Pike's village is being attacked by goblins, and they are mercilessly slaying everyone. Pike's father desperately tries to protect his family, but the goblins kill both of Pike's parents. Pike is left to die by the goblins, but fortunately a harpy comes flying by and rescues both Pike and Cirrus, his father's magical sword. The scene fades and we jump forward in time ten years. Pike has grown up as an adopted brother to Laia. While some of the younger harpies ridicule Pike for not having wings, most of the village treats him as one of their own. All seems to be well. One evening, when Laia has prepared dinner, she send you out to find your adoptive brother, Folte, who is unusually late coming to eat. You then wander around the village meeting everyone there and finding hidden items. When you get back to Laia's tree, Folte is already there berating you for taking so long to come to dinner. Everyone sits down and Laia discovers there isn't any water. She asks you to go to the well and fetch some. When you get there, Cirrus reminds you that today is Laia's birthday and you should get something for her. As she is going on about what you should get, you draw the water from the well. Suddenly, several large dragons appear on the horizon, one swooping closer and closer to you. When it arrives, you see a dragon rider on its back, and the dragon rider asks you the name of this place. No matter your response, Laia arrives and demands for the dragon rider to leave. He laughs and says he will, just as soon as he takes the large crystal and deals with the two of you. Another dragon swoops in and grabs the crystal, and you and Laia are turned to stone. Cirrus says she won't let another of her masters die, and the screen flares white with her magic. You wake up in your bed in Laia's tree, and you hear Folte talking to someone downstairs. Apparently Laia has been turned to stone, and no one in the village has the power to counter the spell. When you go downstairs, they ask you to go find the priest who can reverse the spell. The old man gives you the Cotton Armor and a Small Shield. You are then charged with finding the priest and you leave the forest. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ ================================================================================ === THE GAME =================================================================== ================================================================================ INDEX Chapter Title ------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Let's Hear It for Strange Women! 2 Like, Totally Rescued 3 Bars, Dragons, and Propositions 4 We're Off to See the Wi...erm...Priest! 5 Invitation to a Stake Dinner... 6 Here There Be Dragonmen 7 Guys, Vixens, and Friendly Old Kings 8 Balan Out the King 9 The Birds and the Beasts 10 Just Deserts 11 Bazaar Liquids 12 Family Reunions --Intermission-- 13 Let's Hear It for Strange Women II 14 Mylius, Priest Ordinaire! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 1: Let's Hear It for Strange Women! ||=- Memory Crystals: southeast corner of the forest WHen you go outside the Harpy Forest, you'll be presented with the World Map. You can follow the coastline south, but there is nothing there. If you follow the coastline north, you will eventually come to a ruined town: Karnait. This is the town where your parents were killed. When you get near the center of town you will meet a Strange Man who greets you. Druing the course of talking to him, he tells you he's seeking something that was once in this town, something strange and special. He tells you that if you find anything like that to hold it close and he'll find you. Then he leaves. When you're doen searching around the ruins (there's at least one item to find), then leave and head north until you come to bridge. When you attempt to cross the bridge, an event will happen. You'll see a Pretty Girl attempting to cross the bridge and being menaced by two nasty-looking Weredogs. As she's backing away from them, she turns around and notices you. She praises your timing, explains that the monsters want to dine on her, and says she thinks you should take care of them while she runs away. She then wishes you good luck and pushes you toward them. You easily dispatch them, and finish the fight. It turns out the girl didn't run because she was mesmerized by your manly display of swordsmanship. Whatever... (9_9) She then introduces herself: Lulu Saliban. You notice she has well- developed eyebrows, so she explains that she's half beast and half human. She also has a sense of humor and carries a store around on her back. After you've bought whatever you want from her, she'll answer one of two questions (take your pick). She'll then mention the town of Gigarl just north of where you are now, and suggest that you go there. She then waves goodbye and leaves. Go ahead and head north again and you'll be back on the world map. If you wander east and then south along the river, you can have a few random encounters, but there's nothing else there. To the north is a large rock blocking the path between the two woods and to the northeast the path along the shoreline dead-ends. To the west is a dock on the river, and just north of the dock there's a cave entrance leading to the Mountain Pass. If you look in the river next to the dock, there are two bottles floating in the river. They contain letters from someone in distress. Enter the Mountain Pass. