Thanks to J.C.C. for sending it, but if you have a strategy you think is better, send it in. It, too, may be published. 0.9 – First update! Since I'm one of those people who almost beats the entire game before I start my FAQs, I've defeated every boss in the game except for the last Homncruse. Look for that in a future update. ***2) Introduction*** This is a boss guide for Tecmo's Secret of the Stars. The game is next to impossible to find (try funcoland.com for starters), so technically, this guide is to help everyone who found the game but got stuck on an early boss, got frustrated, threw the game against the wall, and had the game remain intact to be playable again. Most bosses in this game cannot be defeated by physical attacks alone, so it takes a bit of strategy and planning ahead to overcome the toughest bosses. Anyway, on with the FAQ. ***3) To The Volcano!*** The first boss in the game is in the town near your house, but don't go there until you level up first. At level 1, this guy is a pain in the butt. At level 3, he's dead meat. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #1: Cat Boo | | | | Party: Ray | | | | Recommended Level: 3 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Cat Boo can be found in Likado, in a house in the north. He is in between two beds, and he is disguised as a normal cat* (and he's about as strong as one, should you be at level 3). *Note: CVagts does not advocate violence towards cats. They are lovable, cute, and as long as they don't cough up a hairball on you, they're one of the best things to have around the house. First and foremost, to be safe, you should have gotten 3 Plum-Plums from the farmer near your house, and another from your house, in that order (if you messed up, no biggie, just one less Plum-Plum). Cat Boo can only attack you, and you can only attack it. Attack Cat Boo until your HP is below 12 or so. Use a Plum-Plum and resume attacks. Cat Boo succumbs quickly, but don't get too cocky: this is just the first of many bosses to come. You should then advance the story (hey, this isn't a walkthrough, this is a boss guide. I might do a walkthrough later, though) until you meet the typical mad scientist-type character, Dr. Gari. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #2: Dr. Gari | | | | Party: Ray | | | | Recommended Level: 7 or 8 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Dr. Gari can be found at the end of the Jeep Volcano trail up, and then into it. Do not use any MP on the way, though, there is a bed near Dr. Gari to rest in (beds only restore HP, though, conserve MP). Make sure you have at least a Short Sword from Likado (120 GP) and a NomalHat (Nomal?) (40 GP). A Hard Suit (320 GP) is nice, but not necessary. Also, save the NomalHat you found in the volcano for Tina. Dr. Gari can not do that much damage to you, but when he blows gas (hee hee, you farted!), it can do around 10-15 damage, so recognize who goes first, and keep your HP above 20, and attack Dr. Gari. DO NOT USE YOUR FIRE SPELL. Your MP is limited right now, so you must save it for Heal. Dr. Gari will eventually fall to your "awesome Pennon power." Dr. Gari blows up Jeep Volcano and Heart Island (kinda-sorta), and Bosen, who will become an important part to the plot later, rescues you. ***4) Come Here, Little Doggie*** You will end up in Old Hill. West will take you to a town called Winds, where some kids will join your "town." South, then east takes you to a Star Shrine, but you don't need to go there for a while. South takes you to a town called Beegees, where dogs are EVERYWHERE!!! (just kidding, a villain turned the people into dogs*) *Note: CVagts does not recommend you turn people into dogs. It's not nice. Inside the chapel are the only people in the town NOT turned into dogs. The bad news is, one is in the corner, one is a helpless priest, and three are, well... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #3: Badman (x3) | | | | Party: Ray | | | | Recommended Level: 10 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| The Badmen (original name, huh?) can be found inside the chapel at Beegees. These guys are not tough, except there are three of them. The good news is, they are like three Cat Boos: all they do is attack. When all three attack, they can do up to 20 damage or so. So, save MP for Heal, heal when under 25 HP or so, and attack one at a time. How much simpler could it be? ***IMPORTANT TIP!!!