Also, added the props section 3/5/01 - Initial release __________________________________________________________ 2. INTRODUCTION I'm assuming you have at least a knowledge of Hiragana, and Katakana, so none of that will be covered here. If you're not familiar with it, there are scads of tutorials on Japanese writing. Lennus is an RPG series on the Super Famicom (Super NES), created by Asmik in Japan. The first one was released here in the US as Paladin's Quest by Enix in 1993. The second came out in 1996 and never made it over here. This is probably because Enix America went under a while ago. Plus, it was the twilight of the 16-bit age, and 32 and 64-bit machines were growing in popularity. The story of Lennus 2 (from what I can make of it) is about a young man named Farse who was summoned to a temple on the floating continent of Andell, whick is broken down into 4 islands. In order to re-unite them, he must obtain an orb (I smell FF1) for each of the 4 islands and return them to the temple. _________________________________________________________ 3. GAMEPLAY 3-1 Menus Those familiar with Paladin's Quest should know how the battle menus work. The non-battle menus are different though. Here's sort of what the main menu looks like. Press X to access it. Then, press the control pad in the direction of what option you would like to use. Save Recover All + Command Party Save: Self-explanatory. SNES users, be sure to do this often. If you're playing on an emulator, this is fairly useless. Recover All: Uses whatever healing bottles you have in your inventory to heal your party. Command: This is where you can view items, magic, character stats, and equipment. Party: This is where you can reorder your party, as well as de-equip and/or dump other party members (with the exception of Farse) --------------------------------------------------- 3-2 Magic System Magic in Lennus 2 is rather interesting. It is broken down into 8 elements; fire, wind, water, earth, light, and 3 others. (Can't read the kanji) As you go through the game and its towns, you will find machines that let Farse equip these elements and use their particular magic. As their levels go up (8 being the max), your spells will be more powerful, and combined with other elements, you will have access tohigher level spells. You can have up to a certain number of these elements equipped at one time. You can get more as the game progresses. You can unlock the other elements if you defeat their elemental spirits scattered throughout the game. The other characters can't use the magic machines, as their magic elements are predetermined. Don't get too dependent on magic, as it takes a small part of your HP (there's no MP in this game) _____________________________________________________________ 4. WALKTHROUGH _____________________________________________________________ 4-1 Intro When you start a new game, you'll be asked if you want to change your hero's name. If you say yes, you can rename your character. If no, the intro scene will begin. After the scene, you arrive at some sort of temple, where you are greeted by some guy with really big ears. Answer yes to his question, then go talk to the black robed guy to go downstairs to the third floor. While down- stairs, go right to get to a room with 5 chests. Take these items, as they will come in handy. On the second floor, go right, and you'll be in a room with a bunch of pointy-eared people. These are Teranos, the natives of Andell. Pick three of them to join your team. Trust me, you'll need 'em. My team consisted of Farse, Jord, Clester, and Milenia. Check their stats and decide which ones are best for you. This is just what I used. Once you've got your party formed, go down the elevator to the first floor where a robed guy will bring you over to the magic machine, and tell you about it. See the explanation of magic in the gameplay section. To the right of the elevator, there's a lady in front of a machine which refills your bottles. These are also in the towns. After that, go downstairs to leave the temple, and you'll be on the world map. You may want to walk around and fight a few battles before going into town. --------------------------------------------------- 4-2 Guandel and the first dungeon Recommended level: 3-6 Once you arrive in Guandel, a man will walk up to you and realize who you are. He will go around town and tell everyone that Farse has arrived, and the towns- people will come out of their houses. You will then be taken to the elder who will throw a party in your honor and you'll stay the night over there. Go around town and buy some new equipment in the shops. In the backyard of the house on the northeastern part of town, there's a guy with some sort of flying machine. He can't make it fly without a creature called a gwanzi (Sort of cross between a bird, a turtle, and a helicopter) Once you're ready, go south, east until you reach a cave. You are now in the first dungeon. Make your way through the dungeon adn grab whatever chests you see. On the way, you'll run into giant eggs. When you touch them, you'll fight a monster called Kodoren (550 HP) These guys are fairly easy to defeat. Just use Kekan, as it does around 80-150 HP of damage. Keep going until you reach a room with a bunch of tubes in it. Kodoren eggs are sent through these tubes. If you come in contact with an egg, you'll have to fight it. So just be careful and avoid the eggs as you make your way. After that, there's one more room before the boss. Your team should all be on at least level 6. You can build up to 7 or 8 to be on the safe side. Once in the boss's room (you'll know, because you'll hear a heart beating.) heal up, and get ready to fight. ------------------ BOSS: Doren HP: 2500 ------------------ Just keep casting Kekan on him, and it'll do 85-150 damage on it just like the Kodoren. Also, be sure to have some mini bottles equipped as he has two nasty attacks. One is where he bites one of your characters. This usually does upwards of 100 damage. He also has a wind attack that does upwards of 100 damage on everyone. If someone is running low on HP, have them use a mini bottle. Also, when the Doren gets low on HP, it'll summon a tube that will shoot an egg into its mouth and heal it for about 300 HP. This could be a serious problem if your guys are low on HP, and you can't take him out fast enough. So, just keep pounding away with Kekan, and you'll win. Now, take the orb and the gwanzi egg, then make your way out. The kodoren egg tubes still produce eggs, so watch out. Back in Guandel, give the egg to Ben, and he'll put it in that machine of his, and a gwanzi will pop out. He'll ask if you need a ride. Say yes, and you'll all get into the cart. The gwanzi will then pick it up and fly you to your next destination. --------------------------------------------------- 