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 2: Like, Totally Rescued ||=- Oooo. Spooky music! The cave's fluourescent torches seem to be having problems. Walk northeast a bit and you'll come to a small bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path until you see a rounded pool on the bottom left of the screen. It will have something glowing it (barely visible, though). This water will restore your HP and MP to the max if you drink from the pool. There are other pools like this in the cave, and not all of them will heal you. So, drink at your own risk. Continue past the restorative pool and you'll eventually find a skeleton in a pool of blood. Just a little past the skeleton, you'll find a dead guy. On the floor are a lot of arrows. Along the wall north of the dead are three arrow cannons, but they don't seem to be working any more. Just past the arrow cannons is a wide open cavern. On the east side of the cavern is a passage leading to another pool of water. This one is a restorative pool. On the west side is a long passage leading to a dead end. The northwest passage leads to a small wooden door set in the side of the cave wall. Open it. On the other side you'll find two goblins guarding a small fairy in a prison cell. She's, like, very glad you came. ;-p Cirrus will warn you to be careful fighting the goblins, but I didn't think the fight was terribly difficult--I didn't even lose any HP. After you defeat the yucky-poo's, the totally grateful fairy will show you the totally hidden passage to the town of Gigarl. Go through the passage and you'll come to another fork: one leading west and the other leading south. Take either one because they loop back together. They eventually lead to the exit from the cave and you'll be back on the world map. If you wander south a bit, you'll find yourself on the other side of the big rock you found before. To the north is the town of Gigarl, and just to the east of theat is a Cottage. No one is at the Cottage, so go to Gigarl. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 3: Bars, Dragons, and Propositions ||=- Gigarl ============================ Inn: 10GP/Night GP Description ---- ----------- Items: 8 Mint 6 Calm Herb Weapons: 22 Short Sword 36 Long Sword 44 Darts 18 Cotton Armor 46 Singer's Dress 13 Large Shield The Memory Crystal is in the northeast corner of the town, in case you want to save. There's also a Power Crystal just south of the Memory Crystal, next to the Item Shop. There's an old guy (with yellow hair) in the middle of town who will give you information if you give him a little gold. He doesn't charge that much per fact, so go ahead. I'm sure they are useful facts... ;-) Feel free to upgrade Pike's equipment at the Weapon Shop, and be sure to equip anything you buy! Then go visit the bar once you've talked to everyone in town outside of the bar. What jazzy music! After you talk to everyone in the bar, approach the stairs to the stage and Eka will come out and give a silent performance. Cirrus comments on your drool after the performance, and everyone seems to have enjoyed it (Eka's performance, not your drool). When you're done chatting with Cirrus and all the bar patrons, head back outside the bar. Cirrus will comment that it seems too quiet outside. Wander over to the Memory Crystal and save, then wander straight south (on the east side of the building) to where the Power Crystal is...or was. It's not there anymore! Wander toward the center of town and you'll meet up with Belnard again (he's the guy who stoned you and Laia before). You're given the options of either confronting the creepy nard or running away. If you choose to run away, Cirrus will reason with you to get you to go back and confront Belnard. When you confront Belnard, you get to take jabs at his magical prowess, and he goes into some sort of trance. Then you try to confront him by either running at him while yelling or sneaking up on him. Either way, someone to the west of you throws something at Belnard, breaking his trance. It's Eka! She haughtily confronts Belnard, and he dismisses her as nothing. Then Eka goes through a transformation in front of Pike (who is a bit surprised by it all), and Belnard threatens to make both of you suffer. He casts a powerful flame bombardment spell at you and Eka suggests you run. Belnard easily keeps up with you and slams you with another one. Suddenly, smoke bombs burst all around you and Belnard can't see you anymore. Then Lulu walks in and pushes you out of the way, all the while complaining about how crazy you are. If you still insist on fighting Belnard, Lulu will help you get the dragon out of the way so you can have a better chance against Belnard. She also says she'll seal his magic so he can't use it. After you do around 200-220 damage (that's how much damage I did), the fight scene will vanish, and a red dragon will swoop in to pick up Belnard. Safe on the dragon, Belnard proceeds to taunt you about his plans for the next time you meet, using typical Evil Overlord(tm) phrases. After Belnard leaves, you find out that Lulu didn't really seal his magic--she was just bluffing and everyone believed her. She bids you farewall, and suggests that you better buy plenty of goods from her the next time you meet her as payment for her helping you out. :-) Eka then proposes she join you in your little quest, and takes you to her cottage. When you get there, she asks if Cirrus can really talk, and then takes you inside to feast on "Crazy Chicken" (El Pollo Loco). If you try to go into the back room, Eka gets upset at you. (^o^) After dinner, you share stories with each other and Eka propositions you. Not the way you're thinking though, you dirty-minded walkthrough reader! She proposes you travel together to Solace to talk to Koras, the head priest there, about Laia. After changing into fresh traveling clothes, Eka joins your party. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 4: We're Off to See the Wi...erm...Priest! ||=- Chestoria ============================ Memory Crystal: east of main entrance to Chestoria Inn: 16GP/Night GP Description ---- ----------- Items: 8 Mint 6 Calm Herb 16 Gag Weapons: 46 Scimitar 44 Darts 48 Leather Armor 46 Singer's Dress 13 Large Shield Directly west from Eka's House, past Gigarl and the entrance to the Mountain Pass, is Chestoria, a very large city. Even the music makes it sound big. Just inside the city gate and to the east is a Memory Crystal. When you're done exploring this part of town (and stocking up on any items or equipment you need), head north and go through the gate on the north side of the center square. This will take you to the Castle of Chestoria. When you get inside the castle (through the main door and then through the entryway), you can go to the east and then south down into the Dungeon. Nothing there right now, but since you're invading everyone else's privacy, why not? Wander around bugging the maids and guards until you've visited everyone in the castle you want to see, then go talk to the Queen. She's in a real mood, so you'll have to leave. Don't forget to raid the four big chests before you leave. They have some really nice items. Then leave Chestoria. There's nothing north of the city, so head south. You'll eventually come to a bridge across a river. If you continue south instead of crossing the river, you'll just have a bunch of random encounters since there is nothing else down there. Cross the bridge, go northwest, and you'll be in Solace. Solace ============================ Memory Crystal: east of main entrance to Chestoria Inn: 16GP/Night GP Description ---- ----------- Items: 8 Mint 10 Grizzle Fang 6 Calm Herb 12 Banshee Tear 16 Gag 70 Magic Shield Weapons: 54 Cutlass 50 Wolf's Nail 62 Hard Leather 13 Large Shield 40 Turtle Shell There will be a short computer-controlled diddy, and then you'll need to find the Sanctuary. Wander around town first and talk to everyone, then head into the sanctuary. There you meet Myia and Emily, the two female priests taking care of the temple while Leos is away. When you ask to see Koras, they sadly inform you that Koras passed away some time back while protecting Solace from a great evil. Just then, Leos, the daughter of Koras and the current Head Priest of the Sanctuary, arrives. You tell her your story and she informs you that there is nothing she can do to help Laia. She then leads you to a room full of stoned people. She explains that she's tried everything she knows to reverse the spell, but to no avail. She even enlisted the help of another powerful magic priest, Kynis, but he was unable to do it either. Just as you're asking who this Kynis is, he comes into the room with good news: he's found someone who can help reverse the spell. Some guy named Guy, who is rumored to be a descendant of the legendary Albert, may be able to help. He lives in the town of Gadel. Kynis then asks who you are, and you explain your plight to him. He asks if you want to join him and Leos on their journey to find Guy, but Myia and Emily insist that all of you rest first. Leos takes you to your rooms and you retire for the night. During the night, Laia appears in your room and asks for you to come to her. It turns out you're only dreaming, and it's actually Eka coming in to wake you up in the morning. After a brief conversation, you notice sounds coming from outside the Sanctuary. When you get down to the main room, Emily and Myia tell you that Solace is in great danger. Apparently many of the people have been turned into Memnochs, or half-undead vampires. Leos and Kynis are outside fighting them, so you go out to help. It's partly cloudy on the ground! Head down into Solace and join the fray! You can wander around a bit or head straight for the center of town where you'll run into Leos and Kynis. They've been trying to find the vampire responsible for all of this so they can free the Memnochs. Then they spot him jumping across several buildings and chase him down. It's Valerian, the vampire vanquished by Koras 12 years earlier, and he's not in a good mood. He tells you to come to his castle and then flys away as a bat. After Valerian leaves, Karsha, a friend of Kynis, comes up to him and bites him, turning Kynis into a memnoch. Before the vampire power takes hold, Kynis asks you and Eka to accompany Leos to Valerian's castle so he can be defeated once and for all. This is the only way to free the townspleople of Solace from their awful doom. Kynis says he'll fight the Memnochs for as long as he can--until he, too, transforms. As he runs off into the night, Leos tells you that Valerian's castle is southwest of Solace. Then Leos joins your party. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 5: Invitation to a Stake Dinner... ||=- Memory Crystal: third floor next to stairs to fourth floor The screen goes black, and then you're in front of Valerian's castle--not a very friendly-looking place. I suggest you equip Leos with one of your extra "Etc." items--she doesn't have one herself. I'm not going to walk you through every single hallway in this castle, though I will tell you a few things. Just wander around a bit on each floor and see what you can find. On the first floor there are at least two items to be found, as well as Valerian's coffin, though he's not in it. On the second floor are two rooms with two chests each. On the third floor, go all the way to the west and down to the first floor for a Magic Shield. Then go back up to the third floor and through the door on the on the north side of the east-west hallway. If you drink the water here your HP and MP will be completely restored. Then go back out into the hallway and into the hallway across and to the west of the doorway. At the end of that hallway you'll find a Memory Crystal and a set of stairs ascending to the fourth floor. When you're done saving, head up to the fourth floor. Follow the red carpet to the doors and go on through. Here you'll find Valerian, sitting on the throne on the dais. He's terribly impressed with your ability