*** ***PAY ATTENTION!!!*** ***By the way, now would be a good time to tell you an old secret of mine: the Swap-Save trick. It is very advantageous for Badbad and other bad guys. Have the Pennons/Banalets/Aqutallions stand RIGHT BESIDE the villain WITHOUT TALKING TO THEM!!!! Then, swap to Kustera, who you should keep in a town with Uncle Save (Old Hill). They should save it, then Swap, THEN talk to the bad guy. If you lose, no need to lose half of your money, hit the ol' Reset button, Swap to Aqutallions, and try again. It doesn't get ANY simpler, does it? Of course, it doesn't make the bosses any simpler, either.*** At any rate, walk through the south cave and then to Badbad's House. Again, use no MP, because Badbad's house has a HP-restore only bed. Now, to fight the first "real" boss of this game, Badbad (yet ANOTHER original name). _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #4: Badbad | | | | Party: Ray, Tina | | | | Recommended Level: 12, 11 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Badbad can be found at the Badbad-House, which is at the end of a path beginning at a cave south of Beegees (Also, be aware that the levels are respective: 12 for Ray, 11 for Tina). Make sure you have the following spells: Heal 1 for both Ray and Tina, Freeze 1 (Tina), and Slow 1 (Tina). Have Tina cast Slow 1 on Badbad until Ray's attacks do around 20 damage a turn. Then, have Tina cast Freeze 1 on Badbad (her attacks are minimal). It helps to find the HardSuit in Badbad's house (if there is one, don't remember too well) for Tina. Badbad usually attacks for around 25-30 or so a turn, so keep your HP above 35, and have the weak person heal themselves, in case Badbad kills them. It helps to use the Save/Swap routine. Badbad will eventually fall to the mighty power of Pennon (REAL threatening). Congratulations! You just defeated your first major boss! ***5) The Big Ol' Beast*** After using the Dogpill* (which you _hopefully_ found in Badbad's House, step on the throne he was sitting in, HINT HINT), you should find the Mayor's house, where he is guarding the stairs. *Note: CVagts does not recommend you give dogs some pills to turn them into people. After all, dogs are man's best friend, not a person. Talk to him to go down the stairs, and then to the Ringo-House. Do not use MP here, because there are no beds, and you will need to be as strong as possible (a strategy I use is to go into the dungeon once to level up, return to town, heal, save, go back in for the villain, not fighting anyone on the way). Here you will face Bingo and Leach, the Ringo Brothers (though Leach looks like a girl to me). _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #5: Bingo & Leach | | | | Party: Ray, Tina | | | | Recommended Level: 14, 13 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Bingo and Leach can be found at the end of a long and annoying path inside of the Ringo House. First of all, to make this fight much easier, MAKE SURE TINA HAS FREEZE LEVEL 2!!! It will be a lot easier. First off, make sure Ray has a Mid Sword, and Tina has his Short Sword. Have Ray attack Leach and Tina use Freeze 2. Despite the looks, Leach needs to be killed first. He/she can use Heal and Fast, which can get annoying. So, while Tina casts Freeze 2 out the butthole, have Rat attack Leach. When Leach is dead, attack Bingo with Freeze 1 (no, Bingo is not the "big ol' beast" as mentioned in the section title. That will come into play later). When the pair die, you get a good amount of experience for your trouble (or not, if you had Freeze 2). *BUT, CVAGTS, WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE FREEZE 2???* Fear not, for I have a non-Freeze 2 strategy: Have Ray still attack Leach, but have Tina use Slow 1 and Freeze 1 on Leach. When Leach dies, use Freeze 1 and attack. Keep your HP above 40, and keep your head in the stars (oops, this is not a motivational speech). Also, if you don't have Freeze 2, make sure to use the Swap-Save trick (actually, I use the Swap-Save trick even if I DON'T need it). Advance the story as needed and get the Graviton from Dynamite. Go to the BIG house in Giant and find Baz to also find.... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #6: Golan (Jr.) | | | | Party: Ray, Tina | | | | Recommended Level: 15, 14 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Golan (Jr.) can be found in the BIG house in Giant, in the basement, when you try to open Baz's "cell." Watch out! Golan Jr. is arguably the hardest non-Homncruse, non-Homncruse great follower boss in the game. Make ABSOLUTELY sure you use the Save-Swap trick before fighting this beast. The first round, you should use the Graviton with your fastest person, and have the other either defend or attack. If Golan hits one of your people before he turns into Golan Jr., reset it! Golan Jr. is still pretty hard. Make sure you have a few Restores. Have Tina repeatedly cast Slow 1 until she has around 30-40 MP left. Save it for Heal. I don't remember when you get Heal 2, but if you can get it, get it! Have Ray use Fire 1 a few times, and then attack. If your HP drops to below 40, heal! Golan Jr. can sometimes hit a Critical Hit, which may knock out a weaker person. Use a Restore if this happens. Be patient, this is a long fight, so don't give up! Once you win, you get less experience from him than you did Bingo and Leach (AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!)!!! What a drag! ***6) What a Purty Lion!*** Advance the story as needed, meeting Garados, a Homncruse follower and circus ringmaster, and Cody, the third Aqutallion turned into a lion, until you meet Kaja, who needs a "Moustache." Not as facial hair, but to turn himself back to normal from being gold (yes, gold). So, guess who has to go rip it off of a mean-looking monster? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #7: Sidon | | | | Party: Ray, Tina | | | | Recommended Level: 16, 15 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Sidon can be found inside of Sidon Forest, which is south of Kaja's dump. Sidon Forest is difficult-looking to navigate, but once you get the hang of it, it's not TOO bad... Sidon is not really too hard of a boss. I don't remember too much about this fellow, except for the fact that he can hit both at once by creating bolts and blowing fire (AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! MY ***!!! SERIOUSLY, YOU GUYS!!!!). Use Slow 1 a few times along with Freeze 1 and Ray hits. Keep your HP above 40, and don't get too cocky, because Garados is coming soon, and he's tough! At any rate, you should stop in Bonzley before tangling with Garados. Buy the best stuff you can, and advance to Garados. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #8: Garados | | | | Party: Ray, Tina | | | | Recommended Level: 17, 16 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| L-l-l-let's get ready to rumblllllllle!!! (just felt like saying that) Garados can be found in a cave south of Bonzley. Use the Save-Swap trick for this fight. Garados can be easy or hard, depending on your luck. Garados uses attacks such as Snow Storm (up to 20 per person), attack (up to 30, can cause Sleep), Freeze 2 (up to 35 per person), Mute 2 (can stop magic for remainder of battle, get some items to counter this), and Evade 3 (confuses person). Basically, keep HP above 45, and have some items to stop Mute in case he uses it. Daze can wear off (from Evade 3), so unless you're getting pounded by Ray hitting Tina, fight it off. Have Tina cast Slow a few times and then use Freeze 1 and make her the primary healer. Ray should attack with Fire 2 until Tina uses about 4 Slows, then he should attack. Show no mercy, because he is the last hard boss you have to face for a while. Beat him, and you get a gold lion Cody, who will eventually be turned back to normal. *STORY NOTICE!!!* To help the readers out, take gold Cody to Kaja, who will use the Moustache. He then tells you to go to the south to the strange warrior, who will join Kustera when you have all five people. You do not need to do this, because he will tell you to go to Old Hill. After Kaja turns him into a lion, Fly By to Old Hill to get Cody. That's all. ***7) The (m)Ari(o) Brothers*** When you end up at Box Town (known for boxers, not boxes), buy 1 "Gloves" at the weapon shop. Sure, it's weak as crap, but equip it on Ray. Talk to Andy at the arena to FIGHT!!!!!!! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #9: Andy | | | | Party: Ray | | | | Recommended Level: 18 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Andy is found....DUH!!!! I just told you! The tent thing at Box Town with Gloves equipped on Ray. Okay, first, make sure you have bought a Riotgun at Decatas's "snooty rich place." At the beginning of the battle, select Item, select the Riotgun, and hit Equip. Voila!!! A boxer against a gunman!* *Note: CVagts does not recommend you take on a bare-fisted fighter with a gun. Guns are very, very wrong and should only be used in video games or in the hands of trained professionals . Guns are not toys (unless you find one in a package at Toys 'R Us with the words "Toy Gun" on it). Anyway, just attack, and keep your HP above 25. Then use Heal 2 (you BETTER have that by now). Congratulations! This is probably the easiest one-on-one fight in the game (other than Cat Boo, but come on, he was optional). As soon as you beat Andy, head south to Sleepers to face another Ari brother (by the way, I think I know what "Ari" means in English. It means, "weak boss").... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #10: Arthur | | | | Party: Ray, Tina, Cody, Leona | | | |Recommended Level: 18, 17, 11, 11| |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Arthur is found in Sleepers in a house wearing a white sheet. You can't miss him! Easy fight! Ray should attack or use Fire 2, Tina should use Freeze 1 or 2, Cody should attack, and Leona should use Bolt 1. Arthur can't do much to you, so keep HP above 40 (is there an echo-echo-echo in here-in here-in here?) and make sure Cody and Leona get the experience! It is very handy! ***8) The Big Bad Dram and the Two Orbs*** No bosses for a while, so level up in the desert south of Codo, and then you should advance the story (in a town in the middle of the desert called Lagoon, then head to Brasca to see it blow up) until you get down the well near Brasca to find..... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #11: Dram | | | | Party: R, T, C, L | | | |Recommended Level: 20, 19, 15, 15| |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| *Note: From now on, I will be omitting the "Party" section of the boss info. square thing because all of the party members will be in the fights, except for a few, but that is later. Dram is found after talking to the old guy in the house at the end of the cave, which can be reached by the well in the upper part of Brasca. AAAAHHHHHHHHH! Dram is the weakest of the great Homncruse followers in my opinion. He introduces a feature some enemies and bosses will possess later: the rapid attack. Two attacks in a row. He can do up to 60 damage with this. So, have Ray use attacks, Cody use Power 1 or 2, whatever he has, Tina uses Slow 2, and Leona uses Bolt 1. Cody should use about 3-4 Powers before attacking. The fight can be a bit long, but not hard. Keep everyone's HP above 60, and make sure to have everyone get the experience: it's good. Dan joins you after the fight, but Homncruse has the town blown up (Old Hill). "Oh, look, Old Hill's being bombed." "What do we care? WE are Aqutallions. WE don't need THEM."* *Note: CVagts does not suggest you allow your town to be bombed by airplanes, then leave it on a confidence power trip. So, anyway, talk to Mr. Dy-no-MITE to hear about a Goldnail, go to Bun's boss's house, look under the sandbag for it, talk to Jimmie Walker's best buddy again, and head northwest of Giant by ship to get to Edon (got to catch my breath). Talk to the mayor, go to Onsaka, and fight... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #12: Jubei | | | | Recommended Levels: | | | | 21, 20, 16, 16, 13 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Jubei can be found in the large house at the top of Onsaka, by taking the right door and talking to him after speaking to the mayor of Edon. Jubei can only attack you, but he can also hit Critical Hits, which may seriously injure/kill a party member. Not much to know: Ray uses Fire 2* and attacks, Tina uses Slow 2 and Freeze 1, Cody uses Power 1 or 2, Leona uses Bolt 1, and Dan uses Bomb 1. Use Heal 2 to heal anyone, and have some Restores handy. Keep your HP over 60. It may be a long fight, but you'll need experience for future bosses; they don't get too much easier. *Note: CVagts does not advocate the act of setting a samurai on fire (these messages are getting annoying, aren't they?). You'll get the Red Orb from the mayor once you talk to him, and you get Jubei, arguably the best Kustera in the game (best attacker, at least). Go south of where you found Shark by ship to find Moreeyes. There, you meet Murray, who will tell you to become Aqutallion before talking to him again. Time to find the Star Shrines and become Aqutallion (officially). Ray's: North, then east of Beegees. Tina's: West path of drawbridge that required the Win-Key. Cody's: Somewhere between Karappon and Codo (I don't remember). Leona's: In the snow (on a separate island completely in snow). ***Note: These are mini-bosses, so I will not use those little squares for each one.*** _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Ray's Boss: Fire Attacks: Fire 1, Fire 2, blow fire, attack Strategy: Attack (make sure you do over 1 damage!), use Heal 2 when HP is below 40. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Tina's Boss: Mermaid Attacks: Freeze 2, Fast 1, Slow 1, attack Strategy: Use Slow 2 a few times, then attack. If she uses Fast 1 on herself to the point where you do below 10 damage, use another Slow 2. If she uses Slow 1 on you a few times, use Fast 2. Heal when under 40 HP. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Cody's Boss(es): Cold Wind, Hot Wind Attacks: (CW: Storm 1, CW and HW work together <30 damage>, attack) (HW: Antpwr 1, attack) Strategy: Have a lot of Breads. Use Power 2 a few times, then attack. Attacks from CW and HW only do 1 damage, but CW and HW working together does about 30 damage, and Storm 1 can hurt up to 20 damage. Antpwr can hurt up to 15-20 damage, so keep your HP over 40-50, because Breads don't work too well. Eliminate whomever you want first, I killed CW, but my brother killed HW first. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Leona's Boss: Clay Attacks: Mirror 1 (at start), creates bolt, attack Strategy: Again, have some Breads. All you can really do is attack him and use a Bread when under around 35 HP. This is probably the toughest Star Shrine boss of them all. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ With Aqutallion reborn, you can combine spells (one combination per turn, Dan cannot combine). Here are some combinations. E-mail me if you find any more. Fire 1, Freeze 1 (pretty weak) Fire 1, Storm 1 (kind of decent) Storm 2, Freeze 2 (good against monsters in the water who attack in groups) Fire 3, Freeze 3, Storm 3, Bolt 3 (GREAT! Use in the final dungeon to kill some tough enemies for good experience. Not worth it against Homncruse, you'll see why later). Fire Sword, Fire 1 (AWESOME!!! Have the Fire Sword on Cody or Leona, I chose Cody because Leona's spells are useful against bosses, and Cody can use Power 2. The Fire Sword is almost mandatory to find (Booth's Castle, drop down ledge on the 2nd floor). Ice Sword, Ice 1 (not as good as Burn Blade (Fire Sword, Fire 1). Tina should be your primary healer, so stick with the Fire Sword as a combo, and the Ice Sword as a weapon. The Ice Sword is found after killing Godem.) Bolt Sword, Bolt 1 (another awesome combo! Use this whenever Ray gets the Metal Sword (very late in the game). Give Cody the Bolt Sword (Bio Godem's dungeon). _Very_ important against Homncruse.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Okay, with Aqutallion reborn, go back to Murray, who will tell you to get him the Gold-Moai (WHEN DOES THIS ERRAND-RUNNING END?!) from the cave north of Moreeyes (Easter Island). What he doesn't tell you is before you can get the Gold-Moai... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #13: Undead | | | | Recommended Levels: | | | | 22, 21, 18, 18, 15 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Undead can be found at the end of the path of the Ghost Cave. Okay, you cannot see Undead on your path, but you will see a narrow path after finding some treasures. Swap when on the narrow path, save, and go up to fight Undead. Undead can be easy, or hard, depending on what he uses. Here is a list of all of his attacks: -Rapid attack (around 60 damage) -Bolt 2 (70) -Mute 2 -Evade 3 -Storm 2 (around 40 each) Against me, he never used Mute or Evade, but my brother was not so lucky. Anyway, be ready against everything, and have the usual: Ray attack (save MP for healing), Tina use Slow 2 and heal, Cody use Power 2 and attack, Leona use Mirror 1 at the beginning, then Bolt 1, and Dan should use Bomb 1. Keep your HP above 70 so you can survive a Bolt 2 to heal. Give Murray his stupid statue, and he joins Kustera. With both orbs in tow, it's time to go to the lake slightly northeast of Shark's "house" to find... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #14: Clarken | | | | Levels: 22, 21, 18, 18, 15 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Clarken is found at the greenish island thing in the middle of the lake northeast of Shark's humble abode.* *Note: CVagts does not recommend you allow a shark to rest in your...ah, screw it. Clarken is easier than Undead IMO. Against me, at least, all he did was a Rapid Attack (60 damage) and fart (30 damage each). Anyway... Ray: Attack Tina: Slow 2 a few times, primary healer Cody: Power 2, attack Leona: Bolt 1 (good damage!) Dan: Bomb 1*, secondary healer Keep HP above 65, and don't get used to the music in this battle: this is the last time you may ever hear it in the game (sob). *Note: CVagts recommends you do not go out and bomb octopi. It is wrong. ***9) The Next Followers..BUM BUM BUM!!!*** A bunch of story stuff happens before the next boss. In short, you got to the Upper Land, you go to Alazina, south of Alazina is Booth's Castle, ***GET THE FIRE SWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!*** _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #15: Booth | | | | Levels: 24, 23, 20, 20, 17 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Booth is found on the 4th floor of Booth's Castle (DUH!!!! Who'd you expect, Uncle Save? "Hey guys, time to DIE!!!!"). ***USE THE SAVE/SWAP TRICK!!!*** Booth is the third toughest boss in the game IMO. He can hurt you big time with his ultimate attack, Bomb 2, which does 70...to all your people. This is the only attack you really need to know about. Strategy: Ray: Attack for first three or so turns, then use Fire 1 to combo with Cody. Tina: (Note: You will not need Slow 2 ever again. It does not work.) Use Fast 2 (3 if she has it), be the primary healer. Cody: Power 2 for first three turns, then attack (with Fire Sword equipped!) to combo with Ray. Leona: Mirror 1 first round (MUST do this! Have some Restores so she can revive!), use Bolt 1 or 2, whatever she has. Dan: Use Bomb 1, secondary healer. BTW, with Mirror 1 on, the only time Leona needs to be healed is when he attacks her. Keep your HP above 80 (yes, 80). With Booth gone, talk to Ash at Elekees to go up the waterfall. Go northeast in the water to Dengers to buy three Bunny Suits for the guys. DO NOT TALK TO THE NINJA!!! HE STEALS YOUR MONEY!!! Go to Amaboss, get caught, go in the cave in the big house's basement, and it leads you alllll the way to... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #16: Gara | | | | Levels: 25, 25, 24, 24, 22 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Gara is found at the top of Gara's Castle (don't get me started). Gara is probably the third hardest follower (only Dram is easier), but she can pound you with spells. Her attacks are fairly weak, but she can do Bolt 2 (70 to one), Storm 2 (40 to all), and Freeze 3 (65 to all). Yes, Freeze 3. So: Ray: Fire 1, baby! BURN BLADE!* *Note: CVagts does not recommended setting fire to beautiful girls. Tina: Fast 2 or 3, primary healer Cody: Attack! BURN BLADE! Leona: Mirror 1, Bolt 1 or 2, whatever you have. Dan: Bomb 1 or 2, secondary healer Keep your HP above 80 again, and be proud: you just killed a chick, YOU MONSTER!!!!! Anyway, some story crap happens, blah blah blah, blah blah blah, then you go to Brisben (I'm tired of writing half of a walkthrough with this boss guide, just e-mail me if you get stuck), and see it is blown up, go through the cave to.... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | Boss #17: Godem | | | | Levels: 27, 27, 26, 26, 24 | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| Godem is found at the end of a long path of a shrine at Brisben. Why is Godem so hard? As soon as he hits that first Bolt 3 on you, you'll find out. Godem has two attacks: the ordinary attack, which does about 30-50 damage, and Bolt 3, which does _100_ damage to ALL. Yes. You read right. One hundred damage. If you have a few Mirrors (items), use one. Strategy for this dragon guy: Ray: Fire 1. Burn Blade! Tina: Fast 3. Primary healer. Cody: Attack. Burn Blade! Leona: MIRROR 1. VERY IMPORTANT! Bolt 2. Dan: Bomb 2. Secondary healer. Don't be afraid to have Tina or Dan defend if you want to conserve their MP. Make sure to cast Fast 3 at least once, though. Keep your HP above 90 or so, maybe 100, if Dan has around 115-130 HP. Now, you killed all of the followers. What next? ***10) NOT THEM AGAIN!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!*** Okay, get the UFO flying with the Iridium, Eledium, Ultrium, Organium, and Aqutallium. Make sure you got the Elfinbow, Ice Sword, and Best Claw along with the Aqutallium after killing Godem. Anyway, go to Jeep Volcano (inside it, with the UFO), and find the five stars. They all have the revived followers. I could just cry, and you might too. Anyway, since I'm dog tired of those boss boxes, I shall not use them anymore (YAY!). Bio Dram is first. Boss #18: Bio Dram Levels: 28, 28, 27, 27, 25 Make sure you have: the Fire Sword, the Best Claw, the Ice Sword (as a weapon), and whatever Metal Armor, Helmet, and Boots you could afford. Bio Dram is not too much harder than Dram. He still has the one Rapid Attack, but it can do up to 80 damage this time. Basically, just do the following: Ray: Fire 1. Burn Blade will NEVER die (until Homncruse, at least)! Tina: Fast 3. Primary healer (AGAIN!). Cody: Attack. Repeat Burn Blade combo. Leona: No need for Mirrors. Use attacks (Best Claw has rapid attack, take THAT, you low-life trend setter!!!*) *Note: "Trend setter" is referring to the fact that Dram was the first person to ever use the rapid attack. Dan: Bomb 2. Secondary healer. Not too much harder than Dram, just more MP. Keep HP above 85-90, and don't give up! You're not too much farther from the end! Then it all comes crashing down. THEN you find, in the second star... Boss #19: Bio Booth (ARGH!!!) Levels: 28, 29, 27, 28, 26 Make sure: to use the Save-Swap trick. Above all, **DO NOT FORGET THE SAVE/SWAP TRICK!!!** Bio Booth is _very_ tough. His three main attacks are Fire 3 (90-100 damage on one), Bomb 2 (70 to all), and--brace yourself--Bomb 3 (100 to all). A- anyway... Ray: Burn Blade! Fire 1. Tina: Fast 3. Not too much, you may need Life 2 or whatever you have. Cody: Power 3 on himself, and attack. Burn Blade! Leona: MIRROR 1!!!!!!!! Bolt 2 and Best Claw are good. Dan: Bomb 2. Not too much. Secondary healer. Keep HP above 100 or so. Ouch. Don't be afraid to use a Moon Drop or two. The third star... Boss #20: Bio Gara Levels: 29, 29, 28, 28, 27 I tried Bio Gara for fun, and I beat her! She is hard, though. She has four spells that you need to be aware of. Bolt 2 (70 to one), Storm 2 (40 to all), Freeze 3 (60-65 to all), and Storm 3 (70-75 to all). Leona's Mirror 1 is important. Basically, use the same strategy as with Bio Booth. Burn Blade, conserve MP for healing, keep HP above 85 this time. Don't give up! The fourth star (thankfully)... Boss #21: Bio Godem (only 2 more after this. Yayyy!!!) Levels: 30, 30, 29, 29, 28 (BOO!!!) Again, Save-Swap. Bio Godem is basically the same as Godem, except for...the rapid attack. He can do up to 85 with this. Bolt 2 (70) and Bolt 3 (100 to all) have returned, so Mirror 1. GET THE BOLT SWORD!!! The Bolt Break combo (give Bolt Sword to Cody) is better than Burn Blade for one reason: if you have a Mirror, give it to Cody. Leona and Cody are safe from Bolt 3. You might need a Moon Drop. ***11) H-Homncruse? H-Help me..