Name of Character ----------------- The names of the characters you are controlling are listed here. As the game progresses, the names of your new characters will appear here. VP (Vitality Points) -------------------- A character's vital points represent his health. If the number decreases to 0 during a fight, the character will temporarily lose consciousness. LP (Life Points) -------------------- A character's life points represent his "life force". If the number decreases to 0, the character will need to be resurrected at a church. MP (Magic Points) -------------------- This is the characters magical power. Each spell requires a certain amount of magic points to cast. As this number approaches 0, you will be able to use fewer and fewer spells. ---- Gold ---- The window, in the bottom-right hand corner of your screen, displays your current gold total. You will gain gold by defeating enemies or by selling items. Gold is used to buy items or services of the townspeople. -------------- Command Window ============== This window will open when the X button is pressed. ---- Talk ---- By facing a person and executing this command, you will be able to talk to that person. Some people have important information, so make it a habit to talk to everyone you possibly can. ------ Search ------ This command will let you open a treasure chest or search an item (Vase, Dresser, Pot, etc.) Remember to always search because there are MANY hidden items in this game! ----- Magic ----- As you progress through the game, your characters will learn magic spells. This menu option gives you the opportunity to cast "Recovery" Magic Spells, like Heal or Cure. Later on, you will notice that you will be able to use different levels of a spell, like Heal (lv 1), or Heal (lv 2). To use a spell, select this option (Magic), and then select the character whose spells you want to use. Then select the magic spell you wish to use. When you choose the magic spell, either in this screen or in battle, the spell will start at its most powerful level. You then have the opportunity to change the level of the magic spell by using the directional pad. ---- Item ---- This command allows you to "use", "equip/unequip", "give", or "discard" an Item. Once you select the Item command, a screen will appear listing all the characters in your group. Use the directional pad to move either up or down to the desired character and then press the "x" button. Use: Enables the use of an item in your inventory, like a Herb, or to hand an item to a person or place it in a designated location. (Un)Equip: This command will allow you to equip or unequip a weapon or piece of armor. Remember, characters are only able to equip certain pieces of equipment. Once an item is equipped, the letter "E" will appear next to the item. Give: This command allows you to transfer items among your group members. Once you select the item, a new window will appear where you will be able to select the character who will receive the item. If the item you selected to transfer is a weapon or piece of armor, there will be a small screen to the left of the item screen saying whether the character you cursor is on can equip that item. Discard: This option allows you to select an item and throw it away. Once you have discarded the item it can NEVER be recovered. There are some "important" items that can't be discarded. ------- Prepare ------- This command displays a new menu of options for you to choose from, "Status", "Formation", "Setting", and "Tactics". Status ------ When this option is selected, four new screens will appear. The screen in the upper-left corner will tell you your basic status, the lower-left your basic attributes, the upper-right your total fighting attributes and exp, and the lower-right screen the equipment you currently have equipped. If you press the "x" button while on the character you selected once more, a screen will appear showing that characters magic spells. Basic Status: Class - the character's class (Ex. Finn starts as a Hero) Condition - will display any abnormality or illness VP - displays your current / maximum vitality points LP - displays your current / maximum life points MP - displays your current / maximum magic points Basic Attributes: Strength - displays your strength unaffected by weapons/armor Defense - displays your defense unaffected by weapons/armor Speed - displays your speed unaffected by weapons/armor IQ - displays your intelligence rating Luck - displays your luck rating Fighting Attributes: Strength - displays your strength affected by weapons/armor Defense - displays your defense affected by weapons/armor Speed - displays your speed affected by weapons/armor EXP - displays your total amount of experience NEXT - displays how much experience you need to advance to the next level Equipment: "Weapon equipped" "Armor equipped" "Shield equipped" "Accessory equipped" Formation --------- This command allows you to order your character's battle order. If a character is in the front line of battle, he/she will be able deal the enemies more damage, but will also receive more damage compared with being the in the back line. To order your characters, select a character by using the "x" button, and then use the directional pad to move him to the proper battle location. You must replace every character when using this option for the battle order to be changed. Setting ------- This option will bring up a new screen allowing you to adjust certain settings, "message", "battle", and "window" to be adjusted. Message: This option will allow you to adjust the message speed to fast, medium, or slow. Battle: This window will allow the battle window to be turned on or off. When this command is selected in the "off" position, all windows displayed during battle will be removed. Remember, this means that your status screens will not be displayed, so you will not know your characters stats! Window: This command will give you the option of choosing three different modes, each of which changes the background color. Mode A makes the background clear, Mode B opaque, and Mode C black. Below this, you have the option of changing the color of the "font" of text messages, the "frame" of the dialog and menu boxes, or BG (Background) color of each dialog and menu box. NOTE: If you select Mode A, you will not see any change if affect the Color of the previous three options, "Font", "Frame", or "BG". Tactics ------- This command allows you to general select what type of actions you want your characters to perform in battle if you are not controlling them. It is not necessary to use different tactics in battle, but it may help you depending on how well you use this option. The different possible tactics you can select are "Charge", "Fight", "Reserve", "Guard", "Manual". Charge: This command tells the characters to attack or use their most powerful magic to deal the enemy the most damage possible. However, this option may use up your characters resources, so you may not want to use this option frequently. Fight: This command tells your characters to fight at a normal level, and focuses more on using your resources effectively. This option balances both the defensive and offensive components of your characters. Reserve: This command disables the use of magic in battle in order to conserve your characters magic points. This is effective when you want to save your magic points and not waste them on weak enemies. Guard: This command tells the characters to focus on protecting him/herself from injury. Depending on the battle, the character may be passive, or even use extreme force like in the "Charge" option to quickly end the battle, thereby protecting him/herself. This command is helpful if you are trying to save a character from death! Manual: This option allows you to control each character separately during battle. This gives you many more options and gives you the chance to follow a very specific battle plan. This is the option I almost always use, since I like directing how the battle will flow. ================================================================================ III. Characters (Friends and Foes) ================================================================================ Finn ---- Class: Swordsman -> Hero History: A boy training to become a knight. His mother died when he was young and Galahad, an old friend of his father Kevins, is raising him. Although Finn trains once a month with Kevins, the leader of the Marion Knights, he is far from catching up to his father's skills. Steiner ------- Class: Baby Dragon -> Dragon History: A baby dragon that Finn keeps. He has been with Finn ever since Finn rescued him from injury a few years ago. He can relate to the hearts of children and people who are pure. He is more of a friend that a pet to Finn. Annie ----- Class: Cleric -> High Cleric History: Galahad's daughter has been friends with Finn since both were children. While very strong-minded, she is also kind. Her strong-mindedness tends to get her into trouble. She becomes aware of her ability to perform Healing Magic at the beginning of the story and helps Finn throughout the journey. Percy ----- Class: ? -> History: Annie's older brother is currently a knight at Marion Castle. His basic personality seems to be much like Annie's. He is both brave and kind and is not afraid to sacrifice himself. He is an excellent swordsman and one of the brightest prospects of all the young knights at Marion Castle. Samson ------ Class: Soldier -> General History: Soldiers are usually ranked lower than knights, but Samson is revered for his bravery. This quality probably comes from an unusual level of strength that is unmatched by anyone in Marion, and also from the loyalty and faithfulness that fills his heart. He is currently Prince Edward's guard and attendant. Prince Edward ------------- Class: Magician -> Mage History: Marion's slightly spoiled Prince. Having been weak and prone to illness since he was young, he has no experience in hand-to-hand combat. He is, however, gifted in the use of magic and is currently under the tutelage of the castle wizard. With enough experience, he will probably be able to hold his own against enemy swordsmen by using strong magic attacks. Domino ------ Class: Pirate -> Captain History: A pirate captain who, for unknown reasons, is collecting treasure from all over the world. Since he does not attack regular commercial ships, he is very popular and is regarded as a noble thief. Because of this, many of his fellow pirates think of him as a do-gooder and try to shun him. Tont ---- Class: Conjurer -> Summoner History: A student magician who is living with his parents in the Village of Simone. Tont is studying summoning magic, and as his levels increase, will be able to summon powerful creatures to aid in your battles. Lorele ------ Class: Monk -> Master Monk History: The princess of the kingdom of Barbaros, she has been schooled in the Martial Arts. Enemies should be wary, because this girl is very powerful not only with her attacks, but also with her attack and recovery magic! ------- Friends ======= Sir Galahad ----------- History: Galahad is the father of Annie and Percy. He is a former leader of the Marion Knights, who retired due to injuries. He is also the caretaker for Finn, who stays at his house. Lord Kevins ----------- History: Kevins is the "father" of Finn and current leader of the Marion Knights. He has entrusted the care of his son, Finn, to Sir Galahad, who was once his teacher. Arawn ----- History: An extremely powerful wizard, who has lived for hundreds of years. He will guide and help Finn on his journeys. There is great mystery surrounding Arawn, and only time will tell his whole story. ---- Foes ==== Shutat ------ History: A mysterious person who is has become a "rising star" in the political realm of Bandore. He currently holds a position under the emperor, and his ambition may lead him to reach higher... Ramue ----- History: A general under the command of Shutat. Her magical power is great and she will test your group early. She is cold, calculating, and will do anything to destroy her enemies. Dagoot ------ History: Another of Shutat's generals, he is an expert in archery, having descended from a long line of bowman. His bow is one of the strongest in the world, and no man or creature is safe from his reach. Yeon ---- History: The last of Shutat's generals, Yeon is known for his deception and trickery. His magical powers may even surpass those of Ramue, making him one of your most serious opponents. ======================================================================= IV. Walkthrough ======================================================================= I have divided this walkthrough up into sections to make it easier to follow. Each section has a main heading and a number to its left, which corresponds to the table of contents. Below the heading there are three other minor headings, Items Found, Special, and Enemies Encountered. The "Items Found" section lists all of the Items that can be found in that particular section. The "Special" section lists any unique characteristics or features that the section has to offer. The "Enemies Encountered" section lists all of the enemies that you may come across as you begin and complete that particular section. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 Isla Village (I) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: 2 Herbs, Flask, Short Sword, Antidote, Light Shield Special: Storage Trunk Enemies Encountered: None Begin a new game, and when asked, choose your name. Following the dialog sequence, you will wake up alone in your room. Annie comes up the stairs and tells you to go talk with Sir Galahad. Hmmm, it must have something to do with the quest that Lord Kevins and Sir Galahad were talking about. But before you go downstairs, you should search the barrel in southwest corner of your room for a Herb! (If you are having trouble getting to this barrel, you must first go south to the wall and then west in front of the barrels) Searching for hidden items is VERY important in this game. I will always make a note of where specific items can be found as you continue on your journey. Walk down the stairs and enter into a conversation with Sir Galahad. He asks you if you would like to see Marion Castle. If you do want to go, you first have to enter the Spirit Cave and fill the Flask he gives you with Spirit Water. But, before you even leave the house to begin your quest, Annie interrupts and asks if she can go along. Sir Galahad laughs and says that she can't go since "she is only a girl!" Annie then runs out of the house. Before you exit the house, talk to Sir Galahad and he tells you to look in basement for some stuff. Walk down the stairs into the basement. Search the sword hanging up on the wall to your right and you will receive a Short Sword! Search the barrel in the southeast corner of the room for an Antidote and the barrel to the left of the firewood for a Herb. If you look in the northwest corner of the room you will find a large treasure chest. This is the Storage Trunk, which will let you store money, weapons, armor, and items in it. While you are here, open the Storage Trunk and remove a Light Shield from the armor storage. There are also 2 Herbs and 4 Antidotes in the Storage Trunk for you to take if you desire. (Throughout most of the game, you will be able to go back and store or remove items from the Storage Trunk) Walk back up stairs and exit the house. After you leave the house, Sir Galahad will run out and tell you to take a right at the fork in the cave since the left path leads to danger. Now that you are in town, I will once again emphasize the importance of SEARCHING. The most common places for items to be hidden are in places like pots, stoves, casks, bushes, and armor/swords on the wall. At this point, there are no accessible hidden items for you to find. The exit leading north out of town is guarded, which means that you will have to take the exit to the south. But, before you exit the town, make sure that you save your game at the church. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.2 Cave of Spirits ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Wisdom, Spirit Water Special: Annie joins group Enemies Encountered: Slime, Small Bat, Tumble Rabbit Once you are outside, walk southeast and into the cave. At this point, you may want to consider fighting inside the cave until you gain a couple levels. If you choose to do this, take advantage of the "free Inn," by resting in your bed back at Isla Village. * Floor 1 * Follow the path, and after your first fight, Annie will come out of her hiding spot. After talking to you, she will run off in hopes of finding the Spirit Water by herself, thereby earning the respect she deserves. Continue to follow the path until you reach a fork. At this point, you will catch up to Annie, only to see her run off down the left path! Wasn't this the path that was supposed to lead to danger? However, instead of following Annie, walk down the stairs to your northeast. * B-Floor 1 * At the fork, follow the path going south. (The path going east leads to a staircase that brings you outside of the mountain. The view here is nice, but not where you want to go). Keep on following the path south, and then east until you reach a staircase. Walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk north and stand before the spring. "Use" the Flask in your item list and you will get the Spirit Water! Now walk south and back up the stairs. * B-Floor 1 * Backtrack west, north, and up the stairs. * Floor 1 * Walk west and go down the same stairs that Annie went down. * B-Floor 1 * Walk a couple of steps west and then go north to a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest for a Source of Wisdom. Walk south, east, and follow the path going north. Walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk south and at the fork take the path going northwest. Walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Walk south and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 4 * Walk to the swamp and ...? A Kraken is trying to capture Annie! After a few failed rescue attempts, Annie is finally captured. Luckily, you have something that can save her! Stand before the swamp and "Use" the Flask containing the Spirit Water. The Kraken spits Annie out, who then lies dead on the floor. Your character then pours a couple of drops of the Spirit Water into Annie's mouth. Annie then glows for a couple seconds and comes back to life! Once she is revived, she will join your group. Backtrack your way out of the cave, and walk back to Isla Village. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.3 Isla Village (II) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: None Special: Annie rejoins and Percy joins group Enemies Encountered: None Walk north into Annie's house, and your character will give Galahad the Spirit Water. Just before everyone goes to bed, Galahad hears someone outside...its Percy! Everyone runs outside and sees Percy lying wounded on the ground. Bandore has attacked Marion Castle! The next morning Percy decides to come with you to Marion. As you are leaving the town, Annie begs you to let her come with you. After receiving her father's permission, Annie joins your group once again. Your group will then appear outside of Isla Village. Before you travel to Marion, I recommend going back into Isla and saving your game at the Church. At this point, you should consider fighting outside to gain levels and to earn some money, about 300 Gold. Once you are ready, walk north from Isla Village, and enter Marion. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.4 Marion Town (I) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Ring of Defense, Smoke bomb, Illusion Potion, Prison Key, Royal Pendant, Monster Bait, Helium Ring, Source of Defense Special: Sir Samson and Edward join your group Enemies Encountered: Bandore Soldier, Bat Overworld - Bat, Green Slime, Killer Bee, Killer Frog, Kobold, Slime, Small Bat, Tumble Rabbit Here are the locations of all the hidden items in this town. There is a Monster Bait hidden under the table in an old man's house. His house is located in the northwest section of town. There are two identical houses in this part of town; the old man's is the one to the right. An Illusion Potion can be found by searching to either SIDE of the preacher's pulpit in the church. There is treasure chest containing a Smoke Bomb just north of the flowerbed in the northwest section of the castle compound. The best item here is the Ring of Defense, which can be found by searching the northwest tombstone in the cemetery. You may also want to consider buying a Short Rod, Travel Dress, and a Leather Plate from the Weapon Shop. Once you are ready, talk to the man walking in front of the house in the northwest corner of town. A short sequence will follow between Sir Samson and some soldiers. Once the sequence is over, walk into the house Samson came out of. Search under the desk and a secret staircase will be revealed. Walk down the stairs and flip the hidden switch on the wall. Walk into the cemetery and you will see that a tombstone has been moved revealing a hidden staircase. Walk down the stairs into the secret passageway! * B-Floor 1 * Follow the path north. As you walk north along the path, you will be forced to do battle with a group of two Bats. Then as you walk farther along, you will have to battle a group of three Bats. Keep on following the path and you will come to a large rock blocking your way. Luckily for you, your group will be able to push it out of the way. Continue to follow the path, and walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Follow the path and you will eventually enter into a sequence with Sir Samson. He will lead you up a staircase and into the dungeons. * B-Floor 1 * Search the chains on the wall to your right for a Helium Ring. Follow the path past the jail cells until you reach a jail cell containing Prince Edward. Talk to Edward and then walk to west to the far door. Your group will break into the room and have to battle with a group of Bandore Soldiers if you want to get the Prison Key. These Bandore Soldiers have less VP than the ones you will face later on in the game. Once you have the Prison Key, walk back to the jail cell containing Prince Edward, and use the Prison Key on the cell door. Once the cell is open, Prince Edward will join your group. Now walk back to the hole where you first entered the dungeon. Just before you make it back to the underground tunnel, the sorceress Ramu find you! Ramu will attack Sir Samson, and eventually succeed in casting a curse on him. This curse has multiple affects on Sir Samson when he is in battle. The first possible affect is that Sir Samson will be unable to move. The second is that if he attacks, the curse will deal him 1/4 damage he deals to an enemy. If the curse doesn't affect Sir Samson during a turn, he will just perform the designated action with no side affects. Enter the tunnel and follow it back to where you first met Sir Samson. Your party will then split up, with Edward and Samson separating from your group. Edward will then give you the Royal Pendant to show the Pastor at the Border Church. Your group will then exit the tunnel and appear outside Marion. At this point, you may want to go back to Isla Village and save your game before going to the Border Church. While you are in Isla Village, try walking into Annie and Percy's house, and you will enter into a short sequence as you walk away. Also, now that the villagers are out of their houses, you can search the pot inside of the northwest house of town for a Source of Defense. (At this point in the game, you are able to enter Marion Castle since all of the guards are out looking for Edward. However, some doors and stairs in the castle are still not accessible. Although you are able to get a couple of items at this point, I prefer getting them farther along into the game when you are able to explore every corner of the castle. Therefore, the directions to those Items are at the corresponding step in my walkthrough, 4.29) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.5 Border Church ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Resist Jewel, Antidote Special: Samson and Edward rejoin your group Enemies Encountered: None The Church is located in the mountains to the southeast of Marion. Enter the church and explore the forest on the eastern side of the church. You will find a treasure chest with a Resist Jewel inside. (For more information regarding one of the uses of this special item, refer to section X, "Tips and Hints") Now, enter the Church and search the middle barrel of the bottom row of barrels in the east wing of the church for an Antidote. Now show the Pastor the Royal Pendant and answer "Yes" when he asks if you are (name of character using the item). The Pastor will open a secret door leading to the rear of the Church. Exit through the door and walk north into a clearing where you will find Samson and Edward. Prince Edward will tell you that you need to solve the riddle of the picture if you are to find the secret passageway. To solve this puzzle, you must position the pieces so that the ivy crown is on the top, and the free space in the middle of the puzzle. The end result must be identical to the complete picture, which you are able to catch a glimpse of before the pieces of the puzzle are rearranged. If you step on any piece of the puzzle adjacent to the free space, that piece of the puzzle will move to where the free space was. This puzzle is a little tricky, but with a little time and effort, you should be able to solve the puzzle. *** Make sure that you don't go back to the church without completing the puzzle. If you do go back, Ramu and two Ork Lords will find and attack your group. I am almost sure that there is no possible way of defeating them, unless you literally spend days and days gaining levels. *** Once the puzzle is solved, the Pastor will appear to your south, blocking your way back. However, you may now go back to the Pastor and save your game. Then once you are ready, walk north and go through the big door! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.6 Underground Tunnel ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Blizzard Card, Herb, Source of Agility Special: Percy leaves your group Enemies Encountered: Bat, Green Slime, Killer Bee, Killer Frog, Kobold, Mold, Slime, Tumble Rabbit Walk north until you reach the end of the red carpet. Before going down the stairs and into the cave, I would recommend giving Percy's items to another character, since Percy will be leaving your group soon. Now, walk down the stairs. * Floor 1 * If you search middle vase of the three vases to your right, you will find a Blizzard Card. Walk northeast until you reach a gate. Then, raise the lever on the wall to open up the gate. Walk through the gate, and just as you do so, you hear the voices of some soldiers who are behind you! Your group will start to run away... except for Percy who will then run back and shut the gate! Percy has decided to make sure that no one follows you, and as further insurance, he breaks off the lever to the gate. After a long discussion, your group decides to go on and continue their journey. Walk east until you reach the stairs. If you want, search the middle barrel of the three barrels to the south of the stairs for a Herb. Then, walk up the stairs. * Floor 2 * Follow the path to your east and walk up the stairs. * Floor 3 * Open the treasure chest for a Source of Agility, and then walk down the stairs to the previous floor. * Floor 2 * Walk west back to the fork, and then follow the path going north. Keep on walking north, and at the next fork, follow the west path until you find Brother Thomas. Choose to guide him out of the cave because once you reach the Inn, he will be able to save your game. Then walk back to the fork, and follow the east path. Walk northeast and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 3 * Walk east and then out of the cave. As you do so, you are able to view a sequence that is taking place at the Border Church. Mistress Ramue is right on your trail, but since Percy destroyed the gate, she is not able to follow you. However, she does not seem to be that upset that your group will make it to Zalagoon. I wonder why? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.7 Mountain Cottage ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Healing Herb Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Bat, Goblin, Green Slime, Killer Bee, Killer Frog, Kobold, Slime, Tumble Rabbit Walk north to the building, but don't go in yet. First, search the east bush of the two bushes in front of the building's south wall to get a Healing Herb. Then walk into the building, save your game with Brother Thomas, and if you need to, rest at the Inn. From the Mountain Cottage, walk northeast through the forest. However, before you manage to cross the forest, you will enter a new screen. For your group to cross the forest, you must climb up into the trees and find a path. (If you want, you can go north from the Mountain Cottage and into the Dragon Cave. This cave is an excellent place to gain experience and earn gold. If you explore the cave, you will notice that a sleeping dragon is blocking your path. There is also a treasure chest with a Healing Herb that can be found if you follow the path above the ladder. However, I include getting that particular treasure in a different section of my walkthrough, 4.27) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.8 Tree Path ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Steel Mail, Counter Jewel, Source of Life Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bat, Demon Hornet, Giant Scorpion, Goblin, Green Slime, Kobold, Kobold Lord, Mold, Ork, Poisonous Frog, Zombie Walk east and enter the big hole in the tree. * Floor 1 * Follow the path counter-clockwise and go up the stairs. * Floor 2 * Walk along the path until you reach an acorn blocking your path. Now push the acorn north and into the hole. This can be accomplished by simply walking into the acorn in the direction you want it to move. Once you have done this, continue along the path and go up the stairs. * Floor 3 * Now walk west and push the acorn south 4 spaces. Then push the acorn one space east and then south into the hole. Push this acorn into the hole and walk southeast up the stairs. * Floor 4 * Walk west and open the treasure chest for a Steel Mail. Then walk back down the stairs to the previous floor. * Floor 3 * Walk northwest and walk into the hole. Your group will now be dropped down to floor 2. * Floor 2 * Now walk counter-clockwise and push the acorn north into the hole. Continue following the path and walk up the stairs. * Floor 3 * Follow the path southeast until you reach the acorn. Push this acorn south two spaces, west one space, and then south into the hole. Now walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Follow the path until you reach another acorn. Push this acorn east one space, north one space, and then east three spaces. Now push the acorn south one space, and then east into the hole. Walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 5 * Walk west and push the acorn south to the wall. Then push the acorn east to the wall. Now walk around the walls and push the acorn south five spaces. Then push the acorn west into the hole and walk up the stairs. * Floor 6 * Circle around the wall so that you can push the acorn west three spaces. Then, circle back around and push the acorn north three spaces. Now push the acorn east six spaces. Then, push the acorn south five spaces, and then west two spaces. Now all you have to do is push the acorn south one space and into the hole! Then walk through the vines and you will appear outside of the tree. Walk along the vine until you reach a long segment of vine dropping down to the ground. Follow this vine south, step onto the tree limb, and then walk west back into the tree. Open the treasure chest for a Counter Jewel and then walk back outside the tree. Climb the vine north so that you come back to the main path. Then, walk east and enter through a small hole into a new tree! * Floor 6 * You now have to get your group back down the tree. To do this, you need to fall down one of the many holes in the floor. However, many of the holes have webs underneath them that will bounce you back up! So, walk northwest and then southwest until you reach the hole that is by itself in the southwest corner of the floor. Then drop down through the hole to the next floor. * Floor 5 * Walk east to the wall, take two steps north, and then walk east into the hole. * Floor 4 * Walk north two steps, and then west until you reach the wall. Now walk south five steps, and then walk west into the hole. * Floor 3 * Walk southeast and open the treasure chest for a Source of Life. Then walk north and into the hole. * Floor 2 * Make your way to the north section of this floor. Then, walk into the southern most hole in this northern section. (This hole is a couple steps east from the "entrance" of the northern section of this floor. * Floor 1 * Walk south and exit the tree. Then walk east to exit the forest. Now walk northeast and into a cave. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.9 Mountain Cave ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Counter Orb Special: None Enemies Encountered: Demon Hornet, Giant Scorpion, Goblin, Kobold Lord, Ork, Poisonous Frog, Zombie * Floor 1 * Walk north, and at the fork, follow the path going northeast. Then at the next fork, keep on following the path going east. Once you reach the end of the path, walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 2 * Walk along the path, and at the fork, take the path going east. Follow this path to its end, and you will be rewarded with a treasure chest containing a Counter Orb. Once you have this item, follow the path back to the fork, and then follow the path going north. Then walk down the stairs. * Floor 1 * Follow this path as it meanders south, and then exit the cave! Walk northeast until you reach Zalagoon. (It is on a bright green plain and slightly to the west of the ocean) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.10 Zalagoon Town (I) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: None Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Amazon, Demon Hornet, Giant Scorpion, Killer Bee, Kobold Lord, Ork, Poisonous Frog, Slime, Spinning Tail, Tumble Rabbit Walk north through the gates and into the town. Save your game at the church in the northeast corner of town. If you happened to go into the Weapon or Armor Shop, you will notice that the owners won't sell you anything until you have seen the advisor. If you talk to the townspeople, you will learn that the advisor is very unpopular and has been making everyone miserable! Now, in order to keep the plot line moving, you will need to walk north through the town and into the castle. Talk to the guards and Edward will announce his identity and ask to see the King. (Make sure that Samson is alive, otherwise you will not be allowed inside the castle) Your group meets with advisor Glade who says that you are lying and demands that Sir Samson provide proof that he is Marion's hero. Glade then asks you to explore the town until a messenger comes to bring your group to the King. Once you are back in town, talk to the boy with the yellow hair that is standing beside the trees right outside of the castle entrance. He tells you that the sewers can be used as pathways to go to different parts of the town and castle. Before jumping into the sewers, I recommend buying the now available Weapons and Armor that your group so desperately needs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.11 Sewers ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Magic, Smoke Bomb, Bronze Key, Herb Special: Meeting with Sir Bison Enemies Encountered: Flying Mouse, Kobold Lord, Ork, Poisonous Frog, Spinning Tail, Thief, Zombie Search the well (i.e. sewer hole) that is south of the Church and your group will fall into the sewer system below the town! * Floor 1 * Walk a couple of steps south and go across the red bridge to your west. Then follow the path west and search the barrel for a Smoke Bomb. Now walk south off the ledge and your group will fall into the water, which will then carry you south. Walk three or four steps east, step north out of the water and back onto the path. Walk east and go across the red bridge. Then follow the path south, west, and across another red bridge. Now follow the path as it twists and turns until you are standing on the next red bridge. Walk north off the bridge and into the water. Walk north and go through the small hole in the wall. Once you are on the other side of the wall, walk a few steps west, and at the fork, follow the north path. Now follow this path until you reach a dead end. Walk west and you will fall into the water. Walk one step south, two steps west, and then north onto the dry path. Follow the path southeast and walk east across the red bridge. Then follow the path until you reach a dead end. Search the barrel to your east for a Herb and then walk south into the water. The current will then carry you one step to the west. Now walk south, west, and then north onto the dry path. Now take a step west, walk south, and then follow the path east. Keep on following the path until you reach a ladder. Walk up the ladder and search the treasure chest to your east for the Bronze Key! Now go down the ladder and back into the sewers. Walk west until you reach the barrel. Walk south into the water and the current will then carry you west. Once you have stopped, walk west and the current will take you for a long ride. Then walk north onto the dry path. Take one step east and follow the path south until you reach a dead end. Search the barrel to your east for a Source of Magic! Now walk north and go up the ladder. Now that you are back in town, take the opportunity to rest your characters and save your game. Once you are ready, climb back down into the sewers by searching the well to the southwest of the Inn. Walk south out of the stairwell and then walk east across two red bridges. Follow the path south, west across another red bridge, and keep on walking until you are standing on another red bridge. Instead of jumping off the bridge like we did earlier, walk east across the bridge. Then walk east across another bridge. (The other bridge that is to your north leads to dead end) Follow the path northeast and then walk west across another red bridge. Walk west and you will see a door blocking your path. There is a keyhole one space to east of the door. Stand in front of the keyhole and use the Bronze Key to open the door. Walk north until you see a passage leading to the west. Walk off the path into the water and follow the path west. Eventually you will end up in the basement of Zalagoon Castle. Follow the path through a couple rooms and climb up the ladder. You will appear on the lawn inside of the castle. The messenger you saw earlier is standing on the grass waiting for your group. Once he sees you, he will bring Sir Bison and a Pastor out to meet you. Sir Bison says that Edward's Aunt would help your group, but Advisor Glade has control of all the power. He then tells you that if Advisor Glade kicks you out of Zalagoon, to meet him back here. Once Sir Bison has left, walk back into the sewers and make your way to an exit. (Take advantage of the currents, and when possible, let them carry you closer to the exit) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.12 Zalagoon Castle ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Tornado Card, Magic Bean Special: Meeting with the King and Queen Enemies Encountered: None Exit the sewers and walk towards Church. Just before you reach the door to the church, a messenger will come and tell you to come to the castle. Save your game, buy any last supplies you need, and then walk into the castle. Talk to the guards to open the gate and walk north until you are in the courtyard. The King, Queen, Advisor Glade, Sir Bison and Sir Piat will all be waiting for in front of the main castle. Advisor Glade accuses your group of being imposters and of even possibly trying to help Bandore capture Zalagoon! The only way for your group to prove your identities is for Sir Samson to perform a feat of strength. Unfortunately, Samson is unable to completely fulfill the test of strength due to Ramue's evil curse. Your group is then ordered to leave Zalagoon or be thrown into the dungeon. Once the scene is over, talk to Edward and Samson so that they can rejoin your group. Walk towards the three columns to your east. Search the front of the northernmost column for a Tornado Card. Talk to the guards blocking your path and they will move out of the way. Walk south and exit the castle. Now you have to go back through the sewers and find the secret area inside the castle where you met Sir Bison previously. Once you are there, you will see the Queen and Sir Bison waiting for you. Sir Bison tells your group of a mysterious group of wizards who might be able to lift Sir Samson's curse. The Queen also gives something to Sir Bison, who then places it in a treasure chest before your group. Inside is a Magic Bean, which is supposed to save the kingdom during a time of need. Once the Queen and Sir Bison leave, open the treasure chest and walk back through the sewers to get back to town. Save your game at the Chuch and get ready for a long, long trip! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.13 Ophera Village ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Monster Bait, Healing Herb, Smoke Bomb, Flame Card Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Amazon, Blood Pudding, Devil Scorpion, Flying Mouse, Harpy, High Ork, Kobold Lord, Mantrap, Skeleton, Spinning Tail, Summoner, Thief, Warlock, Worm Your next stop is a little town located in the desert to the far southeast of Zalagoon. As I mentioned earlier, it is a very long journey, so make sure you are prepared! While you are walking, you will encounter a desert. At this point, walk south along the water's edge (to your east) until you see the town. If you search under the table on the second floor of the Inn you will find a Monster Bait. There is a Healing Herb hidden in the northwest bush underneath the Weapon and Item shop. (If you still can't find it, begin by standing just outside the doorway to the shop, and walk west until you reach a bush) There is a Smoke Bomb hidden in the northeast house in town. It is hidden inside a gray vase right below the stove/fireplace. Last, but certainly not least, search the gray vase in the house to the right of the church for a Flame Card! There is not much else to for you to do in town. If you want, talk to the townspeople and you will hear information about the town Luna, a mysterious Tower, and pirates. You should definitely consider fighting outside Ophera to level up your characters and earn gold. The monsters here are new and extremely tough, so don't get over too confident because you might get defeated. By the time you leave Ophera your characters should be around level 14 or 15. While you are fighting monsters outside, you may notice a building with something floating above it. You will becoming back to this building later on in the game, so don't worry about exploring it right now. Once you are ready to move on, save your game and get ready to go to Luna! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.14 Port Town Luna (DAY) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: None Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Dark Priest, Devil Scorpion, Elf, Mantrap, Skeleton, Summoner, Warlock, Worm Luna is port town located far to the southwest. To find Luna, first walk southwest until you are out of the desert, and then keep on walking southwest until you reach the sea. Then, follow the seacoast south until you reach Luna. Luna is the most unique town you will come across in the game, because you will also have the opportunity to visit Luna during the night. Although Luna might seem like a boring place in the daytime, during the night it is a place filled with pirates and rogues! As you look around town, you might see some treasure chests around. However, you will not be able to get the treasure chests until night. While you are here, make sure that you talk to the man standing in the southwest corner of the dock to the west of the Inn. You should also you talk to the two men sitting at the table next to the Inn. They will tell you about the Moon Crescent, and also of another town, Jonowan. The Moon Crescent can be used to change day into night, but you can't get this item until you accomplish some other tasks. Now walk into the vase shop in the northeast corner of town, and then try to walk into the back room. You will overhear a conversation between two a shop owner and his employee, and you will learn about the Vase of Life and a pirate named Domino. Save your game at the Church, and buy some new weapons and armor for Finn and Samson. Then stock up on curative items and exit Luna. ******************************************************************************** If you want to, you have now have the opportunity to make tens of thousands of gold pieces in this town. The first step is to accumulate about 2,000 or 3,000 gold. Then go to Vase seller and buy as many vases as you can. Then go to the weapon shop and try to sell those vases. Most of the unknown vases you bought will be common vases, however, some of the vases will be special vases like the Tornado Vase or Fire Drake Vase. You can sell these powerful vases for a profit or you may keep them to use on your enemies. Then, go back to the vase shop and sell the common vases to the "buyer" who is above the vase seller. Then repeat this procedure until you have accumulated enough money and/or powerful vases. However, you will not be able to do this once you hvae Discipline Island. ******************************************************************************** (There is a secret path through a forest to the east of Luna, but this is NOT where you want to go right now) Your next goal is the secluded village of Simone. But to reach this village, you first have to go through Emerald Cave to the north of Luna. By now, you should be around level 14 or 15. If your not, I would recommend that you buy some Mage Potions and Healing Herbs. This next part of the journey is very difficult. Now to find the Emerald Cave, follow the coastline north and keep on going. As you walk north, make sure you stay between the coastline to your west, and the mountain range to your east, until you see a cave. If you're not careful, you will get separated from the coastline and end up between two mountain ranges. Eventually, you will reach the cave. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.15 Emerald Cave ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Magic Emerald, Broad Sword, Power Gauntlet, Flame Card Special: None Enemies Encountered: Amazon Priestess, Blood Pudding, Dark Priest, Elf, Ghost, Ghoul, Harpy, Hobgoblin, Lizard Man, Ork Lord, Roper, Summoner Walk north and enter the cave. * Floor 1 * Walk north and go up the stairs. * Floor 2 * Now walk south out the door and you will be outside the cave. Open the treasure chest for a Broad Sword and then walk back into the cave. Walk north through a hole in the wall and follow the path. At the end of the path there's an apparent dead end, but just walk south and go through another hole in the wall. Now walk east and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 3 * Now climb the vine to the left and follow the path. Then, walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Walk east, and at the intersection, south. You are now faced with the option of choosing two doors, both which lead outside. Choose the west door and you will be dropped down onto a ledge. Climb the vine to your north, walk north and climb another vine. You are now at the top of the mountain. Walk west and search the sparkly item in the grass for the Magic Emerald! Now climb back down ONE vine, walk southeast, and enter the cave. * Floor 5 * Walk north through a hole in the wall and go down the stairs. * Floor 4 * Walk south and you will come back to the two doors again. This time choose to walk through the east door. Climb the vine and go back into the cave. * Floor 3 * Walk north past the stairs and open the treasure chest for a Flame Card. Walk southeast and climb the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Walk north and climb another set of stairs. * Floor 5 * Now climb the vine, and at the intersection, walk west to find the Power Gauntlet. Walk east back to the intersection and follow the path south until you exit the cave. * Floor 6 * Climb the vine north and then walk north through the flowers. Now walk back into the cave. * Floor 7 * Follow the path, and at the fork, take the east path. Continue north and walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 8 * Follow the path going north and go down the stairs. * Floor 7 * Walk northeast and go down the stairs. * Floor 6 * Walk southeast and go down the stairs. * Floor 5 * Now walk south and exit the cave. Now walk southeast and enter Simone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.16 Simone Village -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Agility (2), Monster Bait, Antidote, Tempest Jewel Special: Tont joins group Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Amazon Priestess, Blood Pudding, Dark Priest, Devil Scorpion, Elf, Harpy, Hobgoblin, Roper, Summoner, Worm Walk north to the Inn and rest for the night. Ghustan, the traveling merchant, is on the second floor of the Inn and has some new Armor for you to buy. Then, walk into the house to the southwest of the Inn and search the boiling pot for a Source of Agility. The church is not labeled, but the roof of the building has the customary "Church look," similar to the other churches you have visited. Talk to the man standing outside of the house north of the Church. Then talk to the woman inside of that house. Apparently their son took a Magic Cape and is now missing! Search underneath the table in this house for a Monster Bait. Now talk to the man inside of the house to the north of the Inn. He will mention something about "Transformation Powder." Exit the building and walk west out of the screen. Follow the path and you will find a house in the middle of some trees. Enter the house and talk to the magician who will say that he needs the Magic Emerald to complete his potion. Select the Magic Emerald from your item list and "use" it. He will take it from you and throw it into the boiling cauldron. BOOOOOOM! After the explosion, talk to the blob inside of the house and it will follow you. Now, exit the house and walk west between a pair of trees. Then walk north along the house's west wall until you are next to the treasure sitting inside of the house. The wall is hollow at this point, so walk one space east and open the treasure chest for a Source of Agility. Walk back into the main town, and try to walk up the path north of the Inn that leads to the Mystic Shrine. Eventually you will come to a rock blocking the road. Once you reach this point, a magician will tell you that Master Zeon placed the rock there so no one would disturb his meditations. If you talk to some of the people in town, you will hear that Master Zeon is an amazing and powerful magician, maybe even powerful enough to remove Samson's curse! This town is full of useful information about your journey. I recommend taking the time to talk to every person in the town and in the Mystic Tree. Walk north along a narrow path and exit the main town. Walk north, climb the ladder, and enter the Mystic Tree. Walk north until you reach the back of the tree, and then walk down the stairs. Walk south into the room and search the northeast VASE of the group of VASES for an Antidote. Now walk clockwise around the room and walk through the swing door in the middle of the room. Then walk down the stairs and open the treasure chest for a Tempest Jewel. Walk back up the stairs and then go down the staircase to the south. Walk clockwise around the room and go down the stairs. Walk clockwise around the room and go down another staircase. (The door that you passed is locked and can't be opened until later on in the game) Walk north and talk to the main magician of the group. He tries to remove Samson's curse, but fails. He suggests having the master magician Zeon can break the curse, but as you know, he is meditating in the shrine, and the shrine is currently inaccessible. Now, try to walk out of the main entrance of Simone. Just before you leave the town, the yellow blob following you will transform into Tont, the boy who stole the Invisibility Cape. Unfortunately, he also got a dose of Transformation Powder and has been changed into something non-human! Tont will then join your group, becoming the fifth member of your party. Before you head off anywhere, I recommend fighting around Simone until you have raised Tont's level to at least 10. By now you might have realized that you always don't gain the same stats when you level up. Take advantage of this and make sure that when you level up Tont and other new characters, you get them the best stats possible. I also recommend that you raise your other characters levels to around 17 or 18...no joke. This next adventure is really going to test your group, so make sure you have a high enough level. Your next task is to find the Moon Crescent, and to do this, you must walk all the way back to Ophera. As you can imagine, it is a long, long, walk back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.17 Ancient Temple -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Smoke Bomb, Dragon Card, Moon Crescent, Firedrake Vase Special: Enemies Encountered: Amazon, Assassin, Blood Pudding, Bug Bear, Dark Priest, Dire Wolf, Flying Mouse, Gargoyle, Ghost, Ghoul, Harpy, High Ork, Lizard Man, Ork Lord, Roper, Skeleton Warrior, Summoner, Sylph, Thief, Warlock check this! While you are at Ophera, stock up on Mage Potions and by a Guiding Branch, because as I mentioned earlier, this next part is going to be tough. From outside of Ophera, walk west to the mountains and then north along the mountain ridge until you reach the Ancient Temple. Unfortunately, the basement of the Ancient Temple is a big maze, and you will have to use all of your skill to conquer it! * Floor 1 * Enter the Temple, walk north up the steps, and then walk through the door. Walk northeast and go up the stairs. * Floor 2 * Walk west to the other side of the temple and then walk north until you reach a vine. Then, climb down the vine to the previous floor. * Floor 1 * Walk east and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 1 * As you can probably tell, this is where the maze, and all the fun begins! Walk south and go down the steps to you east. Then walk north to the intersection, and follow the path going east. (The path to the north is a dead end) At the end of the path, walk up the steps onto the raised level of this floor. Walk south and step onto the blue diamond shape switch. This will cause part of the floor to move, creating a new pathway. Then, continue along the path and step on the second blue diamond switch to cause part of the floor to move. However, DO NOT take this path, but instead, follow the path to the east. Keep on following this path and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 2 * Walk south and step on the switch. Then, walk north back to the stairs and follow the path going west. Once you reach the end of this path step on the blue switch, and then walk down the steps to your east. Now follow the path going east and you will eventually reach a fork, one path leading south, the other north. Walk north up the path and open the treasure chest for a Smoke Bomb. Then, walk back south and follow the south path until you reach the bottom of the screen. Then follow the path west and walk up a pair of steps that brings your group up onto the raised level. Now step on the blue switch and follow the path east until you reach an intersection. Follow the path going north and walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Walk south and step on to the blue switch. Then walk north and step on the blue switch, which is just north of the stairs. Then walk east past the steps and follow the path south. Once you reach the end of the path, step on the blue switch and then backtrack until you reach the steps you previously passed. Walk down the steps to the lower level of this floor and follow the path for a fairly long distance. At the end of this path, walk up a pair of steps and you will be brought back up to the raised level of this floor. Walk south past the blue switch until you reach the southwest corner of the floor. Then walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 4 * Walk northeast and step on the blue switch. Then follow the path east until you reach another blue switch. Step on this switch and walk northwest to a pair of steps. Walk down the steps going west, (NOT the steps going east), and at the intersection, follow the southwest path. At the end of this path, open the treasure chest for a Dragon Card. Now backtrack northeast and walk up the steps so that you are standing on the raised portion of this floor. Then walk southeast and step onto the blue switch to move the wall again. Then backtrack southwest and step onto another blue switch. (The last two switches you stepped on have "reset" the floor back to its original position. If you don't think that you did this properly, just walk up the steps going back to the third floor, and then walk down them going back to the fourth floor) Once the floor has been reset, regardless of which way you chose to do it, walk northeast until you reach a pair of steps. (The same ones you were at before) However, this time walk down the steps going east. Follow this path and at the intersection, follow the path going east until you reach some steps. Climb up the steps, walk southwest, and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 5 * Walk northwest and step on the blue switch. Then take either path north, and then walk north until you reach another blue switch. Step on this blue switch, and then walk south to the blue switch you first activated. Step on this blue switch again, and walk southeast back to the entrance of this floor. Then walk down the steps and follow the path west. As you follow this path, it will bring you to an open area, and you will have the option of taking a couple different routes. (This happens around the point where you should see some steps that lead to a dead end) At this point, follow the path east, and it will eventually lead you to the northeast corner of this floor. Then follow the path west along the top border of the floor, and then walk up some steps. Now walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 6 * Walk south past a blue switch and continue walking south until you encounter another blue switch. Step on this blue switch, and then walk northeast along the new path. Continue to follow this path until you reach another blue switch. Step on this switch and follow the path west until you are back near the entrance of this floor. Walk south and step on the blue switch that you passed earlier. Then walk west along the new path that was created. Then walk south along the western wall of the floor until you reach some steps. Walk down the steps and follow the path going to the north. Your group will soon come to an intersection. Choose to follow the north path and continue to follow it until you reach a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest for the Moon Crescent! At this point, you can choose to exit the maze by using a Guiding Branch, or walk out of the maze on your own. However, you can also choose to follow this next set of directions that will bring you to a Firedrake Vase. (First, you need to have all the switches reset. To do this, I recommend walking back to the entrance of this floor, walking up the stairs, and then walking back down the stairs. Now, walk south past the first blue switch and continue walking south until you reach another blue switch. Step on this blue switch, and then walk northwest and step on the blue switch that you passed earlier. Then walk northeast and follow this path until you reach another blue switch. Step on this blue switch and walk southeast along the NEW path that was created from stepping on the blue switch. Keep on walking south until you reach some steps leading down to the lower level of this floor. Walk down the steps and continue walking west until you reach an intersection. Follow the path going north until you reach a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest for a Firedrake Vase! Now you can exit the maze by using a Guiding Branch or by retracing your steps all the way back through the floors of the maze) Once you have found your way out of the Ancient Temple, walk southwest to the Port Town of Luna. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.18 Port Town Luna (NIGHT) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Growth, Healing Herb, Monster Bait, Critical Jewel, Statue of Gaea Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Dark Priest, Devil Scorpion, Elf, Mantrap, Skeleton, Summoner, Warlock, Worm Before you enter Luna, use the Moon Crescent, and day will turn into night. Then walk into Luna and get ready for some fun! Once you enter the town, make your way towards the Weapon Shop. As you are walking there, you will begin to notice how different Luna is, mainly because the tide has gone down. Walk down the ladder just south of the Weapon Shop. If you search under the southwest table on the beach, you will find a Monster Bait. As you explore the town, make sure that you walk into the Bar room, which is south of the Weapon Shop on the beach. While you are here, talk everyone in the room, especially the person sitting at the right end of the bar table. He will mention some stuff about Domino, and will then say that "someone was looking for the Moon Crescent, but all he found was a statue." (If this conversation does not take place, talk to everyone in the bar room once again, and then to the man sitting at the right end of the bar table. If you still don't have this conversation with the man, exit Luna and it will return to day. Then go back into Luna, walk west past the Inn, and talk to the man sitting on the south side of the table, who will then talk about the Moon Crescent. Then exit Luna, use the Moon Crescent, and go back into the Bar. Now try talking to the man sitting at the right end of the bar table again. Hopefully, this conversation will now take place) The ladder in the northwest corner of the Bar will lead to a treasure chest with a Source of Growth inside. The steps in the northeast corner of the Bar will lead to a treasure chest with a Healing Herb inside. After you exit the Bar, walk east under the bridge and past the Item Shop. Then walk north and climb the ladder to find a treasure chest with a Critical Jewel inside. Then, walk south on the beach until you are in the south part of town. If you enter the door on the east side of the wall, you will find the Vase Merchant who lost his Vase of Life to Domino the Pirate. If you want, enter the middle door and talk to the couple in the corner. At the end of the sequence, Finn will get a little reward! Make sure that you visit the Weapon/Armor Shop, and that you buy some new equipment for your group. Then, finish exploring the town and exit Luna. Now go back into Luna and walk west past the Inn. Talk to the man on the south side of the table, and he will offer you the Statue of Gaea for the Moon Crescent. Accept his offer, because you will need the Statue of Gaea for the next part of your quest. Once the trade is done, save your game, and exit Luna. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.19 Mist and Rainbow Valley -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Angel Ribbon, Source of Vitality Special: None Enemies Encountered (Mist Valley): Assassin, Dire Wolf, Gargoyle, Lizard Warrior, Ork Lord, Roper, Sylph, Enemies Encountered (Rainbow Valley): Assassin, Bug Bear, Dire Wolf, Ice Warrior, Roper, Sylph To reach the town of Jonowan, you will first have to go through Mist Valley and Rainbow Valley. So, from outside of Luna, walk southeast, and then walk northeast between two mountain ranges. As you do so, you will find yourself in Mist Valley. Walk north to a fork, and then follow the northeast path. Continue walking north until you reach another fork. Now, follow the northeast path and continue to go north between some hills until you reach another fork. If you want, follow the path going west and it will eventually lead you to a treasure chest with an Angel Ribbon inside. Then, backtrack and follow the branch of the fork going east. Walk east and you will come to a small clearing. Continue to walk east, and you will see a stone dragon on the other side of the stream. Stand directly to the left of the dragon and walk towards it. The stone dragon will shoot a chain out of its mouth and bring you to the other side of the stream. Walk north, and make sure that you stay out of the range of the stone dragon on the other side of the stream. (If you are to close to the stream when you walk by, you will be caught by its chain and dragged to the wrong side of the stream) Continue to follow the path, and you will soon come to a stone dragon facing north. Walk to the right side of this stone dragon, and then walk east, which will put you in line with a stone dragon that will pull you to the side of the lake. Then walk to the northeast corner of the island and you will be pulled north. Then walk north to the end of the island you will be pulled north again. Now, from where you are standing, walk 1w 1n 5w 7s 1e 2s 1w 2s 1e, and then south until you are to the right of the treasure. Then, open the treasure chest for a Source of Vitality. Now walk directly north, and you will be pulled to the east shore. Walk north and you will be pulled to the north shore. Walk west, and then follow the path leading north. If you look closely, you will see a ramp to the north that will let you walk onto the ledge. Walk up this ramp onto the ledge, and then walk west. As you walk west, you will be pulled to south. Then follow the path clockwise and it will lead you to another ramp. Walk off the ledge and go north, BUT make sure that you don't get pulled to east shore by the stone dragon you passed earlier. Then, walk north and you will enter Rainbow Valley. Rainbow Valley is much simpler than Mist Valley. First, walk northwest and onto the ledge. Follow the path and go through the waterfall. Then continue to follow the path as it makes its way northwest until you reach a vine. Climb the vine and walk southeast. Then let the stone dragon pull you to the eastern shore. Then walk north, paying special attention NOT to get pulled to western shore by any of the other stone dragons. Follow the path, walk off of the ledge, and then walk northwest and out of Rainbow Valley. Then walk southeast to Jonowan! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.20 Jonowan Village -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Wisdom, Monster Bait, Cure Herb Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Bug Bear, Cockatrice, Dire Wolf, Ork Lord, If you talk to the townspeople, you will find out about a band of pirates that landed on Gaea Island. Walk into the house in the southwest section of town and search the vase to find a Source of Wisdom. You can find Ghustan the traveling merchant standing between the two houses in the northern section of town. I recommend buying at least a couple of Mage Potions from him, because you will certainly need them in the upcoming adventure. If you walk into the Inn, you will find a Priest who will be able to save your game. While you are here, you can also search under the table in the Inn to find a Monster Bait. Now walk to the pond to the west of Inn. Then, search the statue in its center and it will read, "For peace to return to Gaea, the Guardian must be placed with his chosen people. From the center of four, one east and then three north, the new resting place of the Guardian will appear." At the end of this message, a man will run into a house located in the northwest section of town. Walk into this house and talk to the man who will say that the pirate ship is empty, and that the island and shrine are full of monsters! Now that you have this useful information, walk to the northeast corner of town and you should see four rocks that form a square. If you search the bush that is one space north from the center of the four rocks, you will find a Cure Herb. Now, follow the statues hint and walk one east, and three north from the center of the four rocks. Then, use the search command and a statue will come out of the ground! Use the Statue of Gaea that you traded for back in Luna, and it will fit like a key into the statue that just rose from the ground. This will cause the water east of Jonowan to part, forming a land bridge to Gaea Island. Once you are ready, exit Jonowan and walk east to Gaea Island. As soon as you cross the land bridge, it will disappear. However, you will be able to recreate the land bridge so don't panic. Then walk north and into Gaea Shrine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.21 Gaea Shrine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Battle Axe, Steel Plate, Battle Dress, Vase of Life Special: Meet with Domino Enemies Encountered: Assassin, Bug Bear, Cockatrice, Dire Wolf, Gargoyle, High Elf, Ice Warrior, Living Armor, Lizard Warrior, Yeti, Yeti Child * Floor 1 * Walk north and you should see four rocks that from a square, just like you did in Jonowan. If you search the area where the statue is, one east and three steps north from the center of the four rocks, the statue will rise up from the ground. You can then use the Statue of Gaea to recreate the land bridge that leads back to Jonowan. However, this isn't why we came here, so continue north and walk up the stairs. * Floor 2 * On this floor, you will notice that a small circle of light that is surrounding you, limiting what you can see to the size of the circle. Everything else on the floor will remain in complete darkness. Before you start exploring, there are two hazards that you should know about. First, there are fluorescent squares on the ground that will reduce you Magic Points by 5. This is very bad since you are going to need to use your magic spells once you get to the top of the shrine. Secondly, you must also be wary of holes in the ground, similar to those you saw in the Tree Path when you were trying to reach Zalagoon. Since most of the floors are covered in darkness, this means that you should take your time and be careful. So now that you know about these hazards, follow the path east, and continue east past the fluorescent square. Then walk north, west past some statues, and then up the stairs. * Floor 3 * The stairs leading up can be found in the northwest corner of this floor. However, there is an added element of difficulty on this floor. As you follow the path, a statue will begin to follow you, making it impossible for you to walk backwards. From the stairs, follow the path east, and stop in front of the first statue you see. If you look at the statue, you will notice that