__________| | SS | ŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a pretty simple level; it contains a lot of treasure boxes and a lot of breakable objects. When you go forward into the second room with a big pitfall in the middle of it you can choose to take the right path. This path leads to a trapped room. When that room is cleared you can go up into the northern room for several breakable objects and a treasure chest. Weather you decide to take the right path or not, you are eventually going to have to take the left path. Just like the right path, you are going to have to go into a trapped room. Clear it and a path just north of you will open up. This leads the second level of the dungeon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 ______ ______ | =P | __ | = P | | ||DD|| | | P _||**||_ P =| Ż|**| | | |**|Ż |P | |**| |=P| | | |P | | | \**\ | | /**/ \ \_|**|_/ / \= * P=* =/ / * * \ / /ŻŻŻŻŻŻ\ \ /**/ \**\ |==| | | A-->|==| |SS| ŻŻ ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This level of the dungeon is fairly easy to complete, and I suggest you do complete it for some good EXP and items. However, the magical goblins can get quite annoying here; so make sure you have a few antidotes handy. Also, room A contains a lot of breakable objects, and you're bound to find a nice amount of healing items and scrolls to work with here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 ________________________________ | P =* = P * P | | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| =| |**| | | |**| |=P| | | |P | | | | | |= | ____|**|____ |**| ____|**|____ | | |= | | | | P |___ | P| ___| P = | | A-->*===| | | |D * | | = |ŻŻŻ |**| ŻŻŻ| = | |____________| |SS| |____________| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This level is also fairly easy level, and just like B3, it should be completed for a fair amount of EXP and items. Room A contains a room similar to the room in B2, a lot of breakable objects and 1 treasure box will be there, and it will provide you with a nice amount of items and scrolls, it's well worth the visit. This level also contains a large amount of magical goblins and great moths, both of which will give your party a lot of negative status affects, so have antidotes on hand. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B4 _________________________ |P * P| | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| | | | | =| | | | | | | |**| |**| _______| |_______ | | |D * P *===| <--A |P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ | | ___|**|___ __________ | | | | | |___________| = |___ | P * = P * P * S| | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻ |__________| |__________| ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The enemies here start to become a little stronger as far as physical attacks go, so start watching your party's HP a bit more closely. Also, everyone room in this level contains a portal, so make sure you have a decent amount of healing items available, if you don't then I strongly suggest taking the time to go back to town to stock up. Like many other rooms in this dungeon, room A contains several breakable objects and a treasure box, you should be able to find something good from it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B5 _____ _____ _____ | |_|=====|_|=====| | A-->* ===== * =====|<--A |_ _|Ż|=====|Ż|=====| |*| ŻŻŻŻŻ Ż|*|Ż |ŻŻŻŻŻ*ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |Ż Ż| |_ _* = | | | _|*|_| P | | EGS | A-->|=====| = | ŻŻŻŻŻ |_===_|____________| ____________ _|*|_| Room B || | | * = || |___ |_ _* P P || P * S| _|*|_| = || |ŻŻŻ A-->|=====|____________||_____ _____| |_===_| || ** | _|*|_| || = | A-->|=====* P ** P | |=====* = || | ŻŻŻŻŻ|____________||____________| ----------------------------------------------------------------------- First off let me clear up something, I know this map looks very odd compared to the in game map, but I feel that this was the best way it could be displayed. Anyways, the last level of this dungeon is actually fairly easy. Room B is an optional room in this level that contains two monster portals, those two monster portals can do quite a number on your HP, so make sure you have a method of healing available before venturing fourth into that room. As you can also notice, there are a lot of rooms marked A on this map, all of these rooms mirror that of the previous rooms marked A in this dungeon, basically they contain a lot of breakable objects and 1 treasure box, so you can expect to find a nice amount of items from this level. Now make your way to the Gott Statue at the end of this level and collect a ceramic anklet, a grunt doll, and a rainbow card. Use a sprite ocarina or make your way by foot out of the dungeon and gate out into town. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you haven't done so already, log out of "The World" and check the Board, a sighting of a strange girl in "Delta Server" "Expansive Haunted Sea of Sand" will be one of the main discussions being held there. Now log back into the game and stock up. Now make sure BlackRose is on your team and head to "Delta Server" "Expansive Haunted Sea of Sand". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Expansive Haunted Sea of Sand = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 3 Element | Fire Field Type | Desert Weather | Clear (Day Time) Field Enemies | Deadly Moth, Magical Goblin, Swordmanoid Dungeon Enemies| Chicken Hand, Deadly Moth, Magical Goblin, Swordmanoid ----------------------------------------------------------------------- A ninja-looking player will be the first person you encounter when you enter this new area. He'll tell you that he also read the post at the Board, but the administrators turned him away. The monsters here are quite easy, so clearing the field of magic portals isn't necessarily recommended. There is also a Spring of Myst in this area as well, so make sure you upgrade some items. When you think you've had enough of the field simply head to the dungeon. Area Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B1 ______________________ |P = * F = D| | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ | | | | |**| | | ___________| |________________ A-->|====* P = * P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| =| |**| | | | | | SS | ŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- An administrator will stop as soon as you set foot in this floor of the dungeon, he'll tell you that this area of "The World" is currently experiencing technical difficulties (as if we couldn't figure that out), and that you must turn back. So do what you do when you encounter most NPCs and ignore what he says and go right past him. Room A is a treasure room, so you may want to go ahead and check that out. The point on this map marked with an F contains a fire attribute boost, use that with a burning oil on Kite and watch an absolutely insane Vak Kruz attack. This level (and dungeon in general) will be quite simple if you bothered to level up your characters appropriately, and equip good items on BlackRose as well as Kite. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 _______________________ |S * = P *==|<--B ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ|==| |**| |==|<--B |==| |**| | | _____________| |_________ | P = * P = *====|<--A | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ |**| | | |DD| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is another very simple level, just use regular attacks and throw out the skill command and first aid command every so often to vanquish the numerous monsters in this level with ease. Rooms marked with a B are semi treasure rooms, they contain 1 treasure box and a few breakable objects; the room marked with an A is a normal treasure room and contains 1 treasure box along with several breakable objects. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 __ | | | | __ |P | |SS| | | | | ___________ | | |**| | | |**| | | | | | =| | |_____| |_______| | | * B * P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| | | | | | |___________| |**| |GS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is where things start to get a little difficult, okay... maybe not... Anyway, simply head into the room marked with a B. Here you'll encounter the first boss of the game, Headhunter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Headhunter Element: Darkness HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 250 Reward: Virus Core C Strategy: This boss is quite simple. Use the skills command and watch BlackRose to get to work, while she's using her awesome skills go ahead and use Vak Kruz. If BlackRose starts becoming overwhelmed, then use a physical approach and just start using physical attacks. After a short while the Data Drain option will become available, go ahead and use it and Headhunter will reveal its true form. The new version of Headhunter now only has 250 HP, so use the skills command on BlackRose while you stand in the back and use Vak Kruz. Headhunter will fall in no time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After the battle a female Wavemaster will approach you. Her name is Mistral, and she'll tell you how cool she thought your Data Drain skill was. Mistral will leave to attend to a burnt dinner, but not before giving you her member address. Mistral is a GREAT character that will benefit you throughout the whole game. She has awesome spells and healing capabilities many other characters do not posses. Mistral has a very lively personality, and her high spirits, as well as awesome spells are a great asset to any team. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After the battle you will be bought back to town, and you will encounter a character named Piros. Piros will ask you to be a witness to him as he kills a monster, as you can tell from the way he speaks, he takes his RPGs way to seriously and will only refer to Kite as: "He of fair eyes." Agree to watch him kill the creature; he will give you the keyword "Delta Server" "Indiscreet Gluttonous Pilgrimage" and be on his way. After the conversation with Piros you can choose to go back to "Delta Server" "Expansive Sea of Sand" and empty the Gott Statue. Simply make your way through the field and dungeon once more and retrieve the well- earned hunter's hood, rainbow card, and yellow candy, all of which are very useful while trading. After you get the items in the Gott Statue (or after you don't get the Gott Statue, depending on your choice) stock up on supplies and make sure you get BlackRose and Mistral on your team. It's good to stock up on health drinks, because Mistral will lose a lot of HP due to her low level. After stocking up head to "Delta Server" "Indiscreet Gluttonous Pilgrimage". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Indiscreet Gluttonous Pilgrimage = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 4 Element | Earth Field Type | Wilderness Weather | Cloudy Field Enemies | Deadly Moth, Magical Goblin, Sky Fish Dungeon Enemies| Headhunter, Hell Doberman, Magical Goblin, Sky Fish, | Sword of Chaos ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Kite and BlackRose can easily clear the field, and I strongly suggest you do that this way Mistral can gain some much needed EXP. Make sure you also have Sotetsu equipped on Kite, get it from Mistral if you haven't done so already. After you're done with the field, locate the dungeon on your map and go ahead and enter it. Area Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B1 ________________________________ |D * P *=====|<--A ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ | | | | | | |**| __________________| |__________________ A-->|======* P * P *= P * | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ |**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a golden egg and immature egg in this level, so go ahead a grab them to help you out with your grunties later on. The rooms marked with an A contain several breakable objects, and your bound to find a few good restorative items. The enemies in here are fairly easy, but it's vital that you kill them all this way Mistral can gain some needed EXP. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 __ |DD| | | ________ |**| __ | | | | _ _| |_ | |____| |____| |___| | | P * P * P = | |__ __|ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ|_|ŻŻŻ|_ _| |**| | | |==|<--A ŻŻ |==| __|**|__ | = |___ | P * S| | |ŻŻŻ | = | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hell Dobermans will really get on your nerves in this level, so it's really important you carry restorative items. I strongly suggest you clear this level, the EXP you gain here will greatly help your party. The room marked A has several breakable objects, and your bound to find a few items here. After you're done clearing the portals make your way to third level and get ready for some tough battles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 __________ | | | B | | | |___ ___| |**| | | __________ | | | ____ | _________| |______| | __| | |GS* = P * | |__= P| ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |____| | |= | |__________| | | |**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This level is fairly difficult, because you will encounter Headhunters and Hell Dobermans, but the EXP is nothing to laugh at, so issue the skills command to BlackRose and Mistral and watch them get to work killing them off with little trouble. The skill Tiger Claws will greatly help Kite defeat the enemies here, so use it often. Also, consider Data Draining for a chance at good items. Before you go into the boss room, make sure you get the items from the Gott Statue. The cougar bandana, rainbow card and grunt doll will be worth your effort. After you've cleared the level of enemies go into the room with the boss; Piros awaits you there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Rock Head Element: Earth HP: 410 Reward: Meteor Strike Strategy: This boss is really easy, even with his ability to heal 8 HP every few seconds. You will actually have 4 characters on a team at once; enjoy it now because this is the only part of the game where you will have a team like this. Piros and BlackRose will use physical attacks, so issue the skills command and watch BlackRose do insane damage. Have Kite away from the action and use Wood based scrolls to do incredible damage to Rock Head. Use the First Aid command when needed to get Mistral to heal the group. The battle should end just about as quick as it began. Piros will give you his member address upon defeating Rock Head, and you will get a meteor strike scroll as your reward. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- You will be warped back to town after the battle; you should receive a few e-mails around this time as well. Log out of the world and check the e-mail from CC Corporation (You may also have a received an e-mail from BlackRose or Mistral if you've been keeping their affection level high, go to the affection level section of the FAQ for help on this subject.), apparently Kite is the winner of some contest, and he needs to go visit any shop for his prize. Log back into the world and collect the "Book of Law" from any shop in the game, but the item is un-usable due to Kite's bracelet. Oh well... after receiving the "Book of Law" you should receive e-mail from Mia. Log out of the world and take a look at it. You'll learn that Mia knows a great deal about the bracelet Kite has in his possession. Mia will give you the keyword "Delta Server" "Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls" and tell Kite than he needs to come alone. So log back into "The World" and stock up. Spend every penny Kite has on health drinks, antidotes, and scrolls because the mission is VERY difficult. Also trade some yellow candies, grunt dolls, and rainbow cards for decent armor and make sure you have Sotetsu equipped, get it from Mistral if you haven't already. When you're fully stocked up and have become fully equipped, dismantle your party and head to "Delta Server" "Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 7 Element | Earth Field Type | Wilderness Weather | Clear (Night Time) Field Enemies | Bee Army, Fiend Menhir, Hob Goblin Dungeon Enemies| Bee Army, Dust Curse, Fiend Menhir, Hob Goblin, Rock | Head, Shield Man ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I strongly suggest killing off all the enemies in the field, Kite is almost guaranteed to level up. Make sure to use Tiger Claws and Vak Kruz to cut down most of the enemies to size. When all the monsters in the field are cleared (or not cleared, depending on your choice) simply head to the dungeon, the location should be pinpointed on you map. Area Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B1 __ __ |SS| Room A -->|==| | | |==| ___|**|___ |**| | | Room B -->| |_| | |M * P | |**|Ż| | Room B -->| | | | | | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ___|**|___ | | | = |____ | P * D| | |ŻŻŻŻ | | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll encounter an administrator here, so do what you always do when facing online gaming officials, ignore them. The first enemy portal you encounter will be somewhat overwhelming, just hit and run, and use Vak Kruz of Gan Rom when needed. If you think this level is hard then you haven't seen anything. The rooms marked with a B contain a treasure box with a few breakable objects, whereas the room marked with an A contains a treasure box and several breakable objects, you are bound to find a few items from these rooms. Before exiting the level activate the shrine, marked as a M on the map to increase Kite's magical accuracy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 __________ | | ____| = | |D * P | ŻŻŻŻ| | |___ ___| ___|**|___ | | ____| |____ Room A -->|====* P *====|<-- Room A ŻŻŻŻ| = |ŻŻŻŻ |___ ___| |**| / / /= / / =/ __/ / |S * / ŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When you enter this level simply head forward into the first large room and encounter a shield man and other various enemies, take them out to gain a nice amount of EXP. The rooms marked with an A contain lots of breakable objects and treasure boxes, so stock up on items here. Before entering level 3 of this dungeon make sure you have a lot of healing objects and a lot of scrolls (preferably wood ones) because you are about to be in the hardest battle you've encountered thus far. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 ____ ____ ____ | |_| | |====| |= * S| |====|<-- Room A | |Ż|____| |====| ___|**|___ ___|**|___ | | | | | = |__| = | | P ** PB | | = |ŻŻ| | |__________| |___ ___| ___|**|___ | | _____| = | | * P | |= |Ż| = | |*| | | | | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ | D | ŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure Kite has a lot of healing drinks and scrolls in his inventory and make your way into the room marked with a B and get ready for a boss fight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Rock Head X2, Sword Man Element: Earth HP: 410 (Rock Head), 110 (Sword Man) Reward: None Strategy: The room marked with a B next to a P contains this boss, and it will probably be the hardest enemy you will face thus far. Use the hanged man scroll to paralyze them a bit and focus your attacks on a single enemy. Wood scrolls will work miracles, but Vak Kruz will also do in a dangerous situation. The sword man should be your focus of attack at the beginning of the battle, since his speed can get annoying when facing the rock heads. The rock heads will attack with little mercy, so heal as soon as Kite's HP is half way down (sooner if your as paranoid as I am) and use mage's souls when needed. Don't worry about using to many items, because these guys are probably going to empty a good bit of Kite's inventory. Remember that rock heads recover 8 HP every few seconds, so concentrate magic based attacks on a single rock head until he dies, then focus use a good variety of physical and magical attacks on the remaining rock head. This battle may take a while, so be patient while taking these guys on. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When the battle ends make your way to the room marked with an A and grab any supplies from the treasure box and numerous breakable objects you'll find here. Battle your way through the remainder of the level and head to level 4. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B4 __________ | | ____________ | = |_| * | | P * |Ż|= | | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻ Ż|*|Ż |___ ___||ŻŻŻŻŻ| |Ż Ż| ___|**|___ |_ S _| |_ _| | | _|*|_ _|*|_ | = ||= | | | | P ** | | D | | |ŻŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ |__________| ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very easy level, so make your way through the numerous rooms opening treasure boxes along the way and opening the occasional magic portal. Don't be lax though when fighting, remember that Kite is still alone, so all attacks from enemies are going to go to him and him only. Empty the last of the treasure boxes in this level after both portals are open and head into level five of the dungeon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B5 __________ | | ________________| = | |GS *= P * * P P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻŻŻ| | ___|**|___ | | | | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ | | | B | | | | | ŻŻŻ|**|ŻŻŻ ___| |___ Room A -->|===* P*===|<-- Room A ŻŻŻ|**|ŻŻŻ |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the final level of the dungeon, and also the hardest. Grab supplies and some Grunty food from the rooms marked with A's and head your way into the room marked with a B and get ready for a really challenging boss fight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Red Wyrm Element: Fire HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 850 Reward: Virus Core M Strategy: The only vital error I can think of that you could make while fighting this boss is using scrolls. This guy barely receives any damage from them, but has tons of HP before being able to Data Drain him. Use physical attacks and skills to cut him down to size and use Data Drain when possible. Make sure to heal when needed, use a health drink every time you see Kite's HP halfway down. Make sure you use health drinks though and not Repth, because the casting time on Repth could put Kite in serious danger. When Red Wyrm is in his second form use Tiger Claws for some serious damage and continue to heal when needed. This battle seems a lot harder than it actually is just remember to heal. Don't worry about using to many items, because you will need them for him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After the battle Mia and Elk will approach you, and they will inform Kite about gate hacking. Mia will tell Kite to meet her in town and she will teach Kite how exactly to hack gates and she'll be on her way. After the conversation you'll automatically be sent back to town, which means you'll have to travel back to "Delta Server" "Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls" later on in the game to empty the Gott Statue in the dungeon of a pair of frost bracers, a grunt doll, and yellow candy. Make sure you know that you can't empty that Gott Statue of its goodies until after you speak to Mia about gate hacking. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Speak to Mia and learn how to gate hack, which is much easier then thought to be, and head to the previously closed off area "Delta Server" "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills". You should have this keyword in your word list if you've been keeping track of the messages posted on the board, but if you don't Mia will give it to you nonetheless. I suggest you warp to "Delta Server" "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills" quickly and warp out this way you can empty the Gott Statue in "Delta Server" "Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls" and trade for some better equipment for Mia, Elk, and more importantly Kite. After you empty the Gott Statue stock up on supplies and warp to "Delta Server" "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills". ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Closed Oblivious Twin Hills = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 10 Element | Wood Field Type | Grassland Weather | Clear (Night Time) Field Enemies | Mimic, Mummy Ripper, Red Wyrm Dungeon Enemies| Red Wyrm, Scorpion Tank ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The enemies you'll encounter on the field in this new area are quite difficult, in fact you'll be facing quite a few former bosses. Mia's low level will surely hurt her, but if you use Elk as a healer everything should balance out. Lots of enemies here will confuse your team, and if Kite becomes confused you can count on him attacking (and killing) Mia and possibly Elk. So make sure you always have some resurrects and health drinks on hand while fighting on the filed, or you will surely regret it. Mia's damage is very limited at this point in the game, even if you get the best equipment possible for her, but her friend Elk is nothing to laugh at, his spells will be a great help, so issue the skills and magic command frequently. (Also have a few mage souls to back up that strategy.) After you're done getting EXP for Mia and Elk in the field, head to the dungeon. (However, make sure you're stocked up on health drinks and resurrects before continuing on your way.) Area Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B1 __ |DD| | | |**| | | | | _|**| _| | | _|Ż |P |_ |_ |_ | | Ż|**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This level of the dungeon is very simple. Although the enemies look overwhelming simply use a few fire skills and watch them get cut down to size. Use the skills and magic command to get Elk to use his awesome magic skills. There is only 1 portal in this level and not reassure chests, so swiftly make you way across and get to level 2. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 __ |DD| | | |**| | P| | | |**| __________ | | __ | ____ | ____________________| |____| |_| | __| | |= P * P * * | |= P |<-- Room A ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ| |ŻŻŻŻ| |Ż| | ŻŻ| | | | ŻŻ | ŻŻŻŻ | |**| ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ |=P| | | |**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's where the enemies start getting tough. Issue the skills and magic commands to Elk and have Kite use physical attacks along with Mia. Make sure to issue the first aid command when any one of your teammates (or Kite himself) has his or her HP drop below 75. Collect the treasure chest from room A for a nice item and make you way to third level. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 ___________ |GS * P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ|= | ___|**|___ | | | | | B | | | | | ŻŻŻ|**|ŻŻŻ _| |_ | | Ż| |Ż |**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mia will stop you when you make your way into the room with a B, she'll tell Kite not to forget about data draining and then a boss fight will commence. Don't go into the room with unless you're fully stocked. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Stone Turtle Element: Earth HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 1090 Reward: Virus Core N Strategy: This guy is a real pain. Issue the skills command and magic command as soon as the battle starts, and have Kite deal physical attacks along with Mia. The Stone Turtle has quite a few moves that will put any character out of business in one hit, so issue the first aid command frequently to Mia. Health drinks and resurrects are vital to survival in this fight, so use them whenever needed, and don't feel like you're using to many items. Scrolls may also be needed to take this guy out (wood ones preferably), so have Kite stand back and use a few of them. Continue the pattern of physical attacks, first aid, skills, first aid, physical attacks, first aid, scrolls and the Stone Turtle will eventually be able to become data drained. The second form of Stone Turtle is actually a bit harder because he now carries healing spells, just issue the skills command and watch Mia and Elk get to work. Stand back and use wood-based scrolls and the battle should end in no time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After the battle Kite will inform Mia and Elk of what happened to Orca, the not-so-caring Mia will tell Kite what her interests actually are, and the party will be warped back to town. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After the Mia and Elk take off it's time to assemble your usual party together. (Which can now contain of Mia and Elk if it suits you.) I suggest you go back to "Delta Server" "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills" and empty the Gott Statue of its treasures. The wyrm scale, and 2 rainbow cards will be greatly worth your effort. After emptying the Gott Statue (or not emptying it depending on your choice) log out of the world and check the board, your e-mail and news for quite a few updates. Upon logging back into town you will be approached by Balmung, he will finally tell Kite that he believes that he is Orca's friend, so Kite decides to say everything he knows to Balmung. (Not very good with secrets is he...) After hearing Kite's story Balmung walks away in semi-disbelief while Aura approaches. After pretty much creeping out Kite, Aura leaves and is finally able to go on with his travels once more. So invite your usual party members to join your team and head off to "Delta Server" "Raging Passionate Melody"; you should've gotten this keyword on the board, if you do not currently have it, check the board and obtain this keyword now, because you are about to get an incredibly powerful character. ======================================================================= = Server: Delta = = Keyword: Raging Passionate Melody = ======================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Level | 7 Element | Fire Field Type | Molten Rock Weather | Thunder (Overcast) Field Enemies | Bee Army, Fiend Menhir, Hob Goblin Dungeon Enemies| Bee Army, Dust Curse, Hob Goblin, Rock Head, Shield | Man ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very easy battlefield; consider bringing along low-level party members because the EXP is pretty decent. Use things like burning oil to lessen the damage of fire spells, and use skills like Gan Rom and Tiger Claw to crush enemies. After you're done showing no mercy to the enemies on the field, locate the dungeon on your map and head inside. Make sure to have antidotes handy though before heading in. (And for the people that have dark swirling vortexes where their heart is supposed to be, go out and look for the item for a better cause, yourself.) This is probably one of the easiest levels to any dungeon you have faced thus far; you can pretty much walk through the enemies as your teammates take them out. Issue the skill commands often and use burning oils to reduce fire damage, and the enemies in this level will be as good as dead. The room marked with an A contains many breakable objects and a treasure box, so expect to find some nice items there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B2 __ |SS| | | __ |**| Room A-->|==| | | |==| | =| |**| | P| __ | | | | |DD| | | |**| | | | | | | Room A |**| | | | | | | | | |____________| |______v_____| | |P * P *=====* P| ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Another very simple level, just use the skills command and first aid command when needed. The rooms marked with an A contain many breakable objects and a treasure box, so restock on items there. You won't run into any remotely hard enemies in this level, so don't be ignorant and try to save your items for when you need them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B3 __ |GS| |**| | | | |_______ __________ |P * \ / * P | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ\ \ / /ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ \ \_ _/ / |= |__|= | Ż\ /Ż \ / | | |**| | | | | |P | | | | | |**| | | |SS| ŻŻ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is another simple level, just head straight to the Gott Statue. The room before the Gott Statue contains a boss fight, Rock Head, however, you've fought this guy many times in the past, including two of them versus just Kite, so if you can't take this one out... well then... you're beyond help, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Simply use wood-based attacks to pretty much take out Rock Head in a few seconds. Now head to the statue room and grab the spiral edge. After retrieving the spiral edge Natsume will approach Kite and ask for it, go ahead and give it to her, because although the spiral edge is good, it's not the best, and this is the only chance you will have to recruit Natsume. Natsume is a member of the twin blade class, so picture her as bringing a second Kite along... yeah, she is that good. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Now head back to town and log out of the world. Check your e-mail, the board, and news for some updates. You'll be glad to know that you can finally play on the Theta Server (which can be accessed by selecting the other services option on the chaos gate menu), BlackRose should also e-mail you about a new place "Theta Server" "Quiet Eternal White Devil", which you should go ahead and check out with BlackRose after you explore the new town in the Theta server "Highland City Dun Loireag". You can also finally raise Grunties in this new town; so refer to the Grunty Raising section of this FAQ for more information. Characters appear in this section as they appear in the game. ======================================================================= Character Name: Kite Character Class: Twin Blade How To Recruit: Starting Character ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Kite is the only character you can actually control. Kite carries a nice amount of spells, and can also do decent physical damage. He is limited on what armor he can wear, thus he takes more damage than other characters. Due to the fact Kite carries two weapons he can attack much faster than other party members, so he can also get out of dangerous situations more quickly as well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Kite is a middle school student and a casual gamer. His friend, Yasuhiko, introduced him to the game and they decided to go off exploring together until something happened to his friend. The next day Kite found out that Yasuhiko has been hospitalized after falling into a coma. Kite senses that that the strange event that happened on the previous night caused this injury, and he journeys into "The World" to find out what exactly happened. At the beginning of his journey an un- known girl gives Kite the power of a strange bracelet. This bracelet allows Kite to re-write data within the game and hack into areas forbidden by the administrators, there is one problem though. Every time Kite uses his bracelet an infection in his character spreads, and if he uses the bracelet too much the game crashes, and the game ends. All good things have their price. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Orca Character Class: Blademaster How To Recruit: Introduced Directly At The Beginning ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Orca is an insanely powerful character that will teach Kite all the basics of the game that he needs to know. Although he's only playable for a very very very short amount of time at the beginning, he still can gain a decent amount of EXP for the first field of the game. He gives out one hit kills, and if you play with him for a while he can at least get Kite up to level 2, which is a great help for the first dungeon. So even though you can't play Orca for long, he's still worth every second. Orca will also have some speed charms for trade right at the beginning, and Kite can pretty much give him anything for them, so you may want to stock up on them for a low price. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Orca (AKA Yasuhiko) was a hardcore gamer, and is considered as one of the best gamers around. He was one of the members of the "Descendants of Fianna", the most powerful party ever found playing "The World". He and his partner, Balmung, were considered the best of the best. Orca decided to introduce his love of "The World" to his good friend Kite. Orca was showing Kite the basics of the game in a beginner dungeon when all of a sudden an un-known beast appeared. Orca became bewildered about this beast and decided to go chase it. Here he met Aura for the first time and saw her getting attacked by the unknown beast. Orca decided to go help her out, but his efforts were proven futile. Orca cried out in fear as his character was slain. The next Kite found out Yasuhiko fell into a coma after his character (Orca), died. Kite, confidante that "The World" had something to do with it, went off to go seek the truth about what really happened to his friend. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: BlackRose Character Class: Heavy Blade How To Recruit: Approaches You After The First Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- BlackRose is a character of the Heavy Blade class. She isn't restricted by what armor she can wear and she does awesome physical damage with her regular attack and physical attacks. BlackRose also has some awesome healing skills that will help you in the beginning and end of the game. Although BlackRose has very limited magic use, she combats this weakness by carrying a very long sword, so she doesn't have to be that close to the enemy to attack. BlackRose is easily one of the best characters in the game, and it is suggested that you use her as much as possible throughout your journey in "The World". ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Like Kite, BlackRose was a casual gamer when she found out about "The World", she claims to bet a great player when she first meets Kite, although she admits otherwise later on. When Kite first meets this sophomore student, very little is known, and she has quite an attitude towards him, however the two warm up to each other after she admits to Kite that she is also a newbie. BlackRose was able to watch the power of Kite's bracelet in action, Kite noticed the interest BlackRose had in his bracelet and decided to explain to her what had happened to her friend. Although a little confused, BlackRose decided to help out Kite whenever she could and the two become very close friends. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Mistral Character Class: Wavemaster How To Recruit: Found In Bottom Of First Data Bugged Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Mistral is just plain awesome, she's has the magic and the care-free attitude to really get the life back into your party. Her spells are useful throughout the beginning and end game. Although restricted by armor, Mistral can do some awesome weakening, strength, healing, and attack spells to combat that weakness. Although she does sometimes have to log out of the game to attend to burnt dinners, she is still preferred over the other Wavemaster in the game, Elk, due to her care- free and humorous personality. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Mistral isn't really a big gamer, and she prefers to communicate with people rather than actually playing the game. The 20-year old woman behind the character has a lot of stuff to do outside "The World", and she occasionally burns her meals, or has to go fold some laundry. Mistral often talks with :), :D, or :( at the end of her statements to add some personality to her that other characters in the game just seem not to have. Although Mistral is not a serious gamer, she plays "The World" quite often, but is totally un-aware of Kite's current situation, however she is always willing to help out Kite whenever she can. I must say though, for someone who is not a gamer, Mistral is quite good at "The World". ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Piros Character Class: Heavy Axeman How To Recruit: After "Indiscreet Gluttonous Pilgrimage" Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Piros is a very powerful physical attacker, but has very little magic to back him up. Expect him to last very long in battle, but be greatly affected by status affects. He's a great addition to a party needing a physical attacker. Piros's HP is very high, and can be used as a damage absorber while Kite and another party member attack at long range with spells and such. Heavy Axeman don't have the best weapons out there, but his very damaging physical skills will make up for that. At least consider giving Piros a try, even if he takes the game to seriously. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Piros is a 30 year-old game programmer for CC Corp in real life and was a programmer for "The World"; he plays "The World" on and off the job, though he frequently takes time out to spend time with his wife. (You'll find out all of this information in .hack//MUTATION, but I figured some people would like to know.) Piros has a passion for RPGs and only talks in a mid-evil speech while playing the game. Piros also took advantage of his programming position by editing his character to his appeal. He will only refer to Kite as "He of Fair Eyes" and it's because of this that Kite is sometimes evidentially annoyed by his behavior, but befriends him nonetheless. Piros spends a lot of time online, so he's always willing and raring to go. Piros is totally un- aware of Kite's situation, and Kite chooses to remain his problem a secret to this video game addict, though the decision would probably change if Kite were to learn about his real life status. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Mia Character Class: Blademaster How To Recruit: After "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills" Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Mia is a great physical attacker that packs a nice amount of skills and magic to boot. Using Mia is a nice idea when a full group of physical attackers is needed, but her magic skills don't make her a good choice to put with Wavemasters due to the fact you won't have enough people up front using just physical attacks. Her one handed sword allows her to attack faster than most other characters, giving her the edge against slow, but strong enemies. Mia isn't always willing to join a party with Kite, but she's a great help when she does. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Mia decides to keep her true reason for playing "The World" a secret, although many players in "The World" seem to know about her because of the way she edited her character to look like a rabbit. Many rumors travel the game about her as well, but she really doesn't seem to care; in fact the only thing she does care about in "The World" is her friend Elk and Kite's bracelet, however, Mia chooses to keep her interests in the bracelet a secret as well. Obviously little is known about Mia, and she seems to like it that way. Mia does however appear to be an experienced hacker who is always willing to help Kite hack gates. Mia will never send Kite e-mails no matter what her affection level is. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Elk Character Class: Wavemaster How To Recruit: After "Closed Oblivious Twin Hills" Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Elk is an absolutely awesome Wavemaster who carries awesome skills and spells. His specialty is healing the party, and he does a real fine job at the beginning and end of the game. He seems to like his earth based spells more than anything, so if a boss or enemy calls for that make sure to bring him along. Despite all his qualities though I still prefer Mistral to him. Her personality is more interesting than his, and she can do more damage (although she takes more as well). There is a few times in the game that Elk must be used though, so make sure you level him up and bring him with you from time to time; especially when a healer is needed, because he far surpasses Mistral in that field. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Elk's only reason for playing "The World" is to get to know Mia better. He cares much for her, and he actually doesn't seem to care about the game at all. Elk will sometimes not respond to flash mail because he is actually to busy helping Mia. Due to the fact Elk does not take play "The World" for the game, he is often not found online. It seems as if Elk works much better when Mia is on the team as well. (Even though Mia doesn't work well with him, go figure.) He always gives Mia priority on healing spells and will risk his own HP to save a certain doom to Mia. Elk's personality towards Kite is very shy, and he will never send him e-mails regarding anything whatsoever. Elk is a very odd fellow, but he's worth using if you have the time to get him to a decent level. ======================================================================= ======================================================================= Character Name: Natsume Character Class: Twin Blade How To Recruit: After "Raging Passionate Melody" Dungeon ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Notes ----------- Natsume is simply a powerhouse. She has awesome magic and skills, so she's great for distant and close ranged attacks, and will be a great addition to any type of party you are trying to build. She attacks fast and swift, so she can get out of situations faster than other characters. Due to her class, Natsume is limited on what armor she can wear, but easily combats this weakness with great speed. In addition to her great offensive purposes, Natsume can also act as a healer for your group. The only downfall to Natsume is that she is the same class as Kite, but you'd be surprised how much damage two twin blades in one party can do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reason For Playing "The World" ------------------------------ Natsume is a 15-year-old ninth grader who works at the library at her school. In an attempt to change her image, Natsume begins her adventures in "The World". She attempts to be a sort of rebel online, and even informs Kite of this through a few e-mail conversations, however she acts this way online this way no one knows about her true persona outside of the game. Natsume opens up to Kite quite quickly, probably due to the fact they are around the same age. Natsume and Kite also have a thing for science fiction novels, which make the two even better of friends, so it's shocking to know that Kite doesn't reveal his whole situation to her. (Considering the fact pretty much everyone else playing "The World" knows about it thanks to Kite's not-so-small mouth.) Natsume has a calm and cool personality that is welcome to any party, however some people do seem to get bothered about how she edited her online character... her eyes never open. ======================================================================= More to come! =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= = 6: Spring Of Myst = = ----------------- = =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= The Spring Of Myst can be found in the following fields: Desert, Earth, Wilderness and Grassland. The Spring of Myst can upgrade equipment for you if used properly. Here's what you do. Approach a Spring of Myst (It will look like a little pond on your map.) and throw either a weapon or piece of armor in. The spring will ask you if you lost something and three choices will appear: Neither, Golden Axe, & Silver Axe. Choose neither to get your weapon or armor back in a more powerful form. If you choose Golden Axe or Silver Axe then Kite will receive just that. Golden and Silver Axes are very weak, but some traders in town do surprisingly want them. If you want to collect a few for trade then throw in a very powerful weapon (to powerful for that current spring to upgrade) and you will receive your item back along with a Golden and Silver Axe. The Spring of Myst is affected depending on what weather condition it is on the field. Here is a list of the weather conditions and how they affect what item you throw into the spring. ======================================================================= = Weather Condition | Weapon Effect | Armor Effect = ======================================================================= - Clear (Day Time) | + 2 Levels | - 1 Level - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Clear (Night Time) | + 1 Level | + 1 Level - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Clear (Sunset) | + 1 Level | + 1 Level - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Cloudy | + 2 Levels | - 1 Level - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rain | - 1 Level | + 2 Levels - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Snow | - 1 Level | + 2 Levels - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Thunder (Overcast) | - 1 Level | + 2 Levels - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As shown in the above chart, items can also be