Introduction = ====================================================================== -----\ Foreword \----- Greetings! Here's our entry into what's becoming a crowded FAQ field for a great game. We hope you take a look and see what we have to offer instead of just dismissing us as another FAQ for Legend of Mana. Every area will have a full map here, as well as details lists on what's important. You won't find us typing out encyclopedias of text straight from the screen here. Instead you'll find stats that matter, and hopefully by the end, one of the most complete LoM sources anywhere on the net. This FAQ works differently from how a normal FAQ does so take a second to let me explain. There's two sections: a main walkthrough and a quest solution list. Basically the main walkthrough tells you a description of how you should go about your game, and where you can trigger quests and get items. Once you trigger a quest, you'll want to scroll down to the solution for that quest, where you'll find a comprehensive map, as well as everything you need to know to complete that quest. Since Legend of Mana is such a free-form game, one set way to go isn't really feasible. Every player will play the game in a different order. Feel free to do things in any order you wish from our walkthrough-- in fact we encourage it-- just simply use it as a rough guide to see if you missed anything. If you do anything differently from how we did it and get different results, or if you feel we missed something that should be covered, feel free to drop us an email with your thoughts and we'll dig into it and see what comes up, giving you your proper acknowledgement here in the FAQ. The only thing we do is ask, is you don't send information on things we haven't covered yet. We're not done with the walkthrough, but we're chugging along on it, so please no "Here's an easy way to kill the last boss" comments. Make sure it is something covered in the FAQ already that you are adding to. When the walkthrough is finished then we'll open the floodgates and take recommendations on everything. Feedback on what you like and don't like about the FAQ is always appreciated as well. Thanks and enjoy- The FAQ Team -----\ FAQ \----- Feel free to send in any questions you have at this time about the FAQ in general, or anything that we've covered so far that you may be confused about. ====================================================================== = II. What's New & Version History = ====================================================================== - Version 0.2 (6/13/00 - 59.9 KB) + First public release + Walkthrough complete through 10 quests. - Version 0.1 (6/xx/00 - xx.x KB) + Internal Release, Rough Draft ====================================================================== = III. Main Story Walkthrough = ====================================================================== -----\ Home \----- ITEMS: 100 Lucre ARTIFACTS: Colorblocks After placing the mailbox you'll start in your home. Note that you can save your game at the bed you woke up from to start the game. After this point to save the game, you either save at small gold statues of the sprite from Secret of Mana, or at inns being run by the same turban-clad merchants as in SoM (a nice touch either way). Head downstairs to find a chest, then through the East door to find the library with all the encyclopedia books. Skip the lands around the house right now,as they all relate to the various mini-games you'll open up along the quest. Instead, walk down the stairs and talk with the sproutling, who'll give you the Colorblocks Artifact. -----\ Domina \----- ITEMS: Bird Meat SHOPS: Equipment, Mineral ARTIFACTS: Jade Egg, Wheel Things of Interest in the town: - On the first screen, in the bottom left is a shop offering all the Menos gear and a few magical instruments. Buy a helm and gauntlet for now, but come back later to get some instruments. Duelle the Onion Warrior is in the back room, he'll be helping you with fighting later on. Mark is sitting in the chair, and by talking to him you'll receive the equipment encyclopedia for your home. - In the middle of the first screen is the Tavern, and also a chance to get your first NPC, and another artifact leading to a quest. Go in and talk to Elazul and if you choose answers which side with the girl (Rachel), then he'll storm out, and you'll see him on the town map. If so, go back to the tavern