it's eyes are flashing red and yellow. Now from where you are standing, walk south until you reach a fork. Follow the path going south, and at the next fork, follow the path going southwest. At the end of this path is a statue icon, which enables you to get rid of the statue following you. All you have to do is walk over the statue icon, and have the statue following you step onto it, which will then deactivate it. Now walk east back to fork, and continue along the path going east. Watch out for the hole as you walk east, and then walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Follow the path west until you are standing front of the second statue, which will then be activated. Walk north, and at the fork, follow the path going north. At the end of the path, deactivate the statue by walking over the statue icon, and then walk up the stairs. (Occasionally, a statue will not become deactivated after it moves over the statue icon, just circle around and try once again) * Floor 5 * Walk east, and stop in front of the first statue you see, which will then become activated. Walk south and step onto the statue icon, but don't get off of it. You must step west or north off of the statue icon depending upon which way you first stepped on it, otherwise you will be forced down the east or south path, which will both lead you to a hazard. Now follow the path southwest to the stairs. But before you walk up the steps, you have a decision to make. There is a Battle Axe on this floor, but to reach it, you will first have to go up the steps, and then walk back down them. This will cause the statue to be moved back to its original position, allowing you to explore the eastern section of this floor. Once you have done this, walk east across the statue icon and east over the fluorescent square. Then walk northeast and open the treasure chest for a Battle Axe. Then walk west and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 6 * Walk north along the path until you reach some statues. Then walk northeast past the statues and open the treasure chest for a Steel Plate. Then walk south back to the stairs. Then walk east and you should find a fork with one path going northeast, and the other southeast. Follow the northeast path, and it will soon lead to another fork, with one path going east, and the other northeast. Follow the northeast path until you reach another fork. Follow the path north, and then walk up the stairs to the next floor. (All of the other paths on this floor led to dead ends) * Floor 7 * As soon as your group steps onto the floor, the statue to you south will become activated. To find the statue icon, walk 5 steps west, 4s, 2e, 6s, 4w, 4s, and 2 steps east. At this point, the statue icon will be diagonally across from you. When you walk over the statue icon, either walk east or west across it, do not walk north across the statue icon. If you do walk north off the statue icon, you will be forced either to drop down a floor or walk across a fluorescent square. From directly below where the statue icon was, walk 3 steps west, and then north until you see a treasure chest. Then, open the treasure for a Battle Dress, and then find your way to the northwest corner of this floor where the stairs are. (Specific directions from one space west of the treasure chest, to the stairs in the northwest corner of the floor: 7s, 6e, 4n, 2w, 6n, 8w, and then north) Just as you reach the stairs, a statue will become activated, which means that you can't walk up the stairs unless you get rid of it. To find the statue icon follow these directions. Starting from one right of the stairs leading up to the next floor, walk 6 steps east, 4s, 2e, 2s, 6e, 2s, 2e, 3s, and the statue icon should be right next to you. Then walk back to the northwest corner of the floor and walk up the stairs. (Specific directions from one space east of this statue icon, to the stairs in the northwest corner of the floor: 3n, 2w, 2n, 6w, 2n, 2w, 4n, and then west to the stairs) * Floor 8 * As you will immediately notice, someone finally turned the lights on! Unfortunately, this someone is your next opponent, the Water Demon. Before you begin to explore, heal up your characters, and then walk north to enter into a sequence where you find Domino the pirate and... the Water Demon! At this point in the game your characters should be around level 20. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Water Demon VP: 820-840 Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 500 Location: Gaea Shrine Gold: 200 Special Abilities: Illusion Magic (Lv 1), Ice Magic (Lv 1) Ice Magic (Lv 2), Healing Potion Special Attack: ??? Strategy: This boss's main weakness is Fire Magic. I recommend that Finn use either a Blade attack or Fire Magic, Samson use a Blade attack, Annie use Heal Magic, Edward use Fire Magic, and Tont use the Firedrake Spell. As you get close to defeating the Water Demon, it will start to use Ice Magic (Lv 2), which will deal your group massive damage. All of his other special abilities are not worth worrying about. You may also want to consider having Samson use a Fire Card if you still have any remaining. ________________________________________________________________________________ After beating the Water Demon, walk up to unconscious Domino and talk to him. After a brief discussion, Domino will let you have the Vase of Life since you saved his life and you both have the same general goals. Walk north and search the Vase of Life that is standing on the ground. You will then pick up the Vase of Life and it will go into your inventory. Then use a Guiding Branch or cast the Escape Spell to exit the Shrine. If you haven't already done this, walk back into the Shrine and use the Statue of Gaea to reopen the path back to Jonowan. Then walk south to the end of the island and then west to Jonowan Village. After you have refreshed your group at town, walk back through Mist and Rainbow Valley. Then walk back to Ophera Village and get ready for the next part of your journey. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.22 Magic Vine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Great Mail Special: None Enemies Encountered: High Elf, Ice Warrior, Illusionist, Imp, Living Armor, Mystic Fungus, Naga, Raise, Siren Harpy, Water Leaper, Yeti Walk northwest to the Ancient temple. Then walk north into the building, and then north into the middle room on this floor. Now walk north to the altar and use the Vase of Life, which will then be placed down on the altar. Next, use the Magic Bean and it will be placed in the Vase of Life. This causes the Magic Bean to sprout, forming a vine that will let you reach the Tower of Arawn. Now leave this room, walk east, and then go up the stairs. Walk west, and then up the steps leading to top section of the temple. Climb the vine and you will soon appear in a new screen. Just like the Tree Path you passed through earlier, there is a puzzle element to this journey. There will be points as you explore the different levels where you will have to pick up a water droplet, and place it on a small leaf or flower. This will cause it to sprout, allowing you to bridge a gap or allow you to reach another level of the vine. However, the water droplet will be spilled if you don't reach your destination within 11 steps. * Floor 1 * Walk north to the water droplet and perform the "search" command. Then walk southwest to the flower and search it, which then causes the water to spill onto the flower making it grow into a vine. Then climb this new vine to the next floor. * Floor 2 * Circle counterclockwise around this floor so that you are on the left side of the water droplet to your south. Then carry the water droplet to the flower to your north, and then climb up the vine. * Floor 3 * Follow the path and open the treasure chest for the Great Mail. Then, backtrack and climb back down the vine. * Floor 2 * Now walk northeast to the water droplet and carry it southeast to the flower. Then climb the vine to the next floor. * Floor 3 * Walk to the northeast section of this floor and search the water droplet. Then carry it west to the flower and climb up the vine. * Floor 4 * Walk north to the water droplet, and then carry it south to the small leaf, which will then cause it grow. Then walk north back to the water droplet, carry it west to the flower, and then climb up the vine. * Floor 5 * Walk west to the water droplet and the carry it east to the small leaf. Then follow this new path until you reach another water droplet. Carry some water from this droplet, and then pour it onto the leaf to the west. Now walk east back to the water droplet, and then carry it west to the flower. Then, climb up the vine to the next floor. * Floor 6 * Walk southeast to the water droplet and take some of its water while having your character stand on its east side. Then carry it east and pour it onto the small leaf. Now follow this path past the first water droplet, until you reach the water droplet to the north. Now take some of its water and carry it southwest to the flower. Then climb up the vine to the next floor. * Floor 7 * Walk along the path going west, and then follow it north until you reach a fork. Now follow the east path to the water droplet, and then carry some of its water northwest to the small leaf. Follow this new path past the water droplet, and then passed the flower until you reach another water droplet. Then carry some of its water east to the small leaf. From here, follow the path south until you reach a vine, which will then bring lead you down a floor. * Floor 6 * Walk northeast passed the water droplet, and then passed the flower until reach another water droplet. Scoop up some of the water and then carry it northwest to the flower, which will then bring you back up a floor. * Floor 7 * Walk northeast, and then take some of the water from either of the last two water droplets to the small leaf. Then take some water from the last droplet on that path, (the one about 5 spaces north from the vine), and then walk north to the flower. Then climb up the vine and you will have reached the Tower of Arawn! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.23 Tower of Arawn -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Tempest Sword, Hammer, Ancient Tablet, Light Orb Special: Meet with Arawn Enemies Encountered: Clay Golem, Hell Hound, Illusionist, Imp, Living Armor, Mystic Fungus, Naga, Siren Harpy, Water Leaper, Yeti This tower would be easy to navigate, if there wasn't a difficult puzzle inside that you would need to figure out. This puzzle is based on the concept of day and night, where certain blocks in the floor will be raised during the day, and others during the night. * Floor 1 * Walk north, and follow either the east or west path to the south section of this floor. Go north and take either the east or west path to get to the south, and then walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 2 * Follow the path going west and walk clockwise to the northern section of this floor. Now walk south through a doorway to the middle room of this floor, and then walk up the stairs. * Floor 3 * If you look around, you will notice that the "moon blocks" are raised while the "day blocks" are not, since it is currently daytime in the tower. Follow the west path, and walk clockwise around the room until you are back at the southern section of this floor. Then walk south through the door and you will appear outside of the tower. Once you are outside, if you circle around to the east, you will find your path blocked by a pile of rubble. Therefore, walk west around the outside of the tower and enter the door that has the moon symbol above it. This door will bring you to the northern section of the floor that you were just on, but will have changed the inside of the tower from "day" to "night." Now follow the path west and walk counterclockwise around the outside of the floor until you reach some stairs. Now walk back down the stairs that lead down to the second floor. * Floor 2 * Walk north to the outer edge of the room, and then follow the path east until you reach a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest for the Tempest Sword, and then walk back to the stairs that you just came down. * Floor 3 * Walk north and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Now walk north and go through the door to the outside of the tower. Walk east around the tower until you reach the pile of rubble. If you look directly in front of your characters, you will see a Hammer lying on the ground. So, search the ground and you will pick up the Hammer. Then walk west and go back through the moon door. Walk south back to the stairs, follow the west path, and walk counterclockwise around edge of this floor. At the end of the path, walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 5 * Walk north along the path, and make your way to the north door on this floor, which will then bring you outside of the tower. Now walk west until you reach a large crack in the floor, just before the pile of rubble. Now position your character so that you are facing the crack, NOT standing on it. Then go into your Item List and use the Hammer, which will create a large hole in the ground. Now walk west and fall down through the hole. * Floor 4 * Walk west and go back into the tower through the sun door. Walk north to the stairs, and then follow the east path until you reach a fork. Take either southeast or southwest path, and then walk up the stairs. * Floor 5 * Walk north and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 6 * Walk south and then go through the door to the outside of the tower. Now circle around east, and then walk through the moon door. Once you are back inside, follow the southwest path until you reach the southern section of this floor, near to a door that leads outside the tower. Then, walk north and go up the stairs that are in the center of the room. * Floor 7 * Take either of the paths, and walk north to the wall that has three gemstones on the wall. Search the pink gemstone to restore your VP, and then search the blue gemstone to restore your MP. Then search the middle green gemstone, and any member of your group who has died will be resurrected. Arawn will then appear and explain why he... led your group to the tower! Arawn will then show you "the view" outside, and after a brief sequence, the talk will turn serious. Arawn then mentions the Abyss, also know as the underworld, where the four Vicious ones reside. Near the end of his dialogue, he will give you the Ancient Tablet, and tell you that you will need to find three more pieces before you complete your journey. He will then give each character a Light Orb, which will help you rearrange characters once more people join your group. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.24 Simone (II) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Wind Cloak Special: Sir Samson's curse is removed Enemies Encountered: None Arawn will then teleport your group to the shrine at Simone, the one you were trying to reach, but whose path was blocked by the mystic rock. Master Magician Zeon will then attempt to break Sir Samson's curse, resulting in a magical flash of light. Once you can move, check to see if Master Zeon is all right, and then check on Sir Samson. If you look at your characters status, you will notice that any character that was below level 15, has now been promoted to level 15. I assume that Arawn does this some time during his conversation with you, without anyone noticing. However, the character(s) that have their level boosted will only have a fair to poor attribute increase, compared to normal level gains. Walk south out of the shrine, and then walk east to a treasure chest, which contains a Wind Clock. Now walk west and follow the path to the fork. Follow the west path and you will be brought to a new screen. Continue to follow the path and you will be brought to Simone Village. Take this opportunity to restock any items you need and save your game at the Inn. Now that the Samson's curse is broken, you can go back to Zalagoon and prove your identity to the king! Luckily for you, instead of walking all the way back through Emerald Cave, there is a more direct way to reach Zalagoon. Now walk back along the path that leads to the shrine, and then at the fork follow the north path until you exit the mystic shrine. Now walk north and go into the cave. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.25 Secret Passage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Healing Herb Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bandore Soldier, Blood Pudding, Ghoul, Harpy, Lizard Man, Ork Lord, Roper, Summoner * Floor 1 * Walk northeast and follow the path until you reach a fork. Otherwise, walk down the stairs. * B-Floor 1 * Follow the path as it twists and turns until you reach a fork. Follow north path, and at the next fork, walk along the northwest path until you reach some stairs. Then, walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * On this floor, follow the path until you reach a fork. Walk northwest, and once you pass between a narrow passageway between two mountain ranges, walk northeast until you reach Zalagoon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.26 Zalagoon Town (II) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Guiding Branch, Iron Plate, Cure Herb, Heavy Mail, Music Box, Ring of Power, Monster Bait Special: None Enemies Encountered: Clay Golem, Dark Bishop, Glade, Hell Hound, Imp, Illusionist, Mystic Fungus, Raise, Siren Harpy As soon as you enter the town, you will immediately notice that there is no one walking around. However, there are two buildings that you can enter, the Church and the Inn. Once you are ready to continue, try walking into the castle. A messenger will then come out of the castle and tell you to meet Sir Bison via the sewer passageway. It seems that Advisor Glade is trying to make peace with Bandore! Before you enter the sewers, you should be aware that the monsters down there are much more powerful than then ones you previously fought in the sewers. This list of new monsters is listed above in the "Enemies Encountered" heading. Once you have made you way through the sewers and emerged back into the light, a maid will greet you. She tells you that Sir Bison is waiting, and will open the door for you to enter the castle. Now that you are in the castle, you should see a Pastor, Sir Bison, and some stairs leading down. First, walk down the stairs and walk south into the storage room. Open the two treasure chests for a Guiding Branch and an Iron Plate. Search the right barrel of three at the southern section of this room for a Cure Herb. Search the armor that is directly east from the treasure chest that contained a Guiding Branch to find a Heavy Mail. Then walk back up the stairs and talk to Sir Bison. He will ask if Sir Samson's curse has been broken, and then for you to follow him into the courtyard where Advisor Glade is located. When you enter the courtyard, Glade will be trying to get the king to surrender to Bandore. However, Sir Bison will bring your group to the king who will then grant Samson a second chance to lift the pillar. Samson will succeed, and the king will finally declare that Edward is the real Prince Edward. He will then offer the aid of his army to reclaim Marion, but... Advisor Glade will then swallow a magical pill, transforming himself into a monster. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Glade VP: 945-950 Item Dropped: Exp: 700 Location: Zalagoon (II) Gold: 300 Special Abilities: Multiple Attacks, Healing Potion, Fire Magic (Lv 2) Special Attack: None Strategy: Advisor Glade is very tough since he will frequently cast Fire Magic Level 2. Therefore, Annie will constantly need to be casting Heal Rain, with the other characters using healing items when necessary. I recommend that Finn and Samson attack with their weapons, with Edward casting Fire Magic Level 3, and Tont casting Undhine magic. ________________________________________________________________________________ Once Glade is defeated, the king will let your group rest for the night in the castle. When you wake up, get out of bed and search under the southwest table for a Music Box. This item when used, has 46 songs that you can listen to. Walk south out of the bedroom, and then northwest to the throne room. Talk to the King and Queen, and then from the King's throne, walk west to the stairs. Then go up the stairs and walk south to the cabinets. Search the east most cabinet of the north row of cabinets to find a Ring of Power. Walk back down the stairs and south out of the throne room. Then walk west and enter the first room you find, the cook's room, and search the fireplace for a Monster Bait. If you want, there are some stairs that lead to a library in the room to the west of the bedroom where your group awoke. Once you have everything you need exit the castle. Walk outside into the town and you will find that everything is back to normal. The Item, Weapon, and Armor shop are all selling new and powerful items, which I recommend that you purchase. You now have to somehow find your way back to Marion, and if you talked to the people in the castle, you will have found out that the bridge to Marion is blocked by Bandore Troops. Therefore, you will need to find another way to reach Marion. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.27 Dragon Cave (I) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Healing Herb (2), Smoke Bomb, Thunder Card Special: Sir Norton's and Princess Katherine's graves Enemies Encountered: Bats, Demon Hornet, Flying Mouse, Giant Scorpion, Green Slime, High Ork, Kobold, Mold, Poisonous Frog, Spinning Tail, Thief, Zombie From outside of Zalagoon, walk northwest until you see a cave. The entrance to the Dragon cave is in the far northwest corner of this area of land) * Floor 1 * Follow the path as it loops around, and then cross the bridge. If you follow the path north, you will find a Healing Herb. Then walk south past the bridge and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 1 * Follow the path south, walk east across the bridge, and then go up the steps. Then, walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk south past the lake, and then walk west to a fork. Follow the southwest path and open the treasure chest for a Thunder Card. Then walk back to the stairs and climb back up them to the previous floor. * B-Floor 1 * Follow the path west, north across the bridge, and then walk north through the hole in the wall. Then, continue walking north until you reach a house. There is a treasure chest inside the house that is locked, and if you look to the right of the house, you will see two memorials. One is for Sir Norton, and the other for Princess Katherine of Marion. Oddly enough, Sir Kevin appears to have written the inscription to the tombs... Once you have finished looking around, walk southwest from the house and fall into the hole. * B-Floor 2 * If you look around, you will see the dragon to your south, and an indentation in the floor to your east and west. Walk west and fall down the small indentation in the floor. Open the treasure chest for a Healing Herb and walk west through the hole in the wall. Follow the path and walk down the steps. Then, you will need to walk southeast to the bridge and defeat the Bandore Soldiers guarding the bridge so that the Zalagoon Soldiers can come across. Exit the Mountain Cottage and walk west into the cave. * Floor 3 * Walk west and go down the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 2 * Follow the path and keep on walking southwest. Eventually you will reach the stairs, which will bring you to the next floor. * Floor 1 * Walk west, and then south to the gate. The gate that Percy lowered to allow your group time to escape is now broken. Walk southwest and walk up the stairs. Now walk south out of the building, and then south into the church. If you talk to the person wandering inside, he will tell you that the Pastor has been arresting for aiding Prince Edward and his friends. (If someone in your group happens to be dead, you will notice that a mysterious voice will speak and revive any party member who is dead) Walk south out of the Church and then exit the screen. Walk south, and then east onto the bridge. Walk north into the building and then go down the stairs. Walk down the stairs once more and you will then enter into a battle sequence. The first battle you face will be with two weak Bandore Soldiers who have about 46 VP. The second battle will pit you up against three weak Bandore Soldiers and their Commander, who is in the archer in the back row, right side. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Bandore Soldier (WEAK) (x2) VP: 46 (Each) Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 352 Location: Marion/Zalagoon Bridge Gold: 125 Special Abilities: None Special Attack: None Strategy: These soldiers are very easy to beat. All you have to do is swing your weapons a couple times and they will be defeated. ________________________________________________________________________________ Once these soldiers are defeated, the last and final group will attack you. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Bandore Soldier (WEAK) (x3) VP: 46 (Each) Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 532 (Total) Location: Marion/Zalagoon Bridge Gold: 192 (Total) Special Abilities: None Special Attack: None -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Bandore Soldier (x1) VP: 500-510 Item Dropped: Healing Herb (If anything) Exp: 350 Location: Marion/Zalagoon Bridge Gold: 200 Special Abilities: None Special Attack: None Strategy: There are three weaker Bandore Soldiers. Two are in the front row and the third is in the back room, left side. The stronger Bandore Soldier is the same guy you fought in one the same type of guy you fought in the Secret Passage. Have Samson, Annie, and Finn attack the stronger Bandore Soldier with their weapon, and have Tont and Edward each cast their most powerful attack spell. Once you have done this, have all of your characters use their weapon against the stronger Bandore Soldier, and when necessary, have Annie cast Heal Rain Magic. ________________________________________________________________________________ After the battle, Zalagoon troops will come swarming across the bridge and head towards Marion. Your job here is done, so climb back up the staircases and exit the building. Now head northwest and enter Marion! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.29 Marion Castle -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Smoke Bomb, Steel Key, Tornado Card, Mage's Potion, 2 Source of Defense, Thunder Card, Source of Power Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bandore Soldier (Weaker), Dark Bishop, Evil Summoner, Ogre Now that you are in Marion, you will see dead Bandore and Zalagoon Soldiers lying on the ground. While you are here, rest at the Inn and save your game at the Church. Then walk north into the castle compound and continue on north into the castle. * Floor 1 * Follow the group of Bandore Soldiers up the stairs. * Floor 2 * Continue to follow the escaping soldiers by walking northwest and going down the stairs. * Floor 1 * Once the Bandore Soldiers have went through the gate, walk northeast and try to open the gate. Just as you try to turn the key, the Emperor of Bandore will then leave for Bandore Castle. Now, walk back up the stairs to the second floor. * Floor 2 * Walk east to the main hallway and then south through the door. Now walk west, and then climb up the steps of the west tower. Right before you pass through the door, you will hear Ramue putting a curse mask onto someone. Walk into the room and before you can even attack Ramue, she will leave, but not before she summons some of her monsters to attack your group. Hopefully, the two Ogres and Evil Summoner she leaves behind won't be that difficult for you to deal with. Once they are defeated, they will leave behind the Steel Key. Now walk south out of the west tower and go down the steps. Then walk east to the east tower and walk up the steps to the door. Use the Steel Key and walk inside to find... the King! Now walk back into the castle and go back to the gate where you saw the Bandore Emperor get into his carriage. Open the gate with the Steel Key and walk through the now open gate. Before you even walk five steps, the evil Lord Shutat will walk down the stairs. After a brief conversation with your group, Shutat reveals his intentions to kill Finn, but the cavalry will soon arrive! Shutat and Ramue will choose to retreat, and then they will teleport out of Marion. Your group will now appear in the throne room with the King, his advisor, and other assorted knights. The King will reward your group by allowing you to take whatever you need from Marion's treasury. Sir Galahad will talk to the King about the current situation in the kingdom, and unfortunately for Finn, his father Lord Kevins was taken. Sir Galahad accepts the King's offer to be Commander in Lord Kevins absence, and Commander Galahad decides that Marion's troops will not invade Bandore, but instead rebuild Marion. However, it appears that Sir Samson and Edward are to remain in Marion...no need to worry about it though, trust me ;) Walk south out of the throne room, and Commander Galahad will stop your group. He will then ask if you intend to go to Bandore, and if you also intend to rescue your father Kevins. Respond "Yes" to these questions, then continue south out of the throne room. Walk up the stairs to your east, and you will be in the King's bedroom. Search the dresser on the left and you will find a Tornado Card. Now walk back down the stairs and search the painting to your right. (No, I don't have any idea what this is) Now walk southwest and go down the stairs to main section of the first floor. Walk east into the treasure room and open up all the chests for a Source of Defense, Thunder Card, and Mage's Potion. (Going from left to right) Now, walk into the room directly west of the stairs leading up the second floor, and search under the table for a Source of Power. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.30 Marion Town (II) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Healing Potion, Mage's Potion, Source of Growth Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Now exit the castle and stop by the Weapons/Armor/Item shop. Make sure that you buy a Rune Sword and a Rune Gauntlet. Now is also the perfect time to go back to Annie's house in Isla Village and store some of your items, like the Statue of Gaea, Ancient Tablet, and whatever else you won't need. Once you are ready, walk southwest and you will eventually see the bridge. Walk north into the building, and then go down the stairs. Walk down another set of stairs, and then walk west out of the building. Now, walk west across the bridge, and then go back into the building. Then walk west to the stairs and you will hear Edward and Samson calling down from above. It looks like your group is back together again! Now walk up the stairs, open the treasure chest for a Mage's Potion, and then search the vase for a Healing Potion. Then, walk up the stairs to the next floor and search the vase for a Source of Growth. Walk south out of the building, and then south out of the screen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.31 Bandore Town -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Monster Bait, Ring of Revenge, Unicorn's Horn Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Clay Golem, Dark Bishop, Evil Summoner, Fire Giant, Hell Hound, Illusionist, Ogre, Raise, Razor Demon Now that you are on the other side of the river, walk northwest following the coastline. Continue to follow the coastline as it reaches its northern inland boundary, and then walk along the southwest coastline. (The forest around this area contains creatures that are more powerful than the ones you will be facing, and are therefore not listed since they exist in such a confined and isolated area) Then walk south over the bridge and walk southeast. You will soon see a stream that is flowing north into the ocean. Walk south along the stream until you reach its end, and then walk northeast along the mountain range. Once you reach the tip of the mountain range walk southeast until you reach another stream. Once you reach the end of this stream walk northeast and go into Bandore. Walk into the Inn and search under the unoccupied table for Monster Bait. If you walk to the second floor of the Inn, you will see a treasure chest in the southwest room. However, this treasure chest, like others you have seen, cannot be opened until later on in the game. Now walk to the northeast house in town and search the middle barrel of three on the east side of the house for a Unicorn Horn. Then, walk into the northwest house and search the southeast vase for a Ring of Revenge. Walk outside that house and talk to the lady standing near the east wall of the house. She will tell you that the husband of the family in that house was captured, and that the boy brings his dad food via a secret tunnel. Try to walk into the house, and before you make it to the door, a sequence will occur. The little boy will exit the house and go through a hole in the wall. The hole is roughly one step south and west from the house's chimney. The hole can also be identified by a less dark shadow cast onto the ground due to the hole in the wall. Before you follow him, make sure you go to the Weapon/Armor shop and get your characters better equipment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.32 Bandore Castle -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Flame Scroll, Chain Key, Angel's Ocarnia Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bandore Soldier (Archer), Bandore Soldier (Swordsmen), Clay Golem, Dark Bishop, Evil Summoner, Hell Hound, Ogre, Razor Demon Now, walk through the hole that the boy used, and then go south until you reach the cave entrance. Walk into the cave and follow the path until you reach a fork. Follow the east path north until you reach yet another fork. Follow the west path north until you reach a treasure. Open the treasure chest for a Flame Scroll, backtrack south, and then follow the east path of the fork north. Continue following the path and you will reach an exit, which will lead you to the basement of Bandore Castle. * B-Floor 1 * Walk east to until you reach a group of barrels, and then walk north. Continue on through the door, and then follow the path until you find a soldier standing guard near the library door. Fight the Bandore Soldier (Sword) and he will drop the Chain Key when he dies. Walk to the item and perform a "Search" so that your character will pick up the Chain Key. Then walk northwest and go up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 1 * Follow the path to the intersection, and then watch a sequence takes place. It seems that the cowardly King of Bandore is fleeing and that Sir Kevins is in trouble. Now walk east to another intersection, and then walk south where you will encounter another Bandore Soldier (Archer). Now walk south and exit the castle. (The exit to the castle can be found by going directly south from the enemy archer and going through the indentation in the wall) Walk east and then north along the castle's outer walls until you reach a treasure. Open up the treasure chest for an Angel's Ocarina, and then walk back into the castle via the same entrance you exited. Now walk north until you see reach two staircases, one on either side of you. Walk down the east stairs and you find Bandore's Dungeon. (There are three more soldiers on this floor, one guarding a room in the west side of the castle, one in the southeast corner of the castle, and the last in the southwest corner of the castle) * B-Floor 1 * Walk south to the last row of dungeon cells, and the walk east to the last cell in this row. Use the Chain Key on the door and talk to Sir Kevins, who will then talk about who you really are. (At this point I chose not to summarize this conversation, since it would so obviously be a "spoiler") (While you were walking east to find Sir Kevins, you may have seen a treasure chest in the adjacent cell. You are unable to open this treasure chest until later on in the game) After he is done talking, Sir Kevins will tell you to leave him. Walk north and go up the steps that you used to reach the dungeon. Just as you leave, a pair of soldiers will come down the other set of stairs and prepare to bring Sir Kevins to the Volcano! * Floor 1 * At this point, I chose to backtrack all the way back to the town so that I could save my game and go the Inn. If you are ready to continue on, walk west to the other set of stairs and then climb them to reach the throne room. * Floor 2 * Walk south out of the room, and you will emerge outside of the castle on a balcony. Walk east, continue on down some steps, and then walk east to reach the Volcano. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.33 Volcano -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Silver Key, Death Hood, Robe of Darkness, Critical Orb, Gold Key, Healing Potion, Wind Vase Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bandore Soldier (Archer), Bandore Soldier (Swordsmen), Clay Golem, Dark Bishop, Evil Summoner, Fire Giant, Ogre, Phantom Armor, Pyro-Hydra, Razor Demon, Stone Golem, Vampire Bat, Wyvern Walk east and follow the pathway. While you are walking, you will walk into one of Shutat and Ramue's traps. Just before they leave you, Ramue summons four monsters to do battle with your group (2 Phantom Armor Wyvern and 2 Phantom Armor). Defeat the monsters, and a mysterious warrior, the Black Knight, will drop down the Silver Key for you to use on the doors. Search to pick up the Silver Key, and then use it on the doors. Now, continue following the path east, and then walk up to flights of steps. Then walk north and you will reach a fork, with one path going southwest, and the other east. Make note of the path going southwest, because you will need to follow it once you have the Gold Key. However, you still need to rescue Sir Kevins, so follow the path going east and you will eventually find the cave entrance. Now, walk into the cave. * Floor 1 * Walk north, and you will see some lava on the floor, which will deal 1 VP damage to you for every time you step onto a square with lava. Continue to walk north past the lava, and follow the path as it goes twists and turns until you reach some stairs. Walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 2 * Here, your characters start out in the center area of this floor. First, walk northwest corner through the lava and open the treasure chest for the Death Hood. Now walk southeast out of the lava, and then walk northeast to a path that leads south. Follow this path south, and then walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 3 * Walk east, and then follow the path leading north. At the end of this path, open the treasure chest for the Robe of Darkness, and then walk south back to the main path. Walk east, and then walk up the next path leading north. Walk across the lava, and at the end of the path, walk up the stairs. * Floor 4 * Walk northeast across the lava and open the treasure chest for a Critical Orb. Now walk back south, and then follow the path clockwise until you reach the exit. Walk south out of the cave and into the heart of the volcano. Follow the path northeast, and you will eventually reach some steps leading down. (Just east of these steps, you will notice a cave entrance with a rock blocking the path. After going east for sometimes you might notice a cave entrance that has a rock in front of it. I think that this cave supposedly leads to Zeal, a town that you reach later on in the game, but there is no known way of getting past the rock and into the cave. Walk down the steps, and follow the path as it leads deeper and deeper into the heart of the volcano. Eventually, you will walk into a sequence, with Sir Kevins hanging over molten lava. Walk east, untie the rope, and then walk south to pull him back up to land. Just as he steps onto solid ground, he transforms into Magician Yeon. Sir Kevins to the rescue! Apparently, the Black Knight set Sir Kevins free, which enabled him to come to your aid. After the noble sacrifice by Sir Kevins, which brings death to Magician Yeon, Arawn will speak to you, urging you to continue on with your journey. Once Arawn is done speaking to you, walk into the small cave that is east of the ropes that were holding Yeon. Follow the path north, and at its end, you will find the Gold Key lying on the ground. Search to pick up the Gold Key and cast the Escape spell, which will then bring you all the way back to the entrance of the Volcano. Now, follow the path east to the fork that I mentioned earlier. (The one that has one path going east to the Volcano, and the other path going southwest) Follow the path southwest, and then use the Gold Key to open the door. Follow the path north and into a cave. Walk northwest for a while, and then exit the cave. Follow this path north, and then west until you reach the dock area. Walk north across the planking, and you will see two ships battling each other. Eventually, the ship controlled by Shutat and Ramue will destroy the other ship. They will then... fire on the Emperor of Bandore, killing him and his guards! I guess they didn't like him either ;) Just as Ramue suggests firing the cannons at Finn, a dragon, the one from the cave that you past through earlier will appear, forcing your enemies to flee towards Bandore. Once the sequence is over, walk north and search the first barrel to your east for a Healing Potion. Then walk west and search the north of the two western most barrels for a Wind Vase. Then walk back southeast across the plank to get back to solid land. Just as you cross the wooden planking, Domino the Pirate will talk to you, and then join your group. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.34 Domino's Ship -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: 2 Healing Herbs, Dragon Card, World Map, Ancient Tablet Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Walk north and step onto Domino's Ship. Once you are on his boat, make sure that you don't talk to him right away. First, walk down the stairs found on the west side of the ship. Then, walk down another set of stairs to your north, and open the treasure chests to your west for 2 Healing Herbs and a Dragon Card. Then walk back up the stairs, and walk east past the stairs leading back up to the deck. Continue walking east and then walk down this new set of stairs. You are now in Domino's private room. Search under the table for a World Map, a unique item that you will find to be very useful. If you want, you can read the books in his bookcase, which talk about the Vase of Life and Domino's quest for revenge. Now walk back up to the top deck and talk to Domino. He will then join your actual group, which forces you to leave one of your group members behind. Choose to place whichever character you want to leave your group in Marion Town. (Remember, you can use the piece of the Light Orb you have to transport to the town where you have your spare characters. Remember, the Light Orb will not work if you are in a Town. Cave, Dungeon, etc.) Once you're in control of the boat, dock your boat and walk into Bandore. Now, walk into the castle and go down to the basement where you fought the guard for the Chain Key. (Not the dungeons) Walk southwest and go down the stairs. Walk up to the gate and use the Gold Key. Walk into the room and search the object on the wall for an Ancient Tablet. Then, walk back up to the throne room and talk to Sir Galahad. Walk back into town, stock up on any items that you need, and then exit the town. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.35 Leave Village (Check funky square behind Inn ****) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Resist Orb, Demon's Leather, Reviving Herb, Monster Bait, Guiding Branch Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Demon's Pet*, Devil Insect*, Evil Summoner, Giant Goblin, Huge Gel, Metal Golem*, Necromancer*, Razor Demon, Red Dragon*, Succubus, Undead Knight*, Undead Lector*, Vampire Bat, Venom Giant, Wyvern Now, get into your ship and sail north just past the mountain range to the east. Then sail a little east so that the mountain range is now west of your ship. Now sail south following the mountain range, and you will eventually see some grassland between your ship and the mountain range. Continue to sail south along the coastline until you see some of the darker type of grassland. Sail south for about a dozen spaces and then dock your ship on the land to the south. Walk south and enter the Village of Leave. (If you follow directly adjacent to the coastline, there will be a period of time where you are able to see part of the town in the southwest corner of your screen) Walk north and enter the building, which turns out to be Inn. Search under the bed in the corner of the building (the bed on the left) for a Resist Orb. Exit the Inn and walk north into the house that is in it's own separate clearing. Search the vase in the northeast corner of the house for the Demon's Leather armor. Walk southwest to the Weapon/Armor and Item shop, and then walk north behind the building until you standing next to the two bushes. Then search the bush on the left for a Reviving Herb, which is a very rare item. The house southwest of the Weapon/Armor and Item Shop has a Monster Bait under the table. The Church can be found in the northwest part of town. (If you are having trouble reaching the Church, walk directly north from the house that had the Monster Bait inside) There is a Guiding Branch hidden under the left of the two bushes behind the Church. While you are here, you may want to consider buying some new Weapons and Armor for your group. If you choose to buy new equipment, you may have seen some weapons and armor that no character could equip. This is because you have yet to "advance" your characters by completing the quest at Discipline Island. Once you have completed that quest, your characters will be able to equip their respective weapons and armor. Once you are ready, exit the Village of Leave and walk north to your ship. (You can find extremely powerful monsters adjacent to the mountain range west of the Village of Leave. These monsters are listed above and can be identified by the asterik (*) mark next to their name) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.36 Barbaros Castle (I) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: None (Read note at end of this section) Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Dark Elf, Evil Summoner, Giant Goblin, Griffin, Huge Gel, Hydra, Succubus, Vampire Bat, Vampire Worm, Venom Giant From outside of Leave, walk north and get into your ship. Now follow the coastline southeast and continue to follow the coastline as it turns south, west, and then northwest. As you continue to sail northwest along the coastline, you see mountainous terrain to your east, and eventually come to an opening that leads farther into the landmass. These rivers will lead to a "dead end" area, so pass by this opening and continue sailing northwest. Continue to sail northwest along the coastline, which should now have shoals alongside of the land, which prevent you from docking in this area. After sailing much further along the coastline, you should see another opening with a river leading farther into continent. Sail your ship into the river and sail east until you reach a fork. Follow the branch of the river going east, and at the next fork, choose the branch of the river that leads northeast. Follow this river as it travels northeast, and after sailing for a few more seconds, disembark so that you are standing in the forest to the north. Follow the path north through the forest, which will turn into mountainous terrain, and after a few twists and turns, you will reach Barbaros. Walk north through the castle gates and you will eventually enter a sequence where Lorele, the King's daughter, practices fighting the castle's soldiers. Once this sequence is done, walk north and into the castle. Walk north through the door and talk to the King. He asks if you have an important mission, (answer Yes), and says that he will listen to you if you prove your worth at Discipline Island. Now walk back south out of the throne room and outside to the main castle compound. The door to the east will bring you to the east wing of the castle, which has a Church and the castle dungeons. The door on the west side of the castle compound will bring you to the castle Inn, Weapon/Armor, and Item shop. Buy whatever equipment you need, most likely for Samson and Domino, and then exit Barbaros Castle. *** (There are some items that you could potentially get at this time, but I choose to include instructions on how to get these items in section 4.38 of the walkthrough) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.37 Discipline Town -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Healing Potion, Chaos Shield, Source of Courage, Blizzard Scroll, Heavy Shield, Source of Power, Mystic Blade Special: None Enemies Encountered (Labyrinth): Black Aerial, Dark Elf, Evil Summoner, Giant Goblin, Huge Gel, Hydra, Minotaur, Pyro-Hydra, Venom Giant Overworld - Evil Summoner, Giant Goblin, Huge Gel, Hydra, Minotaur, Succubus, Venom Giant, Wyvern You now have to find Discipline Town, and luckily for you, there are many different ways for you to do this. 1. The easiest way to reach Discipline Town is to use the Light Orb (once you are out of Barbaros), which will then teleport you to the town where your sixth character can be found. Then, have this character join your group and send one of your characters to Port Town Luna. Now exit whatever town you are in and use the Light Orb to get to Luna. Then get into your ship, sail west, and and you will soon reach an island. Dock your boat just north of the shoals and walk west to the town, which looks like a Temple. 2. The second way is to exit Barbaros, walk back to your ship, and follow the river out to sea. Then sail southeast to the eastern tip of the continent where the Village of Leave is located. Then sail northeast and dock at the first island that you reach. Then, walk north and enter the town. Before I get to your actual mission, here is a list of all the items you can find in town. There is a Healing Potion in the barrel located in the southwest house of town. Then go into the house connected to the Weapon/Item shop in the northeast part of town. If you search the barrel in this house you will find the Chaos Shield. Now talk to the girl standing in front of the house north of the Church. (Apparently, she seems to think you are quite the stud, and offers you some entertainment once you complete labyrinth. Walk north into her house and search the vase for a Source of Courage. Now, remember those weapons you weren't able to equip? Once you complete the task below, any character over the level of 20 will have the option to raise their "class." This will not only enable them to equip more power pieces of armor and weapons, and learn better magic, but each character that advances will begin at level 1. This means that you get to keep all your previous stats, but now need less experience to advance to higher levels. But before you try to attempt this task, make sure that you give Finn some Mage Potions! Once you are ready to continue, walk north through town to the next screen. Then walk north and into the temple. Now walk into the southeast room in the shrine and search the southeast vase on left side of the room for a Blizzard Scroll. Then, walk north and talk to the man in the purple robe. He will ask if you are ready to accept the challenge, which you should answer with a "yes." Your group then selects Finn to complete this task. Walk north through the metal gates to the next screen. Walk north and go up the stairs. (You can only climb the stairs from the appropriate side) Then walk east past the purple tiles and continue to walk northeast until you reach the first accessible red tile. Step onto this tile and walk 4 steps west, 4 steps north, and then west onto land. Open the treasure chest for a Heavy Shield, and then jump off the land, which will bring you back down a floor. Now walk southwest and climb back up the stairs. Now walk north and step onto the purple tile. Now walk 1 step north, 2 steps west, 1 step north, and then 1 step west onto the red tile. Then walk 3 steps west, 6 steps north, and then 2 steps west onto the gray/green tile. Now walk three steps north onto the red tile. Then walk 4 steps west, 5 steps north, and then 1 step east onto the purple tile. Finally, walk 1 step west, 2 steps north, 2 steps west, and then north onto land. Walk north and open the treasure chest for a Source of Power. Now walk off the land so that you fall back down a floor, but this time onto a slightly more elevated level. Walk southeast and then climb back up the stairs. Walk west onto the red tile, walk 4 steps north, and then 1 step west onto the gray/green tile. Then walk 1 step north, and then 4 steps east onto the purple tile. Walk 1 step west, 2 steps north, 2 steps west, and then 3 steps north onto the gray/green tile. Now walk 1 step north, 4 steps east, 1 step north, 2 steps east, 2 steps south, and then search the treasure chest for the Mystic Blade. Your character will now become a "Hero," and you will be warped out of the maze back to the Priest in purple robes. He will now give you the option of raising the class of any character that is over the level 20. I would recommend advancing every character that is able to be raised a class. Now walk south and go back to the main part of town. Then go the house that had the girl standing in front who talked about giving you something special once you completed the labyrinth. She will give your group a nice special brew to drink, and then if you talk to her again, she will ask if you want to "settle down." Now go back to the Weapon/Armor store and equip your characters with some new and powerful armor. Then exit the town, and you will immediately see that Steiner has also grown into an adult dragon! Steiner will now be able to fly you around the world, over water, grass, etc., but not over very high mountain ranges. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.38 Barbaros Castle (II) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Ancient Tablet, Bronze Key, Healing Jewel, Wind Bandanna, War Rod, Demon'sauntlet, Thunder Scroll Special: Wandering Merchant Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Dark Elf, Evil Summoner, Giant Goblin, Griffin, Huge Gel, Hydra, Succubus, Vampire Bat, Vampire Worm, Venom Giant Climb onto Steiner and fly to Barbaros Castle. As soon as you walk into the castle, you will notice that something has happened. Ramue and Shutat flew over the castle and destroyed it with their battleship. Walk into the throne room and you will see the king collapsed in front of his throne. Talk to the King and he will tell you to take the Ancient Tablet. Once he dies, walk behind the throne and search the Ancient Tablet on the wall to pick it up. Exit the throne room and walk back to the main courtyard. Then walk east and go through the door, which will place you in the east wall of the palace. Walk north past the Church and stop in front of the stairs leading down to the dungeon. Then walk three steps south and walk east THROUGH the wall to find a secret room. Talk to the guard who will then give you the Bronze Key. Then walk north through the door and go down the stairs. Walk south and use the Bronze Key to open the door. Enter the room and Lorele will push you aside and run up the stairs to find her father. Take the time to open the three treasure chests in the room for a Healing Jewel, Wind Bandanna, and a War Rod. Now return to the throne room, and you will see Lorele saying goodbye to her dead father. Once she is finished, she will join your group, and meet you back outside the castle by the main gate. But before you leave the throne room, walk east and climb the stairs. Walk south and go through the door that brings your group outside onto the castle battlements. Now walk northeast and search the barrel farthest east for the Demon's Gauntlet. Now walk southeast and go back inside the castle. Then, work your way to the west side of this floor and then go through the door, which will bring you to the battlements on the other side of the castle. Walk northwest and search the vase on the west side of this section for a Thunder Scroll. From here, walk south and continue following the outer edge of the battlements. The Traveling Merchant, who is under the east gate tower, will eventually stop your progress. So once you cannot walk any further, use the Talk command and you will be able to talk to him. As you can see, he sells some of the best items in the game. He will also be here whenever you want to return to buy more items. Buy whatever you need and walk back down to the main courtyard of the castle. Then walk south, and just before you completely leave Barbaros Castle, Lorele will stop and join your group. This means that you now have to have another member of your group leave. Once you have chosen this member, select to leave him at Leave Village. Then exit Barbaros and use the Light Orb to reach Leave Village. (If you haven't noticed by now, when you use the Light Orb, Steiner and your ship will relocate to the town you teleport to) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.39 Merlin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Tornado Scroll, Tempest Orb Special: Revive Spell Enemies Encountered: None From outside of Leave Village, walk northeast and get into your boat. Then sail east along the coastline until the coastline turns south. Now sail south, and keep on sailing directly south across the ocean until reach land, which will be covered in forest terrain. Now sail northeast along the coast until you reach a mountain range. Sail around this mountain range, and then sail southeast so that you are between the mountain range that you just passed, and the one to your east. Sail south to where the mountain ranges meet, and then step off the boat and onto the spot where the mountain ranges join together. If you don't step directly into the cave, just walk one step east and you will enter the cave. Walk south and take either the path going southeast, or the one leading southwest. Follow either path to the room in the middle of the cave. Search the engraved vase between the torches and the master magician Merlin will appear. He will tell you that Arawn asked him to wait here until someone came and found him. He will then offer any character you choose to learn the spell Revive. If you are ready to learn the spell, select your desired character, and he/she will learn the spell. I personally recommend giving this "very special" spell to Annie. (Your character will only be able to learn the spell if they have advanced to their new class at Discipline Town) Once you have learned the spell search the torch to the left for a Tornado Scroll, and the torch to the right for a Tempest Orb. Then exit Merlin's Cave and use the Light Orb to warp to any town, though preferably Marion Town. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.40 Mistrall Village (I) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Ice Ring, Monster Bait, Dragon Scroll, Cursed Bandana Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Basilisk, Griffin, Hell Hound, Huge Gel, Hydra, Raise, Vampire Worm, Venom Giant From outside of Marion Town, get onto Steiner and fly west until you are stopped by a high mountain range. (You are able to reach the cave in the valley that is surrounded by the high mountain range later on in the game) Then fly north until you reach the point where you are able to continue flying west. Keep flying directly west until you see a town. Now land Steiner on the grassland terrain and enter the village of Mistrall. As usual, here is a list of all the items you can find in this village. First, walk west just past the Church, and then walk north along the Church's west wall. Keep on walking north until you see a bridge, which leads to an island where a boy is walking around. Search the bush that is on the island for the Ice Ring! Walk west back across the bridge, and go into the building below your group, which is a Weapon/Armor and Item shop. Buy some new equipment, exit the building, and then walk west across the bridge to the smithy. Talk to the smith and he will tell you that he can forge new Weapons/Armor for you if you bring him Mithril Silver from the cave to the east (The cave he is talking about is the one you are unable to reach until later on in the game) Exit the smithy, walk east back across the bridge and then walk south until you reach a house. Walk to the front of the house and then walk through the door. Search under the table, and you will find a Monster Bait. Exit the house and walk south to the back of the next house. Walk west and search the bush to find a Dragon Scroll. Walk south to the front of the building (Inn), and then walk east across the bridge. Now search the left wood pile in front of the house for the Cursed Bandanna. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.41 Pity Island -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Mage's Jewel, Power Knuckles, Throwing Knife, Battle Gi, Ancient Tablet Special: None Enemies Encountered: Basilisk, Black Aerial, Burial, Dark Elf, Evil Shaman, Fenril, Griffin, Hippogriff, Manticore, Minataur Lord, Poltergeist, Pyro-Hydra, Stone Golem, Wight Your next step is to collect the piece of the Ancient Tablet found at Pity Island. To reach Pity Island, first exit Mistrall and either fly southeast, or use the Light Orb to reach the Bandore Town. Then get onto Steiner, fly north just past the tip of the mountain range, and then fly east until you reach an island surrounded by reefs. Keep on flying until you see a building in the middle of the island. Land Steiner close to this building and walk into the "Tower." Before you start exploring the cave, it is important to realize that the "trick" to this cave is that you will need to touch mushrooms that either shrink your characters or bring your characters back to normal size. I have written detailed instructions below on when to do this. * Floor 1 * Walk north along then path and continue to follow the path as it turns east. You will soon reach a fork in the road that has one path leading south, and the other continuing southeast. Walk down the path leading south and open the treasure chest for a Mage's Jewel. Then walk north back to the fork and follow the path going east. At the end of this path, walk up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 2 * On this floor, walk north and touch the green mushroom to shrink your characters. Now walk southwest, and then go north through the hole in the wall. Then go west and touch the red mushroom to get bring your characters back to their normal size. Then go back east and up the stairs. * Floor 3 * Walk west between the red mushrooms until you see the green mushroom on the west wall. Touch this mushroom and you will shrink back down. Now walk counterclockwise around the red mushrooms, paying special attention NOT to bump into any red mushrooms. You will eventually see a hole in the northeast wall, which you should go through. Then touch the red mushroom to get bigger and climb up the stairs to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Walk west, past the paths leading south until you reach the green mushroom. Touch the green mushroom and then walk west a couple steps to the hole in the ground. Walk into this hole and you will fall down a floor. * Floor 3 * Open the treasure for the Power Knuckles and then hop onto the leaf to ride across the lake. Then walk counterclockwise around the red mushrooms again. Walk back through the hole in the wall, touch the red mushroom, and then climb back up the stairs. * Floor 4 * Walk west to the hole that you just fell down through, but this time DON'T touch the green mushroom. Instead, walk south and then climb up the ladder to the next floor. * Floor 5 * Walk north and touch the green mushroom to shrink your characters. Then walk east and go south through the hole in the wall. Then walk east and open the treasure chest for a Throwing Knife. Now walk west and then go north back through the hole in the wall. Then walk west to the wall and touch the red mushroom to bring your characters back to size. Then walk north up the steps and then climb up the ladder. * Floor 6 * Walk north up the steps, then walk west and go down the other steps. Then walk south, avoiding the larger holes, and touch the green mushroom at the south end of this floor. Then walk north, avoiding all the holes, and hop onto the green leaf, which will then carry you east across the lake. Then touch the red mushroom to get bigger and fall down the hole. * Floor 5 * Walk north and climb up the ladder. * Floor 6 * Walk north and go up the ladder to the next floor. * Floor 7 * Walk along the east path and touch the green mushroom. Then walk west back to the ladder, north, and through the hole in the wall. Then walk southwest and hop onto the leaf, which will carry you south across the lake. Walk west past the red mushroom, and then go north through the hole in the wall. Now touch the red mushroom to get bigger, walk east, and climb the ladder. * Floor 8 * Walk east and touch the green mushroom to shrink your character. Then line your character up so that he is standing directly south of the red mushroom. Then walk south and you will pass through a hole in the wall. Open the treasure chest for a Battle Gi and go back north through the hole in the wall. Touch the red mushroom and go back down the stairs to the previous floor. * Floor 7 * Now touch the green mushroom to your south, walk west, and then go south back through the hole in the wall. Now walk south and hop onto the leaf, the leaf that is directly south of the hole, and you will be brought all the way to the other side of the floor. Walk north through the hole in the wall and touch the red mushroom to get bigger. Then, climb up the ladder. * Floor 8 * Walk southwest and touch the green mushroom to shrink your characters. Then get onto the leaf to your north, which will carry you across the lake. Then walk north to the next leaf, being careful not to touch a red mushroom or fall down the hole. Get onto this next leaf and ride it north across the lake. Then search the Ancient Tablet on the wall to add it to your inventory. Now use either the Escape Spell or a Guiding Branch to exit the Tower. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.42 Arawn's Four Shrines -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Evil Scale, Fire Ring, Cursed Scarf Special: !!! Enemies Encountered: None Now make sure that you have all four pieces of the Ancient Tablet in your inventory. You should have gotten one from the Tower of Arawn, the basement of Bandore Castle, Barbaros Castle, and Pity Island. Now get onto Steiner, and fly over the ocean in the center of this world. If you look at the World Map that you found in Domino's ship, you should see four islands forming a diamond like shape in the middle of this ocean. Beginning at Discipline Town, fly north and land at the first island you see. Walk into the shrine and talk to the man guarding the shrine. Then walk north and use the Ancient tablet while standing directly in front of its holding place. The Ancient Tablet will fit into place and a blue light will begin to shine from over the top of the shrine. Now search the northwest torch on this island to find the Evil Scale. Then walk south and exit the shrine. Now fly north and you will eventually see a part of the ocean that is surrounded by reefs. You should notice something weird in the middle of this area... I wonder what it could be? Now sail east, land on the island, and walk into the next shrine. Walk northwest and put another piece of the Ancient Tablet into its designated location in the shrine. There are no items to be found in this shrine. Fly west over the area of the ocean surrounded by reefs, and then continue sailing west until you reach the next island. Walk into the shrine, walk east, and put the next Ancient Tablet into its designated place. If you search the left torch of the two torches below where the Ancient Tablet fits into place, you will find the Fire Ring. Now walk west and exit the shrine. Climb onto Steiner and fly east back to the area of the ocean surrounded by reefs. Then fly north to the last of four islands. If you talk to the man guarding the shrine he will talk about a "Flying Palace." Follow the path and place the last of the Ancient Tablets into its respective spot and... Each blue light from the shrines will shoot across the ocean, meeting in the direct center of the part of the ocean that is surrounded by reefs, thereby causing the "Flying Palace" to appear. Now search the torch southeast of the where the Ancient Tablet was placed to find the Cursed Scarf. Then exit the shrine, purchase some supplies, and save your game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.43 Flying Palace -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Cloak of Darkness, Devil Ribbon, Mage's Jewel, Battle Shield, Torch, Silk Scarf Special: !!! Enemies Encountered: Burial, Ekidona, Evil Shaman, Fenril, Green Dragon, Hippogriff, Manticore, Minataur Lord, Stone Golem, Wight Now, go back to the Flying Palace and have Steiner fly directly over the top of it, which will then cause you to enter the Flying Palace. * Floor 1 * Walk east and follow the path going north until you reach a small room. Walk onto the space that is in the northeast corner of this room and you will fall down into a hidden area. * B-Floor 1 * Walk south and at the fork, continue following the path south. Open the treasure chest for the Cloak of Darkness, and then walk back to the fork in the path. Follow the west path of the fork and climb up the stairs. * Floor 1 * Your group will now come out from behind the right mummy state. Walk east again and follow the path north, but you reach the room in the northeast corner, walk west and go down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 1 * Follow the path south until you reach a fork. Take the east path, and then continue walking northeast towards the two hieroglyphics on the wall. Directly below the hieroglyphic on the east wall there is a button. Step on this button, which will then cause the spikes blocking your path to disappear. Then walk north and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 2 * Walk east and at the fork follow the path going south. This path will soon divide again, with two paths going south. This time, walk down the eastern path of the two and follow the path until you are stopped by a mummy statue. Walk south into the mummy statue, which will then cause it to slide to the left. Now walk west to last passage on the western side of the room. Then follow this path north and open the treasure chest for the Devil Ribbon. Follow the path going east, and at the fork, choose to follow the path going south, which will then fork again. Walk south along the western path of the two, and walk into the mummy statue at the end of the path, which will cause it to move a space south. Then push the mummy statue to the eastern side of the floor, so that is lined up with the east side of the path going north. Then push the statue north and onto the button, which will then deactivate the spikes blocking your path. Walk north and search the eastern mummy statue north of the stairs to find a Mage's Jewel. Then walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Walk south and at the fork walk east until you reach another fork. Choose to follow the path leading south, and then follow the path west until you reach another fork. You should now see an empty torch holder to your west and some lit torches to your east. Walk west past the empty torch holder and continue walking west past the other paths leading north until you are reach the western side of this floor. If you look to your north, you will see three passages going north. Follow the middle passage going north until you see a small path leading to the western path of the three, and continue walking north until you are in the northwest corner of this floor. Then walk east along the northern boundary of this floor until you reach the treasure chest, which has a Battle Shield inside. Now walk east and follow the eastern path of the three south until you reach a small room to your east. Walk into this room and search the mummy statue to find the Torch. Walk south back to the southern end of this floor, and then walk east until you reach the empty torch holder. Now go into the inventory of the character who is holding the Torch, and "Use" it while facing the empty torch holder, which will then cause it to be lit. This in turn causes the large block obstructing your pathway to move south. Once the block has finished moving, walk west and then follow the first passageway going north. Then continue following the paths north until you reach the stairs, which will bring you down to the next floor. * B-Floor 4 * Walk south until you are stopped by some spikes that pop up out of the floor. Then walk west all the way to the western end of this floor, which puts you south of a small room. Walk north into this room and open the treasure chest for a Silk Scarf. Walk south out of this room, and then walk east past all of the spikes that come out of the floor in the large room. Keep on walking east until you reach a small passage going south. Then walk southeast into the small room and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 5 * Walk north along the path, and at its end, push the mummy statue onto the switch, which will cause as staircase to appear in the room to your west. Walk south back down the path and then walk west to the mummy statue. Push this mummy statue north until it is directly in front of the sphinx. Then walk east and go down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 6 * Walk south and follow the path until you reach a mummy statue. Push this mummy statue west onto the switch, and then walk west to the next mummy statue. Push this statue east onto the switch and walk northwest to the last mummy statue. Push this mummy statue east onto the switch, which will cause the door leading to the middle room on this floor to be opened. Walk back southeast and go north through the now open door. Then step into the center of the engraved circle in the floor, which will cause the Flying Palace to come out of the ocean and float in the air. Just as this takes place, a ship with Dagoot, who is one of the Lord Shutat's minions, fires a gigantic grappling hook to prevent the Flying Palace from completely emerging from the ocean. Steiner attempts to remove this grappling hook, but Dagoot comes out of the ship and confronts Steiner. Dagoot then shoots Steiner with a magical arrow, inflicting a grievous wound upon Steiner, who then falls to the ocean. Steiner then uses the last of his strength to smite Dagoot, and then removes the grappling hook from the Flying Palace. Dagoot then disappears, leaving to join back up with his master. Steiner struggles to keep in the air, but slowly falls into the ocean until he disappears under the surface of the ocean! The scene then shifts to Finn and the rest of the group, who are all distraught with the death??? of Steiner. Your group then renews their determination to stop Shutat and the rest of the "Vicious Ones". Once this scene is over, fly the Flying Pyramid to the Village of Leave, where you should rest your group and save your game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.44 Arawn's Fifth Shrine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Magic Staff, Seraphic Ring, Final Tablet Special: None Enemies Encountered: Dagoot, Lich, Necromancer Now fly to Barbaros Castle and position yourself so that you are about 10 spaces west of the castle. Then fly south until you reach a small island with a shrine. Land the Flying Palace and enter the shrine. Walk north and enter the temple. * Floor 1 * Walk north and you will eventually come to a row of torches. Walk up the steps onto the raised platform and search the west torch to find a Magic Staff. Walk back down the steps and walk to the northeast corner of this floor. Position your character so that he is to the left of the eastern most torch. Then use the search command while facing this torch, and it will move aside revealing a stairway going down. Walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 1-8 * Walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 9 * Walk northwest to the raised platform and try to climb the steps. But before you are able to, Sir Dagoot arrives with some friends (1 Lich, 1 Necromancer) to stop you. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Dagoot (1 Necromancer + 1 Lich) VP: 1290-1310 Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 900 Location: Arawn's Fifth Shrine Gold: 400 Special Abilities: Wind Magic (Lv 1) Wind Magic (Lv 3), Attack Magic (Lv 2), 2 Turns Special Attack: None Strategy: I recommend that you first destroy the Necromancer and Lich before you go after Dagoot. Both the Necromancer and Lich have powerful spells, so unleash your most powerful magic and attacks on them so that they can't help Dagoot. Once you have done this, you can now focus on Dagoot. An easy strategy is that once you have defeated the Necromancer and Lich, is to defend will all of your character but Annie, who should cast Heal Rain to keep your up your VP. Eventually Dagoot will run out of MP for his spells. Then, use some different Jewels to boost your attack stats or cast the Attack Magic Spell. Then attack with all of your characters except Tont, who should cast Undhine Magic Spells. If you need to, have Annie cast Heal Rain off and on during the battle. Dagoot will be no problem for you if you use this strategy. (Note: The stats listed above are for Dagoot only, they are not combined with the EXP and GP for the Lich and Necromancer) ________________________________________________________________________________ Once you have defeated Dagoot and his crew, walk up onto the platform and go north to where the Final Tablet is located. Then perform a "search" to add it to your inventory. While you are up here, if you walk to the eastern edge of the platform you will see a treasure chest on the east side of the screen. To reach this treasure, walk south off of the raised platform, and then walk northwest along the edge of the platform. Now line up your character so that you are standing inline with the torch to your east. Then walk west through the wall and into a secret passageway. Follow the passageway as it goes north, east, and then south. As you near the room with the treasure chest, position your character so that he is one space below the level of the treasure chest. Then walk west and open the treasure for the Seraphic Ring! Now walk back out of the secret passage and climb all the way back up the top of the shrine. Then exit the shrine and fly to Marion Town. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.45 Dragon Shrine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Source of Life Special: Steiner Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Bat, Green Slime, Killer Bee, Killer Frog, Kobold, Slime, Small Bat, Tumble Rabbit (Same as by around Marion Town) Get into your Flying Palace, and then fly northeast from Marion Town. You will quickly see a small shrine that is surrounded by high mountains. Land your Flying Palace in this valley and walk into the shrine Walk north and talk to the guardians of the Dragon Shrine. Then walk down the stairs. Follow either the southwest or southeast path until you reach the room in the middle of the floor. Walk north up the steps and you will see Steiner! Apparently, when he woke up, he found himself in the Dragon Shrine being cared for by its' guardians. Steiner says that he is better and that he will meet you at Isla Village. But before you leave, search the northwest torch for a Source of Life. Exit the Dragon Shrine and fly to Bandore. (Let Steiner rest at Isla Village for a while, he needs it!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.46 Zeal Village -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Evil Armor, Silence Orb, Source of Magic, Monster Bait, Drain Rod Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Clay Golem, Dark Bishop, Ekidona, Evil Summoner, Fire Giant, Hell Hound, Hippogriff, Lich, Manticore Elder, Minataur Lord, Mirage Dragon, Necromancer, Ogre, Raise, Vampire Worm, Young Dragon The guardians at the Dragon Shrine mentioned that you should go to the village of Quamdar. But to reach Quamdar, you will have first to the village of Zeal, and then through the Sand Caves. From outside of Bandore, get into the Flying Palace and fly southeast over a mountain range, which will place you near the northern edge of a large desert. Land the Flying Palace near the northern end of the desert and enter the village of Zeal. Just like always, here is a list of all the items you can find in Zeal. First, walk west all the way to the northwest part of town. Then search the northern barrel of two on the west side of the weapon shop and its adjacent building to find the Evil Armor. Then walk to the northeast part of town and enter the building there, which happens to be the Inn. Walk up the stairs to the second floor and search under the table there to find the Silence Orb. Then exit the Inn and walk to its eastern wall, and search the northern barrel of the two to find a Source of Magic. Now walk south to the lower part of town and enter the Tavern. Search under middle table that has two patrons sitting at either end to find a Monster Bait. Then go outside the Tavern, walk west to its west wall, and then search the middle barrel to find the Drain Rod. Once you are finished picking up all the goodies, go the weapon shop and buy some new and fancy equipment! You may also want to consider fighting some of the monsters around Zeal to boost your characters up to level 10. You now have two choices to make. The first is to continue on with the necessary part of the game, which would be going through the Sand Caves to reach Quamdar. However, choice number two is an optional quest, which I highly recommend completing. Below are the steps that will help you complete the optional quest. This quest will help to equip your characters with some top-notch equipment that will surely help you later on in the game, and its fun too! (If you are not interested in doing this, skip over this section and skip to the section that talks about the Sand Caves) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.47 Ice Cave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Gimry's Axe, Dagger, Helium Ring, Flint Stone, Storm Bandanna, Battle Scarf, Mithril Silver Special: None Enemies Encountered: Dead Armor, Ekidona, Hippogriff, Ice Dragon, Ice Giant, Lich, Manticore Elder, Snow Bear, Snow Wolf If you remember earlier, there was a smith who said that he would make you powerful weapons if you found Mithril for him, which is hidden in the Ice Cave. To find the Ice Cave, first fly to Mistrall in the Flying Palace, and then fly a little southeast to a small valley. Land the Flying Palace on the grassland terrain in the center and enter the cave. * Floor 1 * Walk southwest to the icicles and follow the path going southwest. Then walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 1 * Walk east to the fork and then follow the path going north. At the end of the path, open the treasure chest for Grimy's Axe. Then walk south back to the fork and follow the path leading west. This path will curve clockwise, leading your group to a large frozen pond. Follow the path around the lake until you are at the ponds southern tip. (Every time you step onto ice from dry land your are continuing to walk on the ice, your character will slide an extra step. continue on the ice, each step will slide you three steps. The directions I give on how move across the ice will be described in the following example. If I wrote, "one step north [2]" means that you should step north once, which will slide you 2 steps total. If I wrote two steps north [4], it would mean that you should walk north one step, sliding two steps, and then take another step north, sliding two steps, which would add up to 2 steps north sliding a total of four steps) So, step onto the farthest southern tip of ice and you will slide forward two spaces. Now take one step north [2], one step west [2], two steps north [4], one step east [2], and then walk down the stairs. * B-Floor 2 * Follow the path to the frozen pond. Then step onto the pond, slide north, and fall into anyone of the holes. * B-Floor 3 * Walk south to the end of the path and open the treasure chest for a Dagger. Then walk north and go up the stairs to the previous floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk one step south, which is still on dry land. Then slide west all the way across the frozen pond to dry land. Walk south and open the treasure chest for a Helium Ring. Now walk north and position your group so that you are standing one step west of the ice that is surrounding the treasure chest. (If the previous directions confused you, the same location can be reached from standing on the piece of land immediately above the treasure chest, walking two steps north, and then one step east) Now that you are positioned properly, step east onto the ice, which will cause your character to slide east and extra step. Then walk two steps east [4], one step south [2], one step east [2], and then one step north [2]. Now take one step east [2], one step north [2], and then slide east to dry land. Now walk south and climb down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Walk south down the path and climb down the stairs. * B-Floor 4 * Walk right climb up the steps and walk south to the end of the platform. Then slide down the ice ramp on the west side of the platform, which will slide you west all the way across the ice. Then walk west along dry land and climb some steps, which will put you on another platform. Now walk to the northern end of the platform and slide down the top ramp. Once you stop sliding, you will be in the northwest corner of the floor. Walk south to the southern most ramp on the platform. Then slide the ramp, which will bring you another platform on the eastern side of the floor. Walk north to the northern end of the platform and then slide down the northern ramp, which will bring your group to the treasure chest in the center of the room. Open the treasure chest to find the Flint stone, and then slide back down the ramp, which will bring you back to the ramps to the east. Walk south and slide down the ramp at the southern end of the platform, which will bring you back to the ramps in the northwest corner of the floor. Now slide down the middle ramp on the platform, which will bring you to the northeast corner of the floor. Then immediately walk back west onto the ice and keep on sliding west across the ice until you are two spaces east of the middle ramp. Then walk one step south [2], west one step [2], and then open the treasure chest for a Storm Bandanna. Now, walk southeast and fall down into the hole, which will drop you down a floor. * B-Floor 5 * Follow the path counter-clockwise until you reach two ramps. Slide down the north ramp and you will be brought to the east side of the floor. Walk north and open the treasure chest for a Battle Scarf. Then walk south and slide back down the ramp, which will bring you back to the west side of the floor. Now slide down the south ramp, walk northwest, and climb up the stairs. * B-Floor 4 * Slide south across the ice, walk west, and then climb up the steps onto the platform. Slide down the northern ramp, which will bring you back to the northwest corner of this floor. Walk south and slide down the middle ramp. Finally, walk northeast and climb down the stairs. * B-Floor 5 * Walk east and at the fork follow the north path, which will then also fork. Follow the path going east and climb up the steps onto the platform. Now slide down the ramp, which will bring you to another platform. Then climb down the steps and go down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 6 * Walk west up the steps and follow the path counter-clockwise to another set of steps. Climb down these steps, walk east and follow the path into a small room. Stand facing the pot of oil in the center of the room and use the Flint Stone via your item list. This will then cause the ice door in the northern part of this room to melt. Walk north and open the treasure chest for the Mithril Silver. Then either cast escape or use a guiding branch to exit the cave. Now use the Flying Palace to go back to Mistrall Village. Walk to the Smith's house, which is in the northwest part of town. Talk to the smith and he will take the Mithril from you and tell you to "come back later," which will give him time to work on the metal. All you need to do now is go outside, have a battle, rest at the Inn, and then go back to the Smithy. Once you are back inside, talk to the smith and he will offer you a Mithril Dagger for 4,760 G, which is 1,300 G cheaper then store price. Regardless of whether you accept his offer, he will send some metal to the other smiths who work in the regular Weapon/Armor store just east of the Smithy. This means that there will be a bunch of new weapons and armor at the shop for you to purchase! Buy whatever equipment you need, and then stock up on some items (Mage's Jewel, Reviving Herbs, etc), because you are now going to go on a long journey through the Sand Cave. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.48 Sand Cave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Mystic Dagger, Healing Jewel, Source of Vitality, Shadow Gi, Demon Axe, Thunder Vase Special: None Enemies Encountered: Bat (Sand Cave), Black Knight, Dead Armor, Demon, Demon Bat, Demon's Pet, Greater Demon, Lich, Manticore Elder, Red Dragon, Undead Knight, Undead Lector, Young Dragon From outside of Zeal, either walk or fly to the southern end of the desert, and then enter the cave. This cave is very tricky, because as you climb higher, there will be many holes that will drop you down a floor. I will describe the location of these holes in this walkthrough the best I can. It also helps if you pay attention to the floor you are currently on, because it will show the locations of the holes above you (not that this actual helps). * Floor 1 * Follow the path until you reach a fork, which has one path leading north, and the other south. Walk along the path going north, and continue to follow it as it turns west and then south. You will eventually reach the stairs, which you should climb up to reach the next floor. * Floor 2 * Walk south to the wall, walk 4 steps east, 1 step south, and then 1 step east. Now walk 3 steps south, 1 step east, and then south 3 steps. (All this fancy footwork helps to avoid the 4 holes in this area that will drop you down a floor). Now walk southwest and follow the path until you reach the stairs, which will bring you to the next floor. * Floor 3 * Walk south and open the treasure chest for a Mystic Dagger. Then walk back north and go down the stairs. * Floor 2 * Walk back along the path and if you want, you can retrace your steps. Otherwise, just fall down one of the holes that you just past, and then walk northwest and climb up the stairs. From the stairs that you used to climb up from the first floor, walk east past the lake, and follow the path as it turns north. Walk west past the small path leading south, and once you have done this, follow the wall to your south until you reach a treasure chest. (By following along the wall, I mean that you should walk adjacent to the wall, not away from it) Once you have opened the treasure chest for a Healing Jewel, walk adjacent to the wall to your west, and follow it north to the stairs. (If you step too far away from the wall, you will be in danger of falling into a hole) * Floor 3 * Walk south and you will soon reach a narrow path leading south. Walk slowly through the path and stop IMMEDIATELY once the path widens. Now walk west to the lake, south, and then follow the path southeast. At the end of the path you will find a treasure chest that contains a Source of Vitality. Once you have opened the treasure, walk north to the wall, and walk along adjacent to the wall. Keep on walking clockwise along the wall until you come back to the treasure chest that you just opened, but you are now on the other side of the barrier. Follow the path leading east, which will then fork into one path going south, and the other north. Follow the path going north until you run into the stone heads that pop up out of the ground. Then walk east and follow the path south until you reach the area around the lake where the path splits. Follow the path that beings going east and then goes south. This path will then fork into one path leading south and the other west. Follow the path west until you reach the stairs, which will bring you to the next floor. * Floor 4 * Walk south along the path until you are past the lake. Walk east past the lake and follow the path that is southeast of the lake. You will soon run into some more of the stone heads that pop up out of the ground. These stone heads may appear to block your way, but there is room to the south for you to walk by them. Continue to follow the path and it will open up into a big room with two paths leading out. Follow the path going northwest and you will eventually come top another fork. Keep on following the path going north until you run into some more of the stone heads that pop up out of the ground. Just like before, they leave room to the west for you to walk by them. However, there is one hole that you still have to avoid. To get around, walk adjacent to the western wall until you reach the stairs. * Floor 5 * Walk south to the rock, east to the wall, and then south to the wall. Now walk 3 steps east, 5 steps south, and then a step west to the wall. Then walk south along the wall until you are just passed the rocks standing out of the ground to the west. Then walk west along the path, past all the rock heads that pop up out of the ground until you reach the treasure chest. Open the treasure for the Shadow Gi, and then walk back along the path. Now position your character so that he is lined up directly below the southernmost rocks standing up out of the ground and the rock heads that popped up. Then walk directly east passed the lake to the south and the one to the north, until you reach a wall. Then take one step north, walk east to the wall, and then walk until you reach the boundary of a lake. Now walk 1 step west, 2 steps north, and then walk northwest to the stairs. * Floor 6 * Walk south until you reach the lake. If you look to the south, you will see that the path narrows to a two space wide path, with the lake bordering the west side of the path and the wall the other. Walk along the WALL side of the path, and continue south until the tip of a wall to your south. Then walk west past the lake until you are at the western end of the lake. Follow the path leading north, and at its end, you will find a treasure chest. Open the treasure for the Demon's Axe, and then follow your path back to the lake. Walk to the southern end of the lake and follow the narrow path leading south. Open the treasure chest for a Thunder Vase. Then walk north back up to the southern end of the lake. Then walk southeast along the path that is roughly east of the one that you just followed. Keep on following the path as it twists and turns until you hear a voice talking to you... it's the Black Knight! ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Black Knight VP: Item Dropped: ??? Exp: Location: Sand Cave Gold: Special Abilities: Fire Magic (Lv 3), Thunder Magic (Lv 2) Special Attack: None Strategy: Hopefully you have figured out the mystery of the Black Knight, who is PERCY! He is under Ramue's control and is constantly trying to escape. The Black Knight is easy to defeat, all you have to do is use your most powerful spells and attacks, but why would you want to kill a friend. If wait and don't attack the Black Knight, after 10-15 rounds he will break free of his mask and join your group! It does help to cast defense spells like Illusion, Confusion, Defense, etc., so that your characters don't take too much damage. Keep on defending and eventually Percy run away will break free of Ramue's control spell. I recommend that you choose to place the sixth character at the Mountain Cottage. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Once the Black Knight is dead, or you have helped the Black Knight break free of his spell, follow the path and exit the cave. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.49 Quamdar Village -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Gundalf Hood, Monster Bait Special: None Enemies Encountered: None Overworld - Demon, Demon's Pet, Devil Insect, Great Demon, Metal Golem, Necromancer, Red Dragon, Undead Knight, Undead Lector Once you are out of the cave, walk west and position yourself so that you are standing on the desert and in between the two rivers to the west. Then walk south and enter the village of Quamdar. The first thing you will probably need to do is visit the Inn. After that, you are free to find the couple goodies that are hidden here. First, walk into the house northeast of the Church. Search the barrel in the southeast corner of the house to find a Gundalf Hood. Then exit the house, walk northwest and go into the house located in the northern part of town. Search under the table for a Monster Bait. If you talk to the people in town, you will notice that they have a very favorable view of Shutat, isn't that interesting... Well, once you have found the items in town, walk into the Weapon/Armor and Item shop that is northwest of the Inn. Buy whatever upgrades you can, most likely a lot of them, and then save your game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.50 Dragon Cave (II) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Skeleton Key, Dragon Blade, Reviving Herb, Tornado Vase, Mystic Gi Special: None Enemies Encountered: Now, before you go head long into the Abyss, I think it might be a good idea to tie up some loose ends and stock up with some necessary items. First, use the Light Orb to reach some other town. Then you can either use the Flying Palace or the Light Orb to reach the Mountain Cottage. (The Mountain Cottage is where you stopped following your completion of the cave after the Border Church) Once you have done this, walk north and into the northern cave. (The Dragon Cave) Walk along the path until it forks, and at this point, follow the path east and go through the door. Walk east to where the Dragon used to sleep and you will notice that he is gone, but that something was left behind on the ground. Search the object to find the Skeleton Key, which can be used to open all of the previously locked treasure chests. 1) Dragon Cave - Now walk northeast from the where you found the Skeleton Key and go through the door. Walk east to the where the path forks and follow the northeast path to the stairs. Once you have climbed the stairs, follow the path until you reach the bridge, and then go north through the hole. Walk north and go into Sir Norton's house. Walk up to the treasure chest and stand facing it. Then go into your Item List and use the Skeleton Key, which will then open the treasure. Inside of the treasure chest you will find a might weapon, the Dragon Blade. Then cast Escape or use a Guiding Branch. 2) Simone Village - Enter Simone and walk north through the village to the Mystic Tree. Once you are inside, walk north and climb down the stairs. Then walk clockwise along the path and go down another set of stairs. Follow the path around the outside of the room and go down yet another set of stairs. Follow the path, and at the door, go into your Item List and use the Skeleton Key. Now walk inside the room and open the treasure chest for a Tornado Vase. Then walk all the way back out of the tree and exit Simone. 3) Bandore Town - Walk into the town and enter the Inn. Walk north and climb up the stairs to the second floor. Walk southwest and enter the small room. Unlock the treasure chest with the Skeleton Key to find a Mystic Gi. Then walk back down the stairs and exit the Inn. 4) Bandore Castle - Walk north and go into Bandore Castle. Once you are inside, walk down one of the staircases that lead to the dungeon. Now walk south to the last row of cells and use the Skeleton Key on the cell that has the treasure inside. Then walk into the jail cell and open the treasure chest to find a Reviving Herb. All right, now that you have found all of these goodies, it is time for you to spend some cash. Use the Flying Palace or Light Orb to get to Barbaros Castle. Then walk into the castle and talk to the Hidden Merchant. (If you still don't know where the Hidden Merchant is, refer back to Barbaros Castle (II) or refer to section IX in my walkthrough, Tips and Hints) I would then recommend buying some Reviving Herbs and Angel's Ocarina. You should also make sure that you have used Resist Jewels on all of your characters by now, which permanently reduces magic damage you will receive by half! I would also pick up some Mage's Potions in one of the other towns. Once you are stocked up, use the Light Orb to reposition your characters so that one is at Quamdar Village. Then use the Light Orb to go back to Quamdar, where you should save your game at the Church. *** LEVEL CHECK *** I recommend that you gain, if you haven't already, 40 cumulative levels. For example, you could have gained twenty levels during the time you were your first class and then twenty more levels post class change at Discipline Island. This ration can be 30 then 10, or whatever you like, but you should have gained 40 levels all together. This will hopefully prevent you from getting destroyed during your journey in The Abyss. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.51 The Abyss -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items Found: Poisoned Fang, Seraphic Cane, Mystic Shield, Malicious Rod, Hero Scale, Demon's Fist, Ring of Death Special: None Enemies Encountered: Barrog, Devil Insect, Greater Demon, Hydra Warrior, Metal Golem, Necromancer, Red Dragon, Royal Guard, Shadow Dragon, Undead Knight, Undead Lector Before I start giving you directions on where to go, I think it is important for you to know some information about the Abyss. First, it is very likely that you will need to go back to Quamdar and re-supply your group after certain points in this journey. Secondly, you will need to know about the Orb of Light and the Orb of Dark in this dungeon. Later on in the Abyss you will be able to pick up the one of the two different orbs at a time. As you walk along on the first floor, there will be two different types of statues, death and angel statues. Your goal is to carry each orb to the bottom of the Abyss and put it back onto its respective statue. If you pick up the light orb, you will be able to pass by the angel statues, but the death statues will emit an aura preventing you from passing close by them. If you pick up the dark orb, you will be able to pass by the death statues, but the angel statues will emit an aura preventing you from passing close by them * Floor 1 * Walk north past the guardians of the Abyss until you enter into a sequence with Yeon...! I thought he was supposed to be dead? Apparently Yeon, along with Lord Kevins, survived their fall into the Volcano. Unfortunately, Sir Kevins is now being tortured in the Underworld, which forces your characters to challenge Yeon to a fight! ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Yeon (1 Royal Guard + 1 Hydra Warrior) VP: 1095-1115 Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 1100 Location: Abyss (1st floor) Gold: 600 Special Abilities: Thunder Magic (Lv 1) Thunder Magic (Lv 2), Heal Rain Magic (Lv 2), Confusion Magic (lv 2), 2 Turns Special Attack: None Strategy: I recommend that you first destroy the Hydra Warrior since it has 2 turns, and then the Royal Guard. Once you have done this, you can focus on defeating Yeon. An easy strategy for you to follow is to defend with all of your characters until most of Yeon's MP is used up, and then attack. You can also cast Silence on Yeon, which would neutralize his magic spells. Then have your characters cast Attack Magic (Lv 2) to temporarily boost the attack power of your characters. Then you can crush Yeon with your powerful attacks, which will now deal him massive damage. Tont's summon spells, along with some of your other characters powerful magic work well against Yeon. However, be careful because as you come closer to defeating Yeon, he may use Confuse Magic (Lv 2), which can be very devastating. As you can tell, Yeon does not have much VP so you should win this battle fairly easily. (Note: The stats listed above are for Yeon only, they are not combined with either the EXP or GP for the Royal Guard and Hydra Warrior) ________________________________________________________________________________ After defeating Yeon, search the "death" statue to the northeast to find the Poisoned Fang weapon. Then walk north and use the Final Tablet in your item list, which will then fit into the groove in the floor in front of you, opening up the door to the Abyss. (At this point, I recommend going back to Quamdar and re-supplying your characters) Once you are ready, walk north from where you defeated Yeon and walk through the door. Then continue walking north and climb down the steps to the next floor. ------------ Orb of Light ------------ The following directions will help you successfully bring the Orb of Light to its respective statue on the bottom floor of the Abyss. Following these instructions will be another section that gives detailed steps on how to bring the Orb of Darkness to the bottom floor of the Abyss. At the end of that section there will be a separate guide on what to do after you have brought both orbs back to their respective statues. * B-Floor 1 * Walk down the steps and go east to the main corridor. Walk north, climb up the steps and go through the door. Walk east around the 3D circular room and go through the door. Walk north and position your character so that he is facing the angel statue to his north. Then perform the search command and you will pick up the Orb of Light. You will immediately notice the death statue to your right emitting an aura, which will prevent you from walking too close. Walk south and go back through the door. Walk west around the 3D circular room and go back through the door. Now walk south back through the main corridor, and then walk west. Now climb down the left staircase, which will lead your group down to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk down the steps and go east to the main hallway, which will then fork into a path going north and the other south. Walk south and search the angel statue, which is the left statue of the two statues you will encounter to find the Seraphic Cane. Then work your way south between the death statues until you reach the end of the main corridor. Then walk west and climb down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Climb south down the steps and walk east to the adjacent pair of steps. Climb up these steps and go down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 4 * Walk down the steps and go west to the main corridor. Then walk north along this path until it forks. Instead of following any of the paths leading north, walk east until you see a treasure. Open the treasure chest to find the Malicious Rod. You now need to backtrack back to the stairs that will bring your group back to the previous floor. (West to the main corridor, south, east to the steps, and then up the stairs) * B-Floor 3 * Climb down the steps to your south and walk west. Follow the path leading north until it brings you to a large room. Now walk northeast and go through the door. Now walk west around the 3D circular room and go through the door. Walk northwest and follow the narrow path north, which will once again bring your group to a large room. Walk northeast past the angel statues until you see the stairs, but DO NOT go down them yet. Position your character so that he is standing on the platform just below the stairs. Then walk south past the first angel statue on your right and stop once you are between a pair of angel statues. Now search the angel statue to your west to find the Mystic Shield. Then walk back south past all the angel statues and go south down either of the two narrow paths. Then walk east until you reach the last narrow path leading north. Walk north and continue walking northeast past the death statues. Then walk northwest, climb up the steps, and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 4 * Walk south down the steps and then at the fork walk south down the narrow path. Then walk west, climb up the steps and go down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 5 * Walk south past the angel statues and go through the door. Walk east around the 3D room and go through the door. Climb down the steps, and at the fork, follow the path leading west. Continue walking west until you reach the last path leading south. Walk south down this path past all the statues until you reach the south end of the floor. Then walk east past the first path going north, and then walk north up the next path going north. Continue walking north, climb up the steps, and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 6 * Climb down the steps, walk west, and follow the path north until you reach the angel statue. Stand so that you are facing the angel statue to your north. Then go into your item list and "Use" the Orb of Light, which will then be placed in the angel statue's hands. Now that you have finished carrying the Orb of Light, you now have to go all the way back up and get the Orb of Darkness. At this point, I HIGHLY recommend casting the Escape spell, which is much easier than walking back up all of the floors. I also think it would be a good idea to walk south out of the Abyss and re-supply your characters back at town. --------------- Orb of Darkness --------------- The following directions will help you successfully bring the Orb of Darkness to its respective statue on the bottom floor of the Abyss. At the end of this section there will be a separate guide on what to do after you have brought both orbs back to their respective statues. * Floor 1 * Once you are ready, walk north from where you defeated Yeon and walk through the door. Then continue walking north and climb down the steps to the next floor. * B-Floor 2 * Walk down the steps and go east to the main corridor. Walk north, climb up the steps and go through the door. Walk east around the 3D circular room and go through the door. Walk north and position your character so that he is facing the death statue to his north. Then perform the search command and you will pick up the Orb of Darkness. You will immediately notice the angel statue to your left emitting an aura, which will prevent you from walking too close. Walk south and go back through the door. Walk west around the 3D circular room and go back through the door. Now walk south back through the main corridor, and then walk west. Now climb down the left staircase, which will lead your group down to the next floor. * B-Floor 3 * Walk down the steps and go east to the main hallway, which will then fork into a path going north and the other south. Walk north working your way north between the different statues, climb up the steps, and go through the door. Walk west around the 3D circular room and go through the door. Now walk north and continue walking north past the death statues until you reach the end of the path. Open the treasure chest for the Hero's Scale, and then walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 4 * Climb down the steps to your south and walk southwest past the angel statues until you reach the bottom row of angel statues. Now walk east below the angel statues until you reach the death statues. Then walk north, climb up the steps, and then walk down the stairs to the next floor. * B-Floor 5 * Climb down the steps and walk west until you reach another set of steps. Then walk north and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 6 * Walk south past the death statues until the path forks. Follow either path leading south and then walk east past the angel statues. Then walk north up either path until you reach a treasure. Open the treasure chest to find the Demon's Fist, and then walk all the way back south past the death statues. Then walk southwest and go through the door. Walk east around the 3D circular room and go through the door. Climb down the steps and walk south to the fork. Follow the path going west, and then take the first path going south. Then search the first death statue you find for the Ring of Death. Now walk back north and follow the path east to the last path going south. Then follow this path south past all of the death statues. Then walk west past the first path going north, and then walk north up the next path going north. Then walk north and go down the stairs. * B-Floor 7 * Climb down the steps, walk east, and follow the path north until you reach the death statue. Stand so that you are facing the angel death to your north. Then go into your item list and "Use" the Orb of Darkness, which will then be placed in the death statue's hands. Once you do this, the door to the north of the statues will be open! Walk north and go through the door. ---------------- The Final Battle ---------------- Walk north along the path, and just as you reach the bottom of the steps, Ramue will start talking to you. After she is done talking, Shutat will begin to talk about the suffering of everyone who dwells in the Underworld, and how he has sworn to take vengeance on Arawn. He will then ask you to join him and rule the world together. You should obviously choose "No" to his question, and once you do, you will hear Lord Kevins voice telling you that Shutat has been taken over by the Vicious Ones. Shutat will then get extremely upset and attack you with his ally Ramue. (If you choose "Yes", to the previous question ??? ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Ramue VP: 1200 Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 2500 Location: Abyss (B-Floor 7) Gold: 0 Special Abilities: Undhine Magic (Lv 1), 2 Turns Special Attack: None -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy: I recommend that you first destroy Ramue, who happens to be weaker than Shutat. If you want, you can use your most powerful magic on either of them because neither Ramue nor Shutat are particularly strong against magic of any type. When I fought this battle, I had Edward cast Attack Magic (Lv 2), and then just had my characters attack Ramue until she was dead. I then just used the same method above to kill Shutat. When using any strategy, you should use Heal Rain Magic as needed to recover the HP of your characters. Luckily for your, Ramue's and Shutat's magic attacks should not deal you too much damage since you used the Resist Jewel earlier, which decreases magic damage by half. Towards the end of the battle, I recommend using some Mage's Jewels or Mage's Potions to restore some of your MP before...the next battle? (Note: The EXP and GP listed above are for both Shutat and Ramue added together) ________________________________________________________________________________ Once Ramue and Shutat are defeated you will return to the main screen. Shutat will then have go into convulsions as the evil spirit flies out of his body. Shutat's lasts words will then be to confess his the evil his has done and to warn you of... Akkadias!!! Now here comes the real challenge. ________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Akkadias VP: 3990-4020 Item Dropped: ??? Exp: 0 Location: Abyss (Final Battle) Gold: 0 Special Abilities: Soul Blast Magic (Lv 1) (all), Silence Magic (Lv 2), Summon Magic (Lv 4), Summon Magic (Lv 2), Heal Rain Magic (Lv 3), 2 Turns Special Attack: ??? Strategy: Just like Ramue and Shutat, Akkadias is not strong against magic or physical attacks. The only real weapon he has is his Soul Blast Magic, which deals about 25 VP of damage to your characters (normally). If you used the Resist Jewel on your characters, Soul Blast should only deal you about 12 VP of damage per character. Luckily for you, or maybe not, Akkadias rarely uses physical attacks during his normal turn. He does have a fairly powerful physical attack though, judging from his occasional attack. The strategy I recommend following is similar to the one I mentioned for Ramue and Shutat. Have Edward cast Attack Magic (Lv 2) and attack with all of your characters while occasionally casting Heal Magic when necessary. However, I DO NOT recommend using magic attacks, since Akkadias is rather weak against physical attacks. I think that your MP are better spent casting Heal or assist magic like Attack Magic, Defense Magic, etc.) Towards the end of the battle, Akkadias will stop using Soul Blast and begin to vary his attacks more. Just hang in there and keep on pounding Akkadias until he is dead. ________________________________________________________________________________ Once the battle is over, you will hear Arawn tell Finn to throw the Light Orb at Akkadias, which then destroys him. All of your characters then appear on the screen and say a couple of lines before getting ready to leave. Then just as everyone is departing, the building starts to collapse. Finn then falls along with the remains of the building, but Steiner comes to the rescues and catches him. Everyone then appears back at the Arawn's Tower, who says that Simone Village is going to place a guard, the old dragon who you saw throughout the game, at Quamdar to prevent any further mischief. Amazingly, Finn wants to continue the search for Lord Kevins in the underworld, which sets the scene for a sequel. Arawn will then send all of the characters back to their homes. The scene then switches to Finn, Annie and the rest of her family. Just before Finn leaves with Steiner, Annie hands him her piece of the Light Orb. (You would think that she would have at least also given him a Kiss!!!) The credits will then begin to roll as Steiner and Finn fly over their friend's houses to say goodbye. They fly over to the Abyss and enter the Underworld. ***************** ***************** ** ------- ** ** THE END ** ** ------- ** ***************** ***************** The rest to be complete by the end of April... **** I am almost done with all of the sections and currently have over 80 pages of extra info (weapons, armor, spells, tips, monster charts, and all sorts of other stuff) Don't worry, I will soon be done!!!