*** Boss #22: Homncruse (IMPOSSIBLE, it's an illusion, don't even try to try) After Homncruse wipes you out, go to the Aris Shrine (where you got David) and to the Red Fountain. Equip the Metal Sword and prepare like hell. Homncruse...is near! Justin (just_c_86@yahoo.com) sent in this Homncruse strategy: For one, have EVERYONE on level 35 to 40. Everyone should have all the Metal stuff from Old Hill. Try to save as many Moon Drops and Broken Moons as possible. It helps to have the Cure Cane and Bolt Sword in your inventory. They REALLY help. Have Ray (with the MetalSword) attack every round unless you are in desperate need of healing. Cody should always use Power 3 on Ray. Tina should use Fast 3 until she and Cody are faster than Homncruse, then use Fast 2 on Dan until he's faster. This takes awhile. If Tina has nothing to do, have her use the Bolt Sword as an item. Leona should use Mirror 1, then Mirror 3. If you need to heal everyone, have her use the Plumwater. (It's somewhere in the spiraling part before Homncruse.)Otherwise, have her use Bolt 3. When she's low on MP, drain some from Homncruse. If Dan has the MP, he should use Regain 1 every round. Homncruse has a tendency to use that Bomb 3 spell. The one thing that sucks about this boss, is he sometimes uses Land 3.This will wipe out ALL stat boosts you have done to your party. Last time I fought him though, he didn't ever use this. I guess it's kind of random. His regular attack doesn't hurt much if you have good defense. And he also creates bolt a lot. Homncruse has a LOT of HP, so just keep up this strategy, and you'll beat him! ***12) Kustera*** Did you get all 11 Kustera? Well, if you didn't, I have a list right here... David the warrior: You have to get him at the Aris Shrine. Ryu the ninja: At Beegees, in a house after you "scatt the Dogpill!" Ben the priest: Talk to the lady in the poor sect of Decatas about Ben, then go to the bar right outside the poor sect. Andy the fighter: You have to get him at Karappon. Arthur the witch: Same as Andy. Shark the warrior: West, then south of Bonzley, in a shrine-looking place. Jubei the samurai: You have to get him at Onsaka. Murray the wizard: You have to get him at Moreeyes. Evelyn the thief: In a house in Elekees. Kathy the archer: You have to get her at Amaboss. Beth the doctor: Same as Kathy. ***13) Top Ten Hardest Bosses*** Bosses are hard in Secret of the Stars. Which bosses, however, are the hardest? Here is my opinion of the top ten toughest bosses: #10: Golan Jr. Even when he was small, this "iddle widdle" tyke could pound you flat if you weren't ready. #9: Garados. Mute 2. Evade 3. Need I say more? Oh, yes. Freeze 2. #8: Undead. Like Garados, but with Bolt 2 and Storm 2. #7: Gara. That first Freeze 3 stung to high heaven. #6: Bio Gara. Seemed to use Storm 3 a bit too much. #5: Bio Godem. You were used to Godem, so you had levels when you fought him. He was _still_ hard as crap. #4: Godem. That first Bolt 3 made my jaw drop and realize I hadn't used Mirror yet. #3: Booth. Used Bomb 2 a bit too much. #2: Bio Booth. Used Bomb 2 _and_ 3 a bit too much. #1: Homncruse (final). Is there any doubt? I don't remember much about him, except that he uses Bomb 3. So, be ready. I'm at levels 32, 32, 31, 31, and 30 as I'm typing this and still going. Better to overprepare than underprepare. ***14) Unsolved Mysteries*** Okay, so a few of these are just curiosities, but some I really want to know. If anyone can provide me with answers, e-mail me, and I will recognize you in my next update! -Can you actually SHOP at the rebuilt Winds weapon shop? -If Homncruse is all-powerful, why didn't he kill the other Aqutallions before you even got to Old Hill? -How the hell does Uncle Save GET to all of these places before you do? -How can anyone be so stupid to buy a Plum Plum for 500 GP? -How did the Jeep Volcano eruption kill all of the people, but left the buildings in perfect condition? -How did Kaja turn himself to gold? -Why didn't Garados just break golden lion Cody with a hammer? -When Dram "kidnapped" Leona, why did he take her to another part of the EXACT SAME town? Why didn't he take her to Brasca and have it blown up? -Why do the Badmen wear purple clothing? If you can think of some more, e-mail me. ***15) E-Mail Address*** My e-mail address is cvagts_14@hotmail.com, but make sure to follow these instructions: -For top ten boss lists, put the subject, "Tecmo Top Ten" -For Unsolved Mysteries questions/answers, put the subject, "Tecmo Q&A" *-For a _good_ strategy for the final Homncruse and a list of attacks he does, put the subject, "Tecmo Homncruse."