to get the Jade Egg. If you choose answers that show interest in his story, he'll join and you'll get the Egg right away. Note that if you go home after having him join he'll take off, and it's very hard to get him back. He'll rarely appear on the town map in Domina and ask you to join back up, and sometimes in the tavern, but it seems completely random. [!] The Jade Egg and Elazul lead to the "Lost Princess" quest (#5). - Directly to the left of the tavern is the inn, where you can save your game. Upstairs are two rooms, the one to the left has a chest with Bird Meat, and to the right is a guy selling Minerals (which isn't very useful right now) - To the left of the tavern is an abandoned house. By knocking on the door you can load another person's Hero from a memory card to play as a second player. - Leaving the first screen, head to the dot in the top right to find the church and to meet Inspector Boyd. You can go inside to hear a lot of gossip about the world from the Reverend. Ask through all the topics, espically Townsmen, then Others, then Meimei to get the Produce Encyclopedia. - Head to the top middle dot to find the Marketplace. For now you can get your fortune told here, by Meimei and also talk to Niccolo and get another quest. To get his quest, select No, then Yes then abandon Elazul if he's with you (you can get him back later-- he usually shows up around the church on the town map, or simply do his first and come back for Niccolo). Take Niccolo to Teapo and after a short conversation you'll get the Wheel Artifact. [!] The Wheel and Niccolo lead to the "Niccolo's Business Unusual" quest (#1). - Feel free to walk through the West side of town to meet a few more characters, but nothing of interest just yet. NEW QUEST OPTIONS- #1: Niccolo's Business Unusual #5: The Lost Princess -----\ Home II \----- - If you head to your house, then leave after completing The Lost Princess quest, then Pelican will stop you and inform you that Domina is being attacked. This triggers a new quest. NEW QUEST OPTIONS- #2: Tiny Sorcerers -----\ Domina Revisited \----- - Talk to Jessica at the marketplace to get the Item Encyclopedia. -----\ Mekiv Caverns \----- ITEMS: Blackened Bat MONSTERS: Goblins, Skeletons, Land Dragons, Sahagins After completing the Lost Princess quest, head back into the Mekiv Caverns, and you'll find that the two Boinks that were placed in the caverns are now located in the start room, and the paths there were blocking are now cleared. (The rooms in question are C and E on the map, which is added on from our first trip to the caverns in the Lost Princess quest). O S / \ / B / N---P--Q / \ / \ \ [START] -> A H C \ L R \| \ \ /| G D M | \ \ | \ \------\| F----------E / I / K-J A - The 2 boinks show up in A, revealing paths. The top one leads to C, and the bottom to E L - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 M - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 3 N - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 1 P - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 Chest: Blackened Bat Q - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 R - STALAGTITE ROOM S - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 Now you may be thinking: 'What was the point of that?', but this is an excellent place for both experience and lucre, by killing the new monsters here. Also, you have Goblins which are dropping Earthsplitter (a 2H axe that's 3 times more powerful then anything you have now, doing sick sick damage, it also adds +3 to Defense), and the Skeletons drop Wishbones (an amulet that is +4 Magic Defense and +3 Luck). Not to mention, the huge overstock of Earthsplitters can be sold for 300 lucre a piece back in Domina. -----\ Luon Highway II \----- ITEMS: Needle, Blackened Bat, Angry Eye, Poison Fang, Grave Dirt MONSTERS: Rabites, Chocobos, Spiny Cones, Chobin Hoods, Dendens, Lullabuds, Stinger Bugs Once you've completed Niccolo's Business Unusual, you can return to Luon Highway to access areas that were blocked off at point H by a Boink before. The only real point of note is that Gaeus the first Wisdom (of Earth) is here. After talking to him, he'll mention a tree around your Home, which will trigger a quest you can complete there. D-E-F / [START] -> A-B-C \ G-H-I-J N / \ / M-L-K / O / Q-P A - ENTRANCE TO LUON HIGHWAY Duelle can still be found here, and now the Boink that was once blocking the road at H is now