This Faq is a strategy tempering helper for people to read about things and formulas I've done in the legend of mana tempering to work. It's not really a FAQ it's just a simple "hay look here for a cool tempering formula" Faq. It in no way gives any info on quest etc. This file doesn't explain tempering in detail. It's purpose is to explain how to reaching high level essences, temper status protections, use a save game tempering cheat and a few other tidbits. Section 2 2.1) Tempering Techniques. Tempering techniques are best categorized in three areas. 1) Basic - Straight forward approach, this person just tempers in items with no discernible pattern often resulting in a lot of waste and a trashed items. 2) Intermediate - This method a person will use a common formula that has worked well in the past. Examples include: the Kelson Modified Kelson or Syth formulas. These formulas use complex but selective tempering of chaos crystals, glow crystals, even sulpher and mercury sometimes. 3) Advanced - this is the hardcore of formulas. Examples of these resemble those in this Faq. These formulas take long hard hours to produce and test. They have specific orders and use both basic and advanced techniques to create along with a new complex "trash an essence so another essence may increase". This doesn't include the extremely high cost and ridiculous cost of materials needed to temper just one item. Thankfully there is a cheat mentioned later on in this Faq (Section 4.1). This is why tempering above level 7 and 8 is so complex. It's something that comes in levels. each stage becomes more complex. They cost more chaos crystals, glow crystals, sulpher, mercury, gold and silver each upgrade. Each essence level up on a primary essence comes at the cost of a secondary essence. To reach the next level you'll need to increase the essence it drains even more! 2.2) Tempering Notes Note 1 :When tempering with mercury and sulphur you must understand the fallowing before you design a tempering method. Mercury works only for Shade, Undine, Jinn and Aura where as sulphur only works for Wisp, Salamander, Gnome, and Dryad. Wisp and Shade Don't work well with mercury and Sulpher for some reason. Don't get to caught up in this it may ruin your formulas. It's very important to note this before even considering tempering materials. Note 2: Essences that effect other essences. I've found that shade and wisp effect dryad and aura. Knowing this I tested the effects of having lower essences of dryad and aura when I was raising essences to level 10. I came out with a shocking secret. The top row of essences has a great effect on the bottom row. If an essence like wisp is level 6 your dryad will not reach level 10. If your dryad and aura aren't as high as they can be the bottom row maxes out faster as far as I can tell. Note 3: Essences, "Yin Yang" balancing issues. It's important to know this when tempering failing to follow the rules of essences can result is a corrupted trashed tempered item. Here's the story wisp and shade have a massive effect on dryad and aura it doesn't say this in the anywhere in the manual. I've proven this time and time again with wisp and shade essences unbalanced. What happens is that when shade is higher than wisp on the top row dryad will have a problem at times causing it to never lock or slowly lose power. The same thing will happen to aura if wisp is a higher level than shade. As a result of this testing I've come to this conclusion. Wisp is light, life and over world. Shade is darkness, Spirit and under world. If wisp is stronger than shade then spirit will slowly dissipate. If shade is stronger than wisp life will slowly dissipate. Based on this it's best to temper items with the key knowledge of balance. Failing to balance wisp and shade will make it impossible to lock one at least essence costing you 1-10 points in the formulas! An unlocked essence will return to 0 level faster than you can temper in 3 glow crystals. 2.3) Getting an Essence to level 7&8 By now everyone knows how to get an essence to level 7. There are better ways to temper but, doirwood won't get salamander to level 8 as far as I can tell. This technique isn't optimized choose your best formula to reach level 7. For The primary essence here is a good formula to get the basic essence to level 7. There are some rare materials that have high resistance that lower this severely. Your best bet is to follow the resistence table in this Faq (Section 3.6 and 3.7). 2 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 1 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 3 Sulpher or mercury (See Note 1) 1 Silver Coin 1 Gold Coin Stop Here if you just want to reach level 7 continue if you want to reach level 8. 