to make it this far, and even says that Koras would be impressed, too. He even explains how he was freed from his eternal prison. After bantering back and forth, you enter the first big boss fight. BOSS: Valerian HP: 1078-1275 EX: 288 GP: 40 Notes: Physical attacks don't work very well at first, Aqua Lance works really well, and Malitov Cocktail works fairly well During the fight, I had Pike and Eka attacking (Pike with his sword and Eka using Aqua Lance), and Leos alternating between healing people and using Malitov Cocktail. This worked really well, and the fight wasn't too hard. After the fight, Eka congratulates Leos and tells her she can go back to Kynis and the others now that they are free of Valerian's spell. Leos isn't so sure about that, though--she thinks Kynis probably died fighting all the Memnochs. You then head back to Solace. Emily and Myia great you at the entrance to the Sanctuary grounds. They are very excited to see Leos alive and well. Myia then winks at Leos and asks her if she's forgetting about someone. Emily goes behind Leos and starts pushing her toward the Sanctuary, and you and Eka follow. Kynis is waiting inside, and Leos rushes to embrace him, much to the embarrassment of Pike and Eka. After Leos and Kynis finish their session, Leos tells you the next step is to go to Gadel and find Guy, and she will be going with you. Kynis won't be coming, though. He'll stay behind to keep Myia and Emily in shape. You can then leave the Sanctuary. When you finally leave Solace, you'll encounter a hurt man. It's a Dragonman! He tells you that he is seeking Leos' help to save his entire race--they are all dying from some mysterious illness. He then dies. Save your game and then head out to the World Map again. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 6: Here There Be Dragonmen ||=- Memory Crystal: just inside the Dragonmen clan leader's room. Head southwest past Valerian's castle, south to the bridge, and then accross to the other side. If you go northwest you will find the city of Gadel. Go south and then west into the forest to the Dragon Shrine Entrance. There's a statue of Malduke, the god of the Dragonmen, just outside the entrance to the cave. When you enter, you are told you should leave immediately due to the curse that has befallen the Dragonmen. Then he recognizes Leos and asks you to wait and help them. Leos then discovers that it's the well water that is causing them to fall ill--the well water has been poisoned! You are taken to their leader, Grak, who shows you to the infirmary where all the sick Dragonmen are resting. Leos makes an elixir to give to them, and you and Eka help give it to the sick Dragonmen. She then instructs Grak to put the rest of the elixir into the water supply to cleanse it. In gratitude, Grak offers you a priceless natural art collection, but Leos politely declines. Once you're done wandering through all the caves, head back outside. As soon as you get outside, you are buzzed by a dragon a few times. Then a mysterious woman approaches and asks why a Dragonman is still alive, since she poisoned their well water. She gets really upset when she finds out Leos cured all of them, and that you're the ones who attacked Belnard back in Gigarl. You ask if she's a member of Radoria's forces, and she tells you she is Rachessa, and that you will pay for all the trouble you've caused. BOSS: Rachessa HP: 1509-1575 EX: 322 GP: 0 Notes: Physical attacks work the best, spells and breath weapons do minimal damage. After you win, she curses the lot of you. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, she fades into nothing. Leos then insists that you hurry to Gadel. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 7: Guys, Vixens, and Friendly Old Kings ||=- Gadel ============================ Memory Crystal: just northwest of the entrance to town Inn: 20GP/Night GP Description ---- ----------- Items: 8 Mint 40 Spearmint 10 Grizzle Fang 6 Calm Herb 12 Banshee Tear 20 Warp Wing 65 Rations Kit Weapons: 66 Broad Sword 63 Ninja Stars 90 Eagle Dagger 70 Ring Mail 68 Sacred Robe 44 Kite Shield 40 Turtle Shell Leave the Dragon Shrine and head north, then west to Gadel. When you get there, Eka comments on the lack of greeters in the town. Then Leos notices someone coming toward you: it's Mohawk Man! He proclaims how great he is and demands that you get out of the way, so you do. When he's gone, the people of Gadel suddenly appear. Be sure to talk to all of them. One thing you learn is Mohawk Man's real name: Balan. Just to the west of the Item Shop is an alleyway leading to an empty house. The top floor has a bunch of goodies to claim, so don't miss it! Once you're done wandering around town head to the north end of town and you'll be accosted by Chad, a captain in the Knights of Gadel. He thinks you're some of Balan's bandits. Chad's men, as well as Decimus, the leader of the Knights, convince him otherwise. Decimus then asks if you'd like to be his guests at the castle. When you get to the castle, he tells you that he needs to inform the king of your presence, so he'll go on ahead. You're free to explore the castle. In the room just west of the entrance to the king's bedroom you'll find Guy, Varetta, and Ceramis. You tell Guy your story and he swears to defeat Radoria in order to save Laia and the rest of the stoners. You offer to help him, but Varetta says you're too young and would only hold them back. Guy then goes to talk to the king, and Leos says you should go and try to convince Guy that you will help him. Go back down to the second floor of the castle to the double doors at the north end of the yellow-brick floor (the ones you couldn't enter before) and go in. Follow the red carpet to the next door and the computer will take over, leading you up to the foot of the king's throne. Guy is there. Guy tells you that you should be here, but the king stops him. The king then explains his plight (Balan has been a very bad boy, etc.), and asks if you will help Guy defeat Balan and his band of merry thieves. He also introduces the Silver Vixens, a trio of mercenaries who will help you (or you'll be helping _them_, anyway...). They aren't too excited about being helped by a bunch of kids, and two of them leave quickly. Seta tells you to meet them at the fort, then hurries off. Guy wishes you luck and leaves. Then it's your turn to leave. Go ahead and buy anything else you need, save your game, and then head out of town. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 8: Balan Out the King ||=- Head south from Gadel. If you go all the way southeast of Gadel, you'll find a cave with no one in it, thoug it looks like someone might have lived there at one time. You can collect a few items there, though. All the way southeast is a bridge leading to a small island, but there is nothing on the island. The bandit fort is inside a maze of forest just north of this bridge. When you arrive there, you'll meet Decimus, Chad, and the Silver Vixens. Guy has already started an insulting distraction attack, and you're given your attack orders. When you get to the east entrance, two bandit guards jump down and attack you. Go ahead and defeat them (they are easy) and enter the fort. Turn west and follow the pathway around to the next entrance. Here you'll find a door with three prisoners behind it, so you rescue them. Then go up the stairs back in the main room. A little farther in you find three more hostages, but Kris is just releasing them. You have the opportunity to either tell Kris that Guy is worried about her or to insult her. Continue through the fort and you'll come to a large open area. To the west is another door. Inside you'll find two cells: in the west cell you'll find Aimy releasing more hostages. In the east cell you'll find several large treasure chests. Back outside and to the the northwest you'll find two long alleys: the west one is a dead end, and the east one leads to another door. Inside you'll find two cells: in the east one you'll find Seti freeing some hostages. If you want her to, she'll heal all of you. In the west cell, you'll find a bunch of treasure chests. Now go up the stairs to the west. When you get up to the roof, go all the way south to find some pots with items in them. Now follow the roof all the way to the east and go down the stairs. You'll find some hostages to release. Go back up the stairs to the roof Cirrus will tell you she senses some powerful magic on the north side of the fort. Now head to the center area of the roof and go up the stairs. When you get to the top, you'll notice the Silver Vixens trying to open a door, but it won't budge for them. Finally, Seta opens it using magic, and they head inside. Go ahead and follow them inside. Kris is questioning someone: it's a woman named Novia. She tells you that you have a lot of potential, and then teleports away. You finish freeing the hostages and the three Silver Vixens leave. Before you leave, don't forget the two treasure chests. When you go outside, the Silver Vixens are there, and you're surrounded by Punk Thugs. Balan is there, too, laughing at how easily you fell into his trap. He challenges all of you, and the Silver Vixens step forward to attack. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning strikes, knocking the Silver Vixens to the ground. Novia then appears next to Balan, and tells him to attack you, and he agrees. Ready to fight? BOSS: Balan HP: n/a EX: 0 GP: 0 Notes: n/a This is a one-on-one fight: you against Balan. Lightning works pretty well against him, as does just attacking him. After you do about 400-450 points of damage to him, the fight ends and Balan taunts you. Suddenly, Cirrus rises up out of your pack and transforms into large magical sword, and the fight continues. BOSS: Balan HP: 757 (counting the previous damage you did) EX: 690 GP: 0 Notes: n/a All the thieves freak out and run away like little girls, and your party congratulates you. Novia congratulates you as well, and says she looks forward to seeing you again. She then teleports both Balan and herself away. Eka checks on the Silver Vixens--other than a little wounded pride, they're okay. They congratulate you on beating Balan--it seems they underestimated your abilities (sounds about normal for a typical RPG, eh?). Then everyone heads back downstairs to the front of the fort to meet up with Guy and the Knights of Gadel. They congratulate you on your victory (are you sick of being congratulated yet?) as well, and instruct you and the Silver Vixens to return to Gadel and report to the king. They are off to find the Floating Castle and defeat Radoria. Back in Gadel, Eka complains about all these "chance meetings" you keep having. Leos and the Silver Vixens then head off to see the king. You, Eka, and Gryzz start walking toward the center of town only to run into Belnard. He's here to take revenge for the death of Rachessa. Belnard throws some hefty magic your way and kills you and all your friends. However, Cirrus intervenes and saves you. Belnard comes after you again and this time a strange man intervenes, telling Belnard he will not be able to hurt you. His name is Estan, and he proceeds to disintigrate the dragon and to send Belnard packing. Estan reminds you that you've met before, back when you visited your ruined village. Estan tells you he's a Magic Master, and he's been around for a long time. He's still searching for an item that could decide the fate of the world, but the item keeps doing more than it should: Cirrus. Estan tells you to take care of Cirrus, and it will continue to protect you. He then leaves. Your companions suggest you go tell all these happenings to the king, so all of you head there and Leos tells the story. After a long talk with the king, he asks you to join in the fight against Radoria. He tells you that you can take anything you want (except his pillows) from within the castle. He tells you that Guy and the rest of the Knights have gone ahead to the town of Bugdoniel, and to get there you need to go southwest to Tomari and hire a ship to take you to Oasis. Before you leave the castle, make sure you visit those doors you couldn't enter before--there's some nice items behind them. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 9: The Birds and the Beasts ||=- Go south to that island mentioned in the last chapter and head into the indent in the forest--looks like there is something here after all! Weran is the town of the Birdmen, and rumors are flying about impending war with the Beastmen. The townspeople are divided, though, on whether or not they actually want to fight the Beastmen. Apparently the Beastmen have been randomly attacking Birdmen when they are alone. None of the Birdmen can really describe their attackers, either. Hmmm...sounds a little fishy, eh? If you go up to the fourth level of the town, you'll see a little sequence where a Handsome Birdman will fly down out of the sky and make some comments about the war rumors. Eka is impressed by his...confidence. When you're done wandering around town, leave by going north on the path next to Chad and then go north across the bridge to the town of Tomari. Everyone sees war as inevitable, but not everyone agrees that war is a good idea. Again, there have been rqandom attacks on Beastmen when they were alone, and no one seems absolutely sure it was Birdmen who did the attacking. When you exit the house of the village chief, you see a strange-looking Beastman wandering around and you decide to tail him. You see the odd Beastman find a quiet corner of town and change into one of Radoria's baddies. Looks like Radoria is trying to get the two normally-peaceful towns to fight each other. What to do? You tail him to Weran and see him turn into a Birdman. As you walk up to him, the Necromancer tells you that you'll pay for being so nosey, and you are swept into a fight: BOSS: Necromancer HP: 782 EX: 300 GP: 116 Notes: n/a Chad congratulates you on your detective work, and for saving his behind, and the scene changes to the center of town in Weran. The Senior Birdman thanks you for your help, as does the Senior Beastman. Chad asks for their help in the fight against Radoria, but they are unable to spare any troops. As the meeting is ending, the Handsome Birdman you saw before interrupts the meal preparations: meet Amon. The Senior Birdman isn't happy with Amon for sticking his beak where it isn't wanted, but Amon persists. The Senior Birdman kicks Amon out of the Birdman military, so Amon joins your party. Chad then leaves for Tomari to hire a ship and requests that you meet him there. When you're done wandering around, you'll find Chad in Tomari at the General's house. Talk to either Chad or the General to get on the ship. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 10: Just Deserts ||=- When you arrive, Chad tells you he'll go ahead to Bugdoniel, and you can get there by going over the mountain pass. He then leaves and your party leaves the ship. You now find yourself in the Desert Mountains. There's a Memory Crystal in the northeast corner of the area. After you cross the bridge near the Memory Crystal, you find a recently killed dragon. Eka thinks it's a bit gross and wonders where it came from. Then you hear something to the north of the dead dragon, and you go off to investigate. It looks like Estan has his hands full battling a whole bunch of dragons. Belnard comes down to taunt Estan, and then gets surprised when he sees your party. Estan warns you to leave, but Belnard says that all of you will die here and now, together. Eka throws out some insults at Belnard and Estan again warns you that you can't win this fight--then he has an idea. There's a sudden flash of light and Estan tells you to make good use of his sacrifice. Belnard, knowing what Estan is about to do, commands all his troops to beat it, but only Belnard makes it away as Estan disintigrates all the other troops. Estan then collapses on the ground and Belnard swoops by and knocks his body off the cliff. After an exchange of pleasantries with Belnard, you are swept into battle with him again. BOSS: Belnard HP: 2544 EX: 432 GP: 50 Notes: most magic doesn't do much, physical attacks work best. A defeated Belnard tells you that, even though you defeated him, Radoria will not be beaten so easily. Then the ledge suddenly collapses under Belnard, taking his body with it. Then everyone launches into spirited patriotic posturing and you're returned to the normal detail map. If you try to go back up where you fought with Belnard, you will be told it is too dangerous to go that way. Upon further inspection of the area around there, you find a path south of the dead dragon, so head that way and you'll find the exit from this area. If you wander to the northwest, you will find a fortress surrounded by a force field of some kind. You can't get through it at this time, so head southeast of the fortress to the middle of the desert. When you're all done equipping anything new you got, be sure to save and then go talk to Decimus and Chad. Then head inside the tent and talk to Ceramis, Varetta, and Guy. They explain the plan for attacking Radoria's floating castle. Ceramis then gives you 700 gold. Go spend the additional gold you were given and then go to the inn. The proprietor lets you stay for free, and after a brief humorous scene involving Amon everyone goes to sleep. Partwway through the night, Eka wakes you to give you bad news: Leos is very sick! Just then, Ceramis comes in to tell you the time to attack has arrived. As you are wondering how to handle both responsibilities, in comes your favorite greedy traveling bazaar: Lulu. She tells you she'll cure Leos if you give her all your gold. After the exchange is made, she gives Leos a strange liquid and leaves. A short time later Leos wakes up feeling much better, and you leave to the Floating Castle. ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 12: Family Reunions ||=- When you arrive, the castle begins its ascent and the order is given to attack. Many soldiers fall to their deaths, Pike almost joining them, but Amon swoops down and saves our swiftly falling hero. Together again, our heroes follow Guy, Varetta, and Ceramis and enter the castle. As they enter the courtyard three Iron Dragons charge forward to attack, but the ancient threesome makes short work of them. The three continue into the main castle, and your party follows. When you arrive inside you can't find the threesome anywhere, so you start looking around. Suddenly another Iron Dragon attacks! BOSS: Iron Dragon HP: 1003 EX: 403 GP: 40 Notes: n/a The Iron Dragon is fairly easy to beat. Just keep your party healed and you shouldn't have a problem. Once you're done with it, go north and through the door. In the next room, you'll see (from west to east) a doorway, a set of stairs, another doorway, another set of stairs, and another doorway. Through the center doorway is a Healing Pool and a Memory Crystal, so feel free to use those if you need to. If you go up either set of stairs, you will find a large door that is locked. There must be some way of unlocking it... First, go through the west doorway and follow the stairs all the way to the top (five flights of stairs). At the top you'll find a flashing red button, so of course you must press it! Head back down to the main room and go through the east doorway. you'll find a treasure chest immediately inside, and a set of stairs to the northwest. Collect the treasure and leave. If you go up the stairs, following the path around through the doorway at the southeast you'll eventually find two more flashing red buttons. These seem to undo what the other flashing red button did, so don't press either of them. There's nothing else here. Heal at the pool and save your game if you wish, then go up either set of stairs in the main room and through the large doorway there. To the west, on the north side of the hallway is a room with a treasure chest. On the south side is doorway leading (eventually) to another treasure chest. Go back to where you entered and head north until the next branch, where you turn west and enter the room on the north. There are two treasure chests here. Go back to the hallway and continue north to the next branch. Directly north is a double door, and to the west is another room, though this one is empty. When you go through the double door, you'll be in a room with a set of stairs and a doorway just to the west of the stairs. Enter the doorway to find another treasure chest. Up the stairs you'll find another set of stairs that takes you to a short hallway. Go through the next doorway and you'll be in an east-west hallway where you can watch the clouds fly by. There are doorways at either end of this hallway. Go through the one to the east. Follow the passageway until it branches to the west and you'll find a locked blue door. Just to the southeast of that door is an open doorway, so go ahead and enter. Inside you'll find another flashing red button (sure are a lot of them here!), so activate it, then exit the room. When you try the blue door this time, it will open, and inside you'll find several treasure chests. Go back to the hallway and go through the west door. The first branch you come to leads to a small room, but there is nothing there for you. When the hallway turns east, the doorway to the north leads to a room with a treasure chest. Just to the northeast of that room is another doorway, so enter there. Inside you'll find some stairs. Go up the stairs, and go west, then south to the next doorway. Here you'll find another set of stairs leading to another blue door, but this one isn't locked. Inside this next room is a Healing Pool and a Memory Crystal. Make sure you've equipped all the new weapons and armor you've found here in the castle, and then go through the final door to meet Radoria. As you enter the room the computer will take over and you'll notice Guy, Varetta, Ceramis, and a knight trapped inside some crystals along the walls. You continue past them to a round platform near Radoria's throne. There are several large power crystals being used to keep the castle afloat. As you admire the scenery, the music changes and Radoria makes his grand entrance. He looks just like Estan! He welcomes you to your execution, and launches into a typical "Evil Overlord" speech about how weak you and your friends are. He explains how displeased he is with your victories over his underlings, and that he won't otlerate you being around anymore. He then fires a small, glowing blue-white sphere of energy at you, and your whole party is frozen (and spinning in place for some odd reason). Radoria asks which of you wants to die first, and Estan suddenly appears between you and Radoria. Apparently he wasn't so dead after all! You learn that Estan and Radoria are brothers, though they chose much different paths in life. Radoria scoffs at Estan for bringing your party into their 'little' family spat, telling him it won't make any difference since their sister isn't around. She's the only one with the power to do aanything about Radoria. Then Estan and Radoria rise toward the ceiling, and begin circling the throne while continuing their discussion of whether or not Estan can stop Radoria. Then they ram into each other and there's a blinding