here. J - GAEUS OF EARTH K - SIDE ROAD L - ENTRANCE TO CAVES M - CAVES OF CHOBIN HOODS N - [NAMELESS] Chest: Needle Chest: Blackened Bat O - [NAMELESS] Chest: Angry Eye Chest: Poison Fang Q - [NAMELESS] Chest: Grave Dirt -----\ Home III \----- After talking to Gaeus at the Luon Highway, go to your Home, then head South out the front door a screen (not down the stairs). You'll do some "weeding" (a small fight with 4 Lullabuds), then it will activate the Backyard Orchards mini-game (see the mini-game section), introduce you to Trent, and trigger a new quest. NEW QUEST OPTION- #56: Mana Orchard -----\ Domina III \----- Some new happenings after you complete Quests #1 and #5 - If you completed the Luon Highway after the Lost Princess quest, you saw Pearl on the Luon Highway, getting herself lost again. (If not you can go find her there now). Elazul will be here grilling poor Rachel in the tavern about where she's lost at this time. - Sandra is in the top left room at the inn. She asks about if you found Pearl or not, then is gone the next time you go in. - Daena is in the bottom right room of the inn. If you answer Yes, then Lives Forever, you trigger the quest "Wisdom of Gaeus" and she joins the force. If you answer the opposite, she takes off, and miss the quest. [!] This leads to the Wisdom of Gaeus quest (#3) - Diddle takes off on Cappella at the town square. If you go to the west end, then come back, Cappella will ask you if you've seen him and take off searching himself. Head to the inn and you'll see Cappella accusing Miss Yuka of being a kidnapper, thanks to a rumor from a Sproutling outside the inn. He then runs off to get a stamp in order to get the attention of Pelican. Head to the west side of town again and Pelican will take off with Cappella, triggering a new quest. [!] This leads to the Diddle's Mail quest (#6) - At the far west side, where you fought Bud and Lisa, you'll find Duelle and trigger the Monster Corral quest, which will open the corresponding mini-game. [!] This leads to the Monster Corral quest (#57) NEW QUEST OPTIONS- #3: Wisdom of Gaeus #6: Diddle's Mail #57: Monster Corral -----\ Lumina \----- SHOPS: Equipment, Gem Use the Firefly Lamp artifact to create Lumina. There are two dots you can follow, and a few interesting things here: - On the left side, you'll find Diddle and Cappella if you completed Diddle's Letter quest. You'll also find an Equipment shop here that specializes in Iron items, and meet some new characters. - On the right side, first screen (Bright Moon Alley), you'll find a Gem Shop that has a save point inside. - Heading Northeast from there (Morning Moon Alley), go up the stairs in the back and enter the Lamp Shop, where you'll be introduced to Monique and Gilbert. Monique is going bankerupt and needs to sell 6 more lamps, and the enamoured Gilbert takes her up on the challenge triggering a new quest. - Leaving Monique's store, Gilbert of course pawns the job of selling half the lamps on to you. Depending on how you answer you can either buy them outright at 1000 lucre a pop, or otherwise you get the lamps to sell yourself to someone else. - Head back to the left side to run the Faeries' Light quest, details are in the Quest Walkthrough sections. - Return here after finishing the Faeries' Light quest and head right to Bright Moon Alley to meet Pokiehl, another of the Seven Wisdoms. He'll ask you something about travelling to the underworld, and no matter what you answer will take off right after. This will have an effect later on however. NEW QUEST OPTIONS- #30: Faeries' Light -----\ Gato Grottoes \----- ITEMS: Moss, Aroma Oil SHOPS: Equipment, Mineral Use the flame artifact from Niccolo's Business Unusual to create the Gato Grottoes. Upon entering Gato Grottoes for the first time, you can travel either westward or northward on the town map. If you try to move to the west you'll be stopped by one of the town's many nuns, telling you that cannot pass. You'll be able to pass later, obviously. With that said, go northward on the town map. You'll arrive at the town's entrance, and when you talk to the nun and the Sproutling with stomach pain, quest #23 begins, The Flame of Hope. [!] This leads to The Flame of Hope quest (#23) - The item shop can be entered from the town's entrance, and here you'll meet Alex, a gem hunter from Geo. He'll ask you if you're looking for gems. The shop specializes in Iron weapons. There is