2.4) Getting Essence to Level 8 Continued Level 5 is required for the opposing element to achieve level 8. This works most of the time. 1 Chaos Crystal 2 Silver Coins 2 Mercury or Sulphur (depends see note 1) 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Silver Coin First the primary essence is level 7 and the secondary essence is level 5 use the below method to absorb secondary essence and raise the primary essence to level 8! This requires the essence it absorbs to be level 5 and the essence that is dominate over it to be level 0! This technique doesn't work well with The top row of elements. Example: if you want Gnome to be level 8. First you'll need a material that will allow it to reach level 8. Second you'll need Gnome to be level 7. Third you'll need Jinn to be level 5, and finally Salamander must be level 0 because it's dominate over gnome! For this example coins are gnome and Sulpher is used. 4 Mercury or Sulphur (depends see note 1) 1 Silver Coin 1 Gold Coin More On getting essences to level 8. BalbanesBeoulve Has stated that there is another way to reach level 8 essence without eating a gnome as posted on LOM message boards. he has stated you can raise salamander on dragonscales without eating a gnome. Perhaps this formula is possible with outer tempering schemes such as a modified version of this Faqs diorwood formula. 3 Glow Crystal 2 Sala Silver 4 Glow Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Sulphur !! NO GOLD COINS USED !! I ended up with an essence of 8. (I've looked at the resistence tables and noticed that salamander was 6 resistence. He's Right 7 resistence should be the same.) 2.5) Getting an Essence to Level 9 Raise the secondary essence to level 6 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal This next step only works if you've got the primary essence is level 8 and the secondary essence is level 6 use the below method to absorb secondary essence and raise the primary essence to level 9! This requires the essence it absorbs to be level 6 and the essence that is dominate over it to be level 0! This technique doesn't work well with The top row of elements. Example: if you want Gnome to be level 9. First you'll need a material that will allow it to reach level 9. Second you'll need Gnome to be level 8. Third you'll need Jinn to be level 6, and finally Salamander must be level 0 because it's dominate over gnome! For this example coins are gnome and Sulpher is used. 4 Mercury or Sulphur (depends see note 1) 1 Silver Coin 1 Gold Coin 2.6) Getting an Essence to Level 10 Level 7 is required for the opposing element to achieve level 10. 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher or mercury (See Note 1) 1 Gold Coin First the primary essence is level 9 and the secondary essence is level 7 use the below method to absorb secondary essence and raise the primary essence to level 10! This requires the essence it absorbs to be level 7 and the essence that is dominate over it to be level 0! This technique doesn't work well with The top row of elements. Example: if you want Gnome to be level 10. First you'll need a material that will allow it to reach level 10. Second you'll need Gnome to be level 9. Third you'll need Jinn to be level 7, and finally Salamander must be level 0 because it's dominate over gnome! For this example coins are gnome and Sulpher is used. 4 Mercury or Sulphur (depends see note 1) 1 Silver Coin 1 Gold Coin For other formulas you'll need to follow note 1, you'll also need to note that I've never been able to achieve above level 7 on wisp or shade. Doing so results in one essence being wiped completely. (See Note 3) 2.7 Getting Wisp or Shade to level 7+ This can cause you problems getting aura or dryad to stick I've proven this by massive testing. If wisp and shade aren't balanced there is a chance that one essence will drain forever. I found the if wisp is level higher than shade aura will take the drain likewise, if shade is higher dryad will take the drain EVEN on diorwood items. If you attempt to fix aura shade will take a hit and it'll still have the drain. If your interested I think this is the formula for getting wisp or shade to level 7. 3 Glow Crystal 2 Silver Coin 3 Glow Crystal 2 Sulpher 1 Silver Coin 1 Gold Coin 3.1) Tempering DiorWood This tempering creates the most powerful weapon using dior wood. A two handed axe created with this method exceeds 999 attack power however, the game limits weapon power to 999! This is an extremely expensive yet powerful method for tempering wood weapons and armor. This formula not only makes 999 attack power two-handed axe it also gives the weapon +9 statistic bonus across the board! This is for doir wood weapons and armor ONLY!. All other materials, Metals, Aerolites, and Scales require different tempering to reach 61 total points in essence levels. Please don't try this with other materials you will be disappointed. Look at the check points and save often print it out and mark out the lines as you go along. :) 1 Wisp Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Wisp Silver 3 Glow Crystal Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 0 6 0 0 0 0 0 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Shade Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Shade Silver 3 Glow Crystal Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 6 0 0 0 0 0 