flash of light. When this happens, your group finds they can move again, and they start looking around for Estan--he's gone! Radoria gloats for a minute, when Estan suddenly appears again and summons the Holy Sword. A shining Cirrus rises out of your pack and floats in the air toward Estan. Estan then gives his life to allow Cirrus to transform into regular sword (just like last time). This throws Radoria for a loop, and Cirrus explains that this time she'll finish the work she should have done years ago. After a narrative conversation, you are launched into a battle with Radoria: BOSS: Radoria HP: 4817 EX: 1150 GP: 0 Notes: just keep healing your characters and use normal attacks Radoria isn't really difficult, though he takes longer than any of your previous fights. He has almost twice as many HP as Belnard. When the fight is over, Radoria tells you that you can't beat him because of the power of the Power Crystals. Cirrus then sacrifices herself to destroy Radoria once and for all. After Radoria dissappears in a blinding flash of light (wow! two in one fight!), Eka mourns the loss of Cirrus. But it seems Cirrus isn't destroyed that easily--the dagger form of Cirrus appears on the floor in front of Radoria's throne, and then disappears as a vision of the human Cirrus appears and fades. Cirrus promises Pike that they will meet again someday, and to not let his grief get the better of him. Suddenly, the castle begins to shake and rumble--it seems that Radoria's power was holding the place together, and everything is falling apart now that he's gone. Everyone rushes off to rescue the others before the castle falls out of the sky. As everyone wonders how they will get out of the castle, Varetta teleports the group to safety. As the group watches from the shore, Radoria's castle crumbles into the sea. When everyone arrives back at the castle in Gadel, the king thanks you for all your help, and tells you they are eternally in your debt. You leave the castle with everyone saluting you for your bravery. When you get back into town, Leos, Gryzz, and Amon bid you and Eka farewell, as well as wishing the two of you 'good luck' on your future 'music-making' together. (^_-) Back home in the Harpy Forest, your arrival causes quite a stir. Everyone gathers in the center of town to congratulate you. Then everyone turns and watches as Laia comes to greet you. Things get even more sappy as two harpies fly overhead tossing flower blossoms... The End ...NOT! ================================================================================ -=|| Intermission ||=- Someone trying to sound like a really old man explains what just happened, and how everything is peaceful again. Pike and company became 'Heroes of the Day' for a little while, and they even got nifty cheap gifts to prove it. Then one day, when they had broken the last of the dollar-store thank-you's, things changed... ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 13: Let's Hear It for Strange Women II ||=- Save your game as prompted, and your sweetums honey-pie will ask you to get the door. You do, and are bowled over by a bouncy young thing with lavendar hair. She introduces herself as Kia, the grand-daughter of the crotchety old heroine Varetta. Apparently Varetta is in need of some help and you must come right now (before you even finish dinner!). Then Amon and Gryzz walk in, and explain that it's really important. Kia is in such a hurry that she grabs you and starts draggin you out the door. Eka's not too happy about that and insists that Kia explain what's going on. Kia says that will waste time they don't have, and this makes Eka little teed-off. Off to a great start! Kia tells you that Eka doesn't really need to know, Gryzz and Amon insist. So, Kia spills the beans: Varetta, Guy, and Ceramis are all missing and no one knows where they went. after some discussion, everyone agrees to go to Gadal and ask the king for more information. Kia get's all excited to go again and drags you out the door. Everyone else follows Kia to the well and before anyone knows what's happening, Kia teleports everyone to downtown Gadel. Eka and Pike land a little wrong and after they orient themselves a bit, Kia grabs Pike and heads off dragging him toward the castle. Wehn you arrive the king fills you in on what he knows. Apparently Guy, Varetta, and Ceramis were off on a mission looking for some info when they suddenly disappeared without a trace. The king also informs oyou that ssomeone who was thought to be dead is actually alive: Balan is back! The three heroes were investigating information in the town of Agnus a couple weeks previously, and the king thinks they might have been killed by Balan or some of his cronies. Kia and Eka disagree, saying that they're probably just tied up somewhere else. The king says he hopes the two are correct, but he still wants to send out your party to try to find the three heroes and investigate the Balan rumors. The king tells you to leave on your quest at once, and to start by going to Agnus and contacting a priest names Mylius. Eka asks the king for directions, but Kia intervenes and zaps the whole party to Agnus--it's her hometown, so she knows exactly where it is. At this point, Kia becomes an official member of your party (replacing Leos). ================================================================================ -=|| Chapter 14: Mylius, Priest Ordinaire! ||=- Eka complains loudly about Kia's sudden use of the teleport spell again, but Kia just ignores her and then drags Pike into the sanctuary. There you meet Mylius Factoria, Leos' uncle. The first thing you'll notice is that he's a bit kooky at times. He tells you he's the priest and the reluctant mayor of Agnus, and then starts getting weird. He must have been hit too many times with the sacramental wine bottle...