also a save point in here. - Exiting the shop, you can find the girl who sells minerals wandering on the same screen, near the top. Continue going northward. - You'll arrive at the Pathways, where you'll be introduced to Rubens, who claims to be the fire-keeper. Rubens asks if you've seen anything suspicious, and you can tell him nothing or mention the Sproutling. After that, you can ask him about various topics of interest. - From the Pathways where Ruben is, go towards the right to reach the Cliff Terrace. Here you'll find the nun and Sproutling with a hurt tummy again. Follow the conversation, then exit the area to follow the two of them. - At the Pathways again, you should go left this time, and you'll arrive at the Temple of Healing. Once inside, you'll find a injured nun, who mentions the odd Sproutling. Inspector Boyd will come onto the scene, claiming the Sproutling is in fact Sandra, the jewel thief. At this point you can return to the Cliff Terrace to conclude this chase, but I recommend exploring the temple to find the two treasure chests, containing Moss (on the right side), and Aroma Oil (on the left). Daena can also be seen in the temple, but nothing important comes of it. - Head back to the Terrace to see another scene with Rubens, the nun and the sproutling. Back to the temple shows that a nun has been hurt, which of course brings Inspector Boyd on the case as he's finally found his crime. - When you return to the Cliff Terrace, some fairly important plot points are revealed, and Rubens meets his demise at the hands of the so-called nun. Boyd again wanders onto the screen, telling you to search the outskirts of the town for Sandra. Now you can get past the nun I mentioned at the beginning, on the southwestern part of the town map. Head there to do quest #23. NEW QUEST OPTIONS- #23: The Flame of Hope ====================================================================== = IV. Quest Walkthroughs = ====================================================================== NOTE: These quests are sorted based on the number listings in Li'l Cactus' Diary, which he writes in from your bedroom at Home, if you return there after every quest. -----\ #1. Nicollo's Business Unusual \----- LOCATION: Luon Highway TRIGGER: Talk to Nicollo then Teapo in Domina COMPLETE: Defeat Mantis Ant ITEMS: Ear of Wheat, Greenball Bun, Tako Bug, IronPot, Odd Meat ARTIFACTS: Flame, Medallion MONSTERS: Rabites, Chocobos, Spiny Cones, Chobin Hoods, Dendens, Lullabuds, Stinger Bugs BOSS: Mantis Ant OPTION: If you don't take Nicollo along, he'll run up at the end to give you your reward. You also won't find Daena along the path (you'll see her later though). D-E-F / [START] -> A-B-C \ G-H-I-J Notes: A - ENTRANCE TO LUON HIGHWAY Duelle can be found here with game pointers. After the quest has been completed, Boink can be found here and he'll warp you to H. B - MAIN ROAD C - FORK Chest: Ear of Wheat D - THE GREAT RIFT SIDE F - LORANT TABLELAND Boss: Mantis Ant You'll run into bandits here, and they'll call their boss if you give them candy or money. BOSS FIGHT - Mantis Ant Attacks: Claw Slash Spinning Claw Spinning Claw with shockwave blast Shoots snot out of nose-like area (or something) ^_^ There's very little strategy involved in beating the Mantis Ant. Use your quick attacks and throw in a few special techniques for good measure. He'll go down quick and easy. After you defeat him, Niccolo will thank you (or if you don't have him along, he'll show up and thank you), and end up giving you three items a Greenball Bun, a Tako Bug, and an IronPot, along with two artifacts, the Flame and Medallion. NEW AREA: Jungle (from Medallion - Triggers quest) Gato Grottoes (from Flame) NEW QUEST OPTION: #8: Huntin' Du'Cate (at Jungle) -----\ #2. Tiny Sorcerers \----- LOCATION: Domina TRIGGER: Clear Quest #5, return home and talk to Pelican COMPLETE: Defeat Bud and Lisa Head to the far west in Domina, past where Pelican is delivering the mail, and you'll find Bud and Lisa. They are two amateur sorcerers who are up to no good, pestering poor Pelican with pumpkins. Walking up to them starts a mini-boss fight, which again is easy (espically if you have Earthsplitter from above). The only thing to watch out for is if you see Bud go to cast his Gnome-class spell, then to run behind him to avoid the falling rocks. After the fight, Bud will request to become your apprentice. If you approve, they