******************************************************** * ININDO: WAY OF THE NINJA * * Kurt Zillgitt (DragonScholarRyu@hotmail.com) * ******************************************************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ JAPAN 1581 IGA PROVINCE "Young one, the army of the Nobunaga will arrive by sunrise. Although hopelessly outnumbered, we Iga ninja will resist as long as we are able. You are too young to help us. Run now to the secret village and seek training from the Elder. While Nobunaga is alive, you will be hunted as an outlaw. But one day, when you are ready, you may take revenge..." In 1581 the warlord Oda Nobunaga sent a vast army to Iga as part of his effort to conquer all of Japan. A small band of Iga ninja tried to defend but were soon overwhelmed by Nobunaga's hordes. When it was over, all that remained was a nightmarish landscape ravaged by flame. Will no one avenge Nobunaga's crime? "Momochi was wise to have sent you to me. Though old, still I can teach you much of the secret art of Ninjutsu. Nobunaga thinks he has destroyed all the Iga ninja. If he learns you are here, he will surely send men after you. You must be prepared. My granddaughter Rei will train alongside you. Although small, she fights with great skill. We'll begin training at once!" Train well, for great danger lies ahead... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CONTENTS I. About This Strategy Guide II. Controls III. Japanese Pronunciation The character and location names in Inindo, plus some of the equipment, are written in Romaji, which is the English way to write Japanese. Yeah, that does sound weird. Let's just say said names should be pronounced in Japanese. Thus, a guide to Japanese vowels follows. A - pronounced like the a in "father" E - pronounced like the a in "hay" I - pronounced like the ee in "feet" O - pronounced like the o in "fort" U - pronounced like the oo in "mood" EXAMPLES Inindo is pronounced as "ee-neen-doh" Nobunaga is pronounced as "noh-boo-nah-gah" Iga is pronounced as "ee-gah" Momochi is pronounced as "moh-moh-chee" Eiyu is pronounced as "ay-yoo" Ise is pronounced as "ee-say" Gennojo is pronounced as "gain-noh-joh" Toriyama is pronounced as "toh-ree-yah-mah" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IV. Getting Started Select "Begin a new game" from the main menu, and enter a name for the hero. For the rest of this strategy guide, the hero will be referred to as "Eiyu", which means "hero" in Japanese. You will start in the secret ninja village. You can talk to the people around the village if you like (to talk to someone, just walk into them), or head to the Elder. You'll find him at the north end of the village. While talking with the Elder, Nobunaga's troops will arrive. Eiyu will try to escape from the village, but a Top Ninja and 2 Ninja Shadows will intercept him. At his current Level, he stands no chance against the enemy ninjas, and will quickly be defeated. Luckily, the ninjas are forced to leave before they can finish Eiyu off. The Elder will awaken Eiyu and completely heal his wounds. At this point, you will regain control of Eiyu. Leave the village and head north until you see a small cave. Enter it, and build Eiyu up to Level 7. You'll also want to find and take the Password and 2 Medicines hidden in the cave. As you exit the cave, there will be a short cutscene as Eiyu hides in some bushes, and watches Nobunaga and his army pass by. After the cutscene, head to the east and you will see a stone pillar with "Good luck Eiyu!" written on it. Head south from the pillar and you will come to Ise Castle. Enter and you can talk to the villagers, meet some characters at the Inn, and buy equipment, if you like. From this point on, what you do is up to you, as this is a very non-linear game. Since you cannot be hired for jobs until you reach Level 15, I would recommend you go to Mikawa Castle next, where you can find out the location of the next training dungeon. To get to Mikawa, head north-east from Ise, following the coastline until you come to a bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the coastline south, then go east, staying below the forest. You should see Mikawa Castle soon after. You can find out the locations of the next training dungeon (Mt. Fuji), Kai Castle, and Totomi Castle. The rest is up to you. Good luck! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ V. Hints You have until January of 1601 to kill Oda Nobunaga. When you enter a dungeon, no matter how much time you spend in it, only 1 game day will have passed when you exit. Thus, you can build up for a long time without much game time passing. Use this to your advantage. When a character gains a Level, their Health and Energy will be completely restored. When you have the menu screen up out of battle, you can press left to see your party members' max Health and Energy. You cannot recruit additional members for your party until Eiyu has reached Level 7. To recruit characters for your party, you must first Meet them in Inns, and Talk with them until their trust in you is at least about 50 before you can Recruit them. You can Recruit Iga Ninjas without raising their Trust in you at all sometimes. When asking a character to join your party, try asking them several times in a row, if they refuse at first. If that does not work, Talk to them, then try Recruiting them again the next day. Sometimes, when you choose the Meet option at an Inn, your party will be immediately attacked by a character, such as a Koga Ninja. Be careful, and be prepared! You will not be able to get hired for a job until Eiyu has reached Level 15. Unlike other characters, who learn magic by gaining Levels, Eiyu must go through the various training dungeons scattered across Japan to learn spells. When Lodging at an Inn, you will sometimes be approached by a character who will want to join your party (if you have openings), or who will immediately attack you. It is recommended that you Save before Lodging, or at least be prepared for a fight. Every couple of days of overworld travel, Eiyu and his party must rest. After resting, you may be approached by a character who will want to join your party (if you have openings), or who will immediately attack you. Be prepared! Eventually, when you've completed all the training dungeons and are ready to take on Nobunaga, you'll need to have a daimyo conquer Yamashiro, Echizen, Mino, or Ise. This will let you pass through the checkpoints around Azuchi castle, your final destination. To make money quick, get someone to join you, unequip all their items, sell the items to a Guild, then Part company with the robbed character. Of course, don't do this if you intend to keep the character on your team, or they won't have anything to defend themselves with. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VI.