downgraded. Make sure you know what you're throwing in before hand. Certain items can also not be upgraded if thrown into a certain spring. Each spring contains 1 of 2 creatures, Monsieur or Grampa. Each creature can be either level 1 or level 2. If the item you throw in is to powerful and you choose "neither", then you will simply get your item back along with a Golden Axe and Silver Axe. Here's a list of the maximum level your item can be when thrown into a certain spring. ======================================================================= = Class |Monsieur Lvl 1|Monsieur Lvl 2|Grampa Lvl 1|Grampa Lvl 2= ======================================================================= - Blademaster | Level 4 | Level 11 | Level 7 | Level 14 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Heavy Axeman| Level 4 | Level 12 | Level 7 | Level 15 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Heavy Blade | Level 4 | Level 12 | Level 7 | Level 15 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Long Arm | Level 4 | Level 11 | Level 7 | Level 14 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Twin Blade | Level 4 | Level 11 | Level 7 | Level 14 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Wavemaster | Level 4 | Level 10 | Level 6 | Level 13 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Any Armor | Level 8 | Level 26 | Level 16 | Level 32 - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you need to know any other information about the Spring of Myst then please check the in-game Board. I listed keywords to make navigation easier in this part. Boss #1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Area: Expansive Haunted Sea of Sand Location: Dungeon B3 Boss: Headhunter Element: Darkness HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 250 Reward: Virus Core C Strategy: This boss is quite simple. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss #2 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Area: Indiscreet Gluttonous Pilgrimage Location: Dungeon B3 Boss: Rock Head Element: Earth HP: 410 Reward: Meteor Strike Strategy: This boss is really easy, even with his ability to heal 8 HP every few seconds. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss #3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Area: Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls Location: Dungeon B3 Boss: Rock Head X2, Sword Man Element: Earth (All Three) HP: 410 (Rock Head), 110 (Sword Man) Reward: None Strategy: Use the hanged man scroll to paralyze them a bit and focus your attacks on a single enemy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss #4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Area: Boundless Corrupted Fort Walls Location: Dungeon B5 Boss: Red Wyrm Element: Fire HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 850 Reward: Virus Core M Strategy: The only vital error I can think of that you could make while fighting this boss is using scrolls. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss #5 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Area: Closed Oblivious Twin Hills Location: Dungeon B3 Boss: Stone Turtle Element: Earth HP First Form: Infinite HP Second Form: 1090 Reward: Virus Core N Strategy: This guy is a real pain. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= = 19: Version History = = ------------------- = =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Version: .1 - 2/24/03 This version of the guide covers up to the second dungeon, it also contains a completed Spring of Myst section and a near completed Item List. This is the first version of the guide, so it's very incomplete. Version: .2 - 2/26/03 This version of the guide covers now contains a completed Item List, a few new additions to the character section, a completed shop list, and a little bit more of the walkthrough complete. Version: .3 - 3/01/03 I figured that all of my other sections in this guide were being updated just fine, but the most important section of all wasn't getting touched, the walkthrough. So I decided to do a fair amount of updating to the walkthrough in this update. Version: .4 - 3/05/03 This version includes a much-needed updated walkthrough, an updated character section, and an updated boss section. Expect a total walkthrough update in the next version. Version: .5 - 3/09/03 I updated more of the walkthrough and boss section in this update. I will add some more of the walkthrough, as well as character information for Mia and Elk in the next update. Version: .6 - 3/10/03 This update was more of a spur of the moment thing. Upon multiple requests a fast-track (spoiler-free) walkthrough was added, and the good news is that it's completed. Expect normal updates to resume sometime this week. Version: .7 - 3/12/03 I updated the main walkthrough in this update. I will be adding character information on Mia and Elk on the next update; I couldn't add them in this one because I frankly didn't have the time. Version: .8 - 3/17/03 I'm very sorry for the lack of updates lately; family issues have made me stop updating for the weekend. Regular updates should resume tomorrow. I added character information on Mia and Elk in this update. Version: .9 - 3/20/03 This version contains huge spelling and grammar corrections, again certain issues have been keeping me from actually updating parts like the walkthrough and such, but hopefully normal updates will resume this weekend. I'm truly sorry for the delay this week. Version: 1.0 - 3/24/03 I'm finally able to update this FAQ regularly again, so after a few problems it's safe to say that this FAQ is back in full swing. This version contains an updated walkthrough and character information section. Version: 1.1 - 4/1/02 Sad to say, but no April Fool's Jokes over here. I apologize for the lack of updates, but somewhat of tragedy kind of happened recently, thankfully everything is fine now though, and regular updates on this FAQ should resume tomorrow. This version contains a grammar and spelling update. Version: 1.2 - 4/7/03 It's been another bad week for me; my luck just has not been with me. I really intend to get this FAQ done by this month, but don't expect any updates this week. I apologize for this, and I promise to catch up on all the lost time, however family has to come first, and certain issues are holding me back from writing. The main reason of this update is to inform my readers of my absence in writing, however I did update the formatting and made spelling corrections. Version: 1.3 - 11/16/03 It's been way to long since the last update of this FAQ was submitted. I deeply apologize to all my readers turning to my FAQ for advice; I promise that this FAQ will be completed by the end of December. This version contains formatting updates and an updated item list. Look forward to having more information added within the week. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= = 20: Conclusion = = -------------- = =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Thanks a lot for taking a look at my .hack//Infection guide.