start living in your home. If you don't approve... they show up there later in the game anyway. Talking to them results in them asking you to take them with you. Bud wants to go see the Seven Wisdoms (triggers a quest), and Lisa just wants to tag along for now. You can take one or the other, or neither. NEW QUEST OPTIONS- ###: Seven Wisdoms -----\ #3. The Wisdom of Gaeus \----- LOCATION: Luon Highway TRIGGER: Talk to Daena at the Domina Inn and say 'Yes' then 'Live on forever' COMPLETE: Take Daena to Gaeus ITEMS: ForbiddenRing MONSTERS: Rabites, Chocobos, Spiny Cones, Chobin Hoods, Dendens, Lullabuds, Stinger Bugs D-E-F / [START] -> A-B-C \ G-H-I-J N / \ / M-L-K / O / Q-P J - GAEUS THE EARTH This is your objective, bring Daena here and talk to Gaeus to complete the quest. Upon completion of this quest, you'll receive a ForbiddenRing from Daena. -----\ #5. The Lost Princess \----- LOCATION: Mekiv Caverns TRIGGER: Talk to Elazul then Rachel in Domina COMPLETE: Defeat Du'inke ITEMS: Lizard Meat, Vampire Fang, Blank Eye, Moth Wing ARTIFACTS: Stone Eye, Firefly Lamp MONSTERS: Bloodsuckers, Potos, Pincher Crabs, Mushbooms, Tonpoles BOSS: Du'inke OPTIONS: You can do this quest with or without Elazul (if you make him leave by going home). This will change the text at the end of this quest between you, Elazul and Pearl, but it doesn't SEEM to effect any of the quest. We'll update later if we hear any differently. B / \ [START] -> A H C \| \ G D \ \ F---E / I / K-J Notes: A - ENTRANCE TO MEKIV CAVERNS Duelle is here giving pointers on fighting B - GROUND LEVEL Chest: Lizard Meat C - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 1 A sproutling is here with nothing interesting to say Boink (the Teleport Hippo =p) teleports you back to A here E - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 Chest: Blank Eye Boink: Teleport to A F - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 2 G - GROUND LEVEL H - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 1 Chest: Vampire Fang I - UNDERGROUND LEVEL 3 J - [NAMELESS] Chest: Moth Wing Sandra the thief is here to set up the boss fight K - STALAGMITE CAVERN Boss: Du'inke BOSS FIGHT - Du'inke Attacks: Kick Axe Slash Axe Throw Smashes ground with axe, stalagmites fall from ceiling Breathes in, then exhales out in front of him This fight is actually ridiculously simple. All of his attacks shoot straight in front of him, so simply stay behind him and wail away with combos, and special techniques when able. He'll go down quickly. After the fight, you'll meet Pearl in a conversation, and she'll give you the Stone Eye and Firefly Lamp artifacts. NEW AREA: Lake Kilma (from Stone Eye - Triggers quest) Lumina (from Firefly Lamp) NEW QUEST OPTION: #10: The Gorgon Eye (at Lake Kilma) -----\ #6. Diddle's Letter \----- LOCATION: Luon Highway TRIGGER: Talk to Diddle and Cappella multiple times after Quests #1 COMPLETE: Follow Diddle and Cappella around, kill Giga Rex ITEMS: Gator Skin D-E-F / [START] -> A-B-C \ G-H-I-J N / \ / M-L-K / O / Q-P Notes: (In the order you must complete them in) H - Cappella finds Diddle's letter here and tries to read it. He reads the letter and wanders off L - Diddle's here, and asks if Cappella read the letter. If you put 'no' then they walk off as friends. A - Cappella and Diddle are here, and Diddle's not pleased that you lied about Cappella reading the letter P - Cappella says Diddle is inside (Q) and there's a monster there Q - You fight a Giga Rex here. He's a modified Land Dragon, but has a lot of HP. He's slow and only slashes in front, so keep your distance and you'll be fine. After beating Giga Rex, Cappella and Diddle make up and take off. Before Diddle leaves however, he hands you Gator Skin. -----\ #8. Huntin' Du'Cate \----- LOCATION: Jungle TRIGGER: Enter Jungle after getting the Medallion from Quest #1 COMPLETE: Defeat Du'Cate ITEMS: Moss, Rotten Meat, Animal Meat, Blank Eye, Sharp Claw, Acid, Poison Powder ARTIFACTS: Sand Rose, Ancient Tablet (if you don't have it already) MONSTERS: Tomato Men, Zombines, Spiny Cones, Cockatrices, Malboros, Tyrannos BOSS: Du'Cate O \ N R--S--T /| / P M--Q / H------G--F | | | | /-\ | | \-I | | | /| | | | L--K | | | | | | | | | J-/ | | | | | | /-/ | \--E | | | B----/ | D /| | | [START]-> A \----------C----/ Notes: A - ENTRANCE TO THE JUNGLE Here you meet Skippie and Hamson, who are being sent to hunt Du'Cate in order to pay off a loan to Sotherbee. You