LEGAL STUFF & FINAL THOUGHTS ======================================================================== ======================================================================== I. INTRODUCTION OK - while there's lots of activity on the boards re: this game, there's also a noticeable drought of clearly explained methods to accomplish the various side-quests, secrets etc. within Shadow Hearts. In this guide I'll attempt to provide clear advice on how to get the various Fusions and other stuff. Please also note that this guide will be rife with spoilers and will assume that you have played the game and have a decent understanding of what "Fusions" are and the like. Check your manual for further details. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The following is very important. There are THREE points of "No Return" in Shadow Hearts. By this I mean that there are three points in this game where you MUST do or find a certain something in order to ensure that you will have certain extra's or secrets available later in the game. Briefly, they are: I. Dehui's Tower: You MUST get the Erotic Magazine, "Shanghai Angels" in order to have the opportunity to get the ultimate Fusion, the "Seraphic Radiance". II. Under Nemeton Monastary: You MUST get the Destruction Stone before you enter the double- doors that lead to the Albert Simon battle in order to have the opportunity to get the "Amon" Fusion Soul. III. The Float: You must do ALL side-quests, etc. BEFORE you leave for "The Float" or you will lose the opportunity to do them. Also, you CANNOT get the Rebirth Stone (which will give you the Seraphic Radiance) after you leave for The Float. See below for more detailed information. Finally, please feel free to email any information you may have on a fool-proof way to get "X" secret or sidequest. I will be fairly candid in here about areas I have not discovered personally and will credit any help you are nice enough to provide. On to the Guide! ======================================================================== ======================================================================== II. VERSION HISTORY 0.55 ******************* QUICK UPDATE *********************** First of all, thanks to everyone who has emailed me, I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions you have all sent me. However, there's a slight problem: I've been flooded with email! I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to read/answer all of it, so please don't be offended if I haven't replied. I will be posting an updated version of this FAQ in the near future and will include many of the suggestions/information you have sent me. Remember, I don't get paid for this stuff so please be patient! ;) And... Quick plug --->> Feel free to check out my other FAQ's and reviews on GameFAQs! 0.50 First draft. This FAQ was written in Courier New font with Wordpad. This FAQ is hosted at: http://www.gamefaqs.com ======================================================================= ======================================================================= III. LEVEL THREE FUSIONS OK - quick intro. Unlike the Level One and Two Fusions, you have to do something extra to gain access to the Level Three Fusion Souls. This game has a total of 20 Fusion Souls available - 6 in Lvl 1, 6 in Lvl 2, 6 in Lvl 3, and 2 Secret "Ultimate" Fusions. Call them the "Knights of the Round" of Shadow Hearts. To obtain a Lvl 3 Fusion Soul, 2 conditions must have been met: 1. You have killed enough monsters of a particular element in battle to have maxed out a particular Fusion Soul Element. Look under "Graveyard" in your menu. When a particular element has "maxed" that Fusion Soul can be obtained, if... 2. You have the proper, corresponding Gravestone in your inventory. And so... For example: You have the Lvl 1 and Lvl 2 Fusion Souls under the "Darkness" element. After various battles, you see that the Darkness element has leveled up 70 points and is now at its maximum. If you go to the Graveyard, you'll see that the gravestone for Darkness has grown even more. To fight the Lvl 3 Fusion monster, you will have to have the Dark Gravestone in your inventory to fight and obtain the Lvl 3 Fusion Soul for Darkness. Got it? Good. ========================================================================== <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< LEVEL THREE FUSION STONE LOCATIONS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ========================================================================== In no particular order... =============== DARK GRAVESTONE =============== Location: Blue Castle, Room at the top of the Tower. After you defeat Yuri in the Tower, go back to the top of the Tower again and pick up the blinking item on the floor. It's the Darkness Stone. ================ LIGHT GRAVESTONE ================ Location: *Real* Roger Bacon's House. Search the area to the right of the Vending Machine (walk past it, to the right) after the Real Roger Bacon reveals himself. =============== WIND GRAVESTONE =============== Location: Prague, the Bartender has it. This is a bit more involved. You will need some Tissues to do it. If you don't have any, go to any Lottery Member and purposely lose to get "Tissues". Go to Prague. Talk to the people and they'll tell you that the bartender has been in the bathroom for a long time and they're worried about him. Go into the Men's room and search the stalls. Someone inside one of the stalls will tell you that there's no toilet paper (it's the bartender). Yuri will give him some Tissues, and the grateful barkeep will reward him with the Wind Stone. =============== FIRE GRAVESTONE =============== Location: Mental Hospital, in the Spade Room. After opening the room requiring the Spade Key, search the chest in the room twice and you'll get the Red Gravestone. ================ WATER GRAVESTONE ================ Location: Rouen, at the Hotel. (After you find out about the Real Roger Bacon) Go to the Hotel in Rouen and start to walk up the staircase. You'll start to overhear a couple arguing. Walk all the way up and enter the door on the right. Talk to the man and the women - the man will allude that he needs to talk to a priest about what kind of engagement ring he should get the woman. Go to the church (you'll have to use the door in the back). Go into the confessional area (door on the right once inside the church). Enter the second door. The man will enter the other side and ask you ("Father") what he should do. Tell him to get the Diamond Ring (as he originally promised). He'll leave. Now go back to the room in the hotel. Talk to the man again and he'll offer to sell you the Blue Gravestone for 3000g. ================ EARTH GRAVESTONE ================ Location: Bisritz. (After you find out about the Real Roger Bacon) Another involved side-quest. Go to Nina's house (the item shop), there's a blinking spot in front of the house. Search it. Go inside and talk to Nina, who has now moved from behind the counter. Leave the village. Go back in and search the blinking thing again and choose "Watch it" from the menu. Yuri will water the spot. Talk to Nina and leave. Keep going into the village, watering the spot, talking to Nina, and leaving (whew!) until Nina moves out of the house. Talk to her and she'll give you the Green Gravestone. ========================================================================== IV. THE FIRST POINT OF NO RETURN A. THE EROTIC MAGAZINE: "Shanghai Angels" Location: Dehui's Tower in Shanghai Search the room where you get the White Tiger Votive Scroll (the top room of the left side of the tower). It's on a table there near it. ========================================================================== V. THE SECOND POINT OF NO RETURN A. THE DESTRUCTION STONE & AMON ===================== THE DESTRUCTION STONE ===================== Location: Nemeton Monastary Ruins, underneath. Unseal all of the treasure chests by using the different colored activators to change the color of the Torch to the color you need it to be. (NB - I understand I'm being vague, you'll see when you get there). I'll answer a common question right now - Green + Red = Yellow, to open the Yellow Chest (and only Green and Red, you'll have to turn the other colors off). Once you have opened all of the chests, go to where the large open fire pit is. You'll lose control of Yuri and he'll walk over to the fire pit as a blinking object comes down the chimney. Yuri will grab the object and you'll now have the Destruction Stone. ======================= SECRET FUSION SOUL AMON ======================= Location: Nemeton Monastary Ruins, Albert Simon Boss Battle After unsealing all of the chests and getting the Destruction Stone, go to the double doors and tell your PS2 it's OK to go in now. Go up the long stairs and you'll have an interaction with Albert Simon and a boss fight with him will quickly ensue. After you get Simon on the ropes, he'll transform into Amon, a hidden Fusion Soul. Defeat this form and, since you have found the Destruction Stone, you'll gain him as a Fusion Soul. NB - Amon ricks. He's Non-elemental, can heal AND revive others, has both a huge damage single hit ability as well as a non- elemental area hit ability. He also had incredible attack power and agility - he frequently gets 2 attacks per turn. I'll post his full stats later. ========================================================================== VI. THIRD POINT OF NO RETURN OK. DO NOT tell Real Roger Bacon that you're ready for "The Float" until you clear all the side- and sub-quests throughout Europe. You can't go back. I'm also not going to fill anymore into this section until the correct method has become settled. In a nutshell, there's conflicting info on how to get the game's most powerful Fusion, Seraphic Radiance. The folowing elements have to be found or dealth with before you can get the Rebirth Stone, which in turn gets you the Seraphic Radiance. Here's where I'm asking for any info y'all have. I know that the following things may or may not have an effect on getting it: 1. The 4 Masks. 2. The 5th Mask. 3. The 4 Hidden Documents. 4. Alice's Dream Fight. 5. The hidden game areas. 6. The hidden bosses (Cherubim, Seraphim). 7. The Pulse Tract. 8. Timing relative to even talking to Real Roger Bacon after he tells you about his teleporter. 9. Talking to Koudelka. See above and below for my email address. ========================================================================== VII. HIDDEN SIDEQUESTS AND ULTIMATE WEAPONS Also, ultimate weapons and the timing on their availability seems to be in doubt. I've heard talk of "The Doll" and the "Golden Bat". When I sort this out and playtest it I'll fill that in as well. See above and below for my email address. ========================================================================== VIII.