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Dryad Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 0 0 0 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Aura Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Aura Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Mercury 1 Aura Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 0 0 0 1 Undine Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Undine Silver 3 Glow Crystal 3 Mercury 1 Undine Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 0 0 7 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystals 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystal Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 5 0 0 7 4 Mercury 1 Undine Silver 1 Undine Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 2 0 0 8 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystals 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Sala Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 6 0 0 8 4 Mercury 1 Undine Silver 1 Undine Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 3 0 0 9 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystals 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Sala Gold 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Sala Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 7 0 0 9 4 Mercury 1 Undine Silver 1 Undine Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 4 0 0 10 1 Gnome Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Gnome Silver 3 Glow Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Gnome Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 7 0 10 1 Chaos Crystal 2 Jinn Silver 2 Mercury 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 7 5 10 4 Sulpher 1 Gnome Silver 1 Gnome Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 8 2 10 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 8 7 0 8 6 10 4 Sulpher 1 Gnome Silver 1 Gnome Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 9 7 0 8 3 10 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 9 7 0 8 6 10 4 Sulpher 1 Gnome Silver 1 Gnome Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 9 7 0 9 3 10 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Jinn Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Mercury 1 Jinn Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 9 7 0 9 7 10 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 1 Sala Silver 3 Glow Crystal 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Sala Gold 1 Chaos Crystal 3 Sulpher 1 Sala Gold Wisp Shad Drya Aura Sala Gnom Jinn Undi 6 6 9 7 7 9 7 10 61 points total essence Tempering! 3.2) DoirWood Master Pieces +---------------------------------------------------------------+ 2-Handed Axe 999 Attack Power +9 Stats across board (tested) +---------------------------------------------------------------+ 2 Pine O'clock 1 Silly Eye 4 Lillypods X Spiny Seeds 1 Bumpkin 2 Ash 1 Scissors "X" In this formula an unknown number until your item statistic bonuses reach +10 across the board. This next tempering method is for dragon Scale weapons and armor. It may be possible to use this on other materials like metals, aerolites, and fabric however, it hasn't been tested. Sadly with this method 1 point is lost in dryad. I also found out that attempting to temper undine and gnome to level 8 failed 100% of the time because of the material rejecting the essence. :( This version of the dragonscales formula has been altered from the original based on information gained off the GameFaqs message board member BalbanesBeoulve has stated that 2 areas in the old dragonscale tempering could be massively optimized allowing you to skip 4 full steps. Although I've not tested this I believe BalbanesBeoulve is trustworthy and wishes only to offer help to everyone out there. This new improved formula hasn't been tested by me so I left the old formula just in case your dragonscale tempering fails with these economy and time saving improvements. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well they are simply tables to represent how much a material resist an elemental essence. The higher the resistence the more difficult it is to temper on to an item. Some of the time this determine the materials maximum level essence that can be tempered. Keep resistence in mind when tempering items anything below 7 is low resistence, Resistance level 7 through 9 is normal resistence and anything 10 and above is high resistence. Note that the essences are abbreviated to fit the text better, only the first 4 letters are used. Note : these tables have are copies of the Ultimania scan by user GilbellyMog on the GameFaqs Message board. The information has been translated, for english readers. Well it represents how much power is required to raise an elemental essence to the next level. On the right side is the "resistence level". This is determined by the material resistence for a single essence using the tables located in this Faq under section (3.6). The top row represents the level of essence you wish to achieve. The crossing of these to areas show the power level points required to raise to the next level. Numbers surrounded by "(" and ")" indicate that it is impossible to reach the next level. Please don't ask questions about this part of the Faq I'm as lost as you on how the points are determined. +---------------------------------------------------------------+ | Total Points Needed to Raise Essence | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Essence| X | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | | 5 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | | 6 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | | 7 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 |16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)|(1536)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| | 8 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 |16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (786)|(1536)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| | 9 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 16 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 | 8 |16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (786)|(1536)| |Level |x2 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 24 | 48 | 96 | 192 | (384)| (768)| | 10 |x3 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 32 | 32 | 64 | 128 | 256 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Resist |x1 |24 |48 | 96 | 192 |(384)|(786)|(1536)|(3072)|(6144)| |Level |x2 |24 |48 | 96 | 192 | 288 |(576)|(1152)|(2304)|(4508)| | 32 |x3 |16 |24 | 48 | 96 | 192 |(384)| (786)|(1536)|(3072)| +---------------------------------------------------------------+ 3.8) Armor Status Protections Status Protections Pine O'Clock <-- Sleep Protection (N/A) Blackened Bat <-- Darkness Protection (N/A) Zombie Claw <-- Paralysis Protection (N/A) Sharp Claw <-- Freeze Protection (Salamander) Baked Roach <-- Poison Protection (N/A) Stinky Breath <-- Confusion Protection (N/A) Squalphin <-- Fireburn Protection (Undine) Ear of Wheat <-- Petrification Protection (NA) Stinky breath will need washed with a holywater or a GarlicCrown otherwise, you'll have a pixie to deal with. Save money, coin and materials when tempering. 2. Give Friends duplicates of your stuff without losing them. You need the following for this cheat to work --> 1. Two game saves under different names 2. Golem Workshop both saves(completed "quest") 3. Blacksmith Workshop both saves(Completed Watts Hammer "quest") 4. Junkyard placed on map in both saves. 5. One free save slot 2 blocks. (used for temporary save) I've been using a trick to make unlimited weapons using 2 game saves with different names. The first save is set in no future as "slot1" and the second is in normal mode "slot2". The difficulty levels don't really matter for this cheat. 1. Load player one game with all materials needed to make awesome weapons, armors, and instruments. (Materials only!) 2. Make an item as player one a using the temporary slot ONLY! After it's tempered pawn it and save at the junkyard in the temporary slot only. 3. Reset and load player two game from slot2. 4. Have player two buy the item from the temporary slot. 5. Have player two overwrite slot2 so that they own the items permeantly. 6. have player two go back and pawn the item again. 7. Overwrite the temporary slot. (This allows the player two to retain the item as well as have a temporary slot that contains item pawned on it. This will also allow player one to buy it back again.) 8. Reset and load original player one game from slot1. 9. Have player one buy the item back from the temporary slot. 10. Save the player one game in slot1. At this point player 1 retains all items used to create the item since they never really made it. The cool thing is player one and two retain the item as though they bought it from each other. The only real thing lost is a few thousand $$ but nothing compared to the $100K+ it takes to make one. 4.2) Questions and Answers for the Cheat Question: Processor Bomb won't let me trade items using the duplicate trick. Answer: You need to delete the original on the primary save before you can buy the duplicate from Processor Bomb. Here's Why he won't sell things to you. The item you pawned can't exist in the primary save as altered or unaltered form. You must create and temper items on the temporary save only so they won't exist on the primary save. This way they can't be traced back to the original item. Once a material is changed into an item it's information is lost. The game can't detect that you used the same piece of dragon scale or coins so long as you do it on a temporary save. You want to get back all the materials you used in this cheat don't you? if you get this error you made an unaltered item and saved on the primary save and then tempered it using the temporary save. Basically the original item still exist even though you altered it. Find it and trash or sell the duplicate item on the primary save. 5.1) Credit's and Special Thanks Credits and special thanks, without these people I wouldn't have known about mercury, Sulpher, glow crystals or chaos crystals.