join in the fray upon hearing about the 20,000 lucre reward. B - SOUTHERN SECTION You'll meet some faeries here, and also a lilipea, which you could use to get around without getting lost (if you didn't have this map that is) C - SOUTHERN SECTION D - COURTYARD OF RAIN Chest: Moss F - [NAMELESS] More faeries are here. Chest: Rotten Meat G - SOUTHERN SECTION Chest: Animal Meat H - WESTERN SECTION I - WESTERN SECTION K - [NAMELESS] Skippie is here, watch where she runs for the hidden passage to L Chest: Blank Eye L - GREENWOOD GARDENS A penquin will show up after you defeat the monsters and cast a spell on you so that you won't get lost. Chest: Sharp Claw M - SOUTHERN SECTION Follow Hamson to N to advance the quest. N - FORESTED RUINS Skippie will say there's a beast beyond Q, and then Hamson will run into P. If you talk to Skippie before he leaves he'll mention that P leads to the faeries and they'll teleport you to the start There's also a save statue here. O - ROSIOTTI'S THRONE Roane, a penquin asks you to find his sister Selkie around the Courtyard of Rain when you are done hunting the Du'cate. You can reach this quest by re-entering the Jungle after beating this one Rosiotti, one of the Seven Wisdoms, is also here on his throne, he'll mention that you need to work together to catch the Du'Cate Chest: Acid P - FOREST OF THE FAERIES For now, the faeries simply kick you out, teleporting you to A. Q - DU'CATE'S TERRITORY R - DU'CATE'S TERRITORY Chest: Poison Powder S - DU'CATE'S TERRITORY T - SPRING OF THE BEASTS If you come here after fighting Du'Cate or before joining up with Skippie and Hamson, then you'll find Plant Monster Eggs here. Boss: Du'Cate To complete the quest, first go to L and get the spell cast on you. Then head to O and talk to Rosiotti you'll tell you to team up. Jump into P to teleport back to the beginning, at which point you'll find Skippie at B and Hamson at I. Each one will ask you to team up then take off if you answer "Yes" to them, do so with each of them. After doing so you can follow Skippie from B-G-F-M-Q, then into the Spring of the Beasts where they'll draw out Du'Cate for you to fight. BOSS FIGHT - Du'Cate Attacks: Throws fruit down from ceiling Flashes, then slams the ground, causing fruit to fall Another simple fight (but aren't they all?). The best strategy this time is to actually stay close to him because he tends to shoot his fruit out in an arc away from him. This makes it easy to wail on him while doing so with combos and STs. The only other thing of mention is when he flashes, he'll jump up into the trees, and butt-splash down to the ground. Make sure you move away until he lands, then get in close again. Fruit will fall all around, and you can actually use him as an "umbrella" to guard against the fruit hitting you. After beating him Sotherbee will give you some lucre (not 20,000 though, the cheapskate), and the Sand Rose and Ancient Tablet artifacts. (Note the Ancient Tablet is also obtainable through the Flame of Hope quest as well.) -----\ #10. Gorgon's Eye \----- LOCATION: Lake Kilma TRIGGER: Enter Lake Kilma after getting the Stone Eye from Quest #5 COMPLETE: Defeat Gorgon's Eye ITEMS: Fish Meat, Healing Claw, Moth Ring, Sleepy Eye, White Feather, Hairball, Ear of Wheat, Poison Powder, Forsena Iron MONSTERS: Tonpoles, Tezlas, Shireknips, Spiny Cones, Stinger Bugs, Teedies, Chobin Hoods, Beholders, Grey Oxes BOSS: Gorgon's Eye T-S \ R \ Q / H J--K--L / / \ | F--G--I \ | / N--M / B / / \ P-O E--D--C---A [START] Notes: A - ENTRANCE TO LAKE KILMA You are introduced to Capt'n Tusk and his penquin crew here. B - SOUTHERN WOODS Chest: Moth Ring C - SOUTHERN WOODS D - SOUTHERN WOODS Chest: Fish Meat E - SOUTHERN SHORE F - SOUTHERN SHORE G - SOUTHERN SHORE You meet Tote here. By helping him out and flipping him over he'll cast a spell that allows you to see the faeries. Chest: Healing Claw H - EASTERN SHORE Chest: Sleepy Eye I - IN THE WOODS J - IN THE WOODS You see the pirates retreating further into the woods here. There's also a save statue here as well. K - EASTERN SHORE Chest: White Feather L - IN THE WOODS Some faeries are here, being totally unhelpful. N - [NAMELESS] More faeries are here, being as unhelpful as the last. Chest: Hairball P - [NAMELESS] Here you see 3 yellow faeries to the left, which quickly disappear out of sight. Nothing here for the time being. Q - NORTHERN SHORE Chests: Ear of Wheat, Poison