4-3 Revnant, and the second dungeon Recommended level: 6-10 You will now land in the town of Revnant, and Ben will give you an item which you can use to call the gwanzi. Go around town and upgrade your equipment as usual, and talk to the people. There are two exits in the southern part of town, but you can't leave. Go up to the house on the northeastern part of town. Here, you'll find two guys guarding a door leading to a stair- case. Just when you think it's hopeless, there's another way up. Examine the second bookcase on the left, and it'll move, revealing a secret stairway. Talk to the kid in blue upstairs, and he'll move another bookcase for you. Talk to the old man in bed, and he'll get out of bed and bring a couple of maids and some food. (It seems Farse is incredibly popular on Andell, as he is invited to dinner in every town he's been to so far.) After that, you'll spend the night at the house. After that, talk to the guy on the roof (I'm not sure if you have to do this) then go to the south side of town and the guards will let you leave. Once outside, head north and go down a hill, and you'll arrive at your next dungeon. There are floors with fire coming from them, as well as flame throwers. If you touch these flames, all everyone's HP will be reduced to 1. There are switches you need to step on to deactivate the fires. Some switches are even used to turn off flames for the floor below. Make your way down until you reach the room with the boss and get ready to fight. Just like before, be sure to have some mini bottles equipped on your teammates. ------------------ BOSS: Kei, Zuzanart HP: 1000 (Kei) HP: 3000 (Zuzanart) ------------------ Kei isn't all too hard. He uses an attack that takes upwards of 90 HP off of one of your guys. After beating on him for a while, he'll turn into Zuzanart. This guy can prove to be quite dangerous. As if his flame breath weren't enough, he has another attack which hits everyone for upwards of 120 HP. Ouch! Just use Leran and physical attacks, and don't get behind on your healing. After beating Zuzanart, Kei will run off. Get the orb, and you'll see the same bald guy like last time. After that, make your way out of the dungeon. Back in Revnant, the guy on the elder's roof will allow you to use the transporter. At the teleporter, you'll have two choices of where to go next. You will have to do them both inevitably. If you went to Kua Teran, go to section 4-5. --------------------------------------------------- 4-4 Gondo Arta, the ghost town Recommended level: 10-13 Once you enter, the town will be in a deep fog. No one is outside, and the weapons adn armor shop is closed. The inn is open though. Go to the northeastern part of town where you see some blue guys near a door. Go in the door, and talk to the guy on the bed. The image of a woman will appear above him and say a few things. Go to the big house norht of the gravestones and talk to the kid in the bed. Answer yes to his question, and he'll give you the combination to the third safe (the one to the far right) Examine the safe and press Up, Right, Right, Left, and Down in that exact order. If you did it right, you'll get a key to Tol Maira, the dungeon up north. Head up there, then once inside, open the center door. Make your way through, until you reach a treasure chest at the very north end. Heal up first though, because you'll have to fight a boss once you open it. ------------------ BOSS: Forga 1st form HP: 2900 2nd form HP: 3625 ------------------ For both forms, just use Zuzan and physical attacks. Her second form has two nasty attacks. One is where she shoots a laser and hits everyone for 150+ damage. Another is where she beats the crap out of everyone and does more damage as you have fewer party members. I had only one guy left and she did that to me, and it took off upwards of 1000 HP! She seems to use these quite often when you start wearing her down. Just keep everyone healthy and keep using Zuzan, and you'll win. After beating Forga, the mist in Gondo Arta will clear up. The kid in the big house will give you the combinations to the other two safes. Third safe: Up, Right, Right, Left, Down Second safe: Left, Right, Left, Down, Down First safe: Down, Down, Up, Left, Left Go back to the dungeon and get the treasures behind the other two doors. The first door has the orb. When you're done, leave and have the gwanzi take you to Qua Teran (if you've been there) If you haven't been there, go back to Du Teran, and talk to the guy on he roof in Revnant and he'll warp you to Qua Teran. --------------------------------------------------- 4-5 Giant Town Recommended level: 11-15 Strange name for a place full of little people. You can upgrade your equipment here, as well as heal, and fill your bottles. When you're ready, go to the southeast part of town and you'll find 2 caves. the first one, you have to step on switches to get past the rocks. Some of the switches will be guarded by creatures called Baikinder (1800 HP) Just use Zuzan, Relan, or, Rerisun on them. Keep going and you'll reach the boss. ------------------ BOSS: Baikinsandar HP: 2400 ------------------ Not much to really worry about with this thing. Zuzan and Rerisun work well. After that, the cave will disappear. Now, heal up and proceed to the next cave. This area involves a bunch of tunnels. Occasionally, while in the tunnels, you'll run into a couple of dragons with about 500 HP a piece. They're not too hard. Once you reach the end, you'll run into another Baikinsandar. Just use the same strategy. Once both of the little people are free, they will all go into the box and will merge to form the giant, Egress. Now you can walk over the rocks up north. The next dungeon is kinda tricky. You have to hit certain switches to drain the water in certain areas. I just hit switches at random and found my way by accident. The fifth floor down is the boss. ------------------ BOSS: Mad Mudbron HP: 6400 ------------------ This guy's physical attacks can be dangerous. They can deal out upwards of 200 damage on a single character. He also has a laser attack that does about 90+ damage. Fire adn wind spells seem to work well. --------------------------------------------------- 4-6 The Fusion Recommended level: 11-15 Go outside and summon the gwanzi and have it take you to Al Teran. Go north to the temple. Inside, a man in black will run up to you and ask you about the 4 orbs. Say yes, and go up to the fourth floor. Go to the control panel below the big screen and place the orbs. A cool cutscene will begin showing the fusion of the 4 islands. After that, you'll be taken to a mysterious new continent below. --------------------------------------------------- That is the end of this walkthrough. I'll add more as I get to it. _____________________________________________________________ 5.