Powder R - NORTHERN SHORE S - CLIFF OVERLOOKING THE LAKE You'll see a faerie here throwing the crew over the cliff, then turning the captain to stone with a laser. Tote shows up shortly after, and follows you by jumping down the cliff after you. T - BOTTOM OF CLIFF The turtle and the crew make plans to save the captain which basically boil down to you killing the monster. Big surprise. Boss: Gorgon's Eye BOSS FIGHT - Gorgon's Eye Attacks: Spikes from sides or head Star shoots forward (can confuse or put you to sleep) Shoots a wide purple laser across the screen Rises up in the air, and shoots a ring laser down beneath Shoots spikes out all around his body Can also teleport This fight isn't too bad, but he does have a lot of attacks which can make things ugly for you if you fight haphazardly. You'll basically want to attack from the back as much as you can, but if you must fight from the front, watch for some warning signs that he's about to use a special attack. A few are, flashing in and out a few times (can also mean he's teleporting though), his eye dilating, or his eye looking around from side to side real quick. If you see any of these, back away from him, espically if your in front. Other then that, normal combos and STs should take him down fairly quickly. After the fight, the captain is recovered and the crew leaves. Tote gives you Forensa Iron. -----\ #23. Flame of Hope \----- This will be updated in the next version of the FAQ. -----\ #30. Fairies' Light \----- LOCATION: Lumina TRIGGER: Talk to Monique and Gilbert and get the lamps to sell. COMPLETE: Sell the lamps to the Dudbears First off, head to the left side of Lumina, and talk to The Manager who is upstairs in the back. He'll teach you the language of the Dudbears which is listed here as follows for quick reference: "Dub!" - Greeting or Yes "Dud" - Goodbye or No "Duba" - You "Duda" - Me "Dubba" - Friends "Bubu" - Dudbear "Gugu" - All other creatures "Da" - Light or Stars "Ba" - Night "Dadda" - Lamp "Dubababa" - Many or Very "Du" - Little "Baba" - Music "Dada" - Please "Gak" - shows displeasure "Bub?" - when you don't understand "Dada Dadda?" - to attempt to sell a lamp The technique here is to basically have a small conversation, answer the Dudbear's questions here truthfully, and eventually they'll confirm the fact that they are friends with you. At that point only ask to sell the lamp. Head to the first Dudbear to the right of where you learned the language and answer with 3 "Duds", then 2 "Dubs" then "Dada Dadda?" to sell the first lamp. Head downstairs and talk to the Dudbear on the left walking around. Here answer with "Dub", then 2 "Duds", then 2 "Dubs" then "Dada Dadda?" to sell the second lamp. Leave and head for the right side of Lumina and talk to the Dudbear in the Bright Moon Alley. Answer with 3 "Duds", then 2 "Dubs" then "Dada Dadda?" to sell the last of the lamps. Head back to Gilbert and hand him the 3000 lucre for selling the lamps and you'll see a conversation between him and Monique in the store. Follow them outside to hear the most messed-up love conversation you ever did see. Follow Monique back in to see more conversation, and to receive the artifact Trembling Spoon. -----\ #56. Mana Orchards \----- LOCATION: Home TRIGGER: Talk to Gaeus on Luon Highway, he'll mention tree at Home COMPLETE: Give Trent seeds, wait a few days, then harvest them. Head south out the door of your Home (not down the steps), after having talked to Gaeus (he'll explain that there's a giant tree at your House). You'll have to fight a battle to "weed" the area out (4 Lullabuds), then Trent will appear and explain the Backyard Orchard mini-game. To complete the quest, give Trent some seeds, then go walk around the main map or complete some other quests. Come back when the Produce is fully grown, stand underneath it and hit X to grab it. Then place it in the box. NEW MINI-GAME: Backyard Orchard -----\ #57. Monster Corral \----- LOCATION: Domina & Home TRIGGER: Complete Quests #1 & #5, head to the west end of Domina COMPLETE: Listen to tutorial on how to breed monsters. Duelle will teach you how to catch an egg and raise it, also showing you where the Barn and Corral are at your Home. The quest ends after the tutorial is over. For more detail on the mini-game, check the appropiate section. NEW MINI-GAME: Monster Corral ====================